Our DJ Jason did a great job! Initially we had asked him just to play some American Standards like Sinatra, and he had a great selection available. Guests had several requests that weren't on our playlist, and he checked with us first to make sure it was ok with us that he play them. Guests were dancing all night long and had a blast. He had a really good selection, and was able to get all the obscure songs we asked for. He even handed us 2 copies of a CD that contained about 20 songs we had asked to be played. He was very professional and we were very happy with him.

Affordable and fun! Our DJ was so helpful and made our reception a blast! Thank you so much for being there on our special day and helping make it one of the best days of our lives :)

I am a huge fan of music and have been for a very long time. I believe music can enlighten any atmosphere and turn sadness into joy. It was especially important to have great music for my wedding. We were referred to Jay by our wedding planner, & boy were we NOT disappointed! We purchased the package that included Mr. Jay himself as our DJ. He was worth every penny!!!! Our wedding occurred almost 2 months ago & people are still commenting on the DJ. The music was fabulous and continued this beautiful pace throughout the wedding. He is totally awesome & the radio/TV voice that he has is an awesome bonus. Thank you for filling our day with fun-filled and romantic much. You won over everyone that was there!

We loved Mike as our DJ! He met with us a couple days before and we spent 2 hours going over all the music and details of the wedding. Mike was great at keeping the things moving as well as making it all about us. The music was great and our guests didn't stop dancing all night!

Kalib Moyer of Jay Maxwell's Music By Request did an amazing job DJing our wedding! We indicated songs that we liked on the very diverse list provided to us & Kalib was able to pick the perfect songs on our wedding night without having to explicitly tell him, song by song. He kept the party going until the very end, which was important to us, as the party ended on a high note rather than fizzling out. He was also great in managing the flow of the event together with the caterers, so that everything ran smoothly. The music was great to dance to and just right in terms of volume. Kalib was very helpful over the phone for a consultation. He was also very prompt in replying to all emails and phone calls.

The overall service we received was phenomenal. We wouldn't change a thing about having chosen Kalib and would gladly have him DJ another event for us.

Darius and Jay Maxwell were wonderful to work with. They were very prompt in returning calls and emails and being available for questions leading up to the wedding. Jay did a wonderful job mixing music for me for my dance medley with my father. Darius, our DJ, was extremely professional, prompt, and easy to work with. He played everything I wanted and did not play anything that I did not want. He looked professional and definitely got the party rocking with his music selections. He did an amazing job. I would highly recommend Darius and the entire Jay Maxwell team for any event in which a DJ is requested.

We were in town for two days trying to find vendors for our wedding. We met with Jay for 15 minutes and never considered anyone else. The music was great! All my favorite songs were played and the guests danced all night! Jay was very well organized, reasonably priced and was great at communicating.

Jay and his crew were awesome. They really kept my wedding guests entertained and with all the different changes Jay was able to keep up. He really helped the overall flow of the reception and did a great job communicating with us. Jay also played every song that we requested and at the last min we cut out our father daughter mother so dances but Jay played the songs later in the evening and we ended up dancing with our parents after all. Jay was awesome if I ever had other events in charleston I would absolutely use him.

Excellent DJ. Jay was very organized and a lot of fun. Plus, he gave us a CD with all of our important music on it (first dance, ceremony song, last dance)! One of my friends sang during the ceremony and he took care of her music and mike and also amplified the officiant for us.

Our DJ was Rhett & our package included the ceremony & reception. He was great, he really tried to get people on the dance floor. He play the types of music & specific songs that we requested. They have a great workbook of songs to help you plan your ceremony/reception. He also gave us a cd of our music at the end of the night....such a nice touch.

How blessed we were to have Rhett from Jay Maxwell's Music By Request! Let me first start by saying that we were on such a tight budget but music was such an important part of our big day. Rhett was so prompt in always calling back and even made time to meet with me only days after a death in his own family. The level of professionalism from Rhett was unparalleled. He had everything set up for our outdoor wedding, and it was an amazing uninterrupted transition to our indoor reception. I assumed that all a DJ did for a wedding was play music and hopefully people would dance. Not so with this company. They go over EVERY detail from your ceremony until you leave. We were introduced with our bridal party and everyone's names were correctly pronounced. We went right into the first dance, etc. and the night was flowing really smoothly. Rhett even planned with us in advance to stand near the cake during the toast so that we could transition right into cutting the cake. I have received so many praises from the wedding guests about Rhett and the great music he played. The bottom line is that I would recommend Rhett and Jay Maxwell's Music By Request to anyone looking for a quality DJ who truly goes above and beyond.

