I had a GREAT experience at Katherine's. I'm not sure what people found to complain about! I found the perfect dress and was so impressed with the staff and atmosphere. The owner, Katherine, and the consultant who assisted us, Kathleen, could not have been more helpful and enjoyable to work with. Kathleen picked out dresses that were exactly my style and they were so patient and helpful while I took my time deciding between 2 final options. I ended up with the perfect dress & veil and was so happy with the overall experience. My mom & I were both thrilled with the selection of dresses, the prices, and the fabulous service. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone!!!

I was really dreading the dress buying experience (standing naked in a dressing room with a stranger throwing massive dresses at me), but I have to say Kathleen at Katherine's made the day very easy. Kathleen has worked there forever, and really knows her stuff.I gave her an idea of what I was looking for and information about my wedding and reception (very important information that should go into your dress decision) and she was off and running. I found the perfect dress, in fact it was the first one I tried on :)

I went to Katherines because they carry Maggie Sottero gowns and 2 of my friends got their Maggie gowns there. The 3 of us had positive experiences, me in particular. My friends advised to come with pictures of dresses you like, and to trust they consultants, they are professionals. I went in with pictures of my 2 top dresses, tried them both on, and explained to shanna what I liked/didnt like. She then went and pulled "the" dress. I did end up trying on others, even at other places, and it was still that 3rd dress. Rosslyns in Falls Church had the Maggies dress at a cheaper price, but since I felt more comfortable at Katherines I told them and they matched the price. And its true, you could spend months trying on dress after dress and you just have to make a decision, which the consultants relay- but its a bit stressful if you feel like you are worried about making the wrong choice or arent 100%. My dress was altered perfectly and I loved my wedding dress! (Maggie - Dominique) Once I found the dress, it would take a while for it to get in obviously, and then the wedding was months away. I really wanted my grandmother to see me in my wedding dress, but wasnt sure if she would make it to the wedding. I called Katherines and explained, and they said to come in (on a busy Saturday) and they would accommadate. We loaded up my 90 yo grandma, on oxygen and headed to Katherines and they popped me in the dressing room real quick and helped me in to the sample gown of the one I bought. My grandma didnt make it to the wedding and passed away a month following, before we even got photos. Having that memory and experience of her with me at Katherines, seeing me in my wedding dress, is something I will always remember, and am grateful to those at Katherines who made it possible. For that reason alone Id recommend Katherines to anyone. The only negatives/reccommendations would be they could tone down the pressure a bit, parking is an issue, not being able to look through the gowns, and not be able to take a picture are both really disapointing - those are all things brides want for an enjoyable and stress free experience.

Absolutely loved my dress! The boutique is small but personable, and the staff was wonderful.

I bought my dress off the rack over a year before my wedding, asked for it to be ready early, and they still gave it to me at the last minute. When I first tried on the dress, it was strapless. I mentioned several times that I didn't want a strapless dress, and the saleswoman assured me that they could create a back and sleeves for me by cutting off the train of my dress. They scheduled me for several fittings, the first three of which the dress looked exactly the same as it had the time before. During the third fitting, the seamstress told me that the back and sleeves I wanted would not be possible, and also warned me against cutting off the train (which I had requested the first two times I went in). She insisted that I'd regret it, and then asked me which church I was getting married in. When I told her it would not be a religious ceremony, she said, "Oh, well, then you're right. You don't need a train." I was pretty annoyed with this answer. When I tried to talk to her about the back I wanted for the dress, she was friendly but dismissive and kept trying to talk me into a halter top. I ended up having to talk to the manager, and explained that I paid for the dress in full and my ticket said that a back and sleeves would be created. After some back and forth, the owner and the seamstress agreed that I should get what I want. I scheduled two more fittings that were not honored (I walked in both times and they said, "You have an appointment? Oh no you do! I'm sorry! Your dress is not ready yet!"), and finally had to speak to the manager AGAIN to make sure my dress would be ready on time. When I went in for the final fitting, I noticed that the sleeves were a bit off; they were not sewn on properly to the front of the dress, and were crooked. The seamstress said she'd fix it and had me come in the next day to pick it up. When I tried the dress on again, the sleeves looked EXACTLY the same. I was floored--they obviously had not done a thing to it from the day before, and there were strings hanging from random parts of the dress. Because I had already paid in full, they did not let me argue that they had to fix it then and there. Luckily, my father is a tailor, and he was able to fix the uneven sleeves the day before the wedding. They had also not lined the lace back and sleeves from the inside, so my back and shoulders were rubbed raw after wearing the dress all day. Other than the professionalism and sleeves debacles, the dress was beautiful and fit very well. If someone had to buy a dress from this place, I'd say to just get it off the rack and get it altered elsewhere.

