From the tasting to the actual day of the wedding, they were flawless. The cake was absolutely delicious and I was excited to have so many of our different flavors incorporated on our special day. The design of the cake was elegant and they took care of our family airloom that served as our cake topper. I also think it is a good value that they will bake you a fresh personal cake opposed to having to freeze your cake for your 1st anniversary. Nice touch!

I literally received the comment for multiple people "this is the most delicious wedding cake I've ever had and I hate wedding cake!" Seriously, it was the best! It was delicious and beautiful. Logistics were painless and I can't thank Just Cakes enough!

Just Cakes of Bethesda did and awesome job with our wedding cake. I worked with the store manager Susan who decorated the cake. We ordered well known cake from our Island and Susan got all the ingredients right. The flavors included almond, guava and pineapple jam. It was a 5 tier cake which included shapes of a hexagon, round, square, and a globe. The cake was amazing and we got compliments all night about how great it tasted! Thank you Susan for an awesome wedding cake! we LOVED it!

Just Cakes did a great job with our wedding cake! Through our venue we had the option to go with Just Cakes or another local bakery. After having a tasting at both bakeries, Just Cakes was hands down the best bakery to go with! During our tasting, my husband and I met with the baker and she explained the different options we had and the different cake and frosting flavors we were trying. She gave great suggestions as to what would work and we booked them that day. We didn't have to do anything beforehand expect bring in our cake topper and ribbon that they were going to put on the cake. They arranged everything else with the venue! This was so nice as it was one less thing I had to worry about right before the wedding day. The cake was delicious and all of our guests loved it!

Just Cakes did a phenomenal job with our wedding cake. It turned out exactly as we expected and we received so many complements on how awesome it tasted.

We had a great experience at the tasting. My husband and I both got our own individual sample plate filled with cakes, icing and fillings to choose from. There were several books to peruse through so that we could get ideas on how we wanted our cake to look. We didn’t feel rushed or pressured to make a decision right away.

Their prices did seem a tad high compared to some other notable cake shops in the area BUT their cakes did taste better. Also their delivery fee seemed a little steep considering our wedding venue was less than three miles from the store.

Overall we had a great experience and would recommend Just Cakes to...

Beautiful and delicous cakes. We are a military family and they were more than willing to work with us through our hechtic planning. They were very nice and reasurring the entire time. I would use them again.

Even people who don't eat wedding cake ate our cake! It was delicious.
The tasting was lots of fun. The baker brought the plate of different cakes and icings and fillings, explained what we were to do and left us alone, which was fantastic! The staff came by to check on us and answer questions, but for the most part left us alone. Therefore, we didn't feel any unnecessary pressure.
But, the cake was delicious, and beautiful. I highly recommend Just Cakes for any occassion.

What a tasty cake! My husband and I had so much fun tasting the various flavors that Just Cakes provides, and of course had a tough time deciding. We settled on the amaretto cake with cream cheese icing, and our guests just loved it!

We had asked for a very simple cake, however, we asked to have a quote written on it. We were pretty dissapointed with the way it looked. The letters were different sizes and the placement seemed off. Not to mention when we came to pick it up on the eve of the wedding, we had to wait for 30 minutes as they finished it up. It looked a bit rushed.

But regardless of the way it looked, the most important thing, however, is that it tasted amazing! That, and Just Cakes recreates your cake topper on your one-year anniversary for free! I can't wait to try it...

Just Cakes recreated my wedding cake for my 25th Anniversary vow renewal. It was absolutely perfect. The original cake had roses and seed pearl buttercream decorations, chocolate cake and rasberrt chambord filling. The only change was rasberry buttercream, since they didn't have chambord filling as an option. All my guests remarked on how beautiful the cake looked and how great it tasted.

