Kathleen (of Kathy's Kreative Kakes) makes a delicious cake. And with crazy design ideas, she is the Queen! I went in with an idea of what I wanted, (three teired cake with dual color DNA strand plus a raised top tier with our monogram and a yellow gold/white gold set of rings standing up on the top.) again, picture would be nice to add.I couldn't find the center piece that I wanted anywhere. I told Kathleen and she said she would find a way to make it work. She told me that she worked with Tap Plastics, and would be able to find something. I said OK. sounded goood to me, she was easy to trust.The cake was perfect!! It was not until a week later that I realized the styrophome rings at the top were actually not plastic, but edible fondant! lol. Way to go Kathy! I am so glad I trusted her! her creativity knows no bounds. hehehe ask her about the biggest cake her predicessor Kathy made. haha, amazing story!Anyway, five stars across the board, Kathy's Kreative Kakes is well worth a visit!

We got married at the San Mateo Marriott and were refered to two places for wedding cakes. The first one was Copenhagen Bakery on Burlingame Avenue. The second was Kathy's Kreative Kakes in San Mateo. Copenhagen's cake was dry and when we went to speak to someone regarding what they can do, we were shoved a bunch of books and were told to look through and find what we liked. The lady that was "helping" us was also working the register and seemed to have a lot on her plate and no time for us. SO we sampled the cakes and left.When we went to Kathy's Kreative Kakes, we met with Kathleen (not Kathy the owner, but Kathleen) She was VERY attentive and went through ALL our options and asked us what we had invisioned as well as suggested some that she had based off our ideas. We made a second appointment and sketched out a rough draft of what we wanted the cake to look like. It was just what we envisioned. The cake was so moist, we were impressed with the quality. We just got the feeling that we were going to be well taken care of....and WE WERE!!!! Our cake was beautiful and delicious.

We'll most likely be getting our cake from Kathy's right here in San Mateo. Many of our vendors are in San Mateo as it is close proximity to where we both work. The one thing I have learned from all this is to never jump to a quick decision. Even if you think you absolutely love a vendor, always do your research and check others just to make sure.

Kathy has great looking and tasting cakes. Her record is impeccable and she has been there for about 30 years!
