Island Sound is AMAZING!!!! This DJ was the best decision of the entire wedding! He made the wedding what it was - which was FUN!! I have had more people complement us on the music/DJ then anything else at the wedding. My sister even said that the DJ was the best wedding DJ she has ever heard. Seriously - the dancing did not stop until it was time to go. Perfect!

We had guests come from almost every corner of the globe and because of Island Sound, I don't think by of them left the dance floor! Our DJ read the crowd so well and everyone had an amazing time. They knew how to pace it, how to get the older crowd out and having a good time, kept the younger crowd from getting bored and didn't burden us with a lot of talking. They always knew how to keep the party going and not try to be the center of attention. Everything was just perfect!

Island Sound performed at our daughter's wedding on April 6, 2013 on St. Simons Island, GA. Justin is a professional gentleman that truly gets what people are looking for when hiring a high quality DJ. He played the right mix of music to get people dancing and those that didn't like to dance - they enjoyed the music immensely! It was an outdoor wedding and he knew exactly what volume level to use for all guests to enjoy the music and all the while kept from bothering my neighbors. I would hire Island Sound in a heartbeat for my next event.

Justin Henshaw at Island Sound is an amazing DJ. I used him not only for my own wedding but I also book him for our Weddings at Sea Palms Resort here in Saint Simons. My guests raved about him just like my clients do. He is professional and at the same time fun and good at getting the crowd involved. I highly reccomend Island Sound for any event.

AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!! Worth every penny. When my fiancé, now husband :) were considering a DJ we were reluctant because of all the bad things we thought we knew about wedding DJs. We had been to those weddings, with those DJs that were simply embarrassing.

Island Sound was cool, fun, completely approachable and got involved with the crowd without being too much or being cheesy.

Island Sound's Justin Henshaw far exceeded my expectations for a DJ at a wedding. He was professional, organized, energetic, and in his element. They made the reception a blast and my guests will not stop raving about it. These guys obviously know what they are doing and I would recommend them in a heartbeat.

Great DJ! They played great music, stayed on schedule with announcements, and were very friendly and professional. The price is very reasonable.

Island Sound was slated to do our wedding, and after the music for the ceremony was completed (which ran smoothly as far as I know), the DJ informed us that he was leaving and another person would be running the reception music. If I would have known what a mistake that was going to be I would have begged the original DJ to stay. The kid he left introduced our wedding party incorrectly (introducing us, the bride and groom, as our parents TWICE). During the introductions there was NO music playing, making it completely awkward. He couldn't seem to follow the songs we picked out for the ceremony, despite the groom going over them with him in detail before the ceremony. We stood up there for about a minute while waiting for him to play our first dance song- again in silence. He played the wrong song for the cake cutting, and everything in between was silent. It made the whole reception incredibly awkward. Furthermore, no one could understand any of the announcements he made. Once the dancing got going he did a great job, but the start of the ceremony made me feel like it was his first time as a DJ. If you are thinking about using them I would suggest making sure the DJ you get is experienced.

Given the responses this company has made to previous complaints I don't expect them to take any responsibility for anything, which is completely unprofessional. But I do want to share our experiences with future brides who are looking for a DJ.

Horrible horrible horrible. Please consider other DJs. Not what you ask for. Basically an iPod with a playlist of songs you want hooked up to a speaker would be tons better. Played songs all the way to the end but made sure to cut important songs like last dance short. Not worth the money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you Island Sound for making my wedding day the absolute best party I have ever been to! All of the song selections were absolutely perfect for the age range and feel of the day. I never had to worry about what song would be next or wonder if people would get on the dance floor. Everyone had a great time and danced the night away! Thank you!

Incredible! When me and my husband, then fiancé, were looking for DJs in the area, we kept hearing about Island Sound. They had an amazing reputation. They did not disappoint. From the ceremony to the final farewell, Island Sound controlled everything. Haha... In fact, my aunt was supposed to be the "wedding coordinator ", she laughingly said to me later, "why did you even need me, Island Sound took care of everything."

The music selection was great and exactly what we were looking for. We had some unusual requests. ;) But everyone danced and had a blast, which is the biggest testament to our DJ.