My only reservation about Just Cakes was the delivery fee was so high I had to pick up and transport the cake myself. Since they are not open on Sunday, this meant I had to pick it up on Saturday, transport it to a interim refrigerator and then onto the event the next day. Thankfully, I did not drop it or ruin it, but it was pretty stressful and not something I would like to repeat.

Our cake turned out beautifully, but I wish that Just Cakes was able to place our flowers between the tiers of our cake for us. My sister did it for us, but it would have been easier if everything was done.

Nothing exceptional, either negative or positive, to report. One thing that is different about Just Cakes is that an anniversary cake, made one year from the wedding date, is included with the cake (so you don't have to worry about freezing your top...

We love Just Cakes! Lindsey did an amazing job on the cake that we designed. She was able to make it special and unique to show our personality. She was able to work with our heavy cake topper that never moved or crushed the cake. Not to mention the cake was delicious! We loved a lot of the flavors during the cake testing so she was able to make each layer of the cake a different flavor. The almond cake is amazing. We couldn't be happier with Just Cakes and Lindsey!

Just Cakes made my dream wedding cake. The tasting was amazing-so many options to choose from and we didn't feel pressured at all. The staff was responsive and professional. We had so many guests comment that it was the best tasting wedding cake they have ever had. You even get a free top tier on your anniversary so you don't have to worry with freezing and eating year old cake.

I am totally in love with my wedding cake, and am sad its gone! I owe this to Just Cakes. They took my vision and my pictures of other cakes and totally made my dream cake come true. My cake was delicious and beautiful. Lindsay was great to work with, and everything truly looked just as I had envisioned. Absolutely beautiful! Guests raved about the taste. Also, there was a last minute mishap with there not being enough ribbon, but they called us and we were able to come up with a solution together and it went perfectly! I would recommend Just Cakes to anyone.

Just Cakes was the most expensive out of the 3 bakeries we tried, but they, by far, had the MOST delicious cake. We had 2 flavors: almond cake with raspberry curd and lemon cake with lemon frosting. Simply amazing. Monique was our consultant and she was very helpful. The staff is super friendly. The whole process was seamless and I would recommend them over and over again!

After encountering my first taste "experience" with Marge Schinnerer's, Just Cakes, I knew I always wanted Just Cakes for my wedding. Marge is an absolute delight - her creativity, delicious recipes and innovation in baking make your wedding cake one to remember. She produces a two-part tasting; a one on one with about 6 different cake flavors, 6 different fillings and 6 different icings. After, she bakes mini-cakes to taste - then you make your selection. Marge and her team are truly the most joyful to work with, they become friends and partners of your wedding. We decided on a five-tier cake; chocolate/vanilla butter cream, vanilla/vanilla butter cream, lemon w/lemon curd/raspberries/vanilla butter cream, carrot cake, almond w/strawberry mousse/vanilla butter cream. The entire cake was gone at our wedding and after talking to guests, just about everyone enjoyed 2-3 pieces of cake! If you're looking for a wedding cake to remember, there is no other bakery than Just Cakes. They are truly the most incredible bakery and will create any cake you envision or dream.

Our cake was so delicious! We wanted a simple, tasty cake for our 35 person wedding and that is exactly what Just Cakes gave us. The cake tasting was super fun and we had to keep getting taste samples because we had a hard time deciding on flavors. Just Cakes was very flexible and I would definitely recommend them.

Just Cakes made a beautiful wedding cake for us that not only included four layers of different cakes and fillings, but a custom designed pattern to match the colors and graphics of our invitations and overall theme. It was truly the centerpiece of our reception and our guests were absolutely impressed and wowed by the final product. As pretty as it was, it was also very delicious! We enjoyed trying all the various flavor combinations and the vendor made it easy to work with them as they were super flexible with designs, combinations, etc. Additionally, we were planning from NYC so they worked with us to email us sketches and other information so we didn't have to always travel to make decisions. They also will make us a new "top tier" with whatever flavor/cake combo for our one year anniversary so we don't have to save the original one and try to swallow stale, frozen cake! I highly recommend them for any event!

