Justin Orr Photography

I never thought I would be a photographer when I grew up.  I can't imagine that many kids actually say 'I want to be an awesome photographer when I grow up!!'.  I graduated from Western Washington University with a BS in Organic Chemistry in 2002, where the beginnings of my photography journey began.  
   My roomates for the last four years of college were either Photojournalism majors or Geology majors, and they taught me the basics of photography.  The love, passion, hard work, and experimentation. I had the perfect duo of mentors: learning to tell a story with pictures via my photojournalism friend and capturing the beauty of a simple moment from my geology friend.  We had the only key to the dark room in the Geology department and would develop film all night long and learned the 'old fashioned' way before Photoshop was king of post editing.
   I finally graduated, thank God, but realized that the lab environment was not my cup of tea.  I then made the best move of my life.  I moved to Maui, Hawaii.  Nowhere near the confines of a laboratory, I was in a photographer's heaven.
   I love mixing up the type of photography that I do.  Family portraits, corporate photography, food and wine, music and bands, travel, and of course wedding photography.  
   Having learned from some of Maui's great wedding photographers such as Peter Thompson, Doug Hoffman, and Bill Stockwell, I have developed my own fun, creative and artsy style.  I like to have as much fun as possible with my clients.  It's infectious.  I start laughing, so you start to laugh, and then SNAP!!  A great picture is taken.
