Kendall's Cakes

We used Kendall's Cakes for our DC wedding on March 31st. She put together an OUTSTANDING wedding cake and a groom's cake that really wowed all of our guests. Kendall is so sweet and friendly, and really listens to what the couple wants. After we told her what we liked, she came up with an amazing idea for our wedding cake that we never would have thought of. It was even more beautiful that we imagined! She also took 3 scotch bottles and made them into an incredible groom's cake. It was seriously the talk of the night! Not to mention the cakes are absolutely delicious, and she even gives clients a gift certificate for a free cake on their 1st anniversary. I would highly recommend anyone getting married in the DC/VA/MD area to use Kendall for their cakes!

Kendall is amazing, sweet, and accommodating! After going to an initial cake tasting with my mom, I wanted to go back with my husband and Kendall was so sweet about it. I even went back to try one more flavor before deciding and Kendall had no problem with that. The cake was beautiful and delicious. My husband and I really didn't get to eat any cake besides what we fed each other when we cut the cake, but we can't wait to eat the leftovers! Kendall even made mini-pies for my husband because he doesn't love cake, and they were DELICIOUS! Kendall is the best!

Kendall was a pleasure to work with! The tasting went very smoothly. She had great suggestions as to how to make the cake work for our number of guests and under the weather conditions of our wedding day. My now-husband and I are not normally fans of fondant, but because Kendall uses ingredients of high quality, we actually found her fondant tasty (and practical for our summer wedding).

We gave her a photo of the cake design we wanted, and she reproduced it with utmost accuracy. It was so pretty and delicate that we didn't want to cut and eat it. We also received many compliments from guests about the taste of the cake (ours was white/vanilla cake layered with raspberry mousse and covered in buttercream frosting covered with white fondant). It was certainly one of the more unique cakes they've ever eaten at a wedding.

We highly recommend her to others looking to purchase special occasion cakes that are both visually pleasing and full of flavor!

Kendall is lovely and so flexible, and her cakes are so yummy, so not to mention skilled. We had our party at the Hay Adams which uses her by default unless you choose someone else. She was so accommodating, ended up making a small-ish cake for us to cut, and 4 others of different flavors to put out on our dessert buffet along with tons of beautiful mini things made by the hotel's pastry chef. We didn't want a huge over the top wedding cake but what she made was perfect--two tiers, beautiful flowers, simple, and soooo good: coconut and passionfruit. The other flavors were great--try something different, people will love. Early gray, tupelo honey, amazing.

Kendall’s Cake was one of the fun experiences of the wedding planning process. Kendall Barrett seems to be a fun-loving person who is very talented in making beautiful yummy cakes. Our wedding planner recommended her. My daughter, her fiancé, my husband, and I went to her for a cake tasting. It was just plain fun. We tried around five different flavors and settled on a tupelo honey cake with black berries to go in between cake layers because it was unique, tasty, and truly American (we had lots of wedding guests from out of the country).

My daughter decided on a quite simple designed white frosting cake that would compliment her dress and the wedding flowers—blue hydrangeas. Kendall’s repertoire of cakes she has designed and carried out is absolutely amazing. Obviously, Kendall is very talented at cake design.

She worked well with our florist and she made a little vegan cake for our one daughter who is vegan. We look forward to working with Kendall in the future whether be for a wedding another very special event.

To have a wedding cake that is not only beautiful but tastes out of this world...what a way to end a perfect evening! Kendall was an absolute delight to work with--we lucked out that our reception venue (the Hay-Adams) has contracted with her for cakes. I am sure others have used this pun, but Kendall is as sweet as the cakes themselves! She was so awesome that we wanted to go home with her. She created a delicious, moist white cake with passion fruit mousse filling--SO good--our guests were thrilled. The cake was also perfect on the outside...it incorporated my husband's desire for something streamlined and modern (a stack of small squares in plain white fondant) with mine for something a little more romantic (beading on the edges, ideal flowers on the top). I only wish I had more use for wedding cakes as I'd love to work with Kendall a million times over (and to enjoy the cakes a million times over too!)

The cake was beautiful. Kendall copied the beading pattern of my gown on the tiers of the cake. There were three different flavors of cake and all of them were delicious!

My wedding cake and cupcakes were absolutely gorgeous and DELICIOUS!!!!! Her buttercream icing is to die for! I couldn't be happier that I chose Kendall's Cakes. Everything was perfect and even better than what I imagined it would be. Everyone raved about the cake and cupcakes at how beautiful they were and better yet, how delicious they were.

Just to show you how amazing and delicious her cakes are my then finance (now husband) literally cleaned the plate (I was quite embarrassed but it shows you that ALL of her flavored cakes were to die for). Kendall had a variety of cakes to taste and it was truly hard to narrow it down.

We had visited 4 cake masters in the past month and was really disappointed with the results. We traveled to DC, MD and around VA. Kendall was last on our list and what a shame because I wished we had visited her first and canceled all the other appointments.

All the guests LOVED her cake. It was pretty, modern and above all else delicious. We've all had (or usually passed) on the wedding cakes, because it's most of the time dry and bland. But inform all your guests to have a piece or two because it will be the best wedding cake you would ever had. I actually informed my guests to save room for the cake, and they thanked me that night :)

Kendall is the best!!! Her cakes are the AMAZING! Not only are the delicious but they are BEAUTIFUL and CREATIVE. My husband and I met in the arctic so we wanted an "ARCTIC THEMED" wedding cake that wasn't tacky. Kendall was able to accommodate this request and made us an iceberg cake with two polar bears on top. The cake was so lovely, and we got tons of compliments on it! Kendall definitely gave us a wedding cake that we will always remember!!!

