Kurt Nielsen Photography was established in 1997 after eleven years of working as a portrait photographer at
different photography chain stores. Kurt specializes in engagement, wedding, maternity and baby, children and family, and high school senior portraits. Kurt also photographs many special events and local business for their office portraits, advertisements
and promotions.
Giving back to the community is something Kurt takes very seriously and has been involved with many local and national charitable organizations including but not limited to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Ohio, The American Heart
Association Go Red Campaign and The Epilepsy Center of Northwest Ohio.
Kurt’s ever-changing innovative sets, his tremendous knowledge of in studio and on location photography along with his creative style and mastery of digital artistry have made Kurt Nielsen one of the
area’s foremost premiere photographers.
In 2009, Kurt expanded his photography business to include Kurt's Kustom Keepsakes, a green screen photo booth. This is different than the traditional photo booths because you have your picture taken in front of a green screen, much like the
weathermen and movie industry uses. Once the picture is taken, we use computer software to remove the green background and replace it with an image of your choice, making you and your guests appear to be in another place.
For example, we took Kurt's Kustom Keepsake to a fundraiser at our local ice skating rink. The host chose to have a NHL arena as a background. A very famous former NHL player made a surprise guest appearance at this fundraiser and
allowed guests to have their picture taken with him in front of the green screen. We then "dropped in" the arena background, and the final picture looked like the guests were at the NHL arena with the professional hockey player! It
was a chance in a lifetime moment captured by Kurt's Kustom Keepsakes and raised a tremendous amount of money for the cause.
Obviously, that is just one example and was a fundraiser. But, we can use Kurt's Kustom Keepsakes in place of the boring dollar dance, as a gift for the bride or groom, or any reason that you may want. We can also print 4" x
6" prints on the spot for your guests to take home as a party favor. We can create any background that you want or use an image that you already have. Plus, you will receive all of the images that were created at your event on a disk. The possibilities are
endless and everyone always has a blast.

Kurt is the hardest working photographer you will ever stumble across. If you want a guy who won't miss a single memory , he is your guy. It is often said that no one can be two places at once but Kurt has almost mastered that trick. The photos we got back we 10 out of 10 in quality and creativness. In the world of photography you get what you pay for and Kurt is worth every penny.

Kurt has been taking our family photos for years - from infancy, senior photos and family pics, so when the time came for our first wedding there was no question who to call. He captures every moment that one could ask for during that special event. He has years of experience that shows when he is able to capture those "special" spontaneous moments as well. I first met Kurt years ago when he photographed events for a non-profit agency I was working for. I was always impressed with his photography, and over the years I began to consider him a friend and looked forward to working with him at each event. When my fiancée finally popped the question, there was no doubt in my mind that I would ask Kurt to photograph our wedding. Kurt undoubtedly delivers a first class service from start to finish and his work achieved some outstanding shots of our special day. We never felt under pressure to perform and he made us feel more than comfortable in front of the camera, while still knowing what would make an amazing picture for our album. Kurt caught absolutely every big moment and many of the little ones that we would want to remember throughout the night. His green screen was also a big hit and allowed us to bring a touch of our home in Seattle to a Midwest wedding. We were absolutely taken back (and still are) with the pictures - they are simply stunning! Thank you Kurt for giving us something that we can cherish forever!

Kurt Nielson was AMAZING!!!...don't settle for anything less. I planned a wedding for our daughter in 3 weeks. He was highly recommended...so glad he was available for our morning wedding...then on he went to his other appointment. He did not rush us at all. The pictures and slide show were AMAZING. He is a wonderful person; a gentleman; a true professional. He recommended and worked along beautifully with Aaron of Showcase Video Productions of Toledo.