The only negative part of our wedding day was the DJ. We got married on March 3rd...under not ideal weather conditions. The caterer told Justin to set up elsewhere bc his equipment would get wet. He did not listen so "his stuff was ruined". Every announcement of the bridal party was wrong, our first dance song stopped (for a good 20 or so seconds), dance with my brother stopped and he proceeded to play an entirely different song. He did not do the garter/bouquet toss at all (still dont have a reason why that didn't happen) nor play any of the requested songs I specified on the form I filled out. On top of all of that, he made the biggest mistake he could have made on that day. Once again ignoring the form I filled out for him which stated that there was NO bride/father dance, he proceeded to call me and my father to the dance floor for our dance. My father passed away when i was fifteen...needless to say, that was the most painful thing I have felt in a while. Too bad it had to be on my wedding day as my father not being present was painful enough.
I got back from my honeymoon fully expecting at least an email from Justin apologizing and trying to make things right. NO, not a word. I reached out to him through email thanking him for keeping my guests entertained throughout the night (they did dance and have a good time) but expressed my concerns regarding all of the things that went wrong including the unforgivable announcement about my father. His response was less than stellar. It was the most unprofessional email I have ever received from a vendor. He did not take credit for anything that went wrong. He either blamed me or the weather. He was not very apologetic and did not offer any way to alleviate my dissatisfaction. After sending my initial email, I was told by several of my guests that he was drinking throughout the entire night. Needless to say, I would ENCOURAGE people NOT to use him or his business. He never set up time with me to go over announcements/timing/etc eventhough I asked him what else needed to be done. Having never been married or planned a wedding, i would expect my vendor to guide me through the process.
I am posting this in hopes that nobody else has to feel the pain that I felt that day when he called me and my father to the dance floor....bc he will definitely not do anything to correct/make up for his mistake.

Island Sound did an amazing job with both our ceremony and reception! Justin was so helpful and reassured us through the whole process. He was easy to reach and promptly returned my emails. It was apparent he knows what works best regarding the timing of the bouquet/garter toss, cake cutting, etc., so we took his suggestions and everything worked out perfectly! I could not have asked for a better DJ to make my wedding such a success. The music selection was perfect and our guest raved about how much fun they had. Oh, I hate having to leave negative reviews. Normally, I will give people the benefit of the doubt, and maybe this was just a fluke, but I cannot recommend Island Sound with a clear conscience. I understand that I need to give reasons and I will try to keep them objective. For starters, Justin brought a date to my reception. If that isn't bad enough, she was pushing buttons causing the music to stop abruptly, fade in, and fade out. He was distracted whereby causing him to play the cake cutting song without announcing that it was time to cut the cake. He did come up to me to apologize, though, and played another song which worked out perfectly. He played the wrong song for the garter toss; however, I liked the one that he selected better. Now, when we (the wedding party) arrived on location, we were supposed to get announced; however, the DJ was not in the building. So, we ended up standing on the stairs for what felt like an eternity looking at our guests. Once Justin came back to the building, he came up to us and seemed angry. He took down our names, in the order that I sent to him the Monday before the wedding, and said that, "This is the reason why I like to talk to people before the wedding." He made it seem like it was my fault, which I don't understand since I had emailed him twice with no response back and he had my cellphone number. He announced the wedding party saying my sister's name three times. My husband and I tried to laugh it off. I didn't know this until later, but Justin went up to my husband an asked him if anything was going to go on time. My husband asked what he meant. Justin replied that the cake cutting was supposed to be at a certain time and we were 1/2 hour off. (Justin asks you to fill out a form and email it back to him with your requests for songs, order in which you and your party will be announced, and tentative timing of the reception. I prefaced that part with us requesting him to do what he feels is best and that we trust him but we were sending ideas.) My husband looked at his watch and then asked Justin if he had turned his watch back from the week before. Justin laughed and said that he had not. My husband was frustrated and pointed out that Justin's laptop and Ipad had the correct time. I think that was about everything that I remember that went wrong. The thing that I appreciated was that Justin did try to cover what flubs he could; however, he has a job that he gets paid quite a bit for. I would have expected him to be more professional. I'm trying to not let this be the part of the wedding that stands out to me, but as of right now, it does. So, in short, I am thinking that this might have been a fluke but I was not impressed. Also, I've heard of, "Bring a daughter to work day" but I've never heard of "Bring a girlfriend to work night". No matter how hard I try, I am having a very hard time trying to justify that one...very unprofessional.

I hired Island Sound to DJ my wedding and ceremony. He did a great job on the reception, but the ceremony was horrible. His sound died 2 songs in and he had no back up. The DJ approached me as I supposed to be getting ready to walk down the aisle and told me there was no sound, no back up and nothing he could do about it. We only got the sound running by (illegally) driving a car onto the beach and using an adaptor that one of our guests happened to have, so now there's a car in some of my beach wedding pictures. The DJ played the wrong version of one of the songs, turned another song OFF when we asked him to turn it UP and then someone had to tell him to turn on the recessional music. Justin knew of the problems as they were happening and got an email from me a week ago, and I still have gotten no response. I'd recommend them for a reception, but find someone else to trust for your ceremony.

I had Ben as my DJ for my wedding in October. The whole day was absolutely wonderful and the reason why so many people had such a good time was because of our DJ. He helped keep all the events organized and running on a timely manner. He even stayed after to help us move our rentals to help us get out of our venue faster. He was amazing!!! I had so many compliments on my day and tons of compliments on the DJ. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to have a fun wedding!

