Judith was wonderful! She did a wonderful job on my dress. I lost weight and had to have the dress re-altered. She fit me in and did a wonderful job both times. She is very easy to work with!

Hi Sarah,Thank you for taking the time to write a review. That is true Flexibility always a factor especially when the client’s time is less than 8 weeks before the wedding in the busy season. I worked everything with my clients I do not want any help from anybody. I talked to each of them on the phone by email in person etc. that is the only way I can deliver the highest quality of my services.I never say “No” to any client even if she only has 1-2-3 hours before the wedding as long as she can work with my open space available. My calendar is booked 2 months in advance specially to those popular hours and days.I will help any brides to be when they need emergency assistance.Judith

Judith did a fantastic job with the alterations for my wedding dress. My dress was a layer of satin with a lace and beaded overlay and Judith had no problem hemming it, taking it in at the sides and up at the shoulders. Her attention to detail preserved the look of the dress and the delicate nature of the lace. Perhaps most important, Judith was fun to work with and she made me feel awesome! Judith did great work and she worked quickly! I highly recommend Judith for all of your alterations!

Judith was amazing and easy to work with. She worked in a timely manner. She hemmed by dress and made a beautiful bustle. I highly recommend her.

My daughter got married October 8, 2011. I am the mother of the bride and purchased a dress from Nordstom's. I needed to have the dress taken in at the sides and hemmed. A friend of mine, whom had recently gotten married and needed her wedding dress altered, recommended Judith's Boutique. I contacted her, made the appointment, and she made the alterations. My dress fit perfectly. The work was also done in a timely manner. Her prices were very reasonable. In retrospect, I wish we had taken my daughter there to get her wedding dress altered, considering alterations cost almost $600.00, in addition to the cost of the dress. I would highly recommend Judith's Boutique and Alterations to anyone who needs needs this service. I will certainly be using her again in the future if the need arises.

Judith did a wonderful job with the alterations for my wedding gown. The quality of work and value were outsatnding. Not only did she shorten and bustle my gown, she took a back bow off and moved some covered buttons that unless you knew the original design you would think the dress was always that way! Thank you, Judith!
GUEST

Judith did a beautiful double french bustle on my lace wedding gown. It was very complex, and she did it in a short amount of time for a very reasonable price.
GUEST

Judith was great to work with! She is professional, easy to reach, responsive, and will take the time to make sure your dress is just right. I got nervous the day of my appointment about leaving my dress with a stranger, but as soon as I got there Judith put me at ease. She has a lot of talent and knowledge. She also strikes a great balance on giving the customer what they want while also giving her opinion when it’s asked for. Highly recommended for any bride!

Judith did my alterations, and she did a great job for a very reasonable price. I would definitely recommend her.

I took my dress to Judith's to be pressed. She did an excellent job, and was able to fit me in on short notice. I was very pleased with the results, and would recommend her highly - she knows her stuff.

Judith *really* knows what she's doing and will work with you to come out with your dream dress, fitted to your body exactly how you want it to be. She is so affordable - I was shocked when I got her bill (I had expected it to be hundreds higher). I am so glad I chose to go with Judith, especially since I purchased the dress in Rockville but live in Northern Virginia and really didn't want to drive back and forth to Rockville. Vienna was no problem. The store where I bought the dress did their own alterations, but after reading reviews, I knew I wanted Judith. She works in the basement of an office building, so don't be confused when driving up. The nice thing about Judith is that when you call and speak to someone about your dress, or email her, you're getting her! My only recommendation is - review different bustle styles online before bringing your dress in, so you aren't like a deer caught in headlights like I was, when asked what I wanted. I had no idea. While she picked a style that worked perfectly for the dress, I wish I had known, just for myself before heading in there. Make sure you have your strapless bra and shoes for the day with you before heading to your first visit!I have absolutely no qualms about recommending Judith to anyone and everyone - you can't beat her price and expertise.

Judith did a wonderful job on both of my dresses and she had wonderful suggestions as to what would work and what would look best. I highly recommend her. She is responsive and does exactly what she says she will do.
GUEST

Judith did an awesome job with altering my wedding dress and steaming it. I bought my dress at another store and did not have a great experience with them, so I did not trust them to alter it. But I completely trusted Judith from the moment I met her. She not only altered my dress, but she gave me advice on the veil to buy, the lingerie I should wear under my dress, and shoes. The day of the wedding when I picked it up after it was steamed, she was more concerned than I was about it getting wrinkled going back in the bag. Her attention to detail and quality of the alteration was wonderful. She is a true professional who definitely knows what she is doing.
GUEST

Judith was easy to work with and her work was flawless. She took my dress and made it fit like a glove and made me feel beautiful. She is fun and talented. Worth every penny!
GUEST

Judith was great...very friendly, easy going, and professional. Excellent work with quick turnaround. She had lots of ideas, and helped me create the right look for my wedding gown: she took a little out in the bust and put in 2 French and 4 American bustles for about $120. Would definitely recommend her for wedding gown alterations, her specialty.
GUEST

Alterations, albeit expensive, were done in a rapid fashion. Not the easiest to find, but I am impressed with the quality and rapid fashion of the service. Would definitely recommend to others.