Katherine's was very helpful during my wedding dress search. I would not use their website to identify what dresses they have I would suggest you go to their store and look around. Katherine is very accommodating and they have a great selection of dresses at many different price points.
GUEST

There is nothing bad or great to say! I think that the sales person did a great job at helping me pick out dresses, although I wanted to try on more. They held my dress until the wedding day and made sure that I was happy with the alterations.
GUEST

First let me say that I LOVED my dress. However, I would could not recommend this store to anyone. I had to fight every inch of the process in order to have my dress CORRECTED after they mistakenly cut the train off my dress and had to replace it with alternate fabric. I was extremely disappointed in my alterations. If you find a dress there then have it altered somewhere else. It completely tarnished my entire dress experience.
GUEST

The only thing that I liked about my experience was the actual dress. The alteration fees were ridiculously expensive. I had an appointment for my final fitting and when I got there I was made to wait and then shown to a room and just left to get into the dress by myself with absolutely no help. The top was still too big and when I asked about it I was told by the seamstress that there was nothing else she could do. You mean I paid almost $500 for alterations and you tell me there is nothing you can do! Her best advice was to use Hollywood tape which I foolishly thought could work. I was told that I could pick up my dress anytime after 11 on the Thurs before my wedding and when I got there at noon I was told that they were just finishing up and it would be 20 minutes. I begrudgingly waited and when that time was up and I asked I kept being told 10 more minutes. I had a ton to do that day and would have never of waited had I known how long it would take. I kept getting excuses but it wasn't until I got really upset (after over an hour) that my dress finally appeared. They have the absolute worst customer service. Only buy your dress from them if they are the only shop within 100 miles that has a dress you can't live without.

We were lucky enough to work with Kathleen, who was VERY sweet. I can't say enough nice things about her. She remembered me and my wedding venue months later when I picked up the dress (note: Kathleen alone deserves a 5.) They also made some small changes to the dress that they'd promised when I purchased it (Free of charge.) I can't say the same for some of her colleagues, unfortunately. I feel like your bridal shopping experience should be met with excitement. I'm not asking for pampering or a song and dance, just a positive attitude. Katherine's staff seemed very underwhelmed... almost annoyed. In addition, we had to wait 45 minutes past our appointment time for service. I usually wouldn't mind, but we didn't receive an apology (or even acknowledgement, really) from the staff. It also kept us from making it to another salon after this since my visiting family was on a time crunch. I'd still recommend the salon, as they have a very great selection and very good prices (MANY dresses in 1-2k range.) Just suggest Kathleen as your consultant. I'd also suggest taking the dress elsewhere for alterations after reading some of the other reviews. I went to Angie Cavallero for alternations (works out of her home in Fairfax)- she did a PHENOMENAL job for a great price.
GUEST

I chose Katherine's for my dress and veil - both of which were perfect. They worked with me to find the right dress for my venue and personal taste. The staff really listens to what you like and don't like, and honors your budget. I highly recommend putting them on your short list when looking for your dress.

I had a fantastic experience with Kathleen at katherine's. I thought I knew what I wanted for a dress, and described that to kathleen. She pulled dresses that were what I thought I wanted, and one that she thought was what I should try. The dress she picked for me was amazing, and something I never would have picked myself. I loved it and she worked with me to make some changes with the designer. My dress came in a few weeks ahead of schedule which was also nice, and barely needed any alterations.I also ordered my bridesmaids dresses from the store, and they were beautiful. I agree with some of the other comments that the size chart resulted in some of the girls getting dresses that needed significant alternations, but not sure I can fault the store for that. All of the dresses arrived on time, and Kathleen shipped them to each girl individually.I had a fantastic experience and thank Kathleen for finding me the dress I didn't know I wanted!

I was very happy with Katherine's Bridal Boutique. I gave them my budget and they never once tried to sell me a dress over my budget. Shannon looked at my body type and brought out dresses that flattered my body and made the dress process simple!!! I ended up buying a floor model for discounted price and they made sure everything was tacked, pressed and perfect for the day of!! LOVED this bridal shop!
GUEST

They were the only shop in all of No. Va. who had the one dress I had seen in a magazine. They let me come in the morning I saw it and I bought it right then and there. Very sweet ladies who alter too.

