This venue exudes a vintage warmth that can be rarely replicated. Although it holds much larger weddings, our 64 guests fit beautifully into the space due to the warm rich hues. Aside from the venue itself the staff is utterly perfect.
Linda Hylen, the venue coordinator could not be more helpful and accommodating. Our wedding reception was extremely complicated and detailed and she went out of her way to be sure all our dreams came true. She took care of every detail making the day incredibly relaxing and smooth for my husband and I. Her services alone are worth the price. The in-house caterer is one of the best chefs in San Francisco and our guests cannot stop talking about the incredible food and service. It was a perfect day and I know the ballroom and whole staff were a huge part of making the day so perfect. I highly recommend this venue and all the staff and services that are a part of it.

this place is amazing, clearly one of the most exclusive wedding locations on the west coast. it's smack in the center of downtown san francisco, but hidden away on the top floor of a beaux-arts building. a friend of mind had a swanky wedding reception there, and I was dazzled...that's for sure!

My husband and I were so pleased in our selection of the Merchants Exchange for our wedding. The space is just gorgeous, particularly after the remodeling they did over the past year. We actually selected the space before the remodel, so we felt like we really saw the difference.
In addition, the events director, Linda Hylen, is very accommodating and a helpful resource.

The room is gorgeous but don't believe the good reviews you see about Linda Hylen. She is very unprofessional, disorganized and a liar. All she cares about is grabbing your money and then she lets the ball drop. Not responsive, cold, phony... just a mess. Stay away from her!!
This is a beautiful venue with a top notch staff and a wonderful atmosphere. As a photographer, there are so many great views into the room, and the bar area is also a great place to get those emotional candid moments. The look is classic San Francisco, and the downstairs street entry area opens up to wonderful barrel-roofed atrium that works well for cocktails before the guest move upstairs to the Merchants Exchange rooms. A great location for a memorable wedding day event.
