The moment I walked into this breathtakingly pristine place, I knew I was meant to get married here...and I did just a few weeks ago! There is something just so enchanting about this place, as if you've walked into a different time. We had our ceremony in the south garden, which is this gorgeous, cozy nook with looming trees and greenery lit with delicate string lights. It gave such a magical, romantic vibe to our occasion. We loved that we found a venue that could be a one-stop affair for both the ceremony and reception. After the ceremony, there's an amazing terrace where we had a cocktail hour and set-up the bar for the evening. And our guests loved it because they could see the ocean, which is only a block away. The ballroom is the center of the building and has a wonderfully inviting warmth that adds to LJWC's charm. Our guests were all blown away by the beauty of this place.

One of the greatest bonuses of getting married here? Sharlene, the manager of the venue. She is one of the most caring, helpful, patient, informative, and generous people we had the honor of working with during our wedding preparations. To have someone so delightful, professional, and available to assist us in our wedding process is nothing short of a gift. I cannot say enough things about how positive and incredible our experience was and how much she played a part in it. We truly had the wedding of our dreams. I highly recommend this stunning historical venue for your big day.

Sharlene and the staff at La Jolla Woman's Club were beyond accommodating. We loved the venue and how well the staff was organized. Sharlene was a pleasure to work with and made our planning process a breeze. The La Jolla Woman's Club was easy to access for any preparation or event planning by us or our vendors. We would highly recommend this as a one of the best venues in San Diego.

Our wedding was perfect and magical in every single way and it completely exceeded every one of our (very high) expectations. So much of this had to do with the gorgeous venue -- we cannot tell you how many people commented on what a beautiful setting we chose. My father is a major critic when it comes to architecture and venues and he thought that it couldn't have been more perfect and beautiful.

The La Jolla Woman's Club was a perfect place to host a wedding reception. Sharlene was great to work with and always available to offer suggestions and answer questions.

The La Jolla womens club was a beautiful venue for our wedding reception. The management was very responsive, friendly and provided great insight for planning and organizing our event. They worked perfectly with our other vendors to pull off a flawless event. We had our dinner outside on the front long with lighting in the trees and it could not have been more beautiful. The cocktail hour was in the side garden with gorgeous views and an intimate setting. The dance floor was inside and decorations along with our superb DJ made it a fun and energetic setting. Overall a stress reducing and fun experience with a truly perfect wedding reception.

Sharlene was amazing! She was so wonderful to deal with, so kind, so caring, so helpful. The venue was beautiful and the location was perfect! It made for the most perfect wedding weekend! The pictures turned out beautifully, the ambiance was incredible, the care and service were unbelievable! our guests were amazed at how beautiful everything was. Sharlene have us great suggestions and guided us to the perfect wedding. I highly recommend the La Jolla Womans club to anyone who wants a gorgeous wedding. It was perfect!

I am a flower designer who recently did a wedding at the La Jolla Woman's Club and was so imlpressed with the new management that I just have to write to you. I have never before written about a venue but I must say that the service is so improved it is like nite and day. Sharlene Thompson is VERY service minded and it is such a pleasure to work with her. My bride was over the top happpy. I would send every bride I have to her if I could. The place is so beautiful and so well kept and managed, it is like haveing a brand new venue to sell. I highly recommend that any bride who is looking for a lovely unique and personal venue check it out.

Beautiful venue! It was exactly what I wanted and fit in my budget, although when everything was said and done it was more than I thought it was going to cost. I only wish the cost included more set up time. Two hours was not enough for my vendors, so I had to extend my time, which really added up.

A fabulous spot for our summer wedding! The outdoor space is gorgeous and it was the exactly what we were looking for. Sharlene was an absolute dream to work with. We highly recommend!

Beautiful facility, grounds, Sharlene was a delight to work with, very courteous, helpful, accommodating and professional . Although there was ample seating outside before guests were allowed into the hall, there was not enough seating in the shade. Sharlene was quick to remedy that situation. Facility is a little difficult for elderly or handicapped people to ambulate.

My hubby and I loved our wedding at La Jolla Woman's Club and working with Sharlene. It was a seamless process working with her to prepare for our big day at the venue. She was incredibly helpful, professional, and had great ideas. The club is beautiful - inside and out. A very classy place with gorgeous, romantic grounds. I highly recommend this venue and Sharlene! It's a venue worth checking out.

The La Jolla Women’s club was the perfect venue for wedding day. After searching for a venue that would fit our personalities, my fiancé and I found the club to be a beautiful backdrop for our wedding day. As a historical building it possesses a classic charm I had been searching for. Sharlene Thompson and her staff were a delight to work with. They were all very personable and helpful throughout the planning process and in ensuring things ran smoothly on our special day. The venue is located in quaint downtown La Jolla within walking distance to the beach, hotels and many restaurants. The beautiful gardens, arcaded patios and large, partition-able interior of the club provide versatile spaces for planning a variety of activities. The club only provides the grounds, you do have to use vendors from their “preferred vendor’s” list (as I understand, these vendors have a specific insurance the club requires). However, we liked the freedom of being able to choose the style of vendor to go with our venue. Sharlene and her staff have worked with many vendors and we found those that she had recommended to us were very affordable and professional. Our whole experience in planning our wedding with the La Jolla Women’s Club was very enjoyable; I would recommend this venue as a great place to plan any formal celebration.