So yummy! We had a few cakes and cupcakes and they did it just the way I wanted with the set up. There was a change to the piping on the sides of the cake for some reason. I didn't care; I got rave reviews for the taste. They were also flexible and let me add on a pretty significant cake shaped like a building in the last 2 weeks before the wedding.

The wedding cake was AMAZING from Just Cakes! My fiance, mom, brother and I had so muh fun going to the store front for our tasting. Everyone there is friendly and easy to work with. It is a family owned business and the cake was not only stunningly beautiful, but SO DELICIOUS!!! Everybody at our reception was commenting about the cake and asking us who baked it. Our 1 year anniversary next May can't come soon enough...can't wait to eat it again! You absolutely can't go wrong with anything from Just Cakes in Bethesda!!!

Our cake from Just Cakes was amazing. We were originally supposed to have a cake sourced as part of our wedding package at our venue, but after two very disappointing tastings we decided we needed to find our own baker. I think it was only a month or so before the wedding that we went to Just Cakes and they we just so easy to work with. The tasting format was wonderful, I really like how they present the different frostings, fillings, and cake flavors and sort of let you mix and match on your own to find the flavor you want. We ended up choosing a 3-layer cake (two vanilla, one chocolate) with fresh raspberries in the cake mix, chocolate ganache filling and cream cheese frosting. SOooooooo Delicious!

We had a cupcake tower from just cakes and it was wonderful. They were the best cupcakes I've ever had and were a total hit at the wedding. Not only were they yummy, but they looked really pretty. I especially enjoyed the cake tasting. They offered a variety of cakes, fillings and icings, so you could mix and match flavors. The cost was a little pricey for our budget, but it was well worth it.

For our wedding reception, we opted for cupcake towers rather than a traditional cake. Just Cakes provided phenomenal cupcakes that had our guests raving. They're slightly expensive (don't expect that cupcakes will save you any money over a regular cake), but worth it.

Almost all of my guests raved about the cupcakes, even one who is a professional chef herself. Not only was the arrangement gorgeous (and exactly what we'd envisioned), but they tasted fabulous. And Stephen Scholz did a fabulous job of working with our schedule, and making sure it was delivered on time to the venue.

I had a difficult time finding a place to bake a beautiful non-traditional cake without busting my budget. I found, as soon as I said "wedding", the price went up astronomically. I finally gave up and started asking for cakes for my 'bridal shower'. This is when I found Just Cakes. Wonderful. We had an impromptu tasting of 8 different cupcakes with the different cake flavors. I loved all of them. I had three cakes (8, 10, and 12 inch cakes), all decorated differently with my wedding colors, made for well within my budget. The cakes were decorated beautifully and tasted delicious. I may have been willing to pay 'wedding' prices for them!

We were very happy with the quality of the cupcakes - we had a great first and second tasting experience.
Unfortunately, they rated somewhat low for us as far as responsiveness. We had a difficult time getting answers to numerous voicemails and emails, and were left not receiving a contract until a couple days before the wedding. And then we were faced with numerous additional fees that we didn't know about up front, but couldn't refuse at that point.
Fortunately, they were apologetic about things and polite -- and offered to reduce some of the fees, which was very professional of them. I would be willing to try them again -- the cupcakes really were good.
Also, the price includes a new cake on our 1-year anniversary, so we are excited about that!

We loved our wedding cake!!! They did exactly what we want. The cakes are delicius!!! the best butter cream!

We chose Just Cakes to provide our wedding cake and were satisfied and happy with them, overall.

