Reviews for Jobyna's Bridal and Tuxedo
Jobyna's... I decided to make an appointment at the store since it was "the knot's pick". The dresses there are "couture" and they're all very beautiful but a little pricey for me. The cheapest dress i tried on was a little less than $2k..My experience there was very disappointing...The consultant kept on pushing me dresses that were over my budget (like $3-4k!). When i would talk to my mom in japanese she'll butt in and keep on asking me what i/my mom said and ask to translate- uhh, how annoying! She wouldn't even help me into the dresses I was trying on! She'll just pass me a dress and say "here, try this on".. really?? When leaving, i asked her to write down the style # of dresses that i liked but she replied to me "why? what do you need them for?", she just wrote the description & prices. *rolling eyes* Oh yah, and no pictures are allowed- Maybe the girl was just having a bad day and wanted to go home already (i came in late but i left 1 minute before closing!) But it will be highly unlikely that I will buy my dress from Jobyna's.
I had a similar experience as amorechapel. I stopped by the store on a Sunday and not knowing the store hours, I knocked on the front door because a sales lady was there. She peeked out and told me that I had to call to talk to someone. I called the store the following day, they asked for my budget and I told them what it was. The lady said that they only carry dresses $2,000 and above. They didn't even offer to work with my budget or help me.
I attended a bridal trunk show. Even with the trunk, I agree that the store can be restricting [5 racks I think?]. The sales woman was helpful, a very involved shop owner. She had great advice to offer, however I do agree with the pushy comments. The payment of 60% upfront with 10% then $75 for the alterations appointment were too much for me to take in the end, and I wasn't sure of the dress.
Also, I was offered the 10% trunk show discount AFTER the younger woman offered 12% off then apologized for overstatement. I attended the trunk show and both the stylist for the company and shop owner wouldn't let me try on others that I came to view after I found two that I liked. They just kept saying "You won't like it.." Unfortunately, I like a wide range of dresses and am the type of person that has to try it to get it out of my mind and like making that decision for myself.
Showed up on time for my appointment and was ignored by the two sales girls for about 15 minutes. When taken in for consultation, the sales girl was very helpful, brought out many styles that worked with my body and provided honest feedback. I went in to look at a specific style but she helped me keep an open mind about other dresses. They do carry higher end designers with big price tags- I was looking for a Lazaro gown, so yes, the dresses are expensive.
When I felt like I found "the one" the sales girl was ready to close the deal- I didn't like feeling rushed in to making that very important decision. I like to think about it (but I know, she's trying to make a sale). I told them I wanted the dress but had to think about it. Since I didn't live in the area, they filled out a sales slip and sized me for the dress. The girl measured me for the dress and according to the size chart I was a 10, but the sample dress was a 10 and was HUGE on me. The salesgirl measured me 3 times and looked at the dress 3 times to confirm. The owner came over and said "the dress is streatched order the 10". I was not confortable ordering the bigger size since it clearly (even if a bit streatched) would have been too big for me). So they made me sign off that I wanted the size 8. She said she would call me, but I didn't get a call from her for over a month! Guess she didn't want the sale that badly. I ended up finding the gown on ebay for much less.
Over all the shop carries high end designers and the service was good though they seemed a bit disorganized. I ended up getting my dress elsewhere but if I was going to pay full price I would consider buying from them.
I went to Jobyna's for a pre-sample sale. I have to admit that the salespeople were really friendly, but also pretty pushy. My budget was $1500, but they tried to convince that I had to have a $4000 gown. Once I made it clear that I didn't like that dress, they were still pretty pushy with getting me to buy another gown. Overall, I didn't think they had a very big selection and I wasn't very comfortable there.
In a nutshell: pretty limited selection, pushy, and overpriced.
The younger salesgirl that worked with me was pretty nice, but there was an older woman who kept popping in to comment on the dresses and try to sway me toward more expensive ones. She'd bring ones in that looked NOTHING like my description of what I wanted, and insist "Just try it on, you'll thank me afterward!"
I ended up falling in love with a dress there, but not buying it because I wasn't sure I wanted to pay the $2200 price tag. I am SO glad that I didn't, because I found the exact same dress for $1500 at another salon (La Soie in Torrance)!
My experience in the store was not all that bad or unexpected, BUT I have been getting calls/voicemails from them at least once a month since that day. I keep telling them to please take me off their calling list because I've already bought a gown elsewhere. I got a voicemail a couple of weeks ago saying "If you already have a gown, Miss Musey, just TELL us so we don't have to keep wasting our time calling someone who never calls us back!" I was highly offended, especially since I'd already told them repeatedly that I DID have a gown and to take me off the list. The nerve!
I walked into Jobyna's and the absolute first thing the rep said to me was "what is your budget." When I told her I was unsure, she told me to try going to a discount bridal house. In addition, my MOH had originally ordered her wedding dress from Jobyna's and had a horrible time once they took her money. She ended up finally taking her dress, unaltered, from Jobyna's and going to Yelena Bridal in Monrovia to do the alterations.
I bought my bridal gown from there a few months ago. I had a great experience, the sales girls were nice and I got a good deal. They did tell me that the alterations are a little bit pricy but it was sooooo worth it. The seamstress made the gown fit me like it was made for me!!!! I have nothing but good things to say about them. Go in on a sample sale day or a trunk show day you get a better discount....