I had a great experience dress shopping at Katherine's! Azam was the salesperson who helped me and she was so sweet and helpful. I went there for an Alvina Valenta trunk show without an apt. and was helped promptly anyway. I got my dress, veil, tiarai & 2 of my bridesmaid dresses from Katherine's. I went for 3 fittings before picking up the dress and the lady who did the tailoring was so sweet. My only complaint with the place is that I know the mother of one of my friend's who is adept at negotiating got a special deal for my friend who also got her wedding dress at Katherine's to get a lot of free stuff -- including free veil, alterations, and tiara which kind of makes me feel cheated because I payed full price. Then again, I have never been good at trying to get stuff for free & didn't even try.
GUEST

My dress shopping experience was fabulous. I had a big group, but they didn't mind and didn't rush us. They give you the total experience by clipping and accessorizing each dress so you can get an idea of what it will look like. Don't let any bridal shop tell you that you have to spend a ton of money to get a nice dress (Hannelore's). Katherine's never up-sold me and never pressured me into spending more than I wanted to. I loved my dress. I made several changes to the original design and the team at Katerine's was friendly and responsive throughout the entire process. I never had to settle. The quality of the alterations was outstanding. We had some issues with the bridesmaid dresses for out-of-town bridesmaids...because of the size chart my most petite bridesmaid was told she had to order a size 12 (she's a size 2) and one bridesmaid's dress got sent to another bridesmaid, but it all worked out in the end. Overall, very happy with my experience.

I LOVED MY DRESS!!!

The ladies at Katherine's were so wonderful to work with. I had dreaded wedding dress shopping and they made me feel comfortable right off the bat. I ended up having my dress changed from its original design, and they worked right with me and made me feel comfortable and confident that it would turn out just as I wanted it. They found me a dress that was well below my price range, and when they saw that I loved it they didn't encourage me to try some that were more expensive, which I really appreciated. The only reason I rated them a 4.0 in Quality of Service was that 2 of the bustle strings broke during the night & we had to figure out a way to rig it using safety pins.

DO NOT GO TO KATHERINES, THERE ARE SO MANY BETTER PLACES IN THE DC AREA THAT DESERVE YOUR BUSINESS. I have been to 10 bridal shops across Virginia and Katherine's Bridal in Alexandria was the worst experience I could imagine. I felt like Julia Roberts in pretty woman from the moment I stepped in-which is odd because I'm a well-dressed real estate agent. Katherine herself is incredibly rude and not at all helpful-I don't know how she gets away with this in the service industry. I arrived for my 11am appointment with one of my friends and I was very coldly greeted with a snippy and delayed "can I help you?". I said yes, I'm here for my 11 appointment and she said ok you will need to wait we are helping 2 other girls now. 45 MINUTES LATER Katherine said "ok, are you ready to try on dresses now?" Note that there was no apology and no real greeting from her. I don't even know why I waited but I did. I got into the dressing room and I tried on a very expensive dress (she didn't help me with the dress either which never happened in the 9 other stores I've been to). I then asked if she could show me some dresses under 2000 (there range is 800-5000 so that didn't seem crazy to me) and she NEVER came back to the dressing room. She was a positively awful and cold elitest woman. Plus the selection is small and there is no parking. I never leave reviews but I really felt compelled to save as many people from this horrendous experience as possible. Have fun and enjoy your dress shopping some where else :)

I bought my wedding dress and veil there and I was very happy with the service. Kathleen was the one who assisted me and she was just fantastic the whole way thru. She was very professional and had a great memory and always asked about my family, which I thought, was nice. She was also very accommodating to my schedule and to the fact that I had lost 30lbs so alterations were a bit of struggle. My only disappointment was with part of the alterations; my bustle was not done correctly and ended up falling during the reception. I will take some blame since I was not firm with what I wanted but otherwise I was extremely satisfied!

Before I begin on what I didn't like let me just say that Kathleen is the most amazing employee at Katherine's Bridal ever. She makes you feel so good when you are in there and she can tell when you find what you want and she is very kind. As far as price I felt like they were trying to stick anything that costs tons of money on me to make me buy it. Plus I came one day when the store was about to close and they seemed to care more about leaving than answering my questions or giving me an idea of what I should do next. Plus after reviewing with others about how much they paid for alterations I suggest that you NOT get your dress altered at the store. I DO suggest you buy your dress there though. I believe the cost for just the dress was reasonable. (Even after I paid $400 to get my dress altered there were still strings and such that needed to be cut)

I purchased my gown, veil and all my bridesmaids dresses at Katherines. The staff there and specifically Kathleen made our experience the most memorable exerience ever. She was outstaning in assisting with my gown selection and her recommedations were a major plus in my buying decision. Thank you Katherines for assiting in my dream come true.

