Jennifer Tai Photo Artistry
Our experience with Jennifer Tai was wonderful!
I had surprised my fiance with an elopement after he had half jokingly requested to be married for his birthday. This was no small task. It took a great deal of planning and communication to make everything play out as perfectly as it did.
Jennifer was an integral player in pulling off such an endeavor. She went to extreme lengths to document the suspense and excitement of the event and beautifully captured the emotions of our ceremony. Jenn's photos made the wonderfully surreal nature of our day tangible for all of our family and friends unable to be present. Her images will always serve as a blessed reminder of a magical time in our marriage.
Jenn, you have our gratitude and appreciation; thank you for everything.

Jennifer Tai shot my wedding and we couldn't have possibly had a better experience. From the get go she made me feel very confident and comfortable, very prompt customer service and an all around great person. I think her work sells itself, really. But as an added bonus she has a great sense of humor and was a great personality to wor...k with. You can tell she loves her job and takes a lot of pride in her work.
On my wedding day she showed up an hour earlier than she was scheduled to so she could have more time to take the shots she wanted to get. We had a bunch of outdoor photos planned, it being August and all, but we ended up with non-stop rain. She worked through it like a pro and took great photos in places inside the house that I would have never thought would be a good place for a photo, and they turned out great. She managed to make the wall of the tent in the yard look like the wall of a church with a window. We did get a slight break in the rain after the ceremony and she and her husband grabbed us and took us out to the park nearby and in just 30 minutes she got the most amazing shots. She took photos of everything, and her photo journalistic style really captured the emotions of the day. When my husband and I looked at all the photos for the first time I cried. She had captured the emotional moments so well that I relived them as I was looking at them.
I would recommend her 110% and we couldn't be happier with our wedding photos.

Thank you so much, Whitney!!
Jennifer Tai Photography is hands down one of the best vendors we've worked with! She has impeccable taste, great professionalism, and has the utmost respect for the people that she works with. If we had to choose all over again, hands down we would definitely select her. Her punctuality and professionalism combined with her amazing photographic artistry makes her the perfect match for a couple who wants the perfect of perfectionism. Her artistic view on wedding/engagement photos shines through in every single picture she takes and photographs. We would recommend her to anyone and everyone not just in wedding photography or engagement photography; but for baby's first year, event photography, etc. She's awesome!!!

Thanks Jenn! This is just, wow. I am very honored and humbled by your response and wish Randy and you all the best. Let me know if I can ever be of service again!
For me, the mark of a great photographer, is when you continue to use her images in your marketing for years to come! Jennifer did a beautiful job at our Karma Vineyard Winery wedding in 2011. She was easy to work with, present, professional and the follow up and continued communication post event has been so consistent. I would love to work with her again!
I was just saying this to a client of mine yesterday who is in the process of hiring a photographer for their wedding: "You won't go wrong in choosing Jenn Tai. Her work is timeless, yet current, and she sheerly enjoys what she does. She is an artist in the moment - a truly inspired and inspiring photographer."
Jennifer is great to work with. Her photos are fresh and her perspective unique. She uses her whole environment for great picture opportunities. I look forward in working with her again.
Jennifer Tai is truly an artist! We love working with creative and fun spirited photographers! Her work is artistic and she captures each moment effortlessly! We appreciate Jennifer's modern aesthetic and highly recommend Jennifer Tai Photo Artistry!
Jennifer was the photographer at an outdoor wedding that I officiated recently. A few things were immediately obvious. She loved her job, cared about what she was doing, and was very professional and knowledgeable. She helped position the wedding party to get the best light, background views, and easy access to all views of the wedding. Throughout the service she was constantly moving, getting the scene from all angles, but doing it unobtrusively. After the service she was careful to hit all of the memory points with pictures - signing the documents, the couple together, the couple with the wedding party, the couple with their children, etc. She had a good mix of candid shots, and positioned shots to get the best light. She processed the pictures quickly, and had a blog post with pictures up on the internet in less than 2 days. The quality of the pictures was excellent. You just can't ask for more from a wedding photographer.
Anyone can take a picture with any camera, even your friends cousin. For photographs that capture emotions you need a professional. Jennifer is a true artist, capturing emotions while telling the story of your wedding day. Timeless images to cherish for years. Oh, and she is great fun to work with!
I have had the pleasure to work with Jennifer for many weddings. I am always delighted when I know that she is documenting with her gorgeous photography. She amazes me and her clients with how she is able to capture all the elements of the day--- from the range of emotions to all the tiny details. Truly an artist!

I try not to book over 20 to keep my vision and perspectives fresh - and to keep from creatively burning out!
What is your photography style?
My style is a mix of portraiture and photojournalism. I love creating portraits on film on your big day, but also thoroughly enjoy capturing all the candid moments on digital. Together with my second photographer, we try and create a meaningful photo essay of your wedding day with our collective vision, which is romantic, soft yet refreshingly candid and oftentimes lighthearted :)
Who will be your second photographer?
Seattle photographers are a tight-knit group, as well as the Fearless Photographers association I belong to. Most of my photography colleagues have their own businesses and have over four years of wedding photography experience. Who I get depends on availability (and someone is ALWAYS available - we have no shortage of awesome photographers here in Seattle!). Trust that JTPA only hires the best!
How many images do we receive from our wedding?
It depends on the length of the day, the number of locations involved and the number of your guests, but you can expect no less than 500.
When will we get our photos?
Around 4-6 weeks during wedding season, which is from June to October of each year, or 3-4 weeks during the slower months. For albums, it's 4-6 weeks after your images are made available.
What file type do you photograph in? RAW or JPEG?
Since I shoot partly film, images are in high res JPG scans. For my digitals, I shoot in RAW and deliver in high res finished JPGs.
Do you bring assistants to your wedding?
I always try to have an assistant with me, but it is largely dependent on length of the wedding.
I shoot medium format film, and this medium has a soft, buttery quality about it I find hard to achieve on digital. Despite its limitations (only B&W in low light situations because the highest ISO film has is 800), film has a nostalgic and romantic quality which I intend to share with my clients for as long as it is around - which may not be long!
Do you bring back-up equipment?
Definitely! I bring at least four camera bodies with me to any wedding, not including the equipment my second shooter has, and a myriad of the best professional lenses money can buy. All in all, we are looking at $15k worth of gear each time we head out!
You are based in Seattle… Would you travel to be our wedding photographer?
Most assuredly. We travel internationally!
How long have you been a photographer?
I have been a professional photographer for four years, since August 2008. I was a tech journalist for 12 years before that :)
How do we reserve you for our wedding?
Once we have come to an agreement for what you need, I will draw up an online proposal which you can look through and digitally sign online. Once the retainer is made, you are golden. Your date will be secured and nothing else will be booked on that date or dates, if it is a destination wedding.
Do you take credit cards?
We accept all major modes of payment.
Do you offer albums?
Yes. After your wedding, samples will be made available during our post-wedding consult.
What is the online gallery good for?
This is a GREAT invention that makes it simple for you to share your wedding images with family and guests. We will email you a link and password, and once you've seen all these images yourself, you can choose to share it with anyone by sharing the link and password. Friends and family can purchase prints and digital images themselves directly from the gallery and we will fulfill them directly.
Do you have an full wedding galleries we can have a look at?
Yes! We have obtained permission from the following clients so you can have a look at their full galleries so you can get an idea of what you're getting:
Emily and Justin, wed August 2012
Have you won any photography awards?
I have had the good fortune to win Junebug's Best of the Best Wedding Photography of 2012 recently, and several Fearless Photographer awards. These awards are as prestigious as they come and I count my lucky stars everyday for them :)
