Frankie was our DJ. He was great. Island Sound met with us multiple times and helped us choose songs and the wedding/reception timeline.

Island Sound donated their services for my wedding through Operation Marry Me Military. Jason was a terrific DJ and a lot of fun. Somehow he got every single person out on the dance floor at one point. Our guests of all ages had a blast. Island Sound was a perfect fit for our wedding!

We are wedding photographers and have been to tons and tons of weddings and have heard tons and tons of DJs. We know that the DJ makes or breaks the party. For all the DJs we've heard over the years, one stuck out the most... Jason from Island Sound. We heard him play at a wedding we photographed at Haywood Hall in Raleigh and as soon as we had the date set for our own wedding, he was one of the first vendors we contacted. We had him drive all the way to the coast of NC for our wedding and it was worth every cent! We even had him stay an extra 2 hours (5 hours total!) because everyone was having such a great time and he kept the party going. Jason did a great job working in our requests, helping suggest ways to make our ideas work, and did a fantastic job reading what our guests were most responsive to. We really appreciated the fact that he would STOP a song if he noticed it cleared the dance floor. Why try to make it work if it's not going to work? He knew how to keep the floor packed ALL NIGHT. He also suggested a lot of great ideas for our wedding in general that we actually used... like having a raffle. It's the little things :) I don't think you can't go wrong with these guys!

Frankie did an awesome job at our wedding this past weekend. He took requests, played great music and simply helped make our dance floor a great time! I highly recommend using Island Sound if you want your wedding day to be flawless!

Jason at Island Sound did our wedding last month and did an awesome job! We didn't really know what to do or what we wanted for our wedding music, but we met with him twice before our wedding and gave us a lot of help. He really made our day run smoothly- even when we changed up things in our reception last minute- 15 minutes before our 1st dance we asked to change our song, Jason went into the house downloaded the new song and it was ready to go! He was great & we would highly recommend Island Sound :)

These guys are incredible. Jason was our DJ and was not only a great MC, but he knew how to read the crowd so that the dance floor was always full (not an easy thing to do) They even gave us a military discount. I would recommend Island Sound to anyone searching for a good time at their wedding reception!

We used Jason fro Island Sound for our wedding. He completely understood the vibe we were going for. He did an excellent job of playing the songs we requested and coming up with his own songs that fit wonderfully. He was also incredibly flexible the day off. The groom changed his mother/son dance song at the last minute. We had a table of friends singing Disney songs to themselves so he played a few Disney songs for them. He had a great stage presence and made a great MC. The only complaint we got was that some of our older guests thought that the music got a bit too loud near the end of the evening. However, our friends preferred it that way. So it all worked out. I would definitely recommend Jason from Island Sound.

Jason from Island Sound was our wedding DJ and I cannot say enough good things about him. We were wary of the traditional wedding DJ and had a very particular vision of the kind of music we wanted and how we wanted our event to flow. Jason executed this vision flawlessly and completely exceeded our expectations. That our friends, who are not big dancers, were on the dance floor for most of the evening is a testament to Jason's ability to read the crowd and set the mood. He was also great with our nieces and nephews and let them play with his turntables. I would hire him again in a second!

Island Sound was fantastic. Jason was our DJ and we really couldn't have asked for a better match. Going to talk to him was so easy, he was very friendly, would joke around and I could tell he was really looking to make us happy. He asked a lot of questions, what style of music I wanted him to play during certain events (symphonic vs quartet style classical, familiar songs done by a string quartet or more stereotypical classical music during dinner), as well as when I wanted him to play certain songs that may be a little more inappropriate for little kids to hear. The best part, right after the rehearsal my maid of honor started messing with her phone and she had the Ghostbusters theme song on it. As this is my husband's favorite movie EVER, this eventually led to the idea of the theme song being the recessional song. I was fine with this, but I knew somebody else would have to ask the DJ the next day, as there would be no chance I'd get to talk to him prior to the ceremony. I also realized that anybody else asking him would probably get a "no" because he wouldn't know whether or not I was ok with the switch. I wrote a permission slip and signed it, and the bridesmaid who got to ask for the change gave it to him and because of that, he made the change. It made my husband so happy, and his entire family cracked up over it, because they knew it was his favorite movie.