I purchased my wedding gown from Katherine's Boutique. We had been to multiple places, and found that they had the best selection out of everyone. The dress was priced fair, but my only set back was in the alterations. I was fortunate enough to fit into my dress perfectly with only small hem needed, but was still charged $365. I understand that it is difficult to alter wedding dresses, but I felt since it was small and I was bringing in others to have things altered they could have slipped in a deal somewhere. Anyways, the only other advice I would give is to make sure you schedule a time because it is smaller and always busy! But all in all... I was very happy with my dress and a special thanks to Kathleen for her hard work.

I was at first extremely impressed by the staff and quality of dresses at Katherine's Bridal. I did find a perfect dress, which was a bit on the expensive side, but I did love it, and am happy I bought the dress at this boutique. I was not happy with the alterations process. I was told there was a flat fee for alterations, and ended up spending close to 3 times as much on alterations. I was not happy with the lack of professionalism on the part of the saleswomen and the seamstress. I quite honestly wish I had found a different seamstress and taken the dress home upon purchase. I was also perturbed that the saleswomen did not assist me with the alterations process as she should have. When I received the dress, the hem was completely wrong (it wasn't straight and ended up at an angle), and I was almost charged to have this fixed - clearly a factory and store issue, not something extra that I requested. I would be very cautious during the first fitting and would bring someone with you who has been through the wedding dress purchase before and who has a careful eye for imperfections and tailoring. The dresses at this store are beautiful and are quality, but beware of the alterations process and extra fees tacked onto your purchase.

My dress was absolutely gorgeous. Everyone raves about how beautiful and unique it was. And everyone thinks it cost more than it really did! Katherine herself is very pleasant to work with. At first I had a salesperson who was rude, unpleasant, and pushy. Every dress I wore, she told me I should buy it right away! It was annoying. So the second time I asked for a different salesperson. She (Azam) was great and very helpful. The alterations went well and the dress fit perfectly, but the bustle didn't work as the string that would be tied to make the bustle tore out the first time we tried to tie it at the wedding! It wasn't a big deal as my train wasn't too long but nevertheless, I wasn't too happy about it. I suggest inspecting the bustle and all its strings prior to the wedding.

I purchased my WTOO dress from Katherine's. I had done alot of research online and had checked out Hitched and Hannelore's. Katherine's had the dress I was looking for. The staff was so friendly and helpful. I love the intimate setting for trying on dresses. They made you feel very comfortable. Great alterations and tailoring.

Great selection of dresses and warm, friendly, not-pushy atmosphere. The wedding consultants really know their business and go out of their way to help you out. We bought for the entire bridal party there and were very pleased with everything. You get the feeling of being in a small town store in the heart of Washington DC which is a nice thing for the frazzled bride.

When I first began searching for my gown, my mom had called Katherine's in seach of one specific gown I wanted to try on. Although Katherine's did not have this gown, my mom was very impressed with how pleasant they were to speak with on the phone. She told me that if I wound up not liking the gown I was in seach of, that I should definitely come to Katherine's because of how helpful they were. Well, I did just that! After I realized that falling in love with internet pictures wasn't working out, I went into Katherine's with a very open mind and was so impressed with their service. Kathy worked with me and we picked out about 10 gowns. The 11th gown I found in the back corner of the shop right before we were about to head into the fitting room. It was the first one I tried on there, and the only one I tried on! Different from some of the bridal boutiques I visited, Katherine's is quaint and they give you one-on-one attention. Someone is always with you in the fitting room or just outside so that you're not left to handle all that dress by yourself. From the outside the shop doesn't look that great, and parking can be a pain, but they have a lovely selection of dresses. Every time I entered the shop (or even calld for that matter) they knew exactly who I was... they'd greet me by my first name, even if I was walking in without an appointment. Customer service definitely won me over at Katherine's! It was about an hour drive each time I went out there, but it was worth it every time.

I had a great experience at Katherine's. I found my bridesmaid dresses here, I thought they had a very good selection of styles and brands. My MOH and I went on a weeknight, maybe a Tuesday and there was only one other customer in the store so we got to take plenty of time. I think my MOH probably tried on about 20 dresses! But we ended up choosing a winner. We did not do alterations here but only because 2 of my bridesmaids live out of state and the other didn't need any changes. Thanks!
GUEST

The associates made the dress fittings fun. The seamstress was wonderful - she did a great job on the alterations. It's a small bridal boutique so the parking is limited. However, the parking issue was worth the personal touch.

