John is an absolutely amazing photographer! He did our engagement photos and wedding photos and we were so pleased with them! He does a fantastic job of finding situations and poses that not only look natural, and bring out the best in the couple, but are also unique and fun. He is so easy to work with and can make any couple feel comfortable during their session. Everything John does, he does to 110%! We never cease to get comment after comment on all the pictures that John has done for us. Everyone we talk to wants to know “Who is your photographer?!” I recommend John to anyone and everyone that needs an amazing photographer, breathtaking photos, and artistic, professional results. Not only that, but John is continually improving his work and adding new and exciting things to his photography packages so every customer gets more for their money than they would ever imagine. I believe John is one of the best photographers in the country. His use of light is breathtaking! Even better, he offers great direction to help get you into just the right poses, and he snaps a LOT of pictures. We received five times as many photos as some of our friends, and this is important because you do NOT get a do-over if you don't get the shots you want! Plus, my friends who used other photographers ended up feeling like they received no direction during their shoots, and their pictures came back looking awkward. The professionalism is as much in the placement and posing as in the camera settings. John made us look good. Really good.

If money is an issue, skimp other places, but make sure you can get the best photographer you can afford. This has proved to be 100% true for my wife and I, and we absolutely love the pictures we received. Go look at John Sharpe's blog, and look at the blogs of the competition. In my mind, the difference in quality is obvious--the pictures speak for themselves. Don't get caught with mediocre pictures, or too few pictures, of your big day!

John Sharpe was great to work with. He is a very nice guy and even put my husband (who hates being photographed) at ease. His photography is beautiful, unique and it really speaks for itself. I highly recommend him to anybody looking for a photographer for their wedding day. You won't end up with the same old photos everybody else has. Our whole family totally adores our wedding album.

My husband and I selected John Sharpe Photography for two reasons. First we loved his style of photography and second we very much appreciated his professionalism, creativity and flexibility during our first meeting with him. John made every effort to capture our spirit in our engagement photos and our wedding photos. The engagement session was unbelievable and the resulting photos were second to none. I love them. John was also very flexible trying first to shoot our photos in the rain, only to reschedule for another day with better weather and lighting. Friends and family alike asked us, "How did you find such an incredible photographer? Your pictures look like they came from a magazine!"Before we found John, my (then) fiance and I looked at many photographers portfolios. We pored over websites. Some photographers bragged endlessly about using the absolute best and latest equipment. Their pictures were often over-the-top. It seemed like they were trying to use 257 special effects in each picture, just because they could. Other photographers had very good pictures, but they were very straightforward and bland. They all looked very posed. Somehow the inspiration, the magic of the moment, was missing.Then we saw John's website. "Aha! Finally someone who gets it," we thought. The pictures were intimate and personal, not posed or artificial. We especially like the elegant way he used lighting to bring out the emotion and feelings of the subjects in his pictures. We scheduled a meeting with John.We asked how long he has been interested in photography. John told us he had been taking pictures since he was 11 years old, when he started developing his own film in a home-made darkroom at his house. We could tell he was extremely passionate about his work.Working with John is very enjoyable. He works extremely hard and is constantly trying new things. When we took our engagement photos in downtown St. Paul, he had no qualms about getting dirty by laying on the sidewalk to get the specific photo he wanted.John was also very professional and prompt in getting our proofs and photos to us after our wedding. Within one month of our wedding we had the digital proofs of all the pictures--over 500 in all. This may not sound like that big of a deal--but one of my groomsmen told me that his wedding photographer ran off after the wedding without giving them the pictures. Every anniversary his wife cries because she doesn't have any pictures from their wedding. We never had any worries with John. He always was very prompt in returning our calls and emails throughout the whole process.Today with the advances in digital cameras, it seems like anyone can call themselves a photographer just by buying an expensive camera. But if you want to capture the raw emotion and joy of the best day of your life, hire a true artist like John. You won't regret it.