Jason with Island Sound DJs was a great choice for my event. He was personable and flexible and had worked with the HIghgrove before (which makes everything a lot easier). He provided us with head boppin' music that we had a chance to pick out ahead of time. No complaints with Jason or any of the professionals working with the Island Sound DJs. The only problem- there wasn't enough time to dance in our contract with our reception vendor :(

Jason was fabulous!!! He was able to get on the guests involved and I loved that everyone was dancing and having a wonderful time. Jason is professional and friendly!!! We loved our music and the reception.

i'll be honest - we were really nervous about hiring a dj. we had considered just putting play lists on our ipod but realized that it probably wouldn't be the best idea. we picked jason because his favorite music was the closest to our tastes. we were VERY controlling when it came to the music and jason was so accommodating. we gave him all of our cocktail hour music and dinner music, then some of the reception music. we were really adamant about keeping the cheese to a minimum and he did an awesome job of keeping the crowd going without resorting to the usual corny dj antics and songs. he even through in a few songs that he knew we'd like and we were thrilled with them! had a few "why didn't we put this on our must play list?" moments. the website also has some really cool tools to help plan your ceremony and reception. it's good to know that the dj has all of the information there. overall, we couldn't have been happier.

Allen was our DJ and he was awesome! He really knew how to get everyone out on the dance floor and played great songs!

The thing that I really loved was that I could add so many crazy songs to my hearts content. The DJ was awesome and actually helped us make the hodgepodge of freaky songs that I had compiled make sense. During dinner we had Richard Cheese playing and he had helped find some interesting tracks. He was well versed in music and had found some really obscures tracks that I had requested including our "first dance" which we didn't even have a copy of. Our party wasn't really big and rocking but we really had a great time and our DJ really supported everything.

We weren't super keen on DJs based on those we have seen at other events. That said, we met with several area DJs and kept coming back to Island Sound. We met with them to discuss our wedding and were impressed with their online forms to assist with planning the event, selecting the music, and do/don't playlists. The value was also very good compared with some other DJs we looked at, and while not the cheapest one we saw, they offered services that some of the smaller (by smaller we mean one-person) DJs couldn't offer, such as a backup DJ just in case something came up like traffic or weather. Peter, the DJ at our wedding was very professional & even matched his tie to our wedding colors. We were very pleased with their services, they did a great job with tailoring the music to our tastes & would defiiately recommend them to others.

Island Sound, and especially Jason our DJ, were wonderful. We went in not knowing what to expect and he was experienced and friendly enough to help us along the way. I loved the website that they have, which lets you constantly update the playlists, special songs, and bridal party names. He was great interacting with our guests and keeping things running smoothly on the wedding day. Jason made our guests laugh quite a few times with his sense of humor and seemed prepared for even the most unexpected. One of the highlights of the evening was the spontaneous "It's Raining Men" performance by our groomsmen that our guests still talk about. The price wasn't too bad for all that was included, and everything was set up wonderfully by the time we arrived. I would definitely recommend this company!

Our dj (jason) was fantastic! The vendor that was most important to me was to find a good dj. Jason was everything we wanted just by talking to him at the bridal show. He had an awesome down-to-earth personality, we knew right away he was our guy..haha. he was awesome to work with. Whatever we wanted, we got. He figured out our crowd and the music we liked. He kept it flowing, He had everyone participating. He did a great job! highly recommended

Joe did a great job for us. He was easy to work with, flexible and handled our reception well. We did not have a long enough reception to get in all the music we wanted. He did a great job of playing a variety and being flexible when we changed some timing or had requests. He got the guests up and dancing and we had a day wedding. Very nice guy would recommend to any bride.

Ryan was absolutely incredible! When we needed him for an extra hour to do the ceremony music because our musicians pulled out at the last minute he had absolutely no problem with accommodating our situation, and played the music for us perfectly- which was fairly complicated (we had several songs played throughout the ceremony) and required him downloading specific songs that weren't in his catalogue. During the reception all the guests thought he was great and he got pretty much everyone at our 70 guest wedding on the dance floor at some point in the course of the evening. He kept commenting that he thought it was great I knew exactly what I wanted played, but reality was- he was the one that made it so great and kept everyone entertained. I just pointed him in the right direction & let him go. We started off the cocktail hour with rat-pack classics, then slowly moved into more mainstream pop & classic oldies during dinner & the first part of dancing, then kicked it up with more charts & dance music as the night progressed and the older guests left. Island Sound also provided us with all the pink & blue uplights for the reception room which made the room look drop dead gorgeous! They were well worth the money!

