i just wanted to send a note of thanks. you were both phenomenal in shooting katie and pat's wedding last weekend -- so wonderful and enjoyable to work with but also so remarkably stealth. looking through the samples of photos ian sent colleen, i know that katie will cherish these as both stunning, artful memories of her most important day but also as a testament to your incredible talents. thank you so very much for helping make the day such an overwhelming success!!!

The pictures are amazing!!!!! We had such a blast at our wedding and loved having Tanya and you there. You two rock. Thank you so much. P.S. We are loving our honeymoon and have so far been to Saigon and Nha Trang. When I'm taking pictures I can't help but think, man, Ian would take such an awesome picture here. You've got to add this country to your list of places to visit someday. Cheers.

Thanks for the photos. They look GREAT! We just sat and looked through them all. We would love to be a reference for you. You did an awesome job at our wedding. We especially like a lot of the black and whites you have done. But, we had a great time that weekend and its hard to believe it was a month and a half ago. We are glad you had a good time, too. While you were our photographer, we wanted you to enjoy the destination weekend, too.

BIO:

Ian's story starts in 1981 when he was born in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Soon after, his family moved to Dartmouth, Massachusetts. When he was five, a family friend handed him his first camera and he spent the next few years of his childhood taking pictures of landscapes, cows, and the general goings-on of his daily life [mostly tramping through corn fields].

In middle school, Ian picked up a video camera, and found movie-making to be more socially acceptable than other forms of mischief-making. When he was in high school, his films were reviewed in Rolling Stone Magazine, which said, "...Grant lands somewhere between Scream scribe Kevin Williamson and schlockmeister Ed Wood." To this day, we're still not quite sure what that really means.

Ian decided to pursue his love of documenting life by studying film and photography at Emerson College in Boston. Between classes, Ian began shooting headshots for his fellow acting students and selling his fine art prints to galleries and private collectors.

Tanya's story starts four years later than Ian's, when she too was born. She grew up in a Philadelphia suburb and wrote her first book in first grade. It was called, My Friend Buffy, and it was about a rabbit. It was awesome. Tanya liked seeing her name in print so she kept writing. She found this to be a socially acceptable form of mischief-making, plus it was fun.

Tanya caught the acting bug in middle school, where she joined the school play. She continued her theater involvement throughout high school, acting, directing, designing and being an all around nerd. When it came time to choose a college, Tanya decided to try her luck at Emerson, where she studied Writing, Literature, and Publishing and Theater Education, two majors with very long names.

Then one day, Ian devised a plan to celebrate the best in cafeteria comment cards, and a mutual Emerson friend invited Tanya to join. Obviously Ian had been collecting the posted comment cards for the last couple years, and had been devising a plan to cover the cafeteria walls in them after hours. Is it any wonder they should meet making mischief?

Soon after, Ian moved to Los Angeles, and a few years later Tanya joined him. He still owes her. They realized with their powers combined they could run a pretty darn cool business. Ian Grant Photography was born. The couple shot their first wedding a little while later and were hooked. They decided they should also get married, so they did. Ian and Tanya currently live in Los Angeles with their dog, cat, and rabbit.

Ian Grant Photography featured in Philadelphia Magazine!

Philadelphia Magazine Real Wedding Feature

How cool is this?!  One of our favorites weddings this year of Katie and Mike was just listed as a ‘Featured Wedding‘ in Philadelphia Magazine’s real weddings section.  Their wedding had a great unique quality to it with lots of saturated reds and vintage tones.  You can see the article here and see more photos from their wedding in Philadelphia on our blog post.