I, like some of the reviewers here, had mixed feelings about Katherine's. My first visit, when I picked out my dress with my mom, was perfect. Kathy actually picked my Maggie Sottero dress for me, and I loved the style even though it was not what I would have chosen. However, my first fitting and all fittings thereafter were not so pleasant. First, I had originally ordered a veil but then immediately canceled it (the day after I placed the order) because it was not the length I wanted. Shana said she would credit the cost of the veil towards alterations, which I knew I would need (I'm 5'1). When the dress came in, though it was ordered petite, it was not only too long (easily fixed) but since Katherine's didn't take (and Maggie Sottero didn't require, I learned later) hollow-to-hem measurements, the bodice was too long. I could not put my arms down at my sides because the dress bodice came up so high. Because it was boned, the seamstress said she could not fix it. However, I pushed and she said she would try to cut it down. She did, although it still did not fit properly (even on my wedding day, it cut into my underarms so much I had abraded red marks at the end of the night) Also, even though I had canceled the veil order, Shana still ordered it and tried to get me to pay for it. I argued and she agreed that she had said she would credit it for alterations, which "conveniently" came out to exactly the cost of the veil (almost $400). On my last fitting, the seamstress added a tuck in the front of the dress to try to alleviate the gap that the too-long bodice created. When I came to pick up the dress, I asked to try it on before leaving the store with it (I had read that this was a good idea, just in case). Shana said no, it was already packed and it would be too hard to repack it. I argued and Katherine, the owner, said I should try it on. It's a good thing I did: The tuck was not placed correctly and had to be redone on the spot. Overall, my problems laid mostly with Shana -- she was pushy, unaccommodating, almost rude, and did not seem to care about whether the dress looked good or not. She was also extremely rude to the seamstress, who actually did the best of all of them to help me. I would not recommend Katherine's, despite the fact that the saleslady Kathy is an absolute sweetheart. She should work somewhere else, where customers are valued and treated properly without being cheated, lied to, or pushed aside.

I was very hesitant to go to Katherine's Bridal because they do not have the best reviews on other sites (like Yelp or Yahoo). However, they were the only boutique around that carried the dress I had found online. I have mixed reviews about my experience overall. When I tried on dresses I went by myself and the woman working with me would put me in a dress and then yack on her cell phone while I stood there looking in the mirror. I did end up buying a dress that day (I fell in love with it) but after that is when the other problems started. First they wanted to order a size 6 for me and I insisted on a size 8 because I'm hip-y (good thing too because it literally fit my hips like a glove). So beware of their measurements. Then the seamstress and I also had some major communication problems. I would tell her what I wanted but when I came back for another fitting it wasn't done. The dress never did quite turn out the way I wanted it (it was supposed to be more of an A-line but ended up sort of trumpet style-ish). I think my suggestion would be to buy the dress here and then take it elsewhere for alterations.I would also suggest avoiding it on Saturdays. Its a teeny tiny store with a teeny tiny parking lot and it is so packed on the weekends that its literally valet parking in the lot (without the valet). Even though I had an appointment with my family one Saturday I had to stand around and wait for 20 minutes (and my brother-in-law had to run out to the parking lot three times to move my car so others could get out).Lastly, I ordered a fingertip veil which ended up coming in cathedral length (they blamed the company for the mix up but did alter it without charge). However, the dress ended up looking beautiful and I received TONS of compliments on it. Even though I wasn't totally happy with the fit the day of it ended up looking great in the pictures. Also, the staff is incredibly nice even if they do rush you sometimes (again with the crazy Saturdays).Bottom line: don't get the dress altered there and avoid it on Saturday afternoons!

I actually bought my dress at "I Do, I Do" but worked with Katherine's to order the bridemaids dresses and for my alterations. While Katherine's was helpful in helping me select the flower girl dress, I can not say that the quality of services was excellent. Rather, it was good. Why? While at the end of the day all of the dresses arrived and the grisl were able to have them altered, prior to this happy ending, one of the orders was lost. One of the orders that was placed on time was not shipped to a bridesmaid until two weeks before the wedding. The matron of honor's dress was seriously small and she had to spend a fortune having it altered at the last minute. My alterations, while superbly done, were exorbitantly priced.

I was trilled with my wedding dress from Katherine's Bridal. It's a small place but they have a good selection of dresses and their staff is very helpful. Serki was truly amazing to work with. She offered helpful suggestions regarding customizing my dress to flatter my figure and style. With her help, I ended up with a stunning, beautiful dress at a great price.

I originally found my wedding dress at a store in Leesburg, VA. Since I live closer to DC, I wanted to find it at a closer store. I found it at Katherine's where it was almost 300 bucks more.. However, they matched the price of the Leesburg store and I got my dress at the lower price! I'm short and the hem and train of the entire dress is covered in lace so they recommended I get a hollow to hem. When the dress came in, it was way too long b/c they ordered the dress in the incorrect length.. The salespeople (some of which are VERY pushy) tried to tell me it was ordered in the right size and said I should just add crenolin to make it poofier and make up for the length (the crenolin and the bustle costing $300). I didn't want a poofy dress so after proving to Katherine with my receipt(the owner) that the dress was ordered in the wrong length, she refunded me the extra money that I paid for the hollow to hem. I then took that money and took it to Judith's Alterations.. and they were able to alter the entire thing (move all of the lace) for $150.... I got the dress I wanted (not all poofy) for less than what the alterations at Katherine's was going to charge me to add crenolin... I was bummed about the mixup with the hollow to hem order b/c otherwise the dress fit PERFECTLY... Katherine (the owner) was great to refund the money and Katherine (the salesperson) was great! However, some of their alterations ppl and other salespeople are VERY pushy..

