Kitchen Gourmet & A Company Of Caterers

We just recently used Kitchen Gourmet catering for our wedding and it was absolutely perfect! I have nothing but good things to say about the company and the staff. Dave was very helpful and easy to work with. More importantly, the food was great! I would highly recommend this company to anyone planning a wedding who wants a stress free day!

I can't say enough good things about Sue and her team at Kitchen Gourmet!!! First off, during the planning stages, they really listened to the 'look' I was trying to pull off as far as the use of several different color linens for all the different tables and table sizes we were using. The day of, they not only achieved, but exceeded my expectations. The place looked amazing! They have a knack for knowing what works and what does not.

Secondly, the FOOD. People are still talking about it. I did not think that food would necessarily be something poeple walk away from the event still talking about as one of the highlights of the night. I was wrong=) The Pasta Bella was amazing, the salads (and their unique display) were amazing... everything was simply so DELICIOUS! Not one complaint in this area!

Finally, the staff. Everyone was so friendly and they were troopers! Our venue flooded two days before the wedding and the staff had to deal with having NO running water, NO AC inside while they prepped, and minimal electricity. Several last minute decisions had to be made the day of the event and everyone worked in less than stellar conditions, but through it all, everyone made it work and it really turned out great! This would not have been the case had the caterers been less experienced or professional.

I write this review having worked throughout college at various catering companies. I would use Kitchen Gourmet & A Company of Caterers again in a heartbeat!

I'm not sure you'll find a better value than Kitchen Gourmet... seriously. I did a TON of research before picking a caterer and we are so glad that we went with Sue, Dave and co.

From our first e-mail on, the entire process was extremely smooth. Both Dave and Sue were very responsive to e-mails, were flexible with the menu, were professional and polite, and gave us ridiculous amount of delicious food for our tastings.

During the wedding, the staff was awesome. We even had compliments on the bartenders and wait staff.

Bottom line: you can't go wrong in choosing Kitchen Gourmet! Big Bang for your Buck!!

Dave, Sue, and the team at Kitchen Gourmet were just wonderful at my daughter's wedding. They quickly provided an estimate for the reception, answered e-mailed questions very timely and were always available by phone. The guests raved about the food and how professional the staff was. We received several packages at the end of the reception of the left overs and were very glad that we didn't have to assist with all the clean-up at the end. =) I would highly recommend this company to everyone for any special event they may have!!

Kitchen Gourmet was awesome! They were very willing to work with my tight budget and helped me get the most bang for my buck. They were quick at responding to my emails with questions and concerns I had, and I never felt as if they were annoyed with how much I emailed them! I would recommend Kitchen Gourmet to anybody who needs catering for their wedding!

I loved working with Kitchen Gourmet! They provided great food (they even packaged up leftovers for us to take home!). We had many changes along the way and they were even accommodating and so nice to work with.

They could adjust they menus to fit what we wanted. We got married in a Temple and they were already knowledgeable about Kosher rules, which was nice. The prices aren't bad either. For the quality of food (OMG, you must try the brisket!), you really get a good deal compared to some other caterers in the northern Virginia area.

The service the day of was great. From start to finish, Dave and Sue and their team were a dream to work with and we could not have asked for a better experience and better service and great food!

The best I can say is that if they had a restaurant I would want to eat there all the time. :)

This place was great and a really good value. We decided to go with Shawn's BBQ for our wedding, we went to go have a tasting and they handed us a box that could feed an army. The food was so fantastic, really amazing bbq (pulled pork, chicken, brisket and great sides). All of my guests were raving about the food, this was something they actually enjoyed eating. They set it up as a buffet, but they have a serving option too.. they had a beautiful display and the servers were great! I even reccomend this for partys, bbqs, or other events.

Kitchen Gourmet was fabulous!! Dave was our primary contact from the outset, and was very responsive throughout the scheduling process. We selected from a preset buffet menu, which was much more lavish (and literally between $800-2000 cheaper) than the other catering companies that we considered. What I really liked was that when we didn't like a couple of the options on the preset menu, they were flexible and let us substitute in other options for the same price or a little more (when it was legitimately more expensive - e.g., shellfish.) The actual catering facilities were a little shabby, so if you visit for a tasting, don't worry - the quality of the food is excellent, and the staff are really nice. We had an enormous spread of appetizers (and butlered appetizers were included at no additional cost), entrees, and side dishes. We also had individual salads beforehand, which was nice because the guests who were waiting to go to the buffet could munch in the interim. For the price, quality, and professionalism, you really cannot beat Kitchen Gourmet.