Our cakes were amazing, or so I heard. Sadly I only ate the bite when my husband and I cut the cake because we were on the dance floor the whole time! I am looking forward to breaking out our anniversary tier soon to really try it, but from the tasting everything was delicious. I will say though that our cake was beautiful, had three very different flavors and that everyone raved about it. Kendall also helped me surprise my man with a grooms cake at the rehearsal dinner and although it was a very unusual request (a confetti cake in a pyramid shape decorated entirely with rainbow sprinkles) it made everyone laugh and was actually really yummy! I had some of that on the morning of my wedding for breakfast!

All I can say is YUM! Okay...I can say more than that. Our wedding cake was amazing. We chose to have two flavors: chocolate with raspberry and chocolate truffle. We had a three layer cake that Kendall decorated to match our theme...it had beautiful green leaves with gold accent, and she used the miniature sunflowers that our florist gave us. The cake was gorgeous. Kendall met with us a few months before the wedding for a tasting and interview about what we wanted. I could tell she was excited about making the cake, and that made us happy. She delivered the cake on time, and everything was perfect. Call her early if you want a Kendall cake...she only does a couple of cakes a month!

Kendall is great! I showed her a photo of what I wanted my cake to look like and she recreated it perfectly! She was so excited to do a chocolate cake - not only did it look great, it was delicious too. For a chocoholic like me, Kendall's Chocolate Truffle Cake was the only way to go!

We were disappointed that after booking our location at one hotel the pastry chef left. Kendall's Cakes was recommended to us by the chef, and wow, we were totally thrilled with our cake. We had a 'cherry blossom' themed wedding and wanted something simple and elegant to fit with that theme. Not only was our cake spectacularly elegant, everyone said it was the best tasting wedding cake they ever had. The only downside was that some guests were wanting three servings! They did listen to us and created the perfect cake for our wedding. And, the almond white chocolate is to die for! Also they have a way of creating a buttercream frosting that looks very polished - the best of both worlds. You can't go wrong here. And the tasting, what a treat that is!

Kendall provided a wedding cake, a grooms cake and our 1st anniversary cake. All of them were not only the best cakes i ever had, but the grooms cake meant to look like Wrigley Field was AMAZING. Not only do i recommend her, but i plan on using her for all my major events.

Kendall is a wedding cake goddess. Not only are her cakes lovely -- she has an artist's touch and replicated the lace on my dress perfectly -- but they are delicious too. I've been to a lot of weddings and usually the cake 1.) falls over or 2.) tastes like cardboard. This cake, key lime with fondant, was amazing and held its shape beautifully. It was moist and sweet...but not too sweet...and melted like butter on the tongue. It was divine. And Kendall herself is a delight to work with...as sweet as her cakes and so charming.

I could not be happier with Kendall's Cakes! The wedding cake was beautiful, plentiful, and the most delicious wedding cake I have ever tasted. My guests felt the same, they loved it and were even looking around for people not eating theirs so they could get a second taste :) We had plenty of cake leftover, and she made a separate anniversary tier for us so it would be easier to store. Kendall provided samples, ideas, and worked with me on the design. She also provided a delicious groom's cake for the rehearsal dinner. Working with Kendall was such a joy, and I highly recommend her services!

We did our wedding reception at The Hay-Adams and they exclusively use Kendall for their wedding cakes. We love Kendall and enjoyed working with her on designing our cake! She is so sweet and it's obvious she loves what she does and is very talented! Our only complaint was she did not design the wedding cake to 100% of what we had discussed (a few details were off, but no one knew except us), but it still looked absolutely beautiful and was delicious! We also used her to make our grooms cake for the rehearsal dinner. We requested a bulldog cake and it was the hit of the night. She beyond exceeded our expectations with the design of the cake and was very upfront with us about the flavor we choose for the cake because she knew that it might not work well with the particular design and recommended us pick a different flavor, she even made us additional tastings to make sure we got what we wanted. She did a FANTASTIC job and our guests loved it and raved about the cake all weekend! We loved working with Kendall and highly recommend her and will definitely use her for any future cake needs.

Kandall makes THE BEST WEDDING CAKES. Our fantastic wedding planner/flowers (Elegance and Simplicity) hooked us up with Kendall's Cakes. We did a number of cake tastings and the cakes were "ok". When we tried Kendall's, each sample literally got better and better. Everyone at the wedding loved the cake for more than just its beautiful design. Our friends and family were amazed that a beautiful wedding cake could actually taste great as well. We highly recommend Kendall's Cakes.

Kendall was great. She really worked with me to make the cake look like my wedding dress. I got so many compliments on the look AND the taste of the cake. You could smell the yummy cake as we entered the reception at the Hay-Adams. She was great!

Delicious and unique/beautiful cake.

First, her cake and icing flavors are AMAZING! What really convinced me to use her services was my bite of her Passion fruit flavored cake. I loved how I could tell that it was Passion Fruit even with my eyes closed. Sometimes flavoring can be so plain and it's anybody's guess what it is.

I loved her presentation during the tasting and of course reception. She definitely went above and beyond to make my day when it came to the cake. I didn't want a cake topper. With the help of extra flowers donated from the Florist and Kendall's superb sugar pearls and ribbon decorated cake stand the cake looked amazing.

The only criticism I have is communication was a little weak. To be fair she essentially is the sole employee. Definitely could use an assistant.

Despite that, I would most definitely recommend her to my friends, families and strangers. Great price and quality. Plus, she really is the sweetest. :-)

The wedding cake tasted great. I wasn't happy with the design of the cake.