The DJ (Andy) from Jay Maxwell's service was outstanding. Not only very friendly and professional, but also played a good selection of music basic on our requests. He also was wonderful about feeding off the crowd, choosing music that not only got the party involved, but kept them there. Andy from Jay Maxwell's Music by Request was outstanding. Jay Maxwell's Music by Request was the perfect choice for our wedding music. They provided music for our outdoor ceremony with a very seamless system - I never saw any wires and only heard the beautiful music as I walked down the aisle. He also did my reception music. It was a great blend of both requests (pre determined/approved) and space fillers (between the toasts, prescribed dances, etc.). They followed up with us prior to the ceremony to be sure that all names of the wedding party were pronounced correctly, the order of events was understood and the song versions were correct. They even made suggestions for our exit and "best ways" to do things that we didnt think of! They are definitely the professional who knows how to do it right! We were more than pleased! We definitely chose the right DJ!

It felt as if we were family! They were very professional and made sure everything was perfect. The wedding would not have been as special if we had used anyone else. I requested Mike for my DJ. He was AMAZING!!! He sat down with my husband and I and went through the entire ceremony. He kept everything moving ontime, kept everyone dancing, so I could keep my peace of mind! I can't say enough great things about him. He was perfect from start to finish! He gave me a copy of all music played at my reception, he told me where to be and when to be there. I had people coming up to me weeks after the wedding complimenting him. He has a great announcing voice, great personality, and isn't the schmoozy DJ that some can be. Email or call Jay Maxwell and ask for him!!! You won't find a better DJ.

We had Jay himself and he was great! He was very reasonable price wise and very professional and kept the ceremony and the reception on time. We mapped out all the music for the ceremony and other events and he had all the songs we requested. Everyone had a great time on the dance floor thanks to him.

I read so many good reviews for this company myself that I didn't bother to interview any others. After meeting with Jay I signed a contract right away. I was very pleased with their communication and prompt responses. They were very professional and I was quite pleased with their service. My wedding went off without a hitch and Rhett was a great MC! Jay, his wife Donna, and our DJ Rhett, were beyond fantastic! They were accommodating in every way and made our wedding everything we dreamed it could be. They went above and beyond in many ways. They made it possible to have my friend play the cello during our outdoor ceremony, they cut several tracks for me to be able to sing to my husband during our reception, and Rhett even introduced me in a very meaningful way. The best compliment that I can give them is that we had wedding guest, after wedding guest say the were "upset" with Rhett because he was playing such great music, that we hardly ever left the dance floor, and by the end of the night, we were all exhausted! They played a huge role in making our wedding day unforgettable!!

Rhett was super easy to work with, totally understood what type of event we wanted and I never worried about the music at all. The volume was perfect so everyone could talk at a normal level, and he made all the necessary announcements and everything went great. Highly recommend him!

Jay was absolutely fantastic! He understood our quirky ideas and loved the jazz theme for the ceremony. He did a fantastic job in making sure the reception was going smoothly and kept everything on time!

The DJ was very helpful when we first met to go over music selections and offered his suggestions. He showed up an hour before the guests were expected to arrive to set up and make sure the reception site had everything he would need. He stayed true to our music selection and would tell our guests that the bride and groom requested not to play a song if they attempted to request it.

They were friendly, helpful, and responsive from our very first contact, and they definitely provided the "WOW!" they promised! Jay Maxwell was one of the most professional and helpful vendors we had at our wedding. His DJ services were outstanding. Anything we asked, he went above and beyond to do. If he did not have a song or the version that you wanted he would look until he found it for you, he made our ceremony and reception flow so perfectly and every single guest of ours talked about how fun and perfect our wedding was, which could not have been accomplished with out him. We feel like we hit the DJ jackpot with Nick! I have had countless people comment on how awesome our reception music was and how perfectly things seemed to flow. Nick was spot on with his music playlist- and kept the dance floor packed ALL night. I loved how we had a brief meeting with Nick before our wedding day and we gave him a few suggestions about the genres of music that we liked- and he took the ball and ran with it.

