Joyce Luck Style

Peilin Breller did an awesome job on my wedding day. I did a trial with her and Rachelle for my hair a month before and they were very honest and helpful with choosing the right look for me. I wanted to look more natural since it was an outdoor wedding, but also wanted my makeup to stand out in photos. I had a bad experience with another trial (way too much makeup)and Peilin knew exactly what I wanted. After the trial, I did tell Peilin what I wanted to fix. On my wedding day, they arrived on time and worked fast. At first, I wasn't too pleased with my makeup because it looked a bit different from the trial. Peilin fixed it in no time. When I got my pictures from my photographer, I was surprised how natural and beautiful I looked!

What more can I say about Joyce Luck? She is so wonderful to work with. She as well as her team helped my bridesmaids and I stay calm and made us beautiful on my special day. She was one of my vendors I booked a year in advance because I knew she would book up easily. I'm glad I booked her in advance.

Joyce does amazing work. I have frizzy hair and not so great skin but Joyce made it all work. Both on the wedding day and after the trial, I received compliments on the beautiful makeup and hair job.
Apart from the great work she does with the hair and makeup, Joyce's calming and reassuring presence also really helped set a calm and enjoyable tone for the wedding day.

Amazing! All of the girls looked so beautiful, and my mom has never looked better… Joyce and her team were such a calming influence on a crazy morning. Joyce is expensive, but again, another one of those vendors who is so spectacular I’d actually pay more. Whatever that team did had amazing staying power. My hair looked the same at 10 p.m. as it did at noon, and the touchup kit Joyce gave me was awesome. I even brought it with me on our HM to use the blotting papers and lip gloss!

Joyce is amazing. She made me look wonderful. I love her because she takes her time with you, listens to what you want and achieves a masterpiece. She is also the sweetest lady. She always made sure I was happy with what she did for me. Joyce was able to do my engagement photo makeup, my boudoir make up and my wedding make up. Each time it was a slightly different look, but each time it was what I wanted and she made me look glamorous and my skin look flawless. She is definitely worth every penny. You won’t regret it. She will have an emergency kit ready for you for touchups throughout the wedding night. I didn’t really have to use it much, because the products she used on my face lasted the whole night. My bridesmaid’s had their makeup done with Danny. He made my BM’s look wonderful. Not one complaint from any of them.

My first experience with Joyce was at my friend's wedding. Although, Joyce did not do my make-up and hair at that wedding, I was impressed by her work on the bride and her team's work on me. When it was my wedding, I had to book Joyce.

Unlike your typical make-up & hair person, she is not pushy. Her focus was on making me feel beautiful the way I wanted to feel beautiful, not the way she thought I should look. Her team did the same for my moms. Both moms were glowing.

The bottom line is that Joyce made me feel gorgeous on my big day and that is priceless.

Joyce and her team did such a great job on the wedding party. We all looked great! I was very happy with my hair and makeup. Her team arrived on time to start with the preparations. If something wasn't to the person's satisfaction, it was changed. For instance, after seeing her hair done, my mom wanted bigger hair, which was done for her. Also, Joyce has very gentle hands. She doesn't yank at your hair or jab pins into your head. She makes sure that you're very comfortable.

Joyce is amazing and she's worth every dime she charges. I took in a photo of Rachel Bilson and said, "Do this" and she did it. On the day of the wedding she and her team did 12 hair do's and then 12 girls’ make-up. Each hair do was flawless and just like the bridesmaid wanted. My little sister and dh's sister had issues with their hair because of the curls but Joyce fixed it to their likings, and was soo sweet about it. Had it been a salon they would have just given up. Joyce is the best!!!

This review is simple. Yep, Joyce Luck is really as good as they say. I couldnt get over how expensive hair & make-up are but I must say these were some of my best spent dollars. Highly recommended.

Everyone knows that Joyce is well-known amongst Southern California brides for her mad make-up and hair skills. She definitely did it again on my wedding day. Joyce did an INCREDIBLE job of making me feel and look beautiful on my wedding day. Not only is Joyce one of the sweetest people you will ever meet, but she’s extremely talented in what she does. My bridesmaids, guests, and family couldn’t stop telling me how beautiful I looked on my wedding day.