Judith was absolutely amazing. I got my dress from Filene's basement Running of the Brides 9 months before my wedding. I bought the dress three sizes too small. When I lost enough weight to really fit the dress, it ended up being a little big, specifically in the chest area. It was laying on me a little weird just weeks before the wedding, and I was panicked that it would look bad on my wedding day. I didn't really think anything could be done, but Judith could tell how nervous I was about it, and she spent extra time to work with me to make sure we got it right. She helped me so much and really took so much stress away from me for my wedding day. No one wants to be self conscious when they're walking down the aisle and Judith took that feeling away for me. She was wonderful! She also built a gorgeous bustle into the dress. She showed us lots of different options on how it should be done. She also made lots of little suggestions to improve the dress that I never would have thought of without her. She is a real expert and knows what she's doing!

I can't imagine any bride being unhappy with Judith or her demeanor or services. She was a pleasure to work with and my dress was impeccable. I was nervous about my very low-cut dress. I had no interest in showing my 'girls' to my in-laws or my grandparents. Judith made a wonderful vanity panel that fit in seamlessly with my dress. She took in my dress in such a way that it fit perfectly - everyone commented about the beautiful fit of the dress. And she did all of it the month before the wedding. I would recommend her to any bride or any woman with a dress to alter. Amazing work! I was interested in donating my dress after the wedding, since I am not sentimental about 'things' and she gave me a place and a number to call to donate my dress and give the proceeds to Haiti. Thank you Judith!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
GUEST

Judith altered and bustled my wedding dress. Her prices were very reasonable, and she did a fantastic job. I had a pretty long train and the bustle held without any issues through all the dancing of the reception. Judith is also very friendly and easy to work with. She was always on time and flexible with my schedule.
GUEST

Judith made a dress for my daughter, and we were extremely thrilled with the results. When my daughter broke her arm, we needed some last minute adjustments made to the dress to accommodate her cast. Judith made herself available at very short notice and made the alterations the same day. She is great to work with!

Hi Babs,Thank you for taking the time to share your experience about my worked.Judith
GUEST

Hi Judith! You were great - thanks so much for altering my two dresses in such a short amount of time. They both fit wonderfully and I look forward to wearing them this weekend. You were very responsive and I really enjoyed chatting with you. It was like chatting with a long-time friend. I will let you know how the two events go this weekend :) Again, thanks - I will recommend you to everyone!
GUEST

Judith saved my wedding by fitting me in and altering my dress the week before the wedding. The dress had come in late and I was afraid there wouldn't be enough time to hem and bustle it, but she was quick and responsive to email, and made the time to get it done. The work was beautiful and I actually liked the dress better bustled up in the back! I highly recommend Judith to anyone needing quality work done on their dress.
GUEST

Judith did an amazing job on my alterations. I had length taken up, the top taken in and cups added. The price was incredibly reasonable, especially for the NoVA area and turnaround time was great. Judith also let me know that if I needed last minute fixes that she could accomodate. I would recommend Judith to anyone looking for reasonable alterations.

Judith listened to what I wanted to change about my wedding dress, and met with me several times. She was very focused on making sure that I was happy with the fit before cutting any fabric. She was very flexible and was able to fit me in very quickly for appointments. On top of that, her prices were a great value for the professional tailoring that she provides. Thank you, Judith!
GUEST

Judith was fantastic to work with. I contacted her after I spoke to a few tailors who wanted to charge me twice as much for alterations than what Judith charged me. I friend of mine refered Judith and I couldn't have been happier with her work. She made numerous alterations to my dress, all of which came out perfect. She was a pleasure to work with, very professional, and her rates are extremely reasonable. Thank you again!
GUEST

Judith was great! She was helpful in telling me which type of bustle would look best on me (I had no idea that there was more than one type) and altering the dress to accentuate my curves. She was also cool under pressure when my Spanish relatives came to the last fitting and all four women were giving their opinions (loudly) in Spanish, all at the same time... no small feat! :) Overall I was simply thrilled with what she did and couldn't possibly imagine giving her less than 5 stars!
GUEST

Loved working with Judith. My dress turned out great! She's professional and most importantly, I didn't have to wait once to get in for my appointment. Thanks again!
GUEST

Judith was very responsive and flexible, and moreover, I was surprised at how reasonable her rates were (as I had been warned that many tailors will charge much more to alter wedding dresses)! I had her alter another dress while I was there and that came out perfectly, too.
GUEST

