Reviews for House of Fashion Bridal
This store was the worst bridal store I had gone to. Very rude service, the dresses were old and dingy and they tried pushing discontinued dresses on you because that's all they had in their inventory. The place was very old and the staff was very insulting. I took whatever dress that I had tried on, none of them were anything special and the prices were ridiculous for dresses that you could not order, you had to take the old sample, and we just walked out. Don't waste your time.
I was not impressed with their service. I had an appointment, was there on time, and had to wait 30 minutes before a consultant let me upstairs. I was prepared with a list of 5 gowns of designers that I knew they carried. As I went to give it to her, she refused to take it and then lead me into a room of packed-in (like sardines) trumpet gowns and told me to pick out whatever I liked. How is that for a shopping experience? Someone else did help me into some gowns, but that was it for my experience there. I did not get try on a single gown that I wanted, as I could not find them in their mess of racks. Needless to say, I did not buy my dress there. Honestly, there service was just as bad as David's Bridal, if not worse.
I was very happy with the service I got at HOF, from beginning to end they were wonderful to work with. I paid a bit more than I wanted to for my dress but no one else carried my dress online so I had to get it at HOF. The alterations were perfect the first time around and were pretty reasonably priced to boot.
I was not very pleased with this place. First off, the dress took longer to come in, then they told me. They constantly made excuses for why it wasn't there and just to keep calling back. When it finally did come, I asked them for a quote on dress alterations. When I went back there to get them done, another seamstress quoted me a higher price. We basically told them to honor what they had first told us, or we were going to take our business elsewhere, and let everyone know about how bad this place was. Nevertheless, my dress was beautiful in the end and I got tons of compliments.
I was scared going into House of Fashion, because I had heard bad things about it! However I was very pleasantly surprised by my experience. I had a sweet sales attendant in Yvonne - who pulled out a bunch of dresses immediately when I told her what I was looking for. She was very helpful and brought out the dress I ended up buying (Maggie Sottero - Grace) from my description of what I was looking for, and was less expensive than many of the dresses I had written down to try on. The dress came in early and there was no pressure to alter there.
I would recommend going on a weekday, I went on a Monday morning and it was great, not crowded at all.
I was bit hesitant about setting an appointment here after reading less than positive reviews on other sites. Sure enough, my laziness took over since it has the largest selection of wedding gowns in Sacramento. I figured it would be a good start. My consultant and her assistant were very nice and fairly helpful. I came in with a folder of clips so they could get a sense of what I liked. She had me try on different types of gowns to see what would look good on me. It was pretty helpful.
My problem is with the store's set-up and operation. 1) The store is too small to carry the amount of gowns they offer. Way too small. Not only is very confusing but it's also hard to get around the store not to mention aesthetically unpleasing. Just say no to clutter. 2) Another thing that they do (but is common) is that they double book or even (as I found out) triple book appointments. While my consultant was helpful, I didn't see much of her because she was off helping 2 other brides that were booked for that time slot (10am mind you). I was fortunate to get a dressing area that was away from the riff-raff but others were not so lucky. 3) They need to established rules and notify all staff. I was told that my appointment would last 1 hour when I called to confirm however, on the day of, my consultant told me I could try on dresses as long as I wanted (this was when I thought my appointment ended). Too bad I made other arrangements. Whatever. It was my first dress appointment.
In all, my consultant was good but the store and it's set-up left much to be desired.
I've had nothing but pleasant experiences here. A friend bought her dress at the HofF and we attended a bridal show together where some other boutique was selling sample gowns for "deep discounts." We found her dress there, a ratty dirty sample, for over $100 for what she had paid for for her brand new gown at HofF! So I knew I had to shop there, because obviously their pricing was good. I got great, non-pushy help from Mina. I brought in about 10 pictures of gowns that I liked and she swiftly pulled about 8 dresses that were all similar to the pictures, in all price ranges. They carry a HUGE range of brands. I ended up loving and buying the 3rd dress I tried on there, a Jim Hjelm.
All in all, there is no coddling or oohing and ahhing here. If youre looking for champagne and sweet talk, go to a boutique. House of Fashion is for gals who just want to try on dresses without strangers telling them/lying to them about how beautiful they look. If you want someone to baby you, go to a boutique and pay twice as much for some woman to ooh and ahh you.
I had nothing but a wonderful experience here. They really took care of me and gave me great customer service. And their prices were very reasonable.