Her team did the hair/make-up for my bridesmaids, Peter’s mom, my mom, and Peter’s sister. After reviewing with them, some of them really liked their hair (I believe the stylist was Tonya) and Judy was great with my mom’s make-up (she looked fantastic). However, my sister really didn’t like her make-up person and ended up taking it off and doing it herself. Oh well… all the ladies looked HOT the day of my wedding.

I would recommend Joyce over and over again to all my friends and to anyone else who wants a fantastic hair and makeup artist. I tried one other person but I wasn't quite happy with the results. I was referred to Joyce by one of my girlfriends that did her wedding and I absolutely loved the results. Everything about her was great! She's professional, easy to work with and just a super nice person. She listened to what I was looking for and she created it. On the big day, everything went smoothly. Everyone got their hair and makeup done on time and my makeup lasted all night. I don't think I had to touch up my makeup once that night.

Joyce is AMAZING. Her work speaks for itself...I had gone to another makeup artist and wasn't happy at all with the results. My wedding coordinator, Angel Swanson, recommended I get in touch with Joyce. Joyce sent me her online album, I got to picture #3 and knew she was "it". Her style is to enhance your face and to highlight what you've got going on...I never felt like I didn't look like myself. I felt so comfortable and so beautiful that I believe it helped me emanate that "glow" brides have. She is completely professional...showed up a bit early, had assistants to help and to set up, and was COMPLETELY ON TIME!!!!! I am the type of person that gets nervous when I'm running late, and she was so perfectly on schedule I never once felt flustered. She will put you at ease, and she is a sweet, sweet person. Amazing combination of personality, talent and professionalism. She's the best bet for you big day.

Joyce and her team did an amazing job at my wedding. They knew exactly what worked for each of my bridesmaids and me. We all looked very polished, but not too made up. My mom and mother-in-law couldn't be happier with their hair and make-up as well. I rarely wear my hair up, but I wanted to do something different and special for the big day, and Joyce did a fabulous job. Aside from the team's creative skills, they are extremely professional and easy to work with. With eight bridesmaids, I was a little worried about the timeline, but Joyce and her stylists had everything under control. We even finished ahead of schedule! I'm hoping to be invited to some fancy gala soon so I can call on Joyce again. ;)

yes yes yes! i had two stylists for me and my bridesmaids, and a separate stylist to a separate location for my mom. reasonable prices and everyone looked amazing!! Grace did my hair - made me look like a goddess. Sai is great with makeup. Raquel did my mom. I would trust any of their stylists even without a preview. The best!

Joyce was referred to me by a friend. She told me that of all her vendors, Joyce Luck was the one that I had to use! I didn't even look for another hair/make-up vendor. I met her for my trial and simply told her that I wanted a classic look (think Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn) and that is exactly what she did. My mom came with me and took "after" photos of me. A few days later, after looking through the pictures again, I decided that I didn't like the colors she used so I emailed her and she remembered to change it on the wedding day without me even mentioning it.

She showed up at 7am in Newport Beach at my hotel to prep all the girls. Joyce and her team were on time and were prepared for anything and everything. They were all super nice and professional. She worked on my (very long) hair and make-up and thankfully she made sure we had plenty of time so that the morning was as relaxing as possible. She even made sure that my hair was ready for a change into a traditional Vietnamese outfit (including the "hat"). I was able to put it on and take it off by myself during the reception. My make-up lasted the whole day & night (even in 100 degree heat last April) and I loved the eyelashes!

Later one of my bridesmaids told me that her older sister said that was the best she had ever looked! I would highly recommend Joyce and her associates. My sister-in-law is now planning her wedding so I'm trying to book Joyce Luck to take care of her too!

And if you are hesitant about the price, just remember that you will have to look at your wedding pictures for the rest of your life (and as the bride you'll be in every one!) so you'd better like your hair and make-up! The price is worth it!

Honestly, I'm not sure I would've made it to the wedding without Joyce.

