Kate Ashbrook Photography was ABSOLUTELY wonderful. I have a strong type A personality so I formally interviewed over 8 photographers in the Charlotte area prior to selecting Kate, not including the informal interviews at all of the bridal shows. I was VERY particular about my photographer selection. To me, it is one of the MOST important vendor selections of the wedding. These are the images that you will look at to relive the day for the rest of your life. I originally met Kate and her family at the Carolina Bride Show. Brian and I drove out to meet her at her studio. It was important to me to find someone who was AFFORDABLE, fun and nice to work with (we were going to be with this woman for a couple days since she was doing our engagement session, bridal portrait AND wedding) and produced pictures that were NOT the standard wedding pictures. I had been dragging Brian to all of the interviews and when we departed her studio and I told him she was the one we wanted to photograph our special day! She was fun and willing to go outside the box (for example, she was willing to incorporate our dogs into our engagement session in multiple locations in uptown Charlotte and in the NoDa areas). Again, I had interviewed MANY photographers and her prices were the most competitive for what I was looking for in a package. My mother feel in love with Kate at my bridal portrait session and that was ANOTHER plus. Kate asked me if it was ok to have her mother cover the wedding day with her and I was VERY happy with that decision. The two of them were AMAZING and everyone in my family LOVED them. At times, you didn't even know they were there to capture the moment and yet directly after the ceremony they were the ones in charge, NO QUESTIONS and again I LOVED that they were in charge. We have large and loud families and these two petite women had everyone in place and pictures flowing quickly.
I would highly recommend Kate to anyone! She was absolutely AMAZING!

After looking at Kate Ashbrook Photography's website, I knew she was the perfect photographer for us. We still met with her to see what she was all about and look at her photos. After that, we were sold. She even directed us to a location to hold our wedding. She was very accommodating on times and meeting spots. My wedding pictures turned out better than I could have ever imagined. It was a fairytale. Everything was perfect and I wouldn't trade the amazing shots I have for any others. I have even had people tell me that the photos she took of us could be used in advertisements because they are just so perfectly done. The touch ups are flawless and the colors are perfect. With something that will always be able to look at and enjoy your wedding, I think Kate Ashbrook is definitely the way to go. I would recommend her to any bride in the Charlotte area.
Kate is an excellent photographer who ensures that all of her finished work is flawless. She edits everything and makes all of her photos very colorful. She works alone, but her sister and mother are photographers as well and are available to assist her if need be. She posts sessions on her blog, and has the photos online within a week of the session. Her packages vary, and the only one that includes the copyright to all of your photos is her most expensive package. I had to pay an additional fee to get my copyrights. Photography is very expensive and one of the most important vendors one can book for their wedding, because those are the memories that will last a lifetime.
When I started looking for the perfect wedding photographer (and yes, when I say perfect, I mean perfect! Photography was the most important decision for me!), I really didn't know where to turn! I spent hours looking at photography websites, but nothing really popped out at me. I came across some of Kate's pictures in a wedding magazine. As soon as I saw them, I knew I HAD to meet with her! When we arrived at her studio, she made us feel extremely comfortable within the first few minutes. My dh is normally shy but she really drew him out and had him excited about the photography aspect. She really listened to our ideas and incorporated them into our wedding.
Every time I view our wedding album, I relive the most amazing day of my life...sometimes I get choked up when I view the pictures, other times they just bring a smile to my face. Kate truly captured EVERY emotion of the day. I am so in love with my pictures. I was hoping for artsy, creative pictures and that's exactly what I got and then some. The album is just GORGEOUS- I get so many compliments on it! I'm so proud to show it off.
I just absolutely LOVED the entire experience with Kate! We had so much fun cracking up together during our engagement session and my bridal portraits. I normally HATE having my picture taken, but she really made it fun. You can't go wrong with her as your photographer. The best photographers are usually booked a year in advance so don't wait too long or you will miss out! And if you miss out, you might consider rescheduling your wedding date because it is worth it to have the photographer of your dreams. (If you are reading this Kate- I heart you! Thanks for everything!)