Kurt was AMAZING! All our guests were very impressed. He was fun and understanding. He was fast, and has very unique ideas for some beautiful pictures. We went to numerous locations for our wedding shots. They are all beautiful! He knew how to ease the stress of the wedding and make everyone smile. kurt took our engagement pictures, created our wedding invitations, and took our reception pictures. they turn out amazing. my only problem was that i didnt take kurt with me to jamaica and do my wedding pictures there! i will never use another photographer ever. kurt will see me and my family in the future, cant wait to see what he comes up with next. thanks kurt for everything.

Kurt is truly outstanding! He repeatedly demonstrated his creativity during our engagement photo session and the day of the wedding. He is professional, prepared for anything and goes the extra mile to get the perfect shot! I have been a bridesmaid in many weddings and never witnessed a photographer with a better attention to detail or ability to put everyone in front of the camera at ease (since not everyone likes their picture taken!) Kurt was, by far, the hardest working person on our wedding day and his efforts showed. He was with us from beginning to end, guiding us through and making the day easier than I could have anticipated. He is professional, well prepared, personable, and on-point all the time. Whether it was group photos or action shots, posed looks or in-the-moment, he was there to capture the memories. I have known a lot of people who have had their wedding in Toledo OH and surrounding area. After the wedding I always hear the same thing, such disappointment with the photographer. When they see our wedding photos they are sooooo jealous! KURT DOES AN AMAZING JOB! All of these photographers around have these stupid gimmicks to get you into a contract. I saw one guy that brought 4 or 5 people with him. Well, all you have now is 4 or 5 people taking Horrible photos, you end up with a boat-load of dreadful pictures and a bunch of people in your way and distracting your guests, making demands of you and it's all just ridiculous. That example was the worst batch of photography I ever witnessed and it happens so often in Toledo. Kurt on the other hand is very talented. Every single photo is a gem! We feel so lucky!
A year later we used Kurt to take photos of us to use as professional/promotional material. We get so many compliments on those photos it's unreal. Thanks to Kurt, we have really come to appreciate the value of quality photography and the difference it can make in your life to come. We have been extremely impressed with Kurt and we hope you will use him too!

This depends on the event and what is needed. I have wedding packages with a 5 hour minimum, and can always customize for the wedding needs.
Are you available to shoot extra hours? If yes, how much do you charge for extra hours?
Yes, my usual rate is $125 per hour over the package price for extra coverage.
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
Although a meal is not required, it is greatly appreciated. Remember, the photographer is the only vendor that is with you for the entire day from beginning to end. Also, if you do provide a meal for the photographer, it is a good idea to have the photographer stay in the same dining area as the guests so that if something comes up, such as an impromptu speech or other intimate moment occurs, the photographer can capture it and not miss that moment.
Do you charge for travel?
Yes if the event is outside of the Greater Toledo Area; I charge $30 per hour travel time (there and back) and if more than two hours away, I request a hotel room to be booked also.
How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?
Usually within 2 - 3 weeks after the event.
In what format are the initial proofs offered?
I provide a lifelong slide show on a DVD and also post the images on-line for your guests to view and order.
How long can the client keep the proofs?
The lifelong slide show is included in the package price.
Do you retain the copyright for the photos?
I retain the right to use all of the images for advertising and other purposes. My Elite Wedding package includes a disc of all of the "original" (raw) images. For any other package, a disc of the original images may also be purchased for an additional fee. Any images that have been created from the "original" images (Art images) will not be included in the disc.
Do you reserve the right to publish the photos?
I retain the right to use all of the images for advertising and other purposes, and this is in the wedding contract that the bride and groom sign when they book the event.
Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client?

This depends on the wedding package that is purchased and the customer's needs and wants. Upgrades and extra albums are also available.
When will the client get the final album?
Once the bride and groom receive their proofs from the wedding, they should decide on which images they want for their wedding album. I will then create their wedding pages and have the bride and groom approve them and then make any changes that they may have. As soon as I receive final approval from the bride and groom, I will submit the album pages for the album to be created. Once the album artwork is submitted, it usually takes two to three weeks for the album to arrive at my studio. So the process depends on how many changes are made and how soon the bride and groom give me the final approval of the artwork for their album.