I think we have all been to a wedding reception and the DJ was a bit cheesy- Nick could not have been any different than that- he was fun, engaging, and energetic.

We were very pleased with the wedding DJ, Mike, that Jay Maxwell provided. He went out of his way to meet with us ahead of time to discuss the playlist in detail. We were very specific with what we wanted and had songs picked out for each part of the evening. Mike catered to our every need and our guests had a wonderful time.

Jay himself was the DJ at our wedding and I couldn't be happier. During the consultation process he went over every detail of the night to make sure it was just the way I wanted it. He even has a master list of most popular songs, which helped us determine what was on our must play list. He makes sure to play the songs you want and omits the ones you hate. He went above and beyond by giving us CDs of all the songs that were played at our wedding so that we can go back and reminisce on our anniversary.

This was by far one of the best DJ's we have ever heard play at a Wedding. Everyone at our wedding only had positive things to say when asked for their honest opinion. Jay never put the spotlight on himself and was all about serving us on our day which is exactly what you want. Not invasive, but very much doing his job. We had Rhett as our DJ. He is, as Jay described him, his top DJ, would be second in comand if he had a partner. He was great and did a great job of following the song list we provided and the order in which we wanted the reception to flow. He was very nice and I would use him again. He didn't have a big sign up on his table trying to promote the company like I have seen other DJ's do which I think is very tacky and he wore a tux rather than khakis and a polo. It was a very polish look and demeanor. Hats off to him!

We had DJ Rhett, booked through Jay Maxwell Music and he was great. We had several guests compliment us about our choice in DJ after the reception. He kept the crowd moving without using the cheesey DJ moves like playing the electric slide or having theme dances. We didn't have to be really specific about what we wanted either, because he already knew what would work and what wouldn't. My husband and I knew nothing about what good songs or dance music would be good, so we left it up to him and it worked out well. The money for the value is great too. Jay Maxwell offers different prices for different budgets and gave us a good deal due to having an off-season wedding.

I had an initial meeting with the DJ for my wedding in the home of the owner of the business. It was an informal meeting, but it made both my husband and I feel comfortable and made us know that the DJ really cared about the music we had chosen for our wedding day. We had a special request for our DJ to play CDs of ours since the music that we listen to is not heard on the radios here (it is in another language). The DJ was very accommodating and did a great job mixing the music in with our English music selections. He was attentive to the activities going on (he caught the kids digging into my cake before it was cut) and helped find someone who could fix it before it turned into a disaster. The services are well priced for the quality of service that is received.

We had Rhett from Jay Maxwell's DJ business. Rhett was very funny and a great DJ to all, but there were some things that I wish he could have done better. For example, we went through all of the wedding party's pronunciation of names before the wedding, but he still pronounced them wrong. He also introduced my sister as the best man and my brother as the maid of honor, even though I had everything written down for him on a worksheet he gave me to fill out. Also, we planned on having a moment after cutting the cake when I would dedicate my bouquet to my mom, but he forgot to do this and I ended up giving her my bouquet at the end of the night, when no one was around. Rhett's choice of music was okay: he played a lot of songs that my husband and I just simply didn't like. Although our guests were dancing all night long, I wished that the music selection was better. However, I highly recommend choosing Jay Maxwell as your DJ service because Jay Maxwell himself is an awesome DJ. Go for this company, just don't pick Rhett as your DJ if you're worried about things not going perfect.

Jay Maxwell is one of my favorite DJ's in all of Charleston. I liked him from the moment I met him. Jay can play any type of music that you want at your wedding or event and he really knows how to get a party started. One the areas that Jay excels at that might not be appreciated by brides until after their wedding, is the planning he puts into the music and organizing the wedding party prior to the wedding. Jay has all the songs from first dance to bouquet toss planned out and ensures he has these available well in advance. Jay also works with his clients and with planners to ensure the timeline is laid out the way they want it and not just the way the venue alway does it. Jay is a true professional and when I recommend him to my brides I am absolutely certain 1. He will respond to the bride in a timely manner. 2. He will play the music the bride wants. 4. If one of his assistants is booked rather than himself they will be every bit as professional as he is. 5. He will know where the venue is located, where to offload, what time he is expected, how he is to dress and how to pronounce the wedding party's names. He is a joy to work with!