Jason, from Island Sound, was awesome! When I had called the company to find a DJ that would fit our personalities, the manager recommended Jason and from the first meeting we knew it would be a perfect fit. He knew exactly what we wanted and had some great ideas to enhance the reception. The added uplighting that he brought was perfect for the space. His professionalism was outstanding and his laid back personality & go with the flow attitude was a perfect match for us. Jason, you rocked it!! Thanks.

We really like Island Sound when we first met with them, but we weren't blown away. We feel that they were just right for our wedding, but that they did not go beyond the general standard of things. He pronounced some names wrong, even after they were phonetically written out, and was a bit disorganized with the flow of events. He never emailed or asked me questions to better understand the things either. Overall, they were great at following the songs I picked. They just did not go above and beyond.

Ryan was our DJ. My husband and I had heard (and seen) many horrible DJ's and we knew that this was one of our most important decisions for the night. We interviewed several DJ's, but it was Island Sound that stood out in both value and personality. Ryan was PERFECT for our group. We sat in awe the day of our wedding and watched him take complete control of the room during dinner, introducing himself and systematically dismissing all the tables for the buffet. There was no traffic jam at the tables at all (which was also do to the clever arrangement of the tables by our venue as well). Then, when we got the night started, despite the fact that we hadn't given Ryan ALL the tools he needed for everything we were supposed to do (I forgot to give him a few details about my husband and I to use for a game at the beginning of the evening), he knew just what to do and none of my guests were any the wiser for it. The dance floor was always full. I've had numerous friends and relatives gush about how great the wedding and the DJ was and that they want me to provide a list of my vendors to do their events. Seriously, book Island Sound. They will take GREAT care of you.

Peter is great, he also was the DJ for my sisters wedding. He's very professional and helps cary the evening along. The web site is a bit confusing at first, but once you figure it out, is very helpful for planning your evening.

Jason, our DJ from Island Sound, did a great job. While planning the wedding, we weren't sure if our guests would dance or if we even needed a DJ. We sure are glad we decided to go for it! We had a lot of fun dancing. It was easy to pick songs ahead of time, and Island Sound was quite accommodating. We chose polkas, Hindi music, 80's music, jazz, country -- an eclectic mix -- and the dance floor was alive. For one song, Jason had all the guests form a circle around the bride and groom while playing "That's Amore." When "That's Amore" was sung, everyone moved toward us and gave us a big group hug. Fabulous! Remember, you are supposed to tip the DJ, and it's not cheap.

Cost = $850, including tip, to have Jason DJ during the cocktail hour and reception.

Island Sound did an absolutley AMAZING job at our reception!! We chose to pay tribute to the 1940s/early 50s at our reception. As part of our tribute, we used Island Sound's video screen service & they periodically played black & white concert footage from that era, like Dean Martin, Sinatra etc. (of course we provided them with the DVDs) When the screen wasn't being used for slideshows or concert footage, we just had them play an old Black & White movie in the background (which was really cool) while they pumped out a variety of jams that we requested. They played exactly what we requested--they never veered from our song request list.--They played a little somethin' for everyone--with of course a periodic tune from that Golden Era. Peter was an excellent master of ceremony as well. He truly paid attention to detail & kept us on track.Everyone commented on what a great job he did! Our reception did require extra time & effort on their part & we truly appreciate all the extra work they did to prepare for the reception. I would HIGHLY recommend Island Sound to anyone! They also videotaped our reception. Danny, aka Whitewater, our videographer, was so cool--he had a lot of fun with our crowd. UPDATE to this review on 3 6 09: We just got our wedding video back last week and we absolutely love it!! Whitewater did an excellent job: The video is so creative, well done, & professional. I was so impressed with the thought that went into it. Again, we love it & will treasure our wedding video always. We're so glad we had it done. Whitewater is very talented! Highly recommend!!!

