Reviews for Hotel Monaco
This hotel is so much fun!
So modern, but classic! The night before my wedding I stayed here with a bunch of girlfriends for my Bachelorette Party. They were very nice to accommodate all of our silly needs.
The night OF my wedding my groom and I came back to the same suite. The bed was divine and the room service menu is to die for.
The only problem I had, was that they had a flyer in the room that said you can request a steam cleaner/hair straightener/ curling irons etc. The night before the wedding we tried to request them for the following morning for a WEDDING PARTY, and they said that there weren't any available. I mean, come one, couldn't you figure something out.
But all around, It was a pleasant experience.
My husband planned and prepared the wedding night. He chose the hotel and got it all set up with them that we would have rose petals and chocolates and champagne in our room. He went a few times including the day of to be sure that it was all in place. When we arrived at the hotel glowing and excited we got to our room and none of it was there. I did not notice because I was not expecting it. He was disappointed though. Either way we had a great night of sleep and a good breakfast the next morning. When we checked out he told the woman at the front desk and she gave us our breakfast for free. Then when we got home we had a gift certificate in the mail for a free night with the romance package at any of their hotels. They did a great job of making it up to us. We used that gift certificate for our one year anniversary and had a great experience.
We were originally supposed to stay at the Hotel Vintage Plaza on our wedding night; the two hotels are both part of the Kimpton Hotels group. Unfortunately, due to some mishaps on the part of the Hotel Vintage Plaza staff and reservation department, we were unable to stay there and were transferred over to a King Spa Suite at the Hotel Monaco. Despite all of the issues with the reservations, at the end of the day I feel that our problems were dealth with accordingly and that we were adequately compensated for the problems. The Hotel Monaco was lovely! The room was large and beautiful, with a deep whirlpool bathtub large enough for two and a very comfortable bed. The hotel staff was incredibly professional and helpful, and even came and tidied the room up after my bridesmaids and I used it to get ready. If I was looking for a higher end hotel in Portland, I would stay at the Hotel Monaco again and would consider a Kimpton Hotel in another city as well.
excellent style and decor. stay in a lovely sweet for the first night of your honeymoon and fly off in the morning to your destination
