I am a wedding and event coordinator. I refer very few caterers with great confidence. BBQ Smolehouse catering is excellent all the way around. The staff is mature, motivated, happy, and the best. The food is delectable. I've had choosy Texan clients choose their BBQ over many other contenders. The manager-coordinator Renee is upfront, fair and honest. Another great attribute is response time. BBQ Smokehouse catering will get back to you promptly. It is a pleasure referring this caterer as they are well rounded. Excellent!

Our wedding went off without a hitch. Much of the credit goes to BBQ Smokehouse. They delivered what was promised -- delicious food, an extremely competent and flexible staff. Pre- wedding planning was essential. And the staff was warm,friendly and added much to the fun and success of our wedding.

BBQ Smokehouse Catering did a fantastic job at my wedding. They worked their magic for me when my original caterer fell through. The Food was amazing and everyone at the wedding loved it. BBQ Lovers at the reception said it was better than some BBQ in the south! The team set up, cleaned up and keep everything refreshed during the service. The even wrapped up the extras for our guests to take home. I have used them to cater an event at my work because they do such a good job!

This vendor is a mixed bag in our eyes. We used them for our wedding this summer. I'm not here to rip on the management of this company, but just telling our story. I have nothing against Renee, the manager, but I want to let other prospective patrons to know what they're getting into. I will give positive as well as negative points in this review.
The good: Excellent value, delicious food, excellent servers and staff. Our wedding day went relatively smoothly with the exception of a minor irratating bump
The bad: The catering manager, Renee. Dealing with her before and after were stressful and irritable.
The BBQ was delicious the servers and staffers were very friendly and helpful. The problem was the management of our wedding. Renee did not seem to brief our catering coordinator properly and there was some early confusion before the wedding. But things got worked out. But overall, Renee's customer service seemed to deteriorate as the wedding approached. When we first spoke to her she was very flexible, friendly, helpful, etc. But on follow up calls leading to the wedding she seemed more unorganized and not as service oriented. Things came to a head when we called her after our wedding to state that we didn't think the wedding coordinator was properly briefed. Then we also had some small things we wanted to give feedback on. Nothing disasterous, we just wanted to air them out. We talked to Renee and she was really defensive. She seemed to be throwing everyone under the bus (her staff). She did not take ownership for much of the mistakes and often accused us of being mistaken. After much discussion she did end up apologizing but it seemed very insincere and left a bad taste in our mouth. Overall, the wedding went great and the catering was great thanks to our wedding coordinator as well as the staff that was there, but dealing with Renee before and after the wedding would make me hesitate on recommending this vendor. I worked primarily with Larry and his wife Renee for my wedding. Renee was always extremely responsive via phone and email which was great. When I first went in for a tasting I got to meet with Larry, his food was amazing. I was having a small wedding so they did not BBQ on spot although I wish I would have asked for them to do so.
I wish I could be giving them a better review, there are just a couple of circumstances that occured which dissapointed me. First, the lady they had deliver and set up the food ran late. I specifically gave them directions and when their empoyee came she mentioned she used directions that I did not recommend because they get everyone lost. The food was still good, I love their BBQ chicken and their pulled pork; however the Texas Beef Brisket was dry and the food was cold by the time it got to the reception.
I can understand this being a one off situation because Larry and Renee were very reputable people and their food is great. I would just make sure and have better communication on directions along with pay extra to make sure their food is cooked on the premices.
I am a barbecue nut, but I have to tell you, that was the best barbecue I’ve ever eaten anywhere, anytime, period. All the guys in my crew are really looking forward to our next party.
People who attended the wedding never fail to single out the food as one of the best parts of a wonderful event. Each of the three meals you made for us was so distinct and each so memorable and superb.
I can’t thank you enough for the fabulous food we had at both our rehearsal and wedding! It was outstanding! Everyday I hear about the salmon – every day! All of the food was incredible and it was a pleasure to work with both of you. Thank you both for being there…! You are incredibly talented, Larry!
I wanted to pass along a quick note to tell you what a great job you did with our order. The guests raved about the great food (the pulled pork was exceptional). The service was great - the food arrived when and how it was supposed to and the driver was very professional and courteous.

FAQ for BBQ Smokehouse Catering
Is it possible to pair barbeque with wine? Yes it is and it's fair to say we are experts. When you schedule a tasting we can work up a menu to match the wine you've selected or suggest a wine to complement your menu.
How long have you been in business? Catering in the North Bay since 1996.
Do you bring a smoker to every event? For all-day and weekend events, the portable smoker comes along but it's not always practical or desirable. Most of our meats require 6 to 12 hours in the smoker before they are ready to serve. Often Larry starts the meat smoking as early as 4 in the morning. Later, on site, we use very low heat to bring the temperature up slowly. When the facility does not provide a means to reheat, we may be able to bring our own oven. Otherwise, smoked meats are kept piping hot en route in insulated carriers.
