We had originally chosen Masicatto's out of Hartford to do our cake and had such a terrible experience with them that we were overjoyed when our ceremony and reception vendor suggested Kim's! She listened to all of our ideas an wants and helped us to create the cake of our dreams!!!! It was so beautiful and it tasted even better than it looked!!! We could not have asked for a better cake vendor!! Kim was very helpful and open about her ideas and the things she could actually complete. She did not try to push us into any design or flavor we did not want, she made us feel special and that it was all about us! It was nice to work with someone who actually cared about what we wanted not just someone trying to make a profit!!

This small, woman owned business is going to go far.

Our wedding cake from Kim's was DELICIOUS! They were so easy to work with and helped us a lot with the design (even allowing us to change the design a month before the wedding!). Our cake was absolutely beautiful, and we received many compliments from guests that it was so good!

Our cake was positively PERFECT! We had chosen a cake before anything else and then at the last minute (the day before) Kim met with our florist and realized the cake we chose would not go with everything else. She took the time to call me on my cell and find out what we wanted to do. We left it up to their discretion and the cake came out so beautiful, people are still raving about it! Thank you!

Our cake was beautiful & delicious!!! Kim listened to exactly what we wanted & delivered something better than we ever could have imagined. The tasting was lots of fun, too! Coming from a big Italian family we had to have cookies too & they were also delicious.

Kim made a cake that was exactly what I envisioned. I brought her pictures and idea's and she made it just the way I wanted. It tasted very good and my guests wanted more! I also used Kim's services for a cake before my wedding for a surprise birthday party I hosted. She also made the cake according to my idea's and it was wonderful.

I did not interact with the owner but I did have a sit down meeting with one of her staff who went over all our information with my husband and I and they did a great job tailoring the cake exactly how we wanted it. I was surprised at how many choices I had in terms of shape of the cake, design and embellishments. Kim had a ton of pictures and sample cakes, making it very easy to decide on what we wanted. We ended up going with a fairly simple cake but we did a different shape for the base and put a "T" monogram on it. Our florist added some flowers and it looked great at the wedding. The flavors were delicious and there were also a lot of options on that as well. She did a complimentary grooms cake which turned out great. You can't beat their price and the quality you get is quite good. I would highly recommend Kim.

Kim was amazing, the cake was so delicious, not at all your typical bland wedding cake, and the final product was beautiful, exactly as I imagined and tried to describe. She even made cupcakes for the kids because it was our ring bearers 2nd birthday on our wedding day. She was wonderful to work with and does a fantastic job!

We actually went with cupcakes instead of a traditional wedding cake and Kim's Cottage Confections really did a fantastic job. I gave Kim pictures of exactly what I wanted and that is what I got. When we went to talk with her we got 7 cupcake samples to try. Who doesn't love free dessert? It was so hard to choose beacause all the flavors were so good.

My husband and I went there 1 1/2 years before our wedding. We made the decisions on the cake and she made it perfectly. It looked absolutly amazing and was everything I imagined it to be and more. It was perfect. Kim was so nice and came up with a ton of ideas for the different thoughts that we had.

Our cake turned out just as we wanted, if not better. Several guests told us how delicious the cake was (and we agree too)! Thanks for a great cake!

My wedding was held at the Society Room of Hartford, so I opted to have Kim's Cottage Confections provide my cake through the package option. I am so pleased that I chose Kim's!

The cake was just what I wanted--elegant and simple, and so fresh! My husband and I had a 4-layer cake with alternating layers of espresso cake with espresso mousse and apple spice cake with vanilla mousse, and it was so delicious!

My only small complaint--and it's minor! We saved the top of the cake to observe the tradition of eating it on our first anniversary, but due to the massive power outage at the beginning of November, we ended eating it on our 1-month anniversary so we wouldn't have to throw it out. At the tasting, I had requested that the top layer of the cake be the espresso with espresso mousse, since it was my favorite. When we cut the top to eat it, we discovered that it was the apple spice cake instead, but both varieties were so tasty it doesn't really matter :-) It just gives me an excuse to order another cake from them for a birthday or anniversary!

