In Stitches with Reene

Reene altered my lace wedding dress that I had bought off the rack as a sample. There were multiple layers of fabric and lace that she had to cut in order to shorten the dress. She also was able to replace the beaded sash (which was a little tore up when I bought the dress) on the dress with new ribbon and have the bead work placed onto the new ribbon. She also made me a gorgeous fingertip length mantilla veil to match my dress. Many of my guests remarked that it was the most beautiful veil they had ever seen.

I came to Reene on a friend's glowing recommendation. All I needed was a bustle. She claimed to not be able to have all the layers gather, and suggested CUTTING the satin under layer so it wouldn't have to be bustled. (My dress was chiffon over satin from David's Bridal, nothing too poofy). I stood firm that we would not be cutting my dress. We opted for a double bustle. She drew a picture of the bustle ties for my mom, which I never saw. During the wedding cocktail hour, my maid of honor was with me trying for the life of her to find all the ties and simply couldn't. The under satin part was done but the top layer we could only find the center pull and tie. We gave up and my dress dragged on the floor all night and I kept stepping on it.

Even after I had the dress off and saw the drawing I could not locate the ties. I had my dress preserved with Enchanted Bridal in Chatsworth, who examined the dress and confirmed there were no 5th and 6th ties!!! Reene didn't finish my dress!! She also didn't anchor down a loose bead that she marked with a pin!! I don't know what's going on in that garage of hers.

Renee did a terrific job on my wedding dress! I was a bit concerned because my dress was real silk satin with delicate beading, however, Renee's alterations were perfect and she was about half the price of bridal salons. I highly recommend her!

I took my dress to Renee for some minor alterations and was very pleased. She is very friendly and knowledgeable, I had a hazy idea of what I wanted and she was able to work with it easily. She even recommended adding straps to my strapless dress so that I could wear a more supportive bra, it was a great call (and a comfortable one!)

renne is simply awesome! Dun let the bridal store do your alteration! She was super friendly and actually spent time to explain to me what need to be done and showed me many options! I love the french bustle she did for my dress and got lots of compliments for it! I spent $340 for extra buttons at the back, bra pads, hemming, taking in the sides, french bustle and taking in the knee width. My dress looked so awesome when she was done! I would actually go back to her for future dress alterations!

So Far I have just talk to her on the phone and she is a very helpful lady....She gave me a lot of information as to what to bring for my fittings!

I must Say she knows her stuff very well!! Just had my first fitting with her and she made me fell very comfortable!!!

Update!! She is wonderful and very funny lady!! She makes me feel very comfortable being around her...she is very affordable and knows her work!!

All I can say is Thank God for Reene!! Oh my, my dress was several sizes too big! Reene saved the day... she took in over 7 inches... all lace dress, mermaid (so it needs to FIT!) and she just made it look amazing! Plus, we added straps so I would be able to dance without fear and a bustle. She will definitely be direct and say what she thinks, which I really appreciated since she will tell you what she can and cannot do.

If you'd like to make your own mind up, there are pics in my bio (of the wedding, so once it was done... I don't have any pics of it when it was huge, but just take my word for it :)), but suffice it to say, she had to seriously take in the dress, it was all lace and mermaid fit (so those are complications), she added a corset, straps, and a bustle, and had it pressed. There was a lot of work to be done and by the time she was finished, it looked like that dress was made just for me! She does beautiful work and she's a fantastic person. I highly recommend Reene!

My dress was HUGE on me - Reene totally came through and the alterations were PERFECT! She hemmed my dress, added a 3 point French bustle, took it in prefectly, re-beaded everything expertly, added this little piece of elastic to pull my dress back and give me a slimmer siloutte, put in cups, and was SUPER nice! She seems a bit ditsy, but does an excellent job.

Reene is great! Very reasonable prices for alterations, and she's an expert at what she does. My dress fit beautifully, and I absolutely loved my bustle.She seems pretty busy (she forgot that I wanted my off-the-shoulder sleeves to be detachable and would've made them permanent if I hadn't mentioned it again), but she got my dress done with time to spare, and I couldn't be happier with how it looked.

I found Reene at In Stiches through another bridal forum and she was one of the best finds ever. She was honest with me about the fit of the dress, I needed to loose about 5 pounds, and the trim on my dress made it VERY difficult to hem. She told me that I could spend hundreds of dollars for her to take out the trim by hand hem the dress an inch and put the trim back in by hand or I could just get taller shoes. I went with taller shoes and I'm so glad I did. Reene saved me lots of money and I got cuter shoes! She is a great lady with lots of moxy and she loves her brides. Her prices are extremely good and she will try to work with your schedule. Highly recommend!!

Ok well so far I am impressed with Reene. She was very sweet and helpful over the phone.She sounds like she has a great personality. I will update my review once I see her :)

Update 8/10/09: Well I saw Reene today and she made me feel so much better about my dress and how it fit. I am no longer worried about it. Although I will definetely be paying more than I was expecting, I admit she will be doing alot to my dress and I think it will be worth it. I will update again once it's all done.

My dress came out just like I wanted. She made alot of changes to it so that it would fit just right and yet it stayed to where I still LOVED the way it looked.

I went to Reene for my wedding dress alterations and she was amazing! She also ended up custom making my veil. This is the place to go if you want personal service, I went to her starting 2 months out and a total of 3 fittings. She was so nice and accomodating every time. My bridesmaid also used her for alterations and she agreed that Reene makes your dress look like it was custom made for you!