Pros:
-The tasting was so much fun! They invite you into their incredibly cute shop, give you a cup of coffee (which was really delicious, by the way- we ended up buying a package of it), and seat you at a small cafe table. The tasting consists of little slices of each kind of cake they make (chocolate, almond, vanilla, carrot, etc) and little blobs of the different kinds of icings so that you can dip them in each and mix and match to see what kind you like. Delicious and fun!
-The cake tasted amazing. We got the top layer made of chocolate cake with raspberry curd icing and the bottom layer was carrot cake with cream cheese icing. The way they make carrot cake is absolutely exquisite. No nuts- just cake that tastes absolutely delicious.
-The icing and ribbon were very smooth and professional looking. They looked exactly right. I had them match the color of the cake to the cake topper that I made and it matched perfectly.
-Ashley and Steve were very helpful and responsive.
-They told us that we do not have to save a layer of the cake to freeze for our one year anniversary because they provide a small cake for free! How convenient and thoughtful. We really really liked that special touch.

Cons:
-The cake topper that I provided was put on wrong. I cut it to the length that one of the people in the shop told me to and it was sticking out of the top! I mean, everyone knows that the cake topper is supposed to be flush with the top of the cake right?! You could see the dowel that it was posted on. You would think that, given that we had this cake made off one they had done before, they would see that it was wrong and fix it. I was disappointed when I saw that at the reception.
-Even though the reception location was less than a half mile away from the cake shop, they charged us for the delivery. I thought that was a little unfair- I feel that they could have at least offered a discount since it was literally right around the corner.

I only had one week to travel from out of state to find a bakery to do my wedding cake. We hit several places and then found this one and ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh that was the best tasting (both in taste and presentation) I have ever had! Moist and flavorful - not a sometimes typical dry cake. They worked with me via phone and email until we came up with THE cake for our wedding. Sadly, the top never made it to the freezer for our first anniversary - we ate it! Will have to order a replacement for it. But as the contract was done via email, there was a problem about when final payment was due that I had to correct them on. Other than that and making sure my allergies were addressed - loved my cake.

Just Cakes provides a great finished product. We had cupcakes, a small cake on top and a groom's cake. All looked and tasted PERFECT. Guests raved and many people had seconds which was nice to see! The planning process was ok. We planned the tasting; took off from work early and drove to the bakery; they did not have us in the books. While they did whip up everything quickly, it was a little scary to think this was not in their books. A few blips and miscommunication along the way, but we are very glad that we chose to work with them. Their cupcakes are the best, even if they cost a little bit more than all of the other bakeries we met with.

Just Cakes provided us with a beautiful, delicious, customized wedding cake at a reasonable price.

We worked with Steve to plan our cake design. He was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and friendly, and we had a great time during the whole process (especially the during the tasting). Just Cakes did a stellar job delivering what we wanted at a price we could afford.

The cake looked perfect, and our guests raved about how tasty it was. Some of our family members have even said they'll be going to Just Cakes for their next special occasion!

My wedding cake couldn't have tasted or looked any better! I was thrilled to have found Just Cakes! The people were so friendly and incredibly accommdating!

From the moment we went to our cake tasting, we knew we had made the right choice. Marge was super helpful and was able to help us make the right decision. She guided us through the different flavors, fillings and icings.

We ended up going with a 3 tiered cake. We chose almond with almond filling and buttercream frosting for the bottom layer and lemon with lemon filling and buttercream frosting for the 2 top layers. The cake was DELICIOUS!!! It was even better than at the cake tasting.

Forget about saving your top tier. Marge actually does an anniversary cake so you can have a fresh cake instead of a frozen stale one.

The cake was a little bit more than what we wanted to spend, but it was well worth it. At first, I was a little distraught about spending so much on the cake, but after the wedding I was glad because the cake ended up being so good.

They delivered the cake and set it up with no issues at all. Our experience with Just Cakes was great!

Our wedding cake was just like we wanted it to look like and were we ever impressed. The cake had multiple tiers and and was well decorated. The cake tasted very good and the cake was flavored vanilla with Vanilla Buttercream and the icing was Cream Cheese. You wouldn't believe all of the compliments we got on the cake and also how good of a service we got from Just Cakes as they were really nice to us.

