We had a wonderful experience on our trip to South Africa and Zambia through Kensington Tours. We did the Cape Town, Kruger and Victoria Falls tour. I was able to arrange the whole trip over email, which was convenient; however, the consultants are available by phone as well. I did have one conversation with a consultant at the start of planning just to get more information about the company and such. Originally, we had planned to do one of the Kenya tours but had to adjust our trip for personal reasons. The travel consultants were very responsive and flexible.
Once on the tour, everything went flawlessly. The accommodations were top notch, the drivers were timely and helpful, and the tour guides were interesting and informative. The food was excellent, especially at Arathusa for the Safari portion. We stayed at a nice B&B in Cape Town, Arathusa for Safari (highly recommended for food, lodging, and animal sightings), and the Royal Livingstone in Zambia. The Royal Livingston was very fancy. We might try the Zambezi Sun if we return to Livingstone again since it seemed like a more laid back atmosphere; however, we didn’t see what the rooms there looked like so can’t comment on that aspect.
Kensington Tours subcontracts the tours and driving to local companies and they seem to do a very good job screening them. We only had one driver that was a bit unprofessional, but that was only 1 driver out of several. Also, it would have been nice to know that the hotel we stayed at in Zambia had a dress code for dinner at the restaurant. It wasn’t a big deal though since there was a neighboring hotel that had a good restaurant and there was a van that traveled between them.
Overall, we highly recommend the Cape Town, Kruger and Victoria Falls tour by Kensington Tours and we will certainly consider them for other tours in the future.
