I can't stop looking at our photos. Laurie did an amazing job. She was so professional and easy to work with all day. Didn't rush us but kept us on schedule. Everyone is raving about how great they are. We've only gotten the first 25 or so and I can't wait for the rest of them.

After looking at Laurie's website everyday for months, I knew I had to use her for my photographer. She is the sweetest person you will ever meet and her work speaks for itself. I love every single image she took at my wedding. Whenever you thought 'this would make a great picture' she was already there snapping away. You don't even know she is there and she gets the most amazing shots! After seeing her work, you understand why she charges what she does. You will not be disappointed! Not only does she have an eye for the perfect shot, but everyone loved her! Can't wait to have another major event in my life to use her again!

Laurie was one of the first photographers we met when interviewing photographers for our wedding and we quickly used her as a standard to compare to other photographers. Laurie is fun-loving, enthusiastic, patient, and most importantly a great photographer that has a talent to capture the emotions of the wedding. Laurie's enthusiasm on our wedding day was real and her love of photography could be shown through her work. We can't stop looking at our photos and have gotten so many wonderful compliments from our friends and family. We are so happy Laurie was our photographer and even happier that her photojournalistic style transcends into a work of art.

Laurie is a true professional! From make-up advice to fantastic wedding shots - she is an expert in making the bride and guests feel comfortable and taken care of. I highly recommend Laurie and her team.

We loved Laurie's website the first time we saw it. When I spoke to Laurie by phone I knew she was perfect. She exceeded our expectations on our wedding day. If you want a super talented, down to earth, warm and fun photographer, Laurie is it! She captured moments no other photographer would have gotten. The pictures we have are priceless, and couldn't be more pleased with them! I hate being in pictures and Laurie actually made our photos fun! You can sense her warmth through her photographs. Look at her website and you will see. She was on time, and her and her assistant photographer worked so hard at our wedding.... they took so many pictures, and they had the right amount of interaction.... never too much or too little, second photographer were great! I would definitely recommend Laurie Peacock!!! Linda and Steve

Laurie is an amazing photographer. She takes beautiful pictures and has an impressive ability to make us feel comfortable in front of the camera. In addition to her photography skills, she is fantastically reliable. In the whole wedding planning process, I got extremely frustrated dealing with the unexpected. With Laurie, there were no surprises. The price was the price, she showed up when she said she was going to, she took the pictures we asked for, and she was bright and cheerful the whole time.
I recommend Laurie very highly. While the photographer doesn't make a huge impact on how the wedding and the reception go, you spend a lot of time with her and she's the one you rely to make you look good long after you are husband and wife. I had fun with Laurie and I will be so proud to show off the pictures she took for many years to come.

I wish I could give Laurie Peacock more than 5 stars. She was absolutely wonderful to work with! From our engagment pictures, to our wedding and all of the planning in between, Laurie was a joy to have around. Our engagement pictures and wedding pictures are incredibly beautiful and really could not have captured the spirit of our relationship and the excitement of our wedding day any better! I have already recommended Laurie to friends of mine, and based on seeing my pictures they have been quick to book Laurie for their weddings as well. Not only is she incredibly talented and dedicated to capturing each moment perfectly, but her energy and excitement are truly infectious. Our wedding party had so much fun taking pictures with her...even the groomsmen!
Her style definitely falls into the "photojournalism" category, but she was also more than happy to do the necessary "formal" shots with the family and the wedding party. But we never felt like we had to be posed. She just knew how to capture the natural emotion and essence of each setting. It was great!
Her prices are very reasonable compared to some of the other photography websites I visited when I began to plan my wedding.
All in all, I just can't say enough good things about my experience with Laurie Peacock. Great photographer, great person, fun to have around, reliable, professional, reasonably priced, beautiful pictures...I don't see how you could go wrong hiring her for your event!

We were very very lucky to have found Laurie when she responded to an ad of ours on the internet. From the very beginning, she was extremely professional and responded to emails quickly and efficiently. When we finally met her in person for the engagement shoot, we realized that not only is she super talented in photojournalism, her personality was perfect for the job. We clicked with her immediately, and she made us (especially my shyish fiance who was quite dubious on the whole idea of an engagement shoot) very comfortable. We joked around and laughed and had a lot of fun. We are just starting to get wedding photos back from her, and they are AMAZING, beautiful and captured the essence of our wedding and how much fun everyone was having. We are so happy we hired Laurie, who was not only wonderful to work with, but will give us wedding photos to last a life time.