I came to Judith with the dreaded dress that needed to be let out. (bridal salon ordered in wrong size, no time to fix)I had visions of having to lose the gorgeous buttons up the back of my dress to convert my dress to a corset back. But Judith told me that was unnecessary and that it would not work with the structure of my dress. Instead she let it out at the seams and used some of the fabric from hemming it. Nobody could tell it had been altered and on my wedding day it looked gorgeous. And my french bustle held even with being stepped on all day (I changed shoes unplanned when my strap broke, and lost a few inches of height, this is not on Judith, she hemmed it perfectly)I cannot say enough wonderful things about Judith and her work.My husband and I are planning a "rock the dress" photo session and I'm going to return to Judith to have my dress taken back in (lost weight after the wedding, doesnt it just figure)She's very personable and just lovely to work with.I know the review is late Judith! But thanks again for saving my dress and making it not only wearable, but beautiful!
GUEST

I'm so happy I read the other reviews and chose Judith's. She made my dress fit perfectly. Even after the second fitting when I felt my dress was still too long to walk in, she went back and shortened it again. I felt completely comfortable on the day of the wedding. She also took into consideration where we were having it, what kind of dancing we were going to do and the type of bra I used. The bustle was absolutely beautiful and I am definitely not the kind of girl who gushes over wedding dresses. Girls, you won't be disappointed if you go with Judith. I thought her prices were completely reasonable. I need to find out if she does regular alterations, because I would never go anywhere else again!

EDIT: Since posting this review, I've received several emails and messages. One came from Judith's business email, and included lines like: "Even I knew it look bad on you but you do not see that. I thought your thinking and style are different than other women because you have a mustache about a ¼” long," "Your mother controls everything for you. I wonder why you’re getting married that you are not old enough to make your own decision in your life," "You did not open your mouth to your mothers idea you totally obeyed her like a 5 yrs old girl," and "I almost tell your mother to shut up!"I then received a message from an "anonymous" site user which included many of the same claims but was, perhaps, more personal. For example, "Maybe you deserved it? sounds like you are a very mean person. You are a very bad person. Who will marry a person like you?" and "Look at your naked body in front of a plus size mirror what do you see? Is it a Top model figure? If not that good maybe is true.," and "I felt sorry for your man. I bit your he will ended up with a nice friend lady someday. It sounds like you don't have anything nice to offer to him. You are a very angry and unhappy."Luckily, I am neither an angry nor unhappy person, but I did want to make these pretty outrageous responses to my review available to other potential patrons. Since it's all pretty long, I've posted the full text of my review along with the full texts of these communications to a blog that you can check out here: http://aproblemorthree.wordpress.com/2010/10/08/judiths-boutique-and-alterations/---Since I based my decision to use Judith for my alterations on the reviews from this site, it seems only fair that I give my honest opinion to help others make an educated decision.I'll start out with what I see as Judith's best quality: she is good at sewing. This may seem self-evident, but I've seen wedding dresses where you could tell every seam that was altered because it fell oddly or puckered. All of Judith's actual sewing was top-notch.Unfortunately, there were many other problems. The biggest one is that the bustle didn't hold up at all. Even though it was connected correctly and looked beautiful, I'd had the dress bustled for about 10 minutes when I sat down for the first time and the central (primary) button broke. We tried to safety pin it back up, but the dress was too heavy for the safety pins and the other two buttons broke during the first dance. I spent about half an hour of my two hour reception in a corner with my wedding coordinator doing her best to pin things back up, but in the end I ended up just shuffling on the dance floor with my train dragging behind me.I also had trouble communicating my desires to Judith. This is due in part, no doubt, to my own complete ignorance about sewing and alteration, but I was hoping that she would be adept at converting the ideas of the uninitiated like me into reality. My biggest request for my gown was that the butt be tighter. I'd tried on the same dress in a smaller size when I made my purchase, and the tighter butt looked really good on me. In the right size, however, the dress made my butt look kind of flat. Judith said that she would take in the hips to achieve the look I wanted, but it sounded to me like she wanted to take it in too far. I tried hard to explain what I wanted, and we finally agreed that she would make the changes she thought would look the best, but not cut any of the fabric so that we could change it back.I showed up for my next appointment with my mother, who had come up from North Carolina for the fitting. Unfortunately, Judith hadn't put my appointment time into her system. This meant that my mother and I had to spend a few hours waiting to come back for the appointment, and that Judith had to do all the alterations on the dress in a rush. This rush showed when I came back to try it on. The dress had been altered to be way too small--I hadn't gained any weight, but it was inches from fitting on me. Judith had to cut many of the seams she'd just sewn in order to get me into it. And then... she'd changed the entire line of the dress from an A-line skirt to a mermaid style. Not at all what I wanted. Luckily, my mother was there to help. They downloaded a picture of the dress from the internet and my mother was able to talk her through the fact that I wanted an A-line skirt that was just a little tighter on my butt. In the end, Judith got it close enough, but it required an extra visit and an extra trip up from NC for my mom.The other problem I had revolved around the bra. Since I'd never worn a wedding dress before, I was a little confused about whether I bought the bra first or had the dress altered first. When I asked Judith, she said it wouldn't be any problem for me to find a bra to fit the dress and not to worry about it.After all of the alterations were completed, I took the dress with me my normal lingerie shop, which also specializes in wedding lingerie. They brought out the options available to me (which were limited to only two or three possibilities due to my size) and I tried them on. I picked the best option, but since it was a bustier I no longer filled out the top of the dress in the same way. Since this shop has some of the widest selections of bras in my size, I decided to go with this bra and took the dress back to Judith to see if she could make the dress fit the bra.Judith told me I just needed to buy a different bra. She suggested I get a regular bra in a lower band size and pull it down to wear it lower on my back. I'm afraid this may work for a woman with a smaller chest, but for a larger-busted woman like myself who actually needs the support of a bra, it was not an option. Luckily, I ended up being able to get the bra altered (by a specialized lingerie seamstress, not Judith) so that it could work with the dress in the end... but it all would have been much easier if Judith had suggested that I bring my bra with me for one of the fittings. So, I have to say that using Judith as my seamstress caused a lot more hassle for me than it should have. It meant extra trips back to her shop for both me (and I live about an hour away) and my mom. It meant having to pay the expense of having the bra altered after the fact. And it meant that I was limited in my ability to dance and enjoy my reception because of the broken bustle, and the train of my wedding dress certainly shows the wear. I certainly wouldn't use Judith again and I wouldn't recommend her.