WOW these guys were awesome. I am surprised they don't have more reviews here because they really do a great job. I met them in one of the many bridal shows and they have a modest booth so maybe that is why they don't get much attention compared to other more showy caterers, but they do provide some food which was delicious and that is why I decided to give them a try. I met with a lot of caterers throughout the year I was planning the wedding and overall Kitchen Gourmet was the best in all aspects.

I'll start with the most important one FOOD:
The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. They had a great veggie spread and passed appetizers for the cocktail hour. For dinner we had a plated salad so people had something to munch on while they waited for the buffet dinner. We had a chicken dish in some honey sauce, a pasta dish that is SO GOOD, rice, and veggies. They customized and were open to making changes to my menu to make it fit my budget and provide the variety of food I wanted for my guests. I had a buffet which didn't have any vegan options but I had 4 vegan guests, so they provided a vegan plated dish just for them.

SERVICE: They provided the bartenders, the waiters and promised a manager on site at the wedding. The day of they actually had both the manager and owner present. During the planning stages I met with both the owner and one of the managers Dave. They are both very friendly and helpful. I worked mostly with Dave and he has the patience of a saint. I must of emailed this man a million times asking so many questions and he was always pleasant, always helpful and always willing to make any changes and give me suggestions. The day of the wedding they were professional and did a great job. Right after the ceremony I was upstairs with my husband taking pictures while the guests enjoyed the cocktail hour, Dave came up with two glasses of water assuming we would be thirsty and could use drink. During the entire night the bartender kept finding my husband making sure we had something to drink. They also plated our dish so we wouldn't have to go through the buffett line and because they know brides never have a chance to eat unless you put the food right in front of them. They delivered more than I expected.

VALUE: I met with many caterers and received a lot of proposals. Theirs was the best deal by far and was the only one that I didn't feel nickled and dimed. Dear brides, when you start your search for a caterer you will learn what I mean, some want to charge you for every extra fork you might need, and any requests come with a hefty price tag, corkage fees, cake cutting fees, even a fee for the container that boils your water if you want coffee and tea for your guests (I am not kidding). Kitchen gourmet didn't have any of these, no cake cutting or corkage fees, no extra fork and glasses fees and where flexible to make changes to the menu and order of events etc with no extra fees. They gave me a very fair price.

Conclusion: Of all the caterers I met they provided the most service, best value they had the best food of all the tastings I went to. It was a no brainer to go with them. I highly recommend them!

From the first meeting with Kitchen Gourmet I was impressed. My daughter wanted a large wedding that would include all the family and friends that we wanted to invite. We planned for 200 and ended up with about 184. I requested a buffet menu that would taste good but have an affordable per person price. Kitchen Gourmet listened to my request for a harvest theme with a Virginia feel to it. I received so many compliments on the Colonial Chicken but the vegetable melange was an absolute surprise. I couldn't believe the variety of vegetables to include brussel sprouts, asparagus, and several types of squash. The happy hour "abundance table" was enjoyed by people who went out of their way to compliment the quality of the many items offered. The only "surprises" while working with kitchen gourment were that they went beyond my expectations. The price quoted included everything and we were even able to add additional soft drinks with a small additional price. The only area that I would have done differently would be to have the caterer assist with the discussion about the wine. We chose to provide our own alcohol and single event liquor license but the question of wine came up late in the planning and the groom's family had a different idea than the bride's. The groom's family was providing the liquor. The bride's family ended up buying bottles of wine for the reception but the conversation regarding pouring was not addressed. This was not a caterer fault but it could help to have the caterer bring up the issue about wine service when there are multiple folks involved in the catered event. My goal was to have the food and wine go together by having pouring during the meal. Folks went to the two bars which worked and the caterer was nice enough to offer pouring refills later in the meal. I wish I could have rated the Value for Cost a 5+. Kitchen Gourmet heard our concerns about cost in a tight economy yet they delivered a lovely wedding banquet that folks talked about afterwards.

I couldn't have been more happy with the catering services of Kitchen Gourmet. We just got married on September 4, 2011. We booked Kitchen Gourmet through a referral. Not only was the food exceptional, the service was fantastic as well. Dave (the owner I believe) was great with communication with me throughout the months before the event, and wanted to make sure everything was exactly how I wanted. The best part about Kitchen Gourmet is how AFFORDABLE they are. Any bride will be happy choosing Kitchen Gourmet for their special day.

We had a very good experience with the Kitchen Gourmet. The food at the reception was delicious, just like it was at the full tasting that they provided us with. The staff was excellent and attentive and never let a glass go empty. They were timely and efficient.