The venue is beautiful, the staff is friendly, the grounds are wonderful. They do have quite a few rules, so just make sure you know them ahead of time. Here are a few of the main ones to be aware of; no candles, no sparklers, no red flower petals, and music has to be off at 9:30. The club will not open the front gates until your time begins. For example, we booked the hours of 5-10 pm and planned for the ceremony to start at 5 pm. We figured guests would arrive before 5 and slowly get to their seats. The venue would not open the gates until exactly 5 pm. We ended up switching our hours from 4:30 - 9:30 so that guests could come in early. Some still arrived before 4:30 and were waiting outside the gate until they would let them in.

Even with all of those rules, the wedding was amazing. Almost every one of our guests said it was the best wedding they had been to. As long as you work around the rules and know them ahead of time, you will be more than pleased with using this venue. I wouldn't trade it for anything!!

La Jolla Womans Club is a beautiful venue that even with weathering a storm, worked out just wonderfully for a recent client of our company, Turquoise Events. Yes our bride & groom were hoping for a typical sunny day in California when a rainy storm decided to roll through. This caused us to move our intended outdoor cocktail party to inside where the reception/dinner was setup.
The changes were made with ease and efficiency. Guests and even the bride & groom didn't notice the setup wasn't the original plan...Just a flawless maneuver. As much as we all would wish for no rain on the wedding day (besides it's good luck factor), it does happen and we were impressed with how prepared and stress-free LJWC handled the situation.
The venue is really quite versatile with the multiple areas it has to offer. Our bride & groom were married in a church down the street but if they had wanted, LJWC offers enough space to host your entire wedding, including ceremony, at their venue. The all-in-one is a great option. It allows you to feel that you are hosting everyone to one place (like your "home") creating a very intimate feel while also keeping it easy for the guests & wedding party; not to mention it can be cost-effective as well. LJWC also adds a special touch by offering above & beyond services such as other rentals and/or other preferred partners in case you are need of a vendor!
We would recommend working with Sharlene and utilizing the great services of the LJWC anytime. Many things stand out in our mind but the top two are: 1. LJWC is quite organized and on top of every detail which is a great asset to a wedding planner and their client.
2. LJWC is professional at all times while also enjoying every minute of the planning process and actual event. You can tell they really love what they do!

Everyone on their staff was courteous, diligent, fun...just a great team to work with. Oh and did we mention the ocean views available out in parts of the courtyard!

I would highly recommend La Jolla Woman's Club as an exceptional wedding venue in the village of La Jolla, California, one block from the beach. When my daughter and I first visited the venue, we fell in love with its old world charm and versatility for a wedding. The historical setting is classy, romantic, and offers gardens, arches, dressing areas, parlors, ocean peek views and breezes, and a lovely ballroom with a grand stage. You can easily cross the street to take photos at Cuvier Park on the beach before, during, or after the wedding. Every aspect of the early planning stages and day of coordination was made seamless with the professional direction of the club's manager, Sharlene Thompson, who is a veteran event organizer. As far as value, after viewing numerous venues in and around San Diego, I wouldn't hesitate to say that this venue was by far the most cost effective. All tables and a large screen for a slide show are included in the rental which was a great money savings. We were also able to use approved caterers and a bar company allowing us to personalize our party and save money. The wedding was on a Sunday in February which also lowered costs. Tables are included which was another great money savings. The La Jolla Woman’s Club is a premier San Diego venue and the location offers conveniences such as nearby restaurants, boutiques, and services. We chose the boutique style Empress Hotel for our guests, which is a two block walk to the club. The rehearsal dinner was next door, at The Cottage, and that was also so convenient. Our guests raved about the entire event. Please disregard older reviews, as any problems incurred by previous management are no longer applicable.

I had LJWC as my wedding venue last month, and I have to say, Sharlene was a superb help in the whole process. She was very knowledgeable about everything, cautioning me on several things I have overlooked and helping me with others. She is super nice and also very reasonable. On top of it, I fell in love with this venue when I saw it. It has the quaintness and old charm of a victorian house, but the elegance of a country club, adorned with beautiful courtyards and flowers all around. I'm so happy with my venue, and I think it did a lot to make my wedding the magical day I've always wanted. Would recommend it to any wedding couple with good taste.

OK, the only reason I rated three stars for budget and flexibility was because this location was a little bit of a splurge because of it's unmatched beauty. Because it is a historical site, there is little flexibility in the many rules that exsist to keep the club in the meticulous condition that it's in. We were more than happy to pay and play by the rules in order to dwell in such a gorgeous setting. That being said, everything else was amazing. Betsy the event coordinator was always willing to answer any questions I had; the club is open on the weekends for those who are considering the location for their event. We got married at Cuvier Park which is on the ocean and walking distance from the club (and very reasonably priced since it's a city park-find out more info on the club's website). Our wedding was during the day and the club glowed with warm light, laughter and love. Even though we were on a budget, most guests stated that ours was the nicest wedding they had ever been to. I agree and I also thank La Jolla Woman's Club for providing an exceptional setting.

I have been fortunate enough to celebrate 2 personal/family weddings in addition to showcasing wedding & event cakes (as owner of Sweet Cheeks Baking Co.) at the La Jolla Women's Club numerous times...and what a beautiful spot! It features so many cool aspects: beautiful ceremony areas, close to beach & accommodations for guests, stunning garden setting, covered porches (which protect guests, flowers, food & cake from sun), great stage for big band, and lovely nooks & areas for unique photography.

Sharlene is a great addition to the team at the Club, and she has enhanced the vendor list to help clients to find more amazing professionals.

The La Jolla Woman's Club is such a fantastic place for weddings. I love photographing weddings there. Fountains, rose gardens and a beautiful flower garden as a back drop. Inside and out has such an awesome charm and there one block from the beach. It's such a great location. There are also plenty of great hotels close by for family and friends to stay at. As an extra plus you get to work with Sharlene who is very professional and super sweet.