I adore this store! This store provided me with everything a bride could ask for. They are putting girls in dresses all day long but somehow manage to make you feel special and like you are the only bride in the room. I had to go in there probably ten times for one reason or another (4 of them were for alterations. I am three different sizes thru my chest, waist, and hips so it took a few times to make it perfect.) and everytime I was there they were so friendly. They really took care of me. They are not cheap but by no means are expensive. They have plenty of options for you to look at especially if you are a Maggie Sottero fan.

I bought my dress and veil at Katherine's and was happy for the most part. Only thing was that my dress had lace and one spot was a slightly different color. They told me it was just normal variation. In the end I decided it wasn't worth the fuss, but I thought they should have been slightly more accomodating. Actually looking for the dress, buying it etc was very smooth and everyone was very helpful. I thought the cost of the veil was excessive and I talked them down $100, but it still seemed expensive. However, it matched my dress so perfectly I ended up buying it anyway. I did not use them for alterations. Overall, they were friendly and had a nice selection of dresses.

I literally walked in and the woman that helped me pulled out my wedding dress. I was very impressed. The only thing I did not like was I felt like I didn't have a lot of time to get things done. I wish I could've tried on more dresses to just make sure that the one was the one. I did like that it was a smaller place because it felt like I was the only one there.

Katherine is amazing!!! We ordered our bridesmaid, junior bridesmaid, and flower girl dresses from her shop. She sat with us and talked about colors, styles, and designers while were trying to figure out what dresses we wanted to order. My bridesmaids enjoyed working with the shop - many even had their alterations done with her seamstresses! The dresses were beautiful. The only potential issue was that we had one staff member who was not particularly pleasant - HOWEVER, Katherine was very responsive to our concern when we raised it with her, and the staff member changed here attitude almost immediately. Katherine knows her brides and is extremely responsive and flexible!!

I adored working with Katherine's Bridal! They were the last of about 6 bridal shops I visited and it was like a breath of fresh air. They knew instantly what dress to put me in - and after trying on 100's of dresses, it was THE ONE that took my breath away and made me cry. They were so accomodating during the alterations period and their staff are just fun people. Prices were very reasonable, too - after being told at another store that "they don't carry dresses in my price range" it was wonderful to see the selection they had for what I wanted to spend ($1200 for the dress; another $350 in alterations).

I found a beautiful Amy Kuschel silk mikado dress at Katherines. I wanted something simple and they found the perfect dress for me at a great price. I had 4 fittings instead of 3 because I continued to lose weight and they had to continue to take in the dress. I guess it was the wedding stress diet. :) Service was great. I like the small shop and the special attention. They even sewed in my grandmother's platinum and pearl pendant into my zipper pull and it was perfect. We customized the dress a bit making a small sweep train too. Great service, great selection, dependable..love Katherines.

Katherine, Carmen and the rest of the staff at Katherine's Bridal were a pleasure to work with. They are very patient, sweet and determined. I did not have one single delay or problem while I worked with them. Everything was delivered on time or sometimes even earlier. It was truly a wonderful experience.

HIGHLY recommend if you are looking for quality dresses and service! My mom is from NJ and used to be a buyer for a dept. store and we went to several dress shops in the area and she felt like they really didn't know what we were after and were not very knowledgeable. When I first went into Katherine's, I was greeted by everyone and I was helped by Kathy (as I had made an appt. with her via recommendations from both The Knot and Wedding Wire). She asked me what I envisioned and my price range was listed on the card I had filled out. I only told her a few things and she picked out about 10 dresses that were all in my range and all beautiful, however it was only 1 that won me over in the end. It was a new Maggie Sottero Paigeley and it was 100% me. Fit me perfectly that I didn't need any alterations except to have it shortened, bustled and I had little cap sleeves added from the additional lace on my dress, as I did not want strapless. The cap sleeves were created by their wonderful in-house seamstress, Anna. I only told her what I wanted and she designed them so that it looked like the dress came that way! Absolutely perfect.Only downside of this shop is the location! The parking lot is very tiny and because they spend so much time with all of their clients, the parking situation can get interesting. However, we just ended up parking across the street, no biggie. The first time I went was on an early Saturday morning and luckily the weather was bad so it wasn't busy! Great for me and my mom! I would recommend going during their daytime hours or in the evenings. One thing that my mom and I appreciated about Kathy is she did not tell you that you look "beautiful" in every dress you try on. She was able to take my vision and body type to find the perfect dress. She is extremely personable! I just loved her!

