GIA does not assign any monetary value to the diamond, just specific measurements and quality grades, useful when identifying a particular diamond vs. any other. Our gemologists check every diamond to ensure our minimum quality is met. This does not apply to watches.Q: Why do I only see a millimeter (mm) size on colored stones and not an exact carat weight?Colored stone cutting is not an exact science. When listing a piece of colored stone jewelry we guarantee a minimum millimeter size. Most colored stones are bought and sold according to a calibrated millimeter size because carat weights can vary widely.Q: I already have my ring, how can I tell which mountings will work with it?If you already have a ring mounting (semi-mount), use the prong spacing to help narrow the diamond selection. If you don’t have the prong spacing, most jewelers will measure it for you. Ask for not only the prong measurement, but also an estimate in carats and the diamond shapes that will work with your ring.