--I didn't have time to do a test run bc I work in NYC but she had done my friend a couple years back so I just went with her for hair and make-up.

I was seriously hungover from the rehearsal dinner (N.B. brides-to-be) and was a total mess when they arrived at my hotel but everyone said I should be on the cover of Bride magazine so I really can't say how thankful I am for Joyce & her asst!

Joyce is such a wonderful makeup artist! I was lucky enough to see her work applied to one of my friend's wedding (hair & makeup). Everyone looked amazing so I knew that if I were to ever get married, Joyce would be the one I'd hire. She can make a mediocre person shine like a star without that CAKE LOOK. She was also hired by my sis-in-law for her hair and her bridal party's hair two months before my wedding.
I showed her pictures of my dress and the type of hair i'd like to go w/the dress. She added her own touch to it and it came out perfect during the preview! On my wedding day, Joyce showed up with a really bad back. She even cancelled on her own family trip the week before-but she made it to my wedding day! It was obvious that she wasn't feeling well but everything came out perfect. She's so friendly, professional, and amazing. Her team also did a phenomenal job on my bridal party. All the girls loved their hair and makeup. I've seen Joyce and her team complete 3 weddings (including mine) and I give her 5 stars in all 3 events.

Joyce is absolutely amazing. She is so personable - she immediately makes you feel comfortable. I don't normally wear make up but Joyce was able to do it in such a way that it didn't feel like I had make up on. It felt very light and looked absolutely stunning. I'm not one to blow my own horns but hot damn, I was gorgeous on my wedding day! She also provides a little touch-up kit, which definitely came in handy. She is very committed to making you happy with the way you want your hair and make up to be. I adore her and she's the only person I'll ever go to for future events that require make up and hair do's! Highly, highly recommend.

Joyce and her staff were great! Her work speaks for itself! Her make-up doesn’t make you feel like you are wearing tons of stuff on your face. This was very important to me because I do not wear make-up at all. Her makeup is very natural, and I felt very comfortable and of course pretty. My bridemaids and I got so many compliments! It was hard to get in contact with Joyce in the beginning. I figure it's because she was so popular. And she also doesn't book that far in advance. I had my coordinator contact her and everything was eventually settled. Day of, Joyce and her team was great. My MIL is very picky and even she had nothing but good things to say about Joyce. We all looked and felt beautiful.

Joyce and her team were professional and made the wedding party gorgeous. Joyce really loves her work and it shows. It is hard to book her and her rates are not cheap, but overall I liked the makeup. My hair did not last all day – it was hot that day so I had a long strand of limp hair that fell on my face (it was an updo with a couple strands supposedly flowing). The flowing strand did not even last until the ceremony started. My foundation was also put on lightly, so in many pictures I looked like I had an oily forehead. Other than that, Joyce and her team did a fine job. My only point of reference was the makeup artist who did my makeup for the engagement pictures, and Joyce definitely did a much better job that she did.

Like everyone said...Joyce not only does amazing work, she is the sweetest and most calm person! I'm so glad she was there in the moring to do my makeup. I booked her a little late but she was very accomadating and worked out something with the other bride where she could do both our makeup and hair on our wedding. I also went to her for my engagement and studio pictures. I am so happy with the way I looked. I never felt more beautiful. I will for sure use her services for other events too.

I got so many compliments on mine and my bridesmaids hair! Joyce and her team did such an amazing job! My inspiration came from People StyleWatch April issue, hair section. Jessica Alba had this beautiful braid up-do and I knew that was the style I wanted. I showed it to Joyce at my trial and she replicated it to the tee! Although, we had to make few minor changes to it to fit my facial structure, but the overall result was just what I had wanted! My bridesmaids hairs were half-dos and had braids as well!
I highly recommend Joyce. She's so accommodating. She'll spend as much time needed to make you feel completely happy with your hair. She's super sweet, easy to get along with, and very organized! She'll email you a timeline to make sure you and your girls get ready on time!
Her ultimate goal is to make you feel absolutely goegeous...She definitely accomplished that with me! ;)

I contacted Joyce after seeing her spectacular portfolio. Unfortunately for me, she does not work on Sundays (my wedding is on a Sunday). Her assistant, Lin, said I she would set up a trial with someone from Joyce's team. The first person she set me up with informed me that she only did make-up (I specifically requested hair and make-up). I emailed Lin to get a trial with someone who did both and she replied that she would and then never got back to me.