Marcela Florence ,You must add your photo in a regular clothes with your review so the readers will learn what does and doesn’t wear when they are the same size as you. Your gown is A-line it is the right style for your size. But, you wanted to changed the skirt. You want me to make it to A MERMAID in my mind ....Hnnnnnnnnnnn ( MERMAID?) Holy cow! No!! !! it would be really awful ,awful look on her. I don't want to insult you so, I do not share my thought with you. I said just to make sure that I understand what you wanted me to do. I will pinned your gown and you have to tell me if that is the look that you want to have?I pinned the sides and the back of your gown and you told me Yes! This is the look that I want. I want to show my bottom and your friend Paul was there in the dressing room. He doesn’t say anything else except if this is what you want. That is all he commented on you. He was a very nice person he made two shawls for you with his bare hands and crocheted hooks while he was working. You do not use the word mermaid but the changes that you wanted me to do is a mermaid. On the second fitting I asked you where your friend Paul? Why he is not here with you? You said I don’t really like him because he wanted to do many things for the wedding that I don’t like. Your mother commented the same about Paul. She told me after she talked to him on the phone while you were walking around. What ignorance are you talking about? You told me what you wanted you’ve seen the gown after I pinned it on you. Is not a complete ignorance in your part it a lie in your story. I only do what the client asked. NO miscommunication between you and I it's the fact that you denied because you made a mistake. I AM A DRESSMAKER AND A MASTER TAILOR. I AM NOT JUST A SEAMSTRESS. The reason I agreed with the changes that you wanted even I knew is a bad choice is I thought you are different.Fact 1… You and your friend Paul came in the first fitting he was in the room with you while you change in to your gown. He came out when I came in the room he came back in the room and sat on the chair.Fact # 2… Your mother is not with you in our pinning day, she came with you in the second fitting.Fact # 3… You grew a mustache is not heavy but it is visible is about ¼” on an inch above your lip and to your chin scattered slowly down to your lower neck.Fact# 4…It is true that when you came in for the second fitting your gown wasn’t ready it was my fault. I forget to write the date down in to my outlook calendar but it was written on the ticket attached to the garment bag. You said that you and your mom have things to look for in the Mall it is alright for us to come back. I told you just give me an hour that is enough because I only baste stitch your skirt not finalize it.Reason # 1 I never cut the extra fabric until I know for sure is correct fit.Reason # 2 I don’t want you to change the skirt of your gown. A-line is best look for you. WHY?Reason # 3 you have flat bottom and no waistline A line give you the waist & bottom look.Reason # 4 You don’t have the right bra with you. Is it a complete ignorance in your part that you don’t bring the proper under garment for first fitting and all your fittings????? Reason # 5 The gown you picked is almost perfect fit only needs taking up the shoulder, hem and bustle. The final product, the look you wanted you did not have instead you got the look that your mother wanted which is the best look on you. I wonder what kind of review you are going to write about my service if your mom allowed you to have the changes that you wanted that make you look like a seahorse.COORDINATOR:Why she or he never come with you to learn how to hook up the bustle? The bustle will break only if you doing it wrong the buttons & loops must be connected only to the vertical position never to be connected horizontally because you are pulling the fabrics together in to the wrong direction.Your gown are not made of metal it will tear out or break apart if you move improperly it is for a wedding it is a formal event you must act formal and lady like and I told you that several times. My bustle buttons are sew in with 1/8” size ribbon the same ribbon I used for the loops is very strong that is why the buttons broke instead of the thread I give your mother a drawing how to connect it.I never allow a client leave from my place of business that is not happy with my work .I always work extra mile to deliver the highest quality of my service.I never charge you for changing your skirt the second time most dressmaker will charge you extra for that, that was not my fault it was your own fault. Your mother hate the style that you wanted she see your real body so, she took over the control on how you should look in your gown she explain everything to you and you agreed 110% with her Like a 5 yrs old girl. You never mention anything to me or to your mom that you don’t like the look of your gown were you on drug or drunk when we did your fittings to make you high and agreed to everything that your mom said to you?I was really surprised when I read your review I wish that you grow up now that you are married so, you will be able to make a good decisions on to yourself and take responsibility of your actions stop blaming others with your mistakes. In closing I am honest my number one goal is to make all my clients look best in their gown for any occasions.Note: I never advertise that I can do Miracle or magic on your body Marcela. I can only alter your clothing. I can’t give you curves that you don’t have. I can only show you what you have under your garment. You come to me as skinny person you will leave skinny. If you come to me Huge you leave Huge.I want you to watch the Titanic Movie and the Gone with the wind and study those slender women and wear the same under garment that they are using if you want to show more curves. Please do not point your fingers on me. I am 51 years young. I have been working with brides and beauty pageants contestants for 31 yrs. starting from North Carolina. I never meet a client like you who bear so much dislike of my work without saying anything to me about it while I was working with you.