Alterations:
Great service, can be pricey BUT you felt comfortable that they knew what they were doing.
Wedding gown:
house of fashion was perfect because it was close, lots to choose from, great service, & prices were okay
I would recommend not going here. They prices were good compared to other places, but the alterations I received were pretty awful. To start off with they ordered the wrong size for me. When they altered the dress it fit differently that before. I tried to tell them of their mistakes but (in their heavy accents) said "no it looks fine, it looks fine." Somebody forgot to tell them that on your wedding day the dress needs to look perfect!
Alterations:
House of Fashion had my wedding date a week later than it was so my alterations had to be rushed. I give them a 3 because my alterations were very nice, but the personnel taking my measurements was not very nice. I thought they were a but pricey. I recommend shopping around for alterations.
Bridal Shops:
House of Fashion by far has the most dresses on hand to choose from. The staff was really friendly and found me the perfect dress on the first try. They didn’t try to push anything that was out of my price range and really listened to me when I described the type of dress I wanted. Their prices are a little high. I recommend finding your dress there but price check around before you buy there. I found my dress $300 cheaper at another bridal salon.
Alterations:
House of Fashion for the bridesmaid dresses was very pricey, however their customer service was good. Turn around time took longer than expected.
Bridesmaids Dresses:
House of Fashion has a wide selection of dresses for the bride as well as the bridesmaids. The employees there seem to be too pushy for me, like they work for commission. I suggest going there to try on dresses, then shopping around for a better price elsewhere. Might I suggest trying on the dress, then going to netbride.com to see if it’s cheaper online. They have great customer service, are trustworthy, and have a good turn around time for the item purchased.
Great selection of gowns to work with. Also excellent customer service. The bride’s gown needed quite a few alterations on a tight schedule and the seamstress did an immaculate job. Their employees also have elegant opinions and taste.
All of the different Bridesmaid dresses at House of Fashion Bridal Salon were very well place and the store was very organized. It was very easy to find what we liked at the shop. The only downside to everything was the staff was so overwhelmed with other customers that they really did not have time to help everyone so it did get a bit stressful and also overwhelming. We finally found a nice bridesmaid dress at the shop. It did take awhile waiting to check out because of the representative to the company was busy. Other than the shop’s customer service everything else went great and other then the stresses for the quest of information on the dresses we found something we liked.
They found my perfect dress. I went in with probably a million pictures and Mahin (my consultant) found me the perfect dress. They asked me my price range and found one in just the right range. Everything about it was perfect. Mahin was excellent, I recommend requesting her if you can, and she was not pushy at all. She found "MY DRESS" to fit my body and make me look as good as possible.
I had heard horrible things from a bride who is not the typical size 14 or below (like me). I went anyway, hoping to get better service, and I was very pleasantly surprised. Everyone who I worked with (both the main attendant, as well as her helper) were kind, patient, & above all - helpful. A couple of months before my wedding, I broke my leg & was scheduled to come in for a fitting. They sweetly altered just the top of my dress since I was still in a cast, and then allowed me to come in a couple of weeks before the wedding for the lower half of the dress to be altered. One week before the wedding, I had my final fitting & the staff continued to be kind & helpful. My bridesmaids also had a great experience - including one who was 3 months pregnant & who needed last minute alterations, too!
I have nothing but amazing things to say about the House of Fashion. I bought my wedding dress there and Mahin was an incredible sales woman. She knew what style fit my body and found "the one" for me. I did everything from fittings, alterations, to bridesmaids dresses at HOF. All aspects of their services were professional, smooth, and without surprises or problems. I would recommend them over and over again. Thank you House of Fashion for making the "wedding dress experince" memorable.
DON'T DO IT!!! I literally cried after my experience here. I made an appointment with a saleswoman who came highly recommended. Upon arrival, she immediately told me that she had 3 other brides she was helping at the same time, and that I could help myself to 8, and only 8 dresses. Then she left, and I was left with two teenage "helpers", one of which was texting on her cell phone the entire time. The place was packed with brides and finding dresses I liked among the mayhem was nearly impossible. I only found one dress I liked. ADVICE; GO TO THE HOUSE OF FASHION OUTLET!!!! The saleswoman was SO sweet and incredibly helpful. The atmosphere was relaxed and quaint, and I got my dress--originally $1500--for $325. Amazing. I would never recommend House of Fashion to anyone.
Wonderfull