Island Sound has a very reasonable package that includes both DJ and Video for your wedding. All the DJs are very personable and do a great job making sure the reception stays lively & fun... or however you want it! The DJs will ask you what kind of atmosphere you want at the reception, then will tone it down or tune it up to fit your plan! Plus they do dozens of weddings & events a month and are very efficient & on time.The wedding video we received was fantastic - WAY better than we ever expected! They provided 3 or 4 cameras at the wedding, placed a microphone on my groom so that we could hear everything during the ceremony. At the reception they were EVERYWHERE catching all the important & fun moments... however I hardly ever remember seeing them at all! They definitely know how to get the good shots without getting in the way of the guests or other vendors. Be sure to ask them about the "Groom Cam" too... very fun idea!I'd recommend Island Sound in a heartbeat. If you want good service for reasonable prices, this is perfect for you!

We had an absolutely amazing reception thanks to Colin. He kept the dance floor absolutely packed the entire night. My husband and I had a hard time picking out songs for everything (we didn't even realize until our meeting just how many songs you need to pick out) but when we sat down with Colin he gave us some great suggestions. People are still talking about our non-traditional recessional music :) Everything was perfect!

These guys helped us make it through the reception because we had no idea of when we should be doing what, and they helped us make it seamless. The videographers were personable and funny, sometimes seemed a little in your face. Anyone who was around my husband and I were immediately surrounded by cameras, but I guess it comes with the territory. At one point one of the videographers was lying in the middle of the dance floor to get his shots. It was pretty funny. The music selection was great, blended well to please everyone. The music and speakers weren't too loud, so people could talk to each other without yelling, which was a huge bonus. These guys will help you keep things moving along and still give you the option to do things your way.

We were so pleased with the DJ. He read the crowd well and new how to transition between different types of music to appease the variety of people at the wedding. He kept the party going and really got people dancing and having a good time. We were a little concerned since this was the half the price of most DJ's in the area, but we could not have been more pleased. Affordable and so great, we felt so lucky!

Everyone with Island Sound did a fantastic job with our wedding! We had Collin as our DJ and Danny as the head videographer. From our first meeting with Collin we were set at ease by his great personality and ability to pick up on the exact reception style that we wanted. Since our families are so different and half of the guests were Southern and half were Northern we wanted a good mixture of music. Needless to say our dance floor was ALWAYS packed and everyone joined in the festivities. In addition Danny was a fabulous videographer! He was always there at the important moments and made sure that he was aquainted with everyone from the rehearsal dinner throughout the entire wedding. Its wonderful to have a videographer that stays within a reasonable distance and follows all the best and funniest moments. I would recommend their company to everyone!

We had such a great time with Colin at our reception. He played/did exactly as we asked him to and was fun as well. I would recommend them to anyone!

these guys were amazing! Our dj Colin was so easy to work with, and was very personable. He sat down with us several times to go over everything we wanted and was excellent at the event. They even found a few hard to find songs for us that we wanted played. They are above and beyond and priced great! We got the large package which included a videographer too!

This was by far the best of my venues. The DJ was fun and organized and ran the whole reception for me. The videographer was great too. He taped footage of everything I would have taped myself, even some really funny bonus footage! I highly recommend them!

They were great to work with. The reception was upbeat and fun with Collin at the helm. Everyone has said it was the most fun they've ever had at a reception! We hardly even noticed that the videographer was there. They got us the video in a timely manner and we were able to add and delete scenes we wanted. They were great to work with!

All around I was quite happy with Island Sound Deejays. Both DJs were very professional and did a great mix of songs I had selected and songs they had at the ready. We had a dry reception, so music was all-important! They had lots of energy and the guests really enjoyed themselves.

Island Sound does an excellent job of sending the right DJ for the individual events. They meet withclients ahead of time to go over their playlist and are always pleasant to work with. I would highly recommend them. They did a wonderful job at my daughter's wedding and are going to be doing my son's in February of 2012. What a great bunch of DJs! They know how to give your wedding and reception just the right musical backdrop and have a HUGE playlist to pull from. They can accommodate any style wedding or event and any kind of music requests you might throw at them. And they are really nice guys, besides.