My husband and I were looking for just a basic cake and Marge did I nice job with it. Unfortunately, most of our guests were so busy dancing that they didn't get to try it!

We started the process very excited after having a great cake tasting. We were greeted with great conversation, coffee, unlimited cake, frosting, and filling to try. Unfortunately, the kindness and respect we were given in the beginning did not last throughout the process. We were extremely embarrassed when our wedding coordinator was told we were delinquent with our payments when our contract clearly stated that the last payment was due on the day of the wedding. When we brought this to their attention they refused to work with us and still demanded final payment before we saw the final product. When we did get the cake, the frosting was smeared in one section, and one layer was stale and dry. The cake we had fallen in love with at the tasting and which we had looked forward to for so long, was not the cake we ate on our wedding day.

Choosing a cake was the hardest decision we made. We did tastings at 7 bakeries. I like sweeter icing and my husband likes more buttery icing. I am so happy that we went with Just Cakes. The cake tasted wonderful and was the perfect mix between our two styles. My husband continues to comment about how the actual cake tasted so much better than the cake we had at our tasting. The design was exactly like the photo I submitted. Their prices were slightly higher than some of the other bakeries we considered though.

Back before we were even engaged (but discussing marriage) my husband said that when he got married he didn't want to have a wedding cake because he was convinced that no one actually eats them. I countered with my own experience of indeed having eaten cakes at weddings, but having had none that was anything to write home about.

Our entire reception was pretty little bites of various foods - hors d'ouevres and whatnot - and we thought it would be fun if dessert could be the same way. So in addition to some lovely little accompanying desserts, we decided to have cupcakes instead of a large cake. We bought 100 base-priced cupcakes from them.

Just Cakes is a charming little shop in Bethesda and easy enough to walk to from the metro for non-car folks like ourselves. The smell is heavenly and the tastes are just as good. They did a cake tasting for us and we knew right away that we wanted to go with them. I am a great baker myself and am picky about store-bought baked goods - I often find them bland, too dry, made with cheaper ingredients (e.g. veg. oil instead of butter), or even find sometimes that they've been stored in plastic that leaves a faint flavor on them. Not so with Just Cakes - scrumptious and lovely!!!

Their prices ended up being better than many other cupcake places we had investigated, especially considering that they were happy to do exactly what we had in mind, instead of us needing to choose through existing selections. They even called to check in from the kitchen on the day they were baking them to make sure that they had interpreted the order the right way.

They had a display stand which they rented us, and Marge herself brought them down to the hotel and arranged them as we had discussed. She was a charming and kind person and seemed to truly be glad for us and enjoy working with us. All of the rest of the staff that we dealt with were equally friendly and courteous.

They even were so flexible as to allow me to have candied rose petals shipped to them (they don't have them on hand and they could have ordered them for me but it would have been a lot more costly) from a shop I'd found online and kept them in their pantry until our wedding.

They turned out just lovely and everyone exclaimed about how delicious they were. (And proved it by leaving very few leftovers even though we bought extras just in case!)

If I *had* to give one downside, it would be that the delivery fee is pretty steep - it was nearly 1/3 the cost of our cake order. BUT, it really wouldn't have been wise to not go with them because if a friend picked them up and they got bumped on the way to the venue, too bad for us. If anything had happened while they were with Marge, the business would have been responsible for taking care of it. On top of that, they normally charge extra beyond that for setup but didn't in our case because we didn't want any kind of elaborate arrangements - just stacked prettily on the stand that we had rented. Something to check about though, if you would want to have flowers or greenery arranged with your cake.

Overall, our experience with them was wodnerful and we would recommend them to anyone.

