J&L Catering was recommended to us by a friend and was one of the preferred caterers offered by our venue. Our initial quote was out of our price range and the offerings not what we were looking for so we pretty much counted them out. Our guests don't need foie gras, really. After having a couple so-so tastings we were a little bummed that we were going to have to sacrifice quality to save a few dollars, but after our friend urged us to have a tasting with J&L we were so glad we did.

After showing the planner what we were having at our other tastings, she prepared a new menu of items we'd want to serve to our guests. First off, the tasting was awesome. They prepared a ton of food. And then actually packed up our leftovers for us to take home! The food was above and beyond what we'd tasted before. And, knowing we were on a budget, our planner worked with us as much as possible to meet at a price we could all agree on.

We really appreciated the time and effort put in by everyone to get us everything we wanted, even swapping dishes last minute when we rethought an asian salad dish. And our planner was also to act as a day-of-coordinator making sure not only was the food good to go, but also that tables and decor were set up as well. The one downside was that our first-in-line planner couldn't attend day of due to illness but her assistant was there in her place, fully up to speed on everything that was going on. Also we'd had plenty of notice that this might happen so we'd already met her and were fine with the change.

We really enjoyed working with J&L, they were professional and very flexible with us. The food was a success and highly recommended if you want high quality food without pretension or stuffiness.

J & L Catering and owner Ted Grady were a class act and the food was to die for. We received so many compliments on the food and Hors d'oeuvres. We would recommend J&L to anyone looking for the highest quality, best catering service in the Chicago area.

Thank goodness for J&L catering. The food tasted great and was elegantly served. Jim Bailey coordinated our event. Jim offered great advice and took care of everything. He was invaluable. They were reasonably priced too!

Scott and the J & L staff were absolutely amazing! We custom designed our entire menu with them and they executed it perfectly. We had so many compliments on our food - it was perfect!
