Oh my...I will do my best to explain what a great job they did here, but the proof is in the pudding and they certainly came through. It's one thing to take pictures of inanimate object like rings and shoes. It's a completely different challenge to take the feelings of each moment and save them in a photograph. Joel and Cara have a unique style about their photos and I wanted them to shoot our special day.Somewhat uncommonly, we decided not to meet with Joel prior to the wedding. We talked with him on the phone several times however and put together a rough schedule for the wedding that included a block of time prior to the ceremony for photos. Our ceremony and reception took place on a yacht leaving the Sausalito harbor and Joel suggested we go up into the Marin Headlands for pre-ceremony photos. One would expect hundreds of pictures of the bride and groom with the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco in the distance. We got a couple quick photos with the Bridge and city behind us, but Joel also took us to some unique spots off the beaten path that turned out awesome in the pictures. Take a look through some of the sample galleries and you'll see instantly what I mean by unique. Joel has a great eye for what works and a definite passion for getting great shots. On top of that, he's got an enthusiastic, easy-going personality. Taking the photos was actually a lot of fun and we felt totally relaxed even with the cameras shooting off dozens pictures at a time.At the ceremony, Joel and Cara got amazing shots of the family reactions from every conceivable angle. It's not everyday you get to see the moms completely broken down in tears of joy! And now we have priceless photos of these cherished moments. For those pictures alone, I'm forever grateful. The Florys treated the ceremony as if it were their very own and went above and beyond to make sure no emotion of the moment was lost.Following the ceremony, we took family photos. Even improvising a location for the families to stand didn't slow Joel down one bit. We all stood out on the bow of the boat with the sun beginning to set just behind us. Joel snapped off hundreds of photos of every family group combination and they turned out beautifully. In fact, several times the family members got confused about who was taking photos with whom and Joel got us straightened out and posed after just 15 minutes of meeting everyone for the first time! Awesome.Even while all that was going on, Cara setup a computer a monitor displaying some of the best shots from the pre-ceremony photo shoot up in the Marin Headlands! We had to practically herd people away from the screen so they would go sit down and eat dinner! Such a treat having the photos ready for the guests to preview right at the reception.At the reception, Joel and Cara were everywhere anything worth photographing was happening. Kids, food, dancing, smiles, kisses, you name it...they got it all and even under some of the toughest lighting conditions. On top of that, Joel was beyond prepared knowing exactly what came next in the schedule, where each family member necessary for each event was, and how to "block" everything to make sure the pictures came out perfectly. On such a stressful day, we had an ally among the chaos! Joel fit in so well among the guests, many of them actually asked us if he was our friend and not our professional photographer!I would book Joel Flory Photography again in a heartbeat. Our pictures turned out amazing and the day as perfect as it could be. My wife and I recommend them 100%...you won't be disappointed!

Joel Flory and Cara Flory were absolutely amazing...NO they were SUPERBLY AMAZING!!! I couldn't have asked for a better photographer...My husband is a family/children's photographer and I took photography as a course for 4 years. So for us understanding the art of capturing light was very important in every aspect: composition, contrast of black and white, and richness of color; we're all something we critiqued very hard when it came to someone capturing our special day!!It took us 18 months to find a photographer that would not only shoot the important moments within our wedding, but also capture the true personalities that my husband and I carry. The goofy moments that made us who we are and the passionate moments that made us husband and wife. We were glad we found Joel and Cara, they were the best photographers to work with that day. They helped us with our timeline and made sure we were on top of things, but in a way that made the day smooth and memorable. Not only were they accommodating to my "crazy Filipino family", but they were so nice and all we saw were smiles from the both of them, which made us feel more and more comfortable with them. During the reception, they hosted a slideshow which had photos taken from the ceremony and our "photo session" with the bridal party. Those pictures got nothing but compliments from everyone who seen them. People kept saying how amazing they were and how natural we looked in our photos. I will always and forever refer everyone who is getting married to book with Joel Flory; they capture the most important moments as well as capture the personalities that makes husband and wife, who they are.

Joel & Cara were friendly and helpful as my husband and I began wedding planning. We used a lot of their creative ideas. I really appreciated their support and help especially having not gotten married before, there were details and perspectives they shared from their past wedding experience that really helped make our wedding photos a success. I highly recommend Joel and Cara for wedding photography! They are a fantastic pair, their pictures are GORGEOUS, they are professional, on top of everything, always got back to me with any request or question and gave valuable insight and made me feel taken care of throughout the whole process! I am a wedding coordinator so I have seen many wonderful photographers but they were my first choice when choosing someone to take care of my own pictures - which was the most important vendor to me. Our wedding was in October and it absolutely poured that day!!! Not once did I worry about the pictures. They helped adjust picture spots, followed us in the rain, delt with shadows and bad lighting for the new, indoor ceremony site, etc and our pictures turned out absolutely amazingly!They also show a slideshow of some pictures taken throughout the day at the reception and had the same slideshow online the next day! Wes and I were extremely happy with our wedding photos done by Joel and Cara Flory this past October. My husband and I married on an incredibly rainy winter day in Berkeley. Though that could be a nightmare for some photographers, Joel and Cara really didn't skip a beat on outdoor shots :o) Not only did we get great shots in the rain--the lighting of wet reflections and hues was beautifully picked up by their skill and equipment. Plus the fun spontaneity of joining a club of dancing students out side our hall made for incredibly fun shots.