My dress was too tight on me, and had a few small rips along the zipper in the back. Judith fixed and altered my dress, no problem, and you couldn't even tell that she let the dress out and added lace to fix the small tears in the back of the dress!
GUEST

I am so happy I found Judith! After David's Bridal kept my dress for two months and completely messed it up, Judith was able to squeze me in and fix my dress in just two days. She knew exactly what I wanted and did it. She also wrote a statement to send to my credit card company, so I could get my money back from David's Bridal. Thank you so much!
GUEST

Judith was wonderful to work with! She was responsive to calls and flexible even when I got stuck in traffic and was late for my last appointment. Her work was perfect, and the price was great. Thanks, Judith!
GUEST

Judith is terrific. I bought my dress on the internet and needed to have it fitted to me. Judith did the alterations quickly and carefully. Then, I needed to have it shortened even more and she did it all again within 1 week! And the price was right too. I highly recommended her.
GUEST

I hired Judith to do the alterations on my wedding dress -- shorten the length, add an American bustle, adjust the halter -- and to steam my dress. She did a wonderful job and was very quick. I brought the dress in six weeks before my wedding day and two weeks later had my first fitting and it fit perfectly. At that point I was still a month away from my wedding and she let me store my dress in her shop until we were ready to pick it up for the wedding. She steamed it and my parents picked it up on the way to the wedding location. It was absolutely stunning! Judith also did the alterations on the dress of one of my bridesmaids who was five months pregnant. My bridesmaid got her dress before she was pregnant, so naturally it was a little small. Judith was able to take the length of the dress and insert a panel on the side to give her a little more room. Luckily the dress had two layers, and the top layer was fine so she only had to increase the bottom one. It turned out perfectly!
GUEST

I can't say enough positive things about Judith. I bought my dress at David's and they were supposed to do all the alterations as well as let it out about an inch. They did everything BUT let it out and then told me they could put it through as a "rush" even though it was their mistake! At this point, my wedding was one week away AND after a holiday weekend. I refused to let David's do any more damage. I browsed the internet and found many positive reviews for Judith and sent her a panic email hoping she could help me. Judith responded to my email that night and met with me the next day! I left my dress for her the Thursday before the holiday and she promised to have them ready the following Tuesday (the day I left for my wedding!). Everything was completed days earlier and she was a pleasure to work with. I can't thank her enough for all that she did for me. I would recommend her to anyone! Thank you Judith!! :)
GUEST

Judith did an amazing job fixing my dress! She did some hemming, fixed the bodice and straps, and created a beautiful bustle all in 1 week! I was very stressed out after the first seamstress had the dress for a month and the bodice no longer fit and the bustle wasn't even complete! Once I dropped the dress off with Judith, I knew everything would be alright. Thanks again!
GUEST

Judith altered my dress from an A-line gown to a more form fitting gown, without disturbing the stitching design, which was quite an amazing feat. She was very personable and I could tell she wanted to make me feel beautiful in my dress, which she did.
GUEST

Judith did a wonderful job shortening the hem of my dress and adding a bustle. She was quick responding to e-mails. Judith generously offered to do last minute elastic work on my bustier if the boutique could not do it - it turned out the garment was fine without it but I really appreciated Judith offering to go the extra mile. Thank you!
GUEST