I think this store was so charming and personal. All the other bridal salons I went to were huge and no one cared about the bride. When I walked into Jobynas the sales girl was so nice to me. She really took the time to ask me about my wedding, what I wanted to look like and what my dream dress was going to be. She was creative and tried to help me make the gown personal and custom to me and my needs. I was very impressed by her happy energy and willingness to assist me in any way. I bought the dress after my third visit. The girl was so nice, never pushy and always polite. I felt relaxed and at ease. I ended up purchasing the bridesmaids gowns and renting the tuxedos from them also!!! I just want to say thank you to all of them for making this day so special for me.
Jobynas was highly recommended by friends and lived up to it. I know if they were to make a mistake like of course all humans do they would fix it. the one thing all these blogs i have read say is about the alteration price. jobynas explained to me that the prices in alterations vary and it depends on the amount of work and the gown there are no set prices for alterations. If brides just understood this there would be no mix up at all. If a store offers you FREE alterations or include it in the price you should RUN RUN and not look back. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. and for the record jobynas had the gown i bought for the lowest price out of any other bridal salon. If you want service and quality this is the place. Good luck!!
I had a horrible experience at Jobyna's! I went there during a trunk show and fell in love with my dress. The saleslady offered my a %10 discount if I bought it then and said alterations would probably be around $200. I immediately took the deal because it sounded too good to be true.... unfortunately it was. I paid for the dress when it came in and asked about alterations. This time she quoted me $400 which shocked me. I think she saw that I was hesitant and told me that I should go through with the appointment and if I didn't like what I heard then I could take it somewhere else. I did and upon the alteration appointment, the price increased to $420. When I said I was going to take me dress elsewhere she said she'd charge me a $75 holding fee on my dress since I had the appointment! Needless to say I did not pay their holding fee and took my dress somewhere else where we discovered that the seamstress, who had been putting the pins in her mouth, and gotten thin pink lines of lipstick all over my dress! To make matters worse, the tulle of the dress smelled like fish and when I brought it up, they completely ignored me and refused to admit it. Run away from Jobyna's! They're awful!
I had a wonderful experience at Jobyna's bridal. They were very helpful and educated me a lot on gowns and bridesmaids. I bought my dress, bridesmaids, shoes, tiara, earrings, tux and had my alterations done by them as well. I went to over 12 stores and Jobyna's had the best services and prices. They have many wonderful gowns that are priced at 5K-6K but guess what YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. The dress I bought cost $1,700 and everyone that has seen it absolutely loves it. I am as happy as can be and I hope everyone can at least experience the quality of Jobyna's service. They do ask for your budget because they want to help you stay within that budget they understand the concept of saving money and they sales associate had my best interest at heart. They were wonderful and helped me find the gown of my dreams.
I had seen that this shop was a "knot pick", and even though I found my same dress at another shop in Pasadena where it was $50.00 cheaper, I decided to buy from a small business owner. Boy was that a mistake! The staff was rude, and misquoted just about every possible price they gave me. Upon ordering my dress, I was told to just put a deposit down, and that I could pay my balance when the dress came in which would be about 3 months later. When the dress arrived at the shop, I was notified that I could come pick it up and pay the balance. I literally sent in the FULL balance of the dress with a check THAT same day. A few weeks later, both my mom and I started receiving HORRIBLE messages from the shop saying that I was violating my contract with them because they have not received payment, and that they are going to use my credit card that I purchased jewelry from the store earlier with. After receiving a few of these messages, I confirmed with the bank that they had cashed my check three days after I had sent it in. I dreaded each of my alteration visits... I cannot tell you the amount of time the lady literally STUCK me in the back with the pins drawing blood, or even better, during my last fitting, just 2 days before my wedding, I noticed that the cups that they sewed into my dress were showing from the side profile. They were completely annoyed when my soon to be mother in law asked them to fix it. Then after paying $250 more than I was quoted for the alterations, I had assumed that I did not need to worry about anything else in regards to the way the dress fit. WRONG AGAIN. The front of the dress was altered so horribly that I was tripping on my dress as I was walking around the DAY of my wedding. About 5 minutes before my walk down the aisle, my bridesmaids started fixing my dress with safety pins and double sided tape!!!! It gets better... After the ceremony, my bustle did not work the way they told me, and half of my dress was left down for my to slip on the entire night. The wedding coordinator had NEVER seen such SLOPPY work before! That says A LOT! I later called the shop to give them a chance to make it right, but they told me that "this has never happened before", like that is suppose to make me feel better? The owner went on to say that she would need me to bring the dress in for her to inspect, but that I could only come during the day Monday through Friday... She truly expected me to take MORE time out of my work schedule for HER mistake. She also blamed me for not telling the alterations lady that the dress was too long. I am not a professional bride.. I did not know that I should walk around the store. THEY had me stand on a little box and she measured from there. She is the professional, and should have known how to check to make sure a dress fits properly before sending it out. To say the least, I never went back. The thought of having to see and deal with the staff at the shop was not worth any credit. I WOULD NOT recommend this shop to ANYONE! You do not want the headache!!!
I went to this bridal shop after finding dresses I liked on The Knot, which directed me to this vendor as a seller for these particular dresses. When I called to make an appointment, I was specific about my price range, and the website even advertised a huge "blow out" sale. But when I arrived at the store I was told they didn't have anything under $2000, and $1000 was my budget. They told me to try things on anyway, maybe we could work out something with a sample. I showed them pictures of what I was interested in, and described what I didn't want. They kept bringing me what I didn't want, just trying to get a sale. Then one salesgirl says she can think of 5 dresses I would love that they have at their other location, which sells samples at discounted prices so I set up an appointment for later in the week. After driving an hour and a half to get there, I am told they don't have what I want, sorry to waste my time. This place is awful, the selection is limited, and service is horrible.