Joyce is fantastic - she did me and one other bridesmaid and we both looked great (if I do say so myself, lol). Unfortunately her assistants didn't exactly have the same "touch" - they ended up making my other three BMs look washed out and totally put WAY too much makeup on my mom. My mom had to go home and wipe half of the makeup off! But Joyce did do damage control on my BMs and ultimately made them happy. I would definitely give Joyce an A+, her assistants closer to a B.

No pun intended, but what great "LUCK" it was for me to have found Joyce Luck. She did an amazing job for me and my bridal party. She is so nice and sweet, fast, and of course, does great make up. I was so surprised how fast she was. And the way she does is natural as many of the brides said, yet makes you absolutely beautiful. I've never looked so good. I would very highly recommend to anyone.

I found Joyce through project wedding. Many of the other stylists also got good, 5 star reviews, but I decided to go with Joyce for a number of reasons. First, her reviews were not just 5 stars, but glowing. I couldn't ignore how everyone seemed to love working with Joyce. Second, she was very professional and clear about her prices and policies. From the very beginning I found her very easy to work with. I felt comfortable even from our first email. The only thing that made me hesitate was the price. Now looking back, it's like another bride said, "she's worth every penny." I did do a trial run which was a good thing because I thought I knew what I wanted, but I didn't. Joyce was very patient during the trial and made sure we got things just right. On the day of my wedding, Joyce and her team were right on time, without a hitch. They really were so calm and pleasant that they got the day off to a great start. I was a little nervous and kept changing my mind about things, but Joyce was great. She was patient with me, but also made sure I was ready in plenty of time. I was really happy with my look and it lasted ALL day - more than 12 hours through sunshine and wind. Joyce did an amazing job. She not only has the talent and experience, but also a wonderfully warm, caring personality. And judging from other people's reviews, she really connects with each bride and makes them feel special. I know she did with me! I feel really blessed to have had Joyce and her team be part of my day. If I had it to do over again, I would pick Joyce in a heartbeat.

I LOVE Joyce! I cannot say enough good things about her. She was so easy to work with and sweet as can be. I loved the way my hair and makeup turned out. I got so many compliments. She used bobby pins to achieve my hairstyle. And I never felt that my hair was coming undone the whole day. My makeup was very natural looking. Joyce along with her crew were amazing with my girls, my mother and my mother in law. She is defiantly worth every penny.

I contacted Joyce after reading all the reviews but she was booked in advance... Lin, Joyce's assistant, scheduled two of her assistants and they were just amazing.

Rachelle did my hair and Zena did my make up. They are cheaper than working with Joyce and they both did a great job. They also did the makeup and hair for my bridesmaids. (Please see my review for Zena). They both were very professional and very accomodating. Both my hair and makeup lasted the entire day!

I definitely would suggest Rachelle and Zena!

I know everyone keeps using this word, but Joyce is absolutely amazing.
She did both my engagement session and wedding hair/makeup and both times she made me look fantastic. (And not just me -- she even fixed the hubby's blotchy redness brought on by wedding-day jitters!) The compliments from friends and family were coming nonstop. I even had some bad cosmetic procedure scars and she managed to cover them up flawlessly. The hubby could not stop staring at me the whole day! Not only is she a fantastic hair/makeup artist, but she is a great person to be around. She puts you at ease and she is so comfortable to work with. And her team is terrific as well. They made my MOH and both mothers look beautiful.

My only complaint is that she has now set an unbelievable standard for how I can look. ;)

Joyce and Sarah did an amazing job on me and my girls. Everyone turned out beautiful! Joyce is especially great. With a bridesmaid running late that day (30 minutes, to be exact), Joyce eased my stress by staying relaxed and talking to me to get my mind off of it. She is so sweet and really knows how to do hair and makeup! Book her early as she is very sought after!