Judith is great to work with. You can try your gown and look at your self in mirror for hours telling her what you want to be done and she will listen to you and give you advice. I never felt like I was being rushed, which I love. She also did a great job with my lace gown.
GUEST

Judith altered two evening gowns for me....one had to be taken in and the other had to be let out and shortened. She did a fabulous job! Both gowns were done on time and within her quoted cost. She was very pleasant and provided professional alterations. I definitely would use her services again.
GUEST

After reading other reviews here on wedding wire, I worked with Judith for the alterations on my wedding dress. Since I only had 4 months to plan my wedding, a number of wedding dress shops didn't want to work with me. So I just bought my dress at David's and took it to Judith for alterations. Judith did a beautiful job on the dress, making a few minor changes to it and hemming it to fit my 5'1" height! I ordered my dress without a train, but Judith suggested hemming it to the floor in the front and leaving the extra length in the back to create a small sweep-train. She then put in a small bustle in the back so I could lift up the extra length for dancing. It was a great idea and made the dress photograph beautifully at the ceremony, and then it was very easy to bustle it for dancing at the reception. I highly recommend Judith for alterations on any bride's wedding dress in the DC area!

Judith's Alterations has altered my daughter's wedding dress, my Mother of the Bride dress (12/09) and also my Mother of the Groom dress (9/10).She is very flexible, fast and provides quality work and has valuable suggestions for her alterations. My daughter's dress was off the rack and needed to be hemmed. Judith made some suggestions for that. What we ended up with was a one-of-a-kind dress that fit her like a glove. She was stunning!I will not hesitate in the future to call her when I have another event I need help with!!
GUEST

I would highly recommend this boutique to anyone looking to have a wedding or an evening dress altered. The service I received was fabulous - I was under a tight schedule and appointments were made taking that into consideration. I received great advice about the dress, how to wear it and even how to style my hair to match. The quality of the sewing was excellent; my off the peg dress was altered so that it looked to have been made for me. Excellent job, done by a lovely, helpful and talented lady.
GUEST

The best decision I made was to take my dress to Judith. I read one negative review about her on Wedding Wire but I found that it could not be further from the truth. First, Judith does impeccable tailoring. My dress has intricate beading and ruching (sp ;-) and you would never know that it has been taken in. Second, she is a perfectionist and puts her clients needs first. I bought my dress a size larger then I needed and Judith took in in two inches and put in a french bussle. When I came back for a fitting I was concerned it was a little tight around my ribs. Judith let it out a little and I came back the following week to a perfect fit. Finally, Judith herself is a delightful person. She is always smiling and easy going. She is going to press my dress herself and hold it until the day before my wedding b/c that is most convenient for me. For the quality of service she provides you will not get a better price. Do yourself a favor and trust your wedding dress to Judith.

Judith did a wonderful job altering my dress. She was willing to work with me as I changed my mind numerous times and offered great suggestions (such as the french bustle I ended up going with).

Judith did a great job with the alterations. dress fit like a glove on my wedding day. would recommend to anyone getting married. a little pricy but completley worth it. then again, i didn't compare other places. she was super sweet, enthusiastic and is great at what she does. i have no regrets using her for my alterations. she helped me pick out my veil for my dress as well and gave me her professional opinion on that and the bussel. Definitely use her!

Judith did an exceptional job altering my wedding dress and creating an extremely complicated French bustle for it. I had a royal length (18 foot) train, and Judith made a 13 button bustle that she mentioned that she re-did 3 times to get it right. I got all sorts of compliments on how lovely my dress looked when the bustle was put in place. Judith altered the top of my dress to fit my body like a glove. I felt simply stunning in it! The dress was a pre-owned gown, and Judith even corrected issues from previous alterations. The only thing I would change is that I initially asked Judith if she thought I should take in the straps of my dress and she said no, even though she was removing fabric that had been tucked in during the prior alterations. Once she removed it, the straps sat off of my shoulders because they truly were too long. She gladly added the alteration and did a lovely job once I pointed it out to her, but it cost extra to have it done at that point. It would have been nice to have it caught earlier while she already was in undoing the straps the first time around. When it came time to preserve my gown, Judith offered a service in New York that was the best deal I could find. She was very easy to work with when it came to dropping off the dress, and it is being shipped directly to my home. Talk about simple!Overall I would definitely recommend Judith to anyone. Her work is gorgeous and she's very fun to work with.

Judith was fantastic!! She was very friendly and she made it very comfortable to come into her boutique. She was expensive but she did wonderful work.On my wedding day, however, I realized (too late) that my dress was too long and I sometimes had a difficult time walking without stepping on it. Thankfully, there were no trips up the isle!!

