Wedding Flowers and Day of Coordinator Services
Reviews for Kuga Designs
The flowers for our wedding were AMAZING! Lush, fresh, beautifully arranged, perfect colors, and perfect shape. I loved everything about the flowers at our wedding: my bouquet, the bridal party flowers, centerpieces, cocktail pieces, flowers on the door to the reception, wheat grass escort card display…everything look straight out of a wedding magazine! When Brenda delivered my personal flowers in the morning, I could hardly wait for my make-up to be completed so that I could admire my bouquet. Later that day, I recall the moment that our event coordinator gave my husband & I a sneak peak of the dining room — I wanted to scream at the top of my lungs because the centerpieces were so beautiful and surpassed my greatest expectations.
Brenda and her staff did an incredible job with the set-up and everything was delivered on time. She is amazingly talented and was able to translate my vision into something more beautiful than I could have imagined. We received many, many compliments on the flowers for our wedding — even my coworkers, who did not attend the wedding and only saw pictures, asked for Brenda’s business information! In fact, if anyone were to tell me that my flowers were not among the most incredible flowers in the whole entire universe of wedding flowers, I would not believe them.
Prior to the wedding, I met with Brenda to discuss the wedding florals. I shared with her my overall vision - lush, romantic, round, pink, and green - and she gave me many great ideas/suggestions. She even taught me that my colors were not pink and green—but chartreuse and pink (who knew!). Brenda was always prompt to return emails and had a quick turnaround on updates to the contract. I also appreciated her attention to detail and her willingness to go out of her way to provide excellent service. Equally impressive about Brenda was her professionalism, positive attitude, and overall genuine, kind personality.
In sum, I would give Brenda Mira my absolute highest recommendation for her floral services. I would even go as far to say that you would be silly to NOT hire her for your wedding. Her artistic talent, professionalism, and flexibility are unmatched! Brenda — you’re #1!
Brenda also acted as my Day-Of-Coordinator—everything at the reception moved smoothly and we even were ahead of schedule! She and her assistants went out of their way to ensure that myself and my guests were pleased and had everything that we needed. Quite a few of our guests commented on how wonderful and gracious the Kuga Designs team was. Prior to the wedding, I gave Brenda a list of items to check and ensure were correctly arranged/accounted for. All of the details and instructions were followed perfectly! Brenda kept the day running smoothly, coordinated well with the other vendors, and made the day completely stress free for both my husband and myself. In preparation for the wedding, Brenda took the time to meet with me to go over the details, take notes, and provide feedback. I highly recommend Brenda for her DOC services.
Brenda and her assistant Brandon DOC'd my March 2009 wedding and it was one of the best decisions we made. I really couldn't imagine my wedding without her. Brenda went above and beyond the call of duty for a Day of Coordinator. We DIYed our flowers so Brenda helped us scout out flowers, negotiated pricing for us on flowers, and helped us with the set up. She was awesome and made sure that the floral vendors gave us the highest quality flowers- I can only imagine what she does for her actual floral clients! Seriously, I was instant messaging with her past midnight and she was at the flower market at 7am the next morning scouting out florals for us!
Even if she had not gone above and beyond the call of duty - I still would have been 150% satisfied with Brenda and her team. Leading up the wedding, Brenda kept us on track with building the timeline and dealing with the little details. Things I didn't really want to think about were just magically handled. She was also prompt in all her communications and I never worried if we had been forgotten. In the couple days leading up to the wedding, she was a great point person for all of our vendors and having her around made everything so much more enjoyable. On the day of, we didn't worry about anything on the day of the wedding, nor were we bothered by anyone. Everything was set up perfectly and she worked really well with the catering staff. Brenda also flawlessly executed the timing of our wedding which was a 2 part ceremony (Chinese tea ceremony and western ceremony)from shuffling the guests around, getting me down the aisle, organizing the lion dancers and getting all the guests inside after cocktail hour.
Compared with a few other DOCs I spoke with, Brenda charged a very very reasonable fee and she more than earned it - in fact, I'm sure we came out ahead.
Finally, Brenda really enjoys what she does and it shows. She is passionate about weddings and flowers and its great to be around someone like that. I highly recommend Brenda for DOC or floral services.
I found Brenda’s blog while I was surfing the internet for floral ideas. I really liked her blog and I thought her passion, creativity, and down-to-earthness was readily apparent. (It’s a wonky blog, and I mean it in the nicest way – she really thinks about flowers, she has a wide range of styles, and she’s up to date on floral trends. Check it out.). When I realized that she was actually local (!), I contacted her immediately. My then-fiance-now-husband and I liked her right away when we met her. She was very prompt with returning emails and phone calls, and I loved working with her. It’s very easy to talk with her.
Everyone cares about different (all/some/none) aspects of planning a wedding. For me, flowers were something I cared a lot about, and (un)fortunately I know enough about flowers and varietals to be picky. I realized a few months before our wedding that there was no way I could possibly DIY wedding flowers given the time sensitivity and enormous amount of labor involved. Brenda is an ideal wedding florist. She personally likes weddings (some florists don’t), she’s artistic AND also extremely organized. She worked with what I thought was a fairly difficult budget given what we wanted, and gave us suggestions for lowering our floral costs (different styles of arrangements, etc). Her work is beautiful, fresh, meticulous, and she was patient through the process of refining the designs. Because she is starting her own studio, her prices are extremely reasonable if not downright low. Decent glassware that can stand up to the weight and pressure of large arrangements can be expensive (and an area where florists may add on), but she gave us the option of renting, or buying vases at cost. She preordered nearly everything at the SF flower mart for our event to maximize color scheme and freshness, and she kindly met me there (she goes frequently) so I could point out specific color schemes and varietals. I was stunned when I walked into our venue on our wedding day – the flowers were gorgeous. We received many compliments from our guests – some said they had never seen such beautiful flowers at a wedding. She delivered the personal flowers on time (if not a little early), and worked really well with Jessica (our coordinator) to make our venue stunning.
In summary: check out her blog. Meet her, hire her before she raises her prices to levels that are worthy of her skill and care.
