I Dream of Cake

This place is very clean and the cake lady is very artistic. I thought she was very nice and professional, and I felt like the cakes on display were like pieces of art.

Anna was superb to work with for our wedding cake. Her communication was great and always responded quickly to me, answered all of my questions and jumped on board when there was a change. I've been to weddings where the cake tasted mediocre so it was important that it look great, and the taste matched. Well, absolutely no disappointment there. It was truly a piece of art (we sooo didn't want to cut into it). I am still hearing from guests about the cake (and it's been five weeks), how amazing it tasted, as well as the design. In fact, I've had a few people ask if the cake was real, some thought it was styrofoam, and that we had sheet cakes in the back. I am shocked that so many people are commenting about it, and that many of our guests took pictures of our cake, there was an actual line of people along the table waiting to take a picture with it (I've posted a pic, it's the colorful crooked cake with the two people sitting on top). I have dreamed of a Mad Hatter cake for about 14 years, and I Dream of Cake made it come true. The real fun part that actually sold me on I Dream of Cake was they do sugar people, so we had two sugar people sitting on top holding hands. When we didn't get to eat our own cake at the wedding Anna was gracious enough to give a small box of small pieces of our two flavors) so we got to enjoy after our honeymoon. They have a deal for your first anniversary, so even though we have the top tier saved, we're going to get another cake in the flavors (not the same design) to enjoy and savor.

We got a package through the Westin St. Francis and this was one of their vendors. Shinmin is an artist and our cake was beautiful. She matched to flowers on the cake perfectly to the bridesmaids dresses and captured the style of the wedding, vintage glamour. The best part though was how delicious the cake was. Our guests raved about it and we had two flavors...the most popular being vanilla caramel...so yummy and moist. The company was very professional and prompt and really tried to capture what we were going for. The tasting offered a lot of selection, although the lady we worked with did have a sort of a flat aspect to her which made it a little less celebratory and fun, but other than that minor point I have nothing but good things to say.

I went to 3 different wedding planners and asked them the same question, "Where can I get the best wedding cake in San Francisco?"

Shinmin is amazing. Very detailed and can turn your dream ideas into reality. Very beautiful designs. A little over my original budget but after seeing it in person, worth every penny. I didn't even bother to go to another vendor after my first meeting with I Dream of Cake.

I Dream of Cake provided a beautiful small wedding cake for the wedding party. It was absolutely gorgeous.

I Dream of Cake was on my vendor list for my wedding reception, my fiance and I made an appointment and went to meet Shinmin the owner. She blew us away. She is a true artist and a culinary magician. Our cake was black, yes black, with a gold damask pattern. It was not only stunning, but delicious. We had banana cream (my fiance's favorite) and chocolate with organic berry puree in rotating layers. My guests at our wedding actually asked for seconds. It was awesome

I like the tasting at I Dream Of Cake. You have to make an appointment so you can't just walk in, but they take the time to see exactly what your cake requirement are. I just loved their Mango flavor. They gave you large pieces to try and we ended up taking some home to try later. I was surprised how moist it was even after tasting the last bit overnight. They were a bit pricy for us so we ended up getting our cake someplace else, but they are highly recommended for their service and cake quality.

I did 5 tastings and I Dream of Cakes had the most gorgeous cakes but not the best tasting.
The price was $17 a slice and I thought is was really good but just not amazing. Shinmin and Kelsey were lovely; Kelsey actually came up with a design on the spot. I chose another cake vendor with amazing tasting cakes.

Shin-Min is amazing! I met her for a consultation last weekend and was amazed by her artistic ability. The cakes were displayed in her shop were so beautiful and looked like works of art... sculptures of shoes and designer handbags, to wedding cakes with beautiful textile patterns painted right onto the cake and delicate sugar flowers.

We tasted 9 flavors. All were very moist and delicious! My three favorites were dark chocolate cake with raspberry filling, toasted almond cake with rolled vanilla icing, and zesty lemon cake with lemon cream filling.

Shin-Min's has a graphic design background, 3 years experience running a commercial kitchen, and 5 years running I Dream of Cake. She was really sweet in person and very good at communicating both by phone and by email.

She created my absolute dream cake.

When we were getting looking for our perfect wedding cake, we were amazed at the quality and service at I Dream of Cakes. Not only did they taste amazing, but they also looked amazing!

They were really professional and quickly transformed my cake vision onto a reality sketch. The finished product was exactly as we discussed.

our cake was pretty dreamy. i'm biased towards Shinmin because i know her personally - but her cakes really are the tastiest you can find. and the creativity/artistic talent is incredible. she can literally make anything you can dream of! we trusted her to make a cake that fit our color scheme and general theme of the wedding and she cam through with a stunning, eye-cathing black and white cake with tiny green accents. i often dream of the cake and wish i could have a piece right now!! dreamy!!

I Dream of Cake is one of the newer cake designers on the block. I am so glad that I chose Shinmin to design my sculpted cake!! She kindly accomodated me for a second tasting to confirm my flavors and I decided to go with the toasted almond and vanilla with caramel. Those are two very distinctive flavors that I do not think you can find anywhere else. Her artwork is the best that I have seen compared to other local cake designers. I fully trusted her to carry out my dream cake. My cake was a super hit at the wedding. Guests raved about its unique design and micro detailed elements that Shinmin was able to pull off without a flaw and it tasted so...good. The toasted almond was my favorite and I will definitely be ordering from Shinmin again. I have to say that the pricing noted on this board is inaccurate. For most designs, you can expect to pay more than $10 per slice. It was pricy, but worth every pretty penny.
Also, she pulled off a pretty last minute custom cake stand without extra charge.

The best cake I ever tasted. Blew my budget but worth every morsel. You must go for a tasting. You will be amazed.

Their cakes are awesome! The girls that came to help set up a cake at a recent wedding that I coordinated were sweet and very efficient. The cake looked great and it tasted even better - even a simple frosted cake looked like better than in the specialty magazine pictures. I will defintely recommend this vendor to all my current and future clients!