I loved Kim's Cottage Confections. I went through my venue to get them (Pavilion on Crystal Lake), so I was really wary at first. I thought they wouldn't be that good of quality, since it was through the venue. I could not have been more wrong! I went by myself for the tasting (husband did not care at all about the cake, and my mom was out of state), and the woman I met with was very nice and let me try samples of many different kinds of cake. She was professional and kind. The location itself was not very impressive, but the cake was good! I ordered cupcakes for my wedding. The only thing I was disappointed in was that I was supposed have "pearls" (little icing dots) around the bride's cake (which I always wanted, because I think they're beautiful), but they forgot to put them on, so the top cake looked very plain. However, the cupcakes were absolutely AMAZING. They always put a layer of something in the cake or cupcakes- a fruit layer, mousse layer, etc- and I had the fruit in my cupcakes. I thought it was amazing. My mother-in-law ended up paying for the cupcakes, and she didn't like them because they were a little small and the fruit fell to the bottom of the cupcakes. She called KCC and complained, and they offered a free cake for a birthday or any other celebration. I thought this was great. I didn't really have any complaints, but I thought it was great that they offered something to my mother-in-law who wasn't completely satisfied. They were pretty well priced, and they waited for me to turn in my final guest count to the venue, and only charged me for as many cupcakes as guests I had (my final guest count was given only about 5 days before the wedding, so this was very flexible!)

I can not say enough about Kim. I have used her for tons of events and used her for our grooms cake and cookies for our 10pm cookie and milk service. (Our wedding cake was included in the package and I should have just paid to have ours done by Kim as we were disappointed in our cake vendor)\r\nHer prices are amazingly reasonable. Grooms cake $150. 120 Giant cookies $85. She does lack in response, however I did mention this to her and she says she\'s working to change it.

Kim's Cakes are amazing! I gave her a picture of what I wanted and she added her "kim magic" and my cake was delicious and beautiful :)

Kim's Cottage Confections made the most beautiful cake for our August wedding. We used the Martha Stewart "Eyelet Fabric" cake as inspiration and designed a gorgeous 4 tier cake.
The butter cream detailing was extensive and impressive. The cake itself was delicious.

We had so an after party following the reception and the cake was eaten there too!
Kim, the owner, was a pleasure to work with. She was always available to answer questions, respond to emails and down-to-earth. Her personal touches and calm demeanor made wedding planning a "piece of cake".

SHe met with us to discuss ideas for designs and flavors, and we got to taste some of her most popular cake types and then again after we pickewe wanted. She was very professional, and everything turned out great! She does a wonderful job and has fair rates.

Our cake was DELICIOUS! Kim's made a three layer cake for us, each with a different layer, and each layer was great. Most weddings I've been to the cake is usually kind of dry and I think when you're working with that kind of size, it gets a little tricky and the taste is compromised and to be honest, I basically assumed that all cakes were that way and that ours would be to, but not so! The cake was deliciously moist and the frosting was just right.
And I of course can't forget about the design--it was gorgeous! Just as I had hoped it would be and we planned for. Very impressive!

I will say that my cake from Kim's was included in my package through my venue. I contacted Kim to do a tasting and had some trouble schedulding as I lived out of the state, but we were able to meet. Kim was very helpful with different designs to choose from and selecting the flavors. We were able to find something that worked for us and was delicious.

I rated middle of the road because I actually didn't have much interaction with the cake maker since it was included in my wedding package. The cake was delish, the little bite I got of it. It looked beautiful and was great. I do have to say I thought it was a round cake, but day of we got a square cake...I am not a picky bride so I don't really care, it still looked great! Just a warning to those who might be more concerned about their cake than me.

I would NOT recommend this bakery to anyone! For my wedding cake, after being in the venue for about 2 hours, the cake topper fell off because it wasn't placed on the cake correctly. One side of the cake was ruined.

Then a couple months later, my brother got married and decided to go here because to be honest, the actual cake flavors were good. When he cut into the cake, only one of the three layers were the correct flavors. He contacted the owner and told her what happened and all she had to say was that the flavors that were in the cake "were the ones they ordered". Did not apologize at all.

This year, I celebrated my one year anniversary. I emailed the bakery to see how much the cakes would cost and if I could order one. My anniversary is in July and I emailed her with the flavors on May 27th. Me being the OCD person that I am, called the week before I needed the cake to make sure she had received my information. When I called, she picked up the phone, acted like she never received my email, and asked for the order again. Never once did she ask me for my name, phone number, or email. She told me it had to be picked up on Friday because she was only going to be in the shop on Saturday to make an important delivery. I fortunately got out of work early so I was able to make it before their closing time of 5pm. I drove the 45 minutes to Durham to pick up the cake to find out that she did not have it made. She LIED straight to my face about when I needed to pick the cake up and said it was going to be ready for Saturday. I explained what was told to me on the phone and she said it was made but not frosted. I told her to forget the cake because I was unable to make it back to pick it up.

She not only messed up my wedding cake, my brother's wedding cake, AND my one year anniversary cake, but she lied to my face about what SHE told me on the phone. Honestly, the cake was good, but you can get the same flavors at a different bakery with better attitudes and better customer service. DO NOT USE THIS BAKERY!

Undoubtedly one of the best bakers in CT. Her cakes are classic, beautiful, and always fresh and delicious! She is a sweetheart and you will find her attentive, flexible and easy to work with. Her candies are pretty and yummy too!