I'm not sure what I can really add that hasn't already been said about Joyce. She was able to replicate a hairstyle from a picture I plucked off the internet with remarkable speed and accuracy. She took detailed notes and made drawings of how I wanted to look and brought those with her on the wedding day. Joyce is sweet and also takes the time to really understand the look you are going for. For instance, I appreciated her asking whether I wanted my freckles covered up (I didn't) as opposed to assuming that I would. Joyce is great--if you want to look and feel good on your wedding day, there's really no other choice.

I actually know a lot about makeup and she still impressed me. Joyce and her team are amazing.

Of all my wedding vendors, Joyce is my favorite! She exceeded my expectations in every respect. Joyce is sweet, easy going, professional, and timely. I booked Joyce for hair and make-up for my engagement session and for my wedding. She made me feel beautiful and confident on both occasions! On the day of the wedding, I received countless compliments on how beautiful I looked. She is simply wonderful! Her hair and make-up say it all.

Talk about making you look flawless!! Joyce made me look absolutely beautiful on my wedding day. She didn't cake on a lot of makeup either. It felt light on my face. What's even more amazing is that the makeup stayed on perfectly all the way to the end of the reception, which is amazing because I was dancing and sweating like a mad woman. I liked how she took her time and asked me questions on what I exactly wanted and didn't want done on my face. She also did my hair, and just like the makeup, it looked beautiful and didn't move the whole night....no matter how hard I was dancing. I can't say enough great things about Joyce. She's fantastic!!

Joyce was so amazing. Every bride wants to look their best on their wedding day and I felt simply radiant. Everyone told me I looked beautiful that day and I felt that way. Joyce also had two assistants who did a wonderful job as well. My bridemaids and my mother looked wonderful. Although I picked her because she does a lot of Asian brides, she also does a wonderful job with other ethnicities (I had an Armenian BM). Although a little pricey, she was worth every penny.

I can't say enough about working with Joyce Luck and her group! She is definitely worth every penny and the wait! I love the fact that days before the wedding she sent a detailed timeline to me so that I would know which MUA would be working on which bm or mother! I absolutely loved that detailness and definitely eased my mind as I had 14 services to be completed in 3.5 hours! Her touch-up kit was also great! Although I did not use everything she provided, I really appreciate the things that were included! I would definitely recommend her again in a heartbeat!

I was very blessed to have gotten Joyce and her team as my makeup/hair stylist. Joyce made my life so easy considering what I had to go through. On the day of my wedding, not only did Joyce and her team do a beatiful job, they even stayed longer to complete others members of the wedding that were not orginally in the contract. I can recall meeting Joyce for the first time at a hair/make up demonstration for a pageant rehearsal about a year ago. She brought a few of her stylists with her and did an AMAZING job. The team transformed 2 girls who were already beautiful into something more gorgeous, if that was even possible. From then on, I knew that Joyce Luck and her team were well equipped and skilled in their job.

Earlier this month, we had the pleasure of working with the Luck Style Team again to prepare for a charity fashion show. Having participated in this event last year, I remember being upset and lacked much confidence because of my poor make-up and hair do. Given the tight amount of time and number of girls that needed to be work on for the event, the stylists that came had very little time to assess each girl to determine the appropriate look. This year; however, I was blown away by the team that came. Despite the commotion and chaos of preparing for the show, all of the stylists were very pleasant and friendly to work with. I was fortunate to have had Shauna work on my make-up. She knew exactly what to do to highlight my features and I'm soooo appreciative and thankful for her hard efforts and patience. I received many compliments about her work and would highly recommend her services to everyone. If you are Asian and are looking for a stylist for an upcoming wedding, I would strongly recommend Shauna. She is a very professional and dedicated artist and I'm very confident that she will not disappoint you. I was blown away by the results and am sure that she will leave a lasting impression on you as well. Thanks again Joyce and team for doing such a great job that day. You made everyone look beautiful and definitely played a major role towards contributing to the success of the event :)
