Beware, the price listed for the food menu is only good for the menu. Unlike lots of other American venues, this place does not include anything else. I find this place to be a bit pricey. Do not expect much when it comes to professionalism during your consultation. Vendor had me sit in the middle of the eating area (versus office). Vendor actually left my table to talk to another client in the middle of my consultation. I find this quite rude and unprofessional. Since vendor does profide decoration services for the ballroom, they have imposed several strict rules for hiring outside vendors to come in and decorate for you. Vendor's decor services are quite pricey, but their fees and deposits for outside vendor makes it almost impossible for you to try and outsource it.

Great venue and great food. Communication was a little difficult, but the reception turned out great.

I did not give Kim Son a high score because they were not very responsive to my wedding. On the day of the wedding, there was a playoff game going on. When I went to the back, the staff were watching football instead of prepping up to cater my wedding. The food came out an hour late. The manager didn't seem to care. Overall, it was a bad experience and I wished I could have booked a different venue. The bad service could be due to the fact that they booked 3 weddings that same night as well. I would suggest booking a venue that would only attend 1 wedding per night.

We were able to book our reception at Kim Son 4 months before the wedding. We were so lucky! Everything was great. The staff was very accommodating and attentive. The food was hot and tasty. We were pleased.

Some of my guest didn't get all the food from my menu. When they asked for it, Kim Son said they were out and sent them out a replacement meal. They should have been prepared for the amount of people we reserved.

I had my wedding at the Kim Son on Jefferson.
The reason I chose this place was because my parents really wanted to have a wedding @ Kim Son. The good thing about having a typical vietnamese wedding at Kim Son (is that it's cheaper than a typical American wedding,) but there's certain things that make it "eh" in my opinion. The carpet is old and the color is going off, and they leave the unused tables slanting against the walls (so one area of the reception looks like a storage.) Maybe, I'm just a picky person. Anyways, I ended up renting sound equipment from elsewhere (Houston Sound Rentals) instead of paying extra for their rental equipment. This is because earlier in the year, I went to my friend's wedding @ Kim Son and my friend had rented the sound equipment from them and it turned out to be a disaster. The equipment was just HORRIBLE (lots of static, and the speakers were screeching and blasting in our ears.)

Food was not as good when served buffet style as when served regularly for dinner. Some glasses were dirty (food stains at the bottom) and left stains on the white linens before food was even served. Bathrooms smell funky. Staff is helpful and you can get a great deal for a lot of people!

We're keeping it pretty traditional and just going to stick with the Vietnamese restaurant since we know how the grown ups feel about the whole 10 course meal deal..

I just read another review that said she had 350 guest and paid $5000. That's a good deal considering I had 150 guests and paid $10,000. Maybe it was the food we served.. I don't know. Anyway, I had the reception at the Jefferson location upstairs in the ballroom so it wouldn't look like a restaurant. Beautiful place and didn't need lots of decorating. Food was suprisingly good. I had a cake problem too. They served the wedding cake but they took the groom's cake to the back and never came back out with it! We asked them to cut it, but that never happened. We ended up packing it and giving it to whoever stayed to help cleanup. They ask you to finish up by 12am and pay extra if you stay longer. Be careful of pricing per table. When my husband and I went for quotes, they asked for $600 a table for a mediocre menu. When we went with our parents the 2nd time, they asked for $490 a table for a better menu (more seafood and better dishes). So you should bargain when you get there! We also paid $300 to rent audio equipment to attach iPods to it. So.. Have someone in charge to get the cakes cut, to get a good price, to dim the lights for your first dance, etc etc. Good luck and have a happy wedding!!

I heard so many great things about Kim Son for weddings but was quite disappointed after I had my wedding there. The staff did not do a few things I had asked, such as SERVE THE CAKE! After I had cut it, it was brought to the back to be cut up, but was not brought out until more than half the guests left. I should have been paying attention, but I was busy When I asked a waiter, he just said they forgot. Another thing I did not like was that guests started ordering food that was not on the 10 course set menu that was being served(which is rude on their part) but the waiters went ahead brought it out to them and billed me for it without even mentioning it to me. So basically, the food was decent, the ballroom was great, the price was good, but I just didn't like the service.

As with all Asian weddings, I was FORCED to have my wedding here by my parents. But it all turned out better than I expected. It was a NICE BIG BALLROOM with the deep maroon/red that I wanted as my color theme so I didn't have to spend money fixing it. THe Dance floor was HUGE. The room divided itself in halves so my drunken college friends were on one side and my respected family friends of my parents were on the other. Food was better than expected and well worth the value as we got a lot. We paid by the table but if we were short some, we got a refund but if we had to add one or two tables, usually it wasn't a problem and didn't have to pay more. The manager of the place was VERY flexible. Made sure I got every last detail the way I wanted and also made his own suggestions which turned out great. There was valet parking but also garage parking that was secured (didn't have to pay extra) so vehicles were safe. We went to the MILAM one... not downtown main. Pretty chandaliers hung creating a romantic glow that was just right. Speaker system was perfect. Food service is better than at the restaurant hours. He even let me pay after we opened all our monetary gifts at the end of the day instead of before. We had 350 guests. Paid about $5000 and was gifted $15,000. If we had gone to an American banquet hall, I doubt we would have come out with that much as Asians always love their own asian food and Kim Son is a comfort place for all Asians. They also provided linens, centerpieces, and decor.