Katherine's was a great shop, although I recommend going on a weekday to get more attention. We went on a Friday, and they spent hours helping us find the perfect dress! Their suggestions to make minor changes really helped our selection, and it was no contest when it came time to purchase the dress! For being a small shop, there were lots of options at different budget levels.

Katharine completely but gently redesigned the vision I had for my wedding dress, veil, and accessories. She has the very rare combination of experience, intuition, and talent. On top of which, Kathy and her other staff are pleasant professionals who will always make you feel special and welcome. After wasting time at Hannelore's, I was and remain grateful to find Katharine's Bridal!

Katherine's was the second bridal boutique that I had visited, and unlike the first store that I went to this one had qualified people who helped me to find the perfect dress. In fact, the dress was the very first one I tried on here! I had to do a rush order because my wedding date was soon, but it came in plenty of time and the alterations didn't take long. Definitely check this store out for your wedding dress!

When I walked in I wanted to walk back out immediately, but I'm so glad I didn't. The decor and staff are just odd, parking is annoying, and it doesn't feel like an elegant place, but if you know what you're looking for and are willing to hunt through the dresses, you can find a real gem. I did, and was able to buy it off the rack (for a good discount), AND picked my bridesmaid dresses in the same go. Katherine herself is very nice. So don't be put off when you walk in, but also, got to other shops and figure out what you're looking for before you bother going to Katherine's.

Good selection in a variety of price ranges. Had some mishaps with the staff. They were nice, but their English was not good, which meant it often took some explaining and patience. When I showed up for one of my fittings, I discovered the work had not yet been done. But they were also able to help me order a lace-covered dress without the lace on it. Katherine is very knowledgable and helpful.

Katherine's is a hidden gem. Located off a main road and sandwiched between two buildings, this boutique is Alexandria's best kept secret!! I was treated with genuine excitement from the first day I walked through their doors. I was looking for an Alvina Valenta and was floored by their large selection. Spending time in Katherine's was one of the more enjoyable tasks of wedding planning. I worked with wonderful women who gave me all the time I needed and made me feel comfortable and special. One of the best parts of my experience was meeting and talking with the lovely woman who altered my gown. She is a true talent and passionate about making a woman's dress fit her perfectly...and she made me look and feel wonderful!Their excitement and interest in my plans and vision were sincere and I feel truly blessed that I met the women of Katherine's. They ensured that my dress fit well and my choice was the most flattering that I could make. I was very well taken care of at this lovely little gem!

I had what I feel was two distinct experiences at Katherine's; (1) The Purchase and Receipts of the dress, and (2) The Dress Alterations. My first experience with buying and receiving the dress was exceptional. The women at the boutique are very helpful, intuitive, and easy to work with. I found "the" dress upon my second visit to Katherine's; however, it took me 3 more visits after to try on the same dress to finally say it was it. The dress was beautiful and exactly what I wanted, I just needed to make sure! The dress was a Katherine's original design and the lace work on the dress anywhere else, I believe, would have cost me a fortune but instead I stuck within my budget and got my dream dress. The dress arrived on time, I was appropriately informed, and was super excited. My second experience with the dress fitting and subsequent alterations was a little less fabulous. Where Katherine's told me I only needed 3 weeks prior to the wedding to get the fitting in and I listened, that cut it close; and, instead of the standard 2 fittings that Katherine's said was necessary, it took 5. Each time I went back I would get discouraged because an items that was supposed to be fixed and completed the first time would have either gone unfixed or would be wrong. The women working at the store were still helpful; however, I felt that their attention to the situation and not me would have been more fruitful. I finally received the dress (after an alteration on the actual day I was picking up the dress) and it was flawless and fit beautifully; however, the process to get there was not exactly what I would have expected based on the expectations set by the shop. That being said, compared to the other shops in the surrounding location, they were more attentive and significantly more professional than all the other boutiques I visited.

The buying process could not have been better. My sales lady was very professional and wasn't pushy and didn't pressure me. I found the perfect dress (of course), which was one from their private collection. I found the price to be very reasonable compared to other gowns I had liked at other boutiques. The dress arrived a few weeks late and alterations were being made very close to the wedding date. There was some communication issue when I thought I was going in to pick up my dress, but was actually there for an additional fitting. My dress was picked up 2 days before the ceremony. Was very happy with overall service and selection.