Justin was awesome and was exactly what we were looking for and needed. Despite being very vague in terms of what we wanted Justin was able to read the people at our wedding and adjust to how everything was going. He was very patient with us as well, since we forgot to send him some custom music and had to have him play it off our iPad. If we do another event in st. Simons we will definitely hit up Justin and island sound for our event.

I was okay with the service I recieved. Though I had higher hopes for what I would get, given all the rave reviews I had heard. There was no real contract, and I didnt feel like my DJ was informed on everything I did and did not want.

Justin was the DJ at my daughter's wedding reception, and I can say without hestitation that based on the many positive comments it was the most fun our friends have had at a wedding reception - and there have been many!

Justin with Island Sound did a great job for our reception. He was GREAT with the song selection and really got everyone dancing throughout the whole night without being TOO much! Everyone still talks about what great music he played all night even during dinner. Justin was very professional and made my receiption everything I could've asked for.

Island Sound did a great job. The DJ helped get the guests involved and even got on the dance floor and taught them some dances. He played great music and was very personable.

I had known Justin from high school as a drum major in band, which is what initially drew me to further investigate upon finding their website....but other things immediately began to impress me. He has infused his company with a perfect balance of professionalism and fun-loving nature. Justin took my (then) fiance' and I out for coffee several months before the wedding and got a good feel for our personalities and what we wanted. He gave us a questionnaire that helped us have thorough and clear communication with our DJ and helped to 'map out' the reception. Tim was our DJ and was extremely courteous, professional, and fun without being over-bearing as some DJ's tend to be. He kept the reception flowing seamlessly and responded to both pre-planned requests and even a few last-second ones without missing a beat! Everyone had a great time. They really make you feel taken care of and your wedding will be in great hands with Island Sound. Keep it up guys!

Very helpful and knowledgable of popular wedding songs. Easy to get in touch with and quickly responds to emails and phone calls. Very professional but also kept it very fun:) Every thing ran very smooth and I did not worry about anything. They had everything under control. We had an outdoor wedding ceremony, the quality of music was wonderful but the volume could have been louder so guest could hear. Other than that I highly recommend them:)

Justin and the Island Sound Crew were great! I never realized how important it was to have a great DJ. My fiancé (now husband) insisted on having a DJ instead of a band "Why would you want to hear someone imitating the real singer." After meeting with Justin over lunch, we realized Island Sound was worth every penny. Justin and the boys kept the party going and actually kept us on schedule. Everything turned out perfect. I wish I could give a 10 out of 5!

Justin and his team were AWESOME! As my lovely wife (Jenn) mentioned earlier I was adamant about a DJ. It is worth it to spend your money on a good DJ, these guys will serve as MC for your wedding. They will ensure that everything is on schedule and watch your guest to make sure they are having enjoying themselves. Justin really impressed me from the lunch meeting a month before the wedding to his attentiveness on the day of the wedding. It was clear from the beginning that Justin's main focus is the customer, I believe that customer service is the most important aspect of business and Justin puts the customer first. Through out the event Justin and his team were focused on us, they were not only concerned about the music they were also concerned about the things we needed. They continually checked in with us and any time a request was made they jumped on it and made sure it was fulfilled. All of my guests had wonderful things to say about Island Sound and I have there there name and information with several people since the wedding. If you need a DJ then you have to choose Justin and his team at Island Sound they are worth every penny you will spend. These guys do so much more than just play music.

Island Sound was GREAT to work with. They did both our rehearsal dinner and our reception. At the rehearsal they did a trivia game for us. They were all great, and I would recommend them to anyone planning a wedding in South Georgia/North Florida.

OMG!!!! Justin with Island Sound Live was amazing......he got the party started and kept it going :) He kept it clean for the older adults and children.....from the oldies to the top 20.....JUST GREAT!!! We will be referring friends to him from this day forward...lol :) Thank you so much Justin.

I had the pleasure of being at an affair where Island Sound was playing and they did an incredible job. His music was up to date but it wasn't harsh and loud. I enjoyed his choice of music very much.

I've worked with Justin from Island Sound and he is fantastic! He kept the party going, the music was current and entertaining. I would recommend Justin/Island Sound to anyone Bride or Groom looking for a DJ who can carry their reception well! Justin definitely knows what he is doing and he has a nice set up too.

We absolutely love working with Island Sound!! It is refreshing to find a DJ that is professional, can read a crowd, and plays a great mix of music. You can't go wrong with Island Sound!

Justin is a complete professional. He and his staff work very well with not only their clients, but also the entire wedding event team as a whole (planners, photographers, caterers, etc.). This is so important when pulling together and executing a client's event. I attended a Bridal Show where Island Sound was playing. I loved the mix of music!!! His choice of music was perfect for the occasion. It was mellow without being too loud. I don't think they played anything I didn't like. They were extremely professional and I don't think you can go wrong hiring them for your wedding or affair.