Marge and her cake-making team were absolutely superb! Our guests raved about our almond cake with raspberry filling and chocolate cake with hazelnut filling. We tasted 3 other cake vendors prior to visiting Just Cakes and we were disappointed with the taste and the service. When we arrived to meet with Marge, we were greeted with a smile and a perfectly pleasant bakery atmosphere. Her cakes tasted light and fluffy and moist and the buttercream was amazing. The flavors and textures clearly stood out and it was obvious that she cared about having our business. On the day of the wedding, the cake far surpassed our expectations and was absolutely beautiful! I would highly recommend Just Cakes for any bride and groom looking for a wedding cake that stands out above the rest!

I only ordered a cake for the Bridesmaid Luncheoun that I hosted for my bridesmaids. I told Just Cakes exactly what I wanted and they went above and beyond to make the cake. I requested a Chocoloate Cake with strawberries in the middle layer and vanilla cream. Then I wanted the cake to look like a present. They delivered a high-end quality cake that looked exactly like a red present with a white ribbon around the cake. They even managed to tie on a card that said "Thank you for all of your support". It got many rave reviews and comments. However, the cake was pricey $76 that fed 8 people.

Our cake was sooooo good! We selected a complicated/intricate design, but Marge and her team were able to come up with something great. The best part is that we can come back on our one year anniversary and Marge will send us home with a fresh cake!

Barbara was amazing. She dealt with both my mother and me. She created my cake to an exact tee! She was super friendly and very helpful. The cake prices aren't that cheap, but are totally worth the price. She was always professional and courteous. She could also be reached by e-mail or by phone which also helped me since I was doing everything long distance.

What I loved about Just cakes,is that when you walked in it actually smells like a homemade bakery and feels that way. Very personable. The cake and the options are delicious(of course we had to go back for another tasting , to bring back Mom). Once we decided on the cake she actually prepared a replica for us to take home and have a tasting with family/in laws etc...I love the fact that instead of keeping a frozen cake. On your 1 year anniversary she will again bake your wedding cake at no cost. I highly recommend this bakery. We travelled around the entire beltway. This was by far the best for a wedding(special,unique , at hom efeeling)

Their cakes are moist and delicious, especially their carrot cake! Our cake was an octagonal cut, three tier, almond cake with hazelnut filling and buttercream icing. The only thing is that my coordinators informed me that the people who delivered the cake was a bit late - but I anticipate it's due to not knowing where exactly the alumni center is. Also, I was told we would have flowers on the corners of our cake, but we did not see any on the cake. The cake ended up looking a bit empty. I did leave it up to the bakers on how the cake would look (i.e. if it would look too busy) but that was regarding the cake toppers.

They were able to get the Chinese character for double happiness done well and they put it on a piece of what I anticipate is marizpan or chocolate, and then placed it on the cake. Unfortunately I did not tell the caterers that I wanted to keep that piece. It was done very well. The leftover cake kept for a good week and a half after the wedding, non-refrigerated.

Talking to Marge and her staff regarding the layout of the cake was very easy and pleasant.

I went to a few different places to taste cakes but this was by far the best.... I had a hard time choosing which one I wanted. Finally settled on a cake that two tiers and two flavours. They helped me decided and gave wonderful suggestions on what would work.
Not only was the help fantastic the cake was without doubt the best I have ever tasted. People were clamoring to get more and I got calls after the wedding to see if there was any left.
On our anniversary we received a small cake of the original flavour at no extra cost.
I don't think they are cheap, but no more expensive than the other I tasted that weren't in the same league.
I would definitely recommend them to anyone in the DC area... the best wedding cake EVER!!!!

I love Just Cakes ! Just Cakes is a boutique style bakery specializing in upscale American sweets, but Marge also has a wonderful pastry chef on site who will custom design your one-of-a-kind wedding cake. The cakes are fresh and flavorful and always beautifully decorated. Better than that, you will get excellent hands-on service from Marge and her team. There are many bakeries and cake vendors in the Maryland, DC, Virginia area -- but only a handful who are worth every penny you spend on their perfectly crafted works of love.