The only issue we ran into was that for our walk-through they sent a coordinator who, by our wedding date, was no longer with the company. We were no notified of this, and a week before the wedding, when we called to confirm everything, we were informed that our coordinator was gone. We are not sure why we were not notified sooner and had to call on our own, and were not pleased.

Sue, the owner, personally called back to handle this, and she was the one who volunteered to be our coordinator. She ran everything without a hitch, showing up with multiple options of linens for us to choose from even though it wasn't required in our contract, and overseeing a wonderfully catered reception.

There was a bump in the road, but the Kitchen Gourmet handled it fairly well, and the portion of the day that they were responsible for went off without a hitch and we received nothing but compliments about our caterer from the guests.

We would absolutely recommend the Kitchen Gourmet, but make sure you call ALL of your vendors to confirm everything.

The Kitchen Gourmet staff was great. They assisted us in creating a delicious menu. The guests are still raving about the pasta and cookies! An interesting thing about Kitchen Gourmet is they do not host tastings at their facility. They actually prepare and package the food. Then, you pick it up and taste it in the comfort of your home without having people hover over you while you eat. They supply you with enough food for about 4 or 5 people, so we took the food over to a friend’s house and had a tasting party- with score sheets. Additionally, they worked diligently to make the punch a specific color that I desired. The only concern I had was that I requested that the food not contain nuts due to allergies and a couple of the items that were prepared for the tasting had nuts. Our wedding planner notified them regarding the matter, and the staff was very apologetic and put extra effort to ensure that this did not happen the day of the wedding. Lastly, Kitchen Gourmet was originally suppose to only cater the wedding reception but when we ran into some difficulty finalizing plans for our rehearsal dinner, Kitchen Gourmet even offered to cater our rehearsal dinner at a very reasonable rate. We would highly recommend Kitchen Gourmet!

We used Kitchen Gourmet, but more specifically, we used Shawn's Smokehouse, which is Kitchen Gourmet's BBQ division. Our wedding was outdoors, and our reception in a barn-- BBQ was a perfect fit.




KG seems to be a bustling catering business, so communication with them was sometimes hit or miss. They are also not so much into cutting you a break on the quote. That said, they are TOTALLY worth the effort and price.




When we arranged a tasting, we were shocked at the way it went down-- rather than come in for what could be a potentially awkward tasting, they encouraged us to sample their BBQ fare in the comfort of our own home, at our own pace. Basically, they provided us with a giant cooler full of food (brisket, chicken, pulled pork, potato salad, beans, mac-n-cheese, even brownies!), along with bottles of BBQ sauce and re-heating instructions. That alone is a MAJOR selling point. Every single morsel was beyond delicious, and it broke my heart that I couldn't serve all of it to my guests. We settled on BBQ chicken, pulled pork (with bread for sandwiches), BBQ baked beans, and -- get this-- a macaroni and cheese bar. Oh yes, mac and cheese, with like a zillion options for toppings. Grilled onions, bacon, french fried onions, sour cream, you name it. It was heaven. All the food went over really well with our guests-- but it also kinda put em in a food coma. ;-)




I hope you won't be put off by the idea of BBQ at a wedding. KG really made it a very classy event-- gorgeous presentation, great table set-up. Their staff was friendly and super-efficient. They operated like a well-oiled machine, and our wedding reception was so much the better for it. I should note that KG also coordinated our post-ceremony cocktail hour, where we served a variety of appetizers and drinks. It was so well done. I wish I could have attended my own wedding as a guest. Maybe you can invite me to yours, if you go with Shawn's Smokehouse, just so I...

Kitchen Gourmet makes DELICIOUS food. Several of my guests have told me that it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding. My husband and I decided to go with buffet stations-- a mashed potato bar, an Greek bar, an Italian bar with made-to-order pasta, sauces, toppings, etc., and a stir-fry bar with all kinds of good stuff. Dave and his staff were very accommodating and easy to work with, and were happy to make changes to the menu as desired. They always responded to emails and phone calls very quickly, and even kicked in some extras for free. My one disappointment-- and it was a small one-- was that at the last minute Dave was not able to be there for our reception. A very capable replacement (the company owner, actually), came in his place, but because of the last minute change, there were a couple of small details that slipped through the cracks (For one, I had provided sparkling cider for non-drinkers for the toast, and it was never offered as an option.) No biggie, as I said, their outstanding work and professionalism was exemplary.

The food was absolutely delicious and the presentation was flawless! Many people commented on how yummy the food was. The staff was very helpful and there were numerous table settings to choose from. Everyone was very responsive to me and my guests and I would definitely use them again!