I love Joel Flory Photography! I am a wedding planner in the East Bay and so know many fantastic wedding photographers but I chose Joel and Cara for my wedding because of their warmth, care, and amazing photos - seriously their website/portfolio will take your breath away. They are easy to work with, very low stress yet completely professional and I recommend them to all of my brides and grooms. It poured rain on our wedding day which ruined the plans for our wedding, outdoor ceremony, etc but I never once worried that Joel and Cara would still make everything work. They dealt with the rain, dark shadows and bright colored lights that we had in our reception and the pictures turned out beautifully. If they were stressed at all they never let me know it and we simply had fun being around them.
They play a slideshow of pictures they have taken at your reception and the same slideshow is posted online the next day. Everyone at our wedding loved that and it was such fun for us to look at also. They had our pictures to us in six weeks which is amazing considering some of my brides do not get theirs for six months.

We hired Joel Flory Photography for our Napa Valley wedding last fall on the recommendation of our wedding planner, and it could not have been a better decision. Joel and Cara provided the highest level of service and we received much more than we bargained for. They took time to meet with us beforehand, helped us along the way and put us at ease on the day. They were familiar with our venue, and were able to orchestrate and capture some amazing shots. At our reception, they set up a laptop and looped our ceremony shots for the guests to see, and posted a slideshow online the next day. They did a truly amazing job, and we are grateful.

Wes and I feel so lucky to have such beautiful photographs to look back on to remind us of the best day of our lives! Joel Flory Photography did an unbelievable job capturing every special moment of our day. They were incredibly easy to work with, they were very efficient with group photos, and allowed us to spend more quality time with our wedding guests than taking photos after the ceremony. We LOVED seeing photos the night of our reception and enjoyed being able to share the website with our friends and family immediately after the wedding.....as well as us being able to view our wedding night on our honeymoon! Joel Flory Photography is simply amazing!!!

Both husband and wife team, Joel and Cara, are extremely talented at what they do. They bring so much of their own style to the photography which makes the images unique, stylish, and unforgettable!! My wedding day was just perfect and I felt that through every image that Joel and Cara took, they really just captured every important moment of my big day!! 

Not only do Joel and Cara have mad skills behind the camera, they are both incredibly amazing people and extremely easy to work with!

The most important thing for me when booking a photographer was that they didn't try to control anything about the wedding day, making us take posed picture after boring posed picture. With Joel and Cara they were out of sight out of mind just capturing the candid moments as they happened. 

My wedding images were just beautiful and looked like they came out of a high-end fashion wedding magazine. The images were just effortless and unbelievable! Most importantly I feel that their style is timeless, their unique approach will always be in style for years to come.

Joel Flory Photography is the best, they made our wedding amazing. My husband and I were so impressed with their skills. We were both nervous about the photography because we both get camera shy and hate hate hate posed fake looking photos. Joel Flory Photography was the perfect team for us. Joel and his wife, Cara photographed our wedding and did an amazing job! They Rock! We would highly recommend them to anyone who wants to capture a special occassion and all the memorable moments, feelings and emotions that go with that special day.

My husband (Eric) and I truly felt like Joel and Cara we part of the group, our friends for the day. They were very professional and strategic in capturing each moment, but at the same time you didn't even realize they were photographing the event. They were diligent in getting all the photos we requested and then some. The slideshow that they presented during our reception was a special touch and one that all our guests greatly enjoyed. The edit that they presented us with after was very well done, all the photos we would have selected ourselves. When my husband and I were talking about photography for our wedding, we didn't really know anything about wedding photography. We had no idea what we wanted, and when I started browsing websites, I was impressed and overwhelmed by the variety of styles and the high level of quality out there. 

It was then we decided that we wanted someone good that we clicked with who could truly capture the heart of our special day. So we sat down together and started looking at some websites. When we found Joel's, we viewed a slideshow of pics from recent weddings. We both cried with joy at how the moments captured showed so much more than just the setting of the day.

We e-mailed Joel, heard back almost immediately, and arranged a meeting. WIth only a 5-month planning process, I had decided only to meet in person any photographers who looked promising to hire. We only met Joel and Cara, and instantly knew they were perfect. We could tell that their hearts are really in this, and that they understood how important it was to capture the little moments of the day.

We now know that we were blessed beyond measure to find them. We were married Oct 8, 2006, and still our photos are a treasure and I discover new moments in them every time I look at them. Joel and Cara were a true joy to work with, and they made the whole process so easy. They were seemingly everywhere on our wedding day, capturing hundreds of little moments we didn't even know happened, all without our even realizing they were there. Even though they seemed always just in the background as they were capturing the day, all we had to do was catch their eye across the room and in a second they would be there to capture a picture with a friend. 

I am blown away and humbled by how beautiful Joel and Cara's art really is. If you are fortunate enough to hire them for your wedding, you will be grateful for the rest of your lives as you look back at your beautiful wedding photos. One of the best parts of planning weddings for me comes after the wedding, when I get to look back at the photographs documenting the day. I love to see the pictures of the bride and groom, the details of the day, the guests having fun - it is so rewarding. Joel's pictures really take this experience to the next level for me. My favorite part of working on a wedding with Joel comes towards the end of the reception, when he sets up an amazing slideshow of pictures from the wedding on a big monitor for all of the guests to see. Everyone crowds around the screen, with big smiles on their faces, re-living all of the best parts of the day. I don't even have to wait until the next day to enjoy the terrific photographs! Joel and his wife were great to work with. They were both super calm and relaxed and took their time getting amazing photographs!