I was looking for a very specific Maggie Sottero gown and called around to the few boutique's in the area that carry them. When I called Katherine's Bridal, I spoke with Kathy (not to be confused with Katherine) who was very sweet and helped me find my dress (which was not the one that I originally thought I wanted). The only reason I decided to go with a Maggie was because the Demetrios dress I wanted was a lace dress that had to be special order and I needed 18 weeks to have made to my height and I found it with exactly 18 weeks to go and wanted to think about it some more. I regret not going with it now. After I purchased my dress from Katherine's I felt good about it, but when I went back for my first fitting and to try the dress, I was helped by different people and most were very rude. They could not find my veil or head piece and never ordered my petti coat (which I was charged for) until the day before the wedding, it was just very stressful. I was also not happy with my alterations. They were over priced and since they did them without a petti coat, they were not where they should be. I was displeased and do not recommend them to anyone unless they have no other vendor in the area that carries their dress. Even then, I recommend taking your dress elsewhere for alterations.

I found a lovely dress at a decent price. The unique thing was that I was able to make custom changes to the dress when I ordered it. That made the difference for me. I really had a dress that was all my own and not off the rack at some huge retailer. The shop is small, but that is only a negative on Saturday mornings. The benefit of it being small is that you get personalized attention. Once I decided to buy from Katherine's it was just nice not to have worry about anything. The dress arrived on time, the alterations were done in time, the location was convenient for me, and the most important part....the final result was stunning. I received compliment after compliment all through the event. I wish I could wear it again.

Everyone that worked there was extremely friendly & helpful. There was a in staff alterations person as well that worked miracles on my dress. The dresses were expensive though, but I was happy with what I purchased. The owner was not as friendly as the rest of the staff.

Katherine's Bridal Boutique had the perfect balance of selection, personal attention, and customer service. I visited many other shops in the area and found that Katherine's was the only one to meet all my needs.

Katherine's was wonderful! I found the perfect dress in no time and they were so very nice and accomodating always! It was a true pleasure to work with them.

After being treated so poorly at Lady Hamilton in Arlington (a bunch of snobs!), I found the wonderful Katherine's. They were kind and fun and helped me find "the" dress. It arrived on time and was altered to perfection. I highly recommend Katherine's.

Katherine's is wonderful! My sister and I both purchased our wedding dresses there. Katherine (the owner) has over 20 years of experience, and most of her staff has at least 10 years of experience. I highly recommend trying to work with Surki. She has the ability to listen to what style you like, give you a once over, and then she says to you "I have the dress for you." For both my sister and I, she found our dress on the first try. What a relief for me after trying on nearly 50 dresses in 4 shops before going to Katherine's. Katherine has wonderful relationships with all of the designers she carries and is able to customize many of the dresses she carries for that reason. Most importantly, they are incredibly friendly and professional and so dedicated to helping their clients! When my dress arrived without the special order we had put in, they had to send it back to the designer to be fixed. Katherine and Surki were on the phone every day with the designer pressing them to hurry my dress as I needed it for my bridal portrait session. When the dress came in, they had their seamstresses working overtime to do three fittings in a week for my bridal portraits. After, they did an additional fitting to make everything perfect for my big day. I can not thank them enough for all of they hard work!

I GOT A BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS DRESS SO AFFORDABLE! NO ONE COULD BELIEVE IT! HEH HEH! AND THE BRIDESMAID DRESSES WERE AVAILABLE ALSO!

Katherine was a pleasure to work with in choosing my wedding dress, bridesmaids dresses, and Mother of the Bride's dress. She and her staff are very professional, and skilled especially with regards to choosing the correct sizes requiring minimal alterations. I went back and forth for several different fittings, and each time the seamstresses took the time to alter my dress perfectly. They did a beautiful job!

Katherine's has a wonderful selection of dresses, many of them a bit different then you see in the average bridal shop, ranging in price from about $1000 - $5000. Katherine, the proprieter is calm, friendly and warm (everything you want when picking out a gown) and her staff is equally helpful. This is a smaller boutique where you get lots of personal attention in a warm and friendly aptmosphere. She also has a nice selection of bridesmaid dresses.

They were very friendly and very patient with me! They provided really good feedback and were very patient with me when I came in for my alterations.

Katherine’s shop is terrific, great selection and prices cannot be beat. They were very helpful to me. I thought that finding my dress was going to be the hardest part the wedding, but they made it an enjoyable part. Go there and you will love what you see. The staff there is willing to work with you on whatever you need to find.

I felt like a princess at every fitting. They helped me find the perfect dress, fit it and then preserve it. Great service!!