Thank you for the review, I am so sorry that you felt that your gown was too long. That is why I always asked the bride to be to walked around and feel if it is fine or if you feel that you are catching on something that I need to readjust it. I would be glad to do so without extra charge. As a professional I looked for the beauty and the best fitting of your gown on you, I can't tell about how you felt or what is uncomfortable for you, if my customer doesn't tell me that there's something feel wrong. I have no way of knowing it. It is too late now. But, I am thankful that you are fine and the wedding went smoothly as you planned.

Judith was a great seamstress to work with for my 9/26/09 wedding! She took a simple strapless dress and made the dress of my dreams! The dress had a beautiful design but did not fit me closing, was too long, needed to be bustled, and I did not like the straight across stapless I wanted a sweetheart neckline - she created me a beautiful sweetheart neckline with simple stiches in front to not run the design and detail of dress, she created a beautiful french bustle; 3 layer, and also tailored the dress to fall perfectly at my shoes and took out some fabric from sides so that dress would close on me! The dress was ok when I brought in in but her expertise made it a vision of my dream. Her office was never croweded and she gave me undivided attention. The alterations and service was worth the costs :)

Judith is great at her craft but also very flexible and responsive. I had three visits with her and she was very supportive of my bridal anxieties. :) She makes you feel very comfortable, is a lot of fun, and her price is a great value.

I met with Judith for my first fitting. The cost of the alterations was almost the same as the cost of my dress. I left her shop and went to 4 other shops. The other shops either cost a bit more than Judith or they did not seem to know how to pin my dress. I then decided to go back to Judith and I'm glad I did! She was very professional, knew exactly how to pin my dress, and had it ready when I wanted it to be ready. She even steamed my dress, but at an additional charge. Overall, I was very satisfied with Judith. I just didn't like paying so much for the alterations, but I understand that is the nature of the business and I was paying for her time. I highly recomend Judith for any bride!

I brought Judith a dress that I got as-is for alterations. She tried to work with the dress to get it to fit but unfortunately the way it was made it was not working out. On short notice I found another dress and Judith was able to alter it in a short time frame and it fit perfectly. She did not charge me for the first alterations also and was very accommodating and good value for the money. In the end I think she was mainly concerned with me having a dress I was happy with which was exactly what I was looking for.

I had a hard time finding an alterations person for my wedding dress since I purchased my dress out of state and could not get it altered from the store. Judith's boutique was one of the only places I found that would work on a dress not purchased from their store. My dress had a lot of bead work on it and Judith was able to alter it to fit me perfectly. Judith was pleasant to work with and offered suggestions to help me make decisions about my dress. I would recommend Judith to any bride who had bead work on her dress or bought her dress from another store to have it altered at Judith's boutique.

Judith is incredible! She is talented, professional, and creative. I bought a wedding gown on clearance at David's with the intention of finding a seamstress to alter the shape of the dress completely. The dress was originally A-line with a substantial amout of tool at the bottom to make a poofy bubble buttom, but I wanted more of a form-fitting fit and flare style. I found Judith's here on weddingwire.com and her reviews were so great that I thought I'd give her a try. Of course I was nervous to take my dress to be totally redesigned without having any previous experience with Judith, but after just a few minutes of talking to her I knew I had made a great decision. She was patient and listened to me explain exactly what I wanted and she quickly shared my vision. She was great at offering suggestions for how to shape it to fit my body best and she explained everything she was doing, which allowed me to ask plenty of questions to make sure we were on the same page. The best part was that she offered to stitch it first without making any cuts so I could come in and see the progress mid-way before making any permanent changes to the dress. The whole process only took about a month - I had a first consultation, a second fitting 3 weeks later, and then a final fitting only a week later. The final product was perfect - it fits like a gove and it's exactly what I envisioned. I couldn't be happier with my experience working with Judith. She was very fast, professional, responsive, and reasonably priced, especially for this area. My mom and sister also brought their dresses for her to make some minor alterations and Judith did an incredible job on those as well.

Judith did an outstanding job with my alterations. I bought my gown from David's Bridal, which was not the best choice, but she really made some great changes and all turned out well!

Judith is a remarkable seamstress. She is fun, knows what looks good, and goes above and beyond to ensure that you are happy with your gown. I found Judith after having the Bridal Closet in Vienna do a horrible job on my alterations. She was incredible and made me feel at ease that she could make it right. My gown was stunning when she was done and exactly what I wanted. It only took her a week to complete and her prices are great. Judith made me feel like a million dollars on my wedding day!

Thank you for saving my dress Judith!!!!I called Judith the Tuesday night before my wedding. She told me to come in and that I could come back to pick up my dress on Thursday (less than 2 days later). The dress was perfect!! I brought it to two other places but they didn't do it correctly. Judith fixed my dress and it looked wonderful!!!