Renee is the best!!! She perfected my already perfect dress with the small alterations I needed :). So many people complimented me on how great the dress fit my body. And, the bustle she created was absolutely gorgeous!!It could have been complicated, but she color coded the ties for an easy transition! Very reasonable pricing! Great personality to work with!!!

I went to Reene based on PW recommendations and my coordinator's recommendations (even ran into a couple other PW brides when I went for my first fitting!)

Apparently the dress I chose was a very difficult dress to alter, but at the end, everything fit perfectly. The bustle was also the most complicated bustle I'd ever seen, but she color-coded all the ribbons and on the day-of when my bridesmaids bustled me up, it fell beautifully - everyone was very impressed! Reene also altered my rehearsal dress for me, and that turned out well too. I would definitely recommend her!

I stupidly bought a dress that was too small thinking I would fit into it later. Of course that never happened, but Reene altered the dress so it fit. She also bustled, hemmed the dress, cut away extra fabric to show off the lace, added a sweat heart kneckline, and bra cups. The cost was VERY reasonable. You can also unload your unwanted bridesmaid dresses with her. She will donate them to an organization called brides for breast cancer. I highly recommend her alterations.

Since I'm 5'4", almost everything I buy needs to be shortened. I bought a new dress for the rehearsal dinner and it was too long so I took it in for shortening. I was very happy with the workmanship and turnaround time and recommend In Stiches to anyone who needs alterations of any kind. I already sent my sister there and she also was happy with the quality of service.

This a seamstress that works in her home, but she provides wonderful alterations for your wedding gown needs. She did a very simple bustle for me that worked alright for the wedding day. If you are in a pinch, she is a great value.

Reene was great to work with, she is clearly very experienced, and my dress fitted me perfectly. She has a very efficient work style and quite no nonsense, her suggestions are practical and not costly. I ended up having my dress hemmed, taken in, bustled and added bra cups (she told me to return the underwear I'd bought because they wouldn't look good and cost almost 4x the price of the bra cups!)

Hi just wanted to let everyone know that I went to Reene for my dress for alterations and I didnt know what to expect. Not only was she a doll she was so reasonable and helped me through an amazing expierence I cant believe she was able to create the most incredible wedding dress of my dreams. I recreated something that I thought I was not going to be able to get from the dress I bought she turned this 200 dollar dress into a 2000 dollar dress for such a reasonable price she was right on and not only that she was able to complete my dress exactly in the short time I needed it back. No stress on both ends. She made me an incredible veil and is going to clean and box my dress and have it back to me in a months time. I am blown away by all the detail she put into my dress and time she spent for the amount I paid she actully took out the back and put in a corsette back that laced up the back with incredible detail with hours of beeding. I just dont know how she did this with time and patience and she told me right from the start how to put my dress up in a bussel and the directions were very simple and complete. I am very happy with Reene and I will fly back when i can.

Renee did a fantastic job on my wedding dress. She also did alterations on my bridesmaids and mom. She did her best to keep the cost down when she could (one BM dress only cost 12 bucks to shorten!) She created a very simple but elegant bustle that was easy for my BM's to tie but still looked amazing!

Reene is a spitfire and a total pro. Total, my alterations cost under $200, and that's including the final steam and press, major zipper work, tightening straps, adding bra cups, hem, and bustle. In the end, my dress fit me like it was made for me, and that's all thanks to Reene. Her work speaks for itself.

Reene was a dream to work with. She is very affordable and does an amazing job on your dress. I took my wedding dress to her because I needed a little breathing room. Reene came up with several different options, and was able to find two seams that had enough fabric to be let out while not making any changes to the look of the dress. It came out perfectly! She also sweethearted the neckline which was just right. She also does gown cleaning, so I will be taking my gown to her because I know that she takes great care in what she does and is just amazing at it!

My mom got her dress altered by Reene and she did an amazing job! We were so happy with how it turned out and she's very reasonably priced.

Reene took me on with only 2 weeks until my wedding! Luckily I didn't need too much done, but she was able to add a bustle, sew in bra cups and even up the hem in less than 2 days! She is quick, no-nonsense and reasonably priced!

What else can I say about Reene that hasn't been said already? She is just fabulous & I highly recommend her! She is so sweet and great to work with and she really knows her stuff! Her and her assistant Orita made my dress fit me perfectly! It was no easy feat as the dress was huge on me (I am tiny) and it was pulling in certain areas b/c it wasn't really proportionate to my body. After many fittings, Reene & Orita fixed all the problems with my dress and made it fit amazingly. I got so many compliments at the wedding with people saying the dress looked liked it was made for me! I also got this question/statement a lot "How were you ever able to find a dress to fit your tiny frame? It fits you perfectly!" So, well done & thank you Reene! Brides-- I highly recommend Reene! She will make your dress fit you perfectly!

I went to Reene after being referred to her by Pebbles Bridal. She was so warm and easy to work with. She did the alterations on my wedding dress and my BM/MOH dresses. She made suggestions for changes to my dress that I thought would cost a fortune, but they didn't. I found a rehearsal dinner dress that was slightly too small, she was able to make adjustments to it with a few days notice and it fit perfectly. My mom & grandma had to travel to the wedding and Reene offered to steam their dresses for free. My BM dresses had to have bustles and all but 1 had to have their dresses let out and hemmed. And I think the most any of my girls paid was $50. I can't recommend Reene enough. I will be going back to her for my future needs.