The below was my initial comment, and I had given Judith a 5/5 on the professionalism front. However, after posting this review, Judith posted rude comments to my profile and insisted I had no idea what I was talking about. She also threatened legal action against weddingwire if I did not produce my receipts, which I did. If this is how she treats all reviews that hint at problems, I would suggest taking her overall rating with a grain of salt.Judith hemmed my dress and created the bustle. My dress was delicate lace, and Judith was the only seamstress I could find who would tackle the immense task of detatching, cutting, and handsewing the lace to shorten the dress. It looked absolutely amazing when she was done - she preserved the scalloped edge and matched it to the dress to create a seamless hem. She also took in the sides of the dress and added bra cups - all perfect. The bustle did not work out so well. She did the bustle American-style, but the hooks and the loops fell out during the reception. I had to re-bustle my dress about 15 times, finally settling on several large safety pins to do the job.

To all WeddingWire reader. This are my comments to her profile it is not rude. Hi There, Whoever you are, the way you've stated the detailed of my worked are all wrong. Firstly, I don't hand sew any fabric because I am using a professional commercial machine in reality (what is a seamless him?)Are the lace of your gown are glued on and connected all threads that you can say it is a seamless hem? THAT STATEMENT ABOUT MY WORKED ON THE HEMMING OF YOUR GOWN IS NOT TRUE. All the hem that I will do to any dress/gown is machine sewn I NEVER HAND SEW FABRIC.I hand sew only beadings. In that alone it sounds like you are not my customer. Secondly, I never use hooks on any of my bustle. My entire bustle worked is made of covered buttons to match the color of the gown and the loops are 1/8" ribbons that are tied to a knot underneath of the skirt. Again your second statement about my bustle are not true... you lied again. I would like you to email me tell me who you are. So, I can search my record about you and I would like to see your gown and if you are really what you said you are. I will refund the bustle charged otherwise I want you to publicly apologized for making up a bad review about my work. You can click this link all these customers had bustles done to their gowns nothing is being reported that the bustle hooks fall off. http://www.insiderpages.com Judith's Boutique and Alteration.I saw your review of Judith's Boutique and Alteration. I am Judith @ Judith's Boutique. You Are You? Are you really my customer? I NEVER USED HOOK ON MY BUSTLE.IF YOU ARE REALLY MY CUSTOMER THEN YOU LIED ON YOUR REVIEW. The way you stated my worked are not true.I care about my work. I would like to know who are the unhappy customers. Can you email me your full name.I know all my customers and where they are getting married.Posted On: May 24, 2009 10:01 I Am just asking for a customer confirmation you never contact me, you never show me who you are. You never show me anything to tell me that you've done business with me.Once again I never use hooks and eyes on my bustle. Let's make it clear. Judith's Boutique

I bought my dress elsewhere and decided to use Judith based on great reviews I found online. I was never really in love with my dress to begin with, and I originally took it to Judith to have a bustle put in. However, Judith could tell I didn't really care too much about my dress, so she offered suggestions as to how the dress could be altered. The dress began as an off-the-shoulder dress with the back slightly below my shoulder blades, and is now a beautiful strapless with a sweetheart neckline and a dropped back. And I LOVE it! I never had any doubts that Judith would be able to do all that she said. Judith is really confident and makes it easy to entrust your dress to her. And she works quickly, and she's extremely affordable! I would recommend Judith to anyone in the Northern VA/DC area - she's worth it!

I found Judith Boutique while reading all her reviews online she is professional and understanding. She listen to me while I was telling her how I wanted my gown to look like and she worked hard to meet my desire. I am completely satisfied with her worked.I had my fitting with her in Feb.09 and she told me that she will moved to the new location and I heard her telling to the other brides that she will moved in early March 09 so, I went to her new location to pick up my gown.I will highly recommend Judith's Boutique to anybody that needs Bridal & Formal gowns Alteration. As for Liz & Travis you should not blamed Judith for not telling you that she is moving to another location just across the street from her old location. Maybe you just forgot about it. The fact is she fixed your gown properly as you wanted that is very important Besides, you can always call her cell phone for any questions like I always did.I don't have any complaint about Judith's services.Techmille

I had originally purchased my gown from David's Bridal, but after going to a fitting with one of my bridesmaids, I realized that I wanted someone who would treat me like I was the only bride instead of a number. I went with Judith after reading reviews from this site, and she was great. The first fitting went well, and she sat down and spoke with me for about a half an hour just getting to know me and telling me about herself. I felt relieved and knew at that moment I found the perfect seamstress. I had 2 more fittings, and she really made the dress look like it was made for me. I only had one complaint and that was that she moved and neglected to let me know. So on the day before my wedding when I was to pick up the dress, I was on a wild goose chase trying to find her new place of business. I finally did, and after I calmed down, I tried the dress on and it was perfect. She really does do a wonderful job. I don't think she will be moving again any time soon, and I would recommend her to anyone who wants personal and friendly service as well as looking like a million bucks on her wedding day!!