Laurie is an absolute sweet heart. We clicked with her right away and after a fab engagement session (which she includes with all of her wedding packages) we knew we had made a great decision. Laurie was amazing during the wedding. My husband HATES taking pictures and she was so efficient and unobtrusive that he didn't get annoyed in the least. We were able to spend the majority of our time with our guests while still getting fabulous pics. I am blown away by our photos. Laurie was able to capture our happiness and excitement. I love photojournalism, but I sometimes feel that photographers get carried away with the artistry of the shot and forget about the emotion. Laurie captures the emotion while still creating gorgeous shots.

Laurie was absolutely fabulous to work with. We wanted someone with a photojournalistic style and were choosing between her, a big name company, and another professional photography studio that had been in the business for 10 years. We went with Laurie because her photographs showed her eye for detail and colors, and the quality in her photos. We also liked the idea of meeting the person who was going to actually shoot the wedding right from day one. Laurie was personable, friendly, and I could tell she was eager and excited to do a good job for us. We are so glad she won us over because I can say that this was the best money we spent for our wedding. We also did an engagement shoot with her, and she knew how to put us at ease in front of the camera. On the wedding day, she was easy-going and blended in, barely noticeable. She also had an amazing turn-around time with getting pictures to us despite shooting another wedding a day after, and then being in her own sister's wedding the weekend after ours. Every time I look at the photos, I get a huge smile on my face, and our family and guests have not stopped complimenting on what a great job she did. If you go with Laurie, you will not only love the photos she takes for you, but you'll love working with her too.

I had a wonderful time with Laurie on our wedding day. I first saw Laurie's posting on Craigslist and then I visited her website. I really liked her portfolios and I also learned a little bit about her photographic approach through her blog entries. I decided that Laurie's natural photo journalistic approach is what I was looking for.
Laurie was very attentive and accommodating before and on the big day. She wanted to know the things we considered important so she could make sure she capture them. She was also very friendly and very good at making my husband and I feel comfortable for the photos. We are incredible happy with the resulting photos. And this is because Laurie takes beautiful photos and also because I feel that they really reflect who we are.

We had a great engagement shoot she caputred our day like I could only have dreamed of. One day when we have a child she will definelty be the one to take the first pictures!!!
You can not go wrong with Laurie she will treat your day like it is her own!
Angie and Edgar.
Laurie is one of my favorite Chicago photographers! Her photos are amazing, and she manages to catch THE moments. My clients love her not only for her gorgeous work, but for her sweet, bubbly personality. If you are lucky enough to snag Laurie as your wedding photographer, rest assured that you are getting the best!
Laurie's photographic style is crisp, brilliant, & absolutely gorgeous! We worked on a mutual wedding together and the pictures she took were just breathtaking. Brides can really appreciate her attention to detail and her natural ability of capturing the moment!
Laurie and I have worked with mutual clients and she's great! Her photo's are beautiful! You can tell by her work that she pays attention to detail and captures the most intimate moments! I highly recommend her!
Laurie has this uncanny ability to put all of her clients at ease. Within minutes of meeting her, their sharing in her contagious laughter and feeling completely comfortable. I attribute this to her sincerity and care for her clients.
Her incredible personality comes with her talent and skill as a photographer. She's always after "that moment," and pushes herself each shoot to find compelling angles and beautiful light.

1.) What's your timeline for delivering photos, albums, DVDs, etc... after a wedding?
Within the first two weeks after your wedding, I'll blog your wedding highlights.
Within one month of the event, your photos will be online in a password-protected gallery where you and your friends and family can order prints.
Within two months of the event, you will receive the first proof of your wedding album design.
Within six months - providing you are quick to respond to approve your album design - you will receive your finished album and DVD of images.
2.) How does the album ordering and design process work?
I've found it simpler if I choose the initial photos and design the first album proof. Most couples don't want to have to sift through hundreds of photos in order to do this first step.
After the client suggests edits to the first draft (usually just swapping a couple photos out for ones that include another family member), I make the desired changes and show the final proof to the client for one more quick look.
Upon final client approval, I send the album to the album-making company. Should the client request additional edits after the second review, additional costs may accrue.
3.) How many photos will I receive from my wedding day?
You will receive at least 600 photos on a DVD, separated into folders such as "getting ready," "ceremony," "formal portraits," etc...
At least 20 of these photos will be retouched and given artistic edits (these are the photos that are posted on my blog).
4.) How does the print ordering process work?
All prints ordered through me are printed on the highest quality of photographic paper and receive retouching and the extra "oomph" I give to photos in which you see on my blog.
5.) Do you photograph formal family portraits during weddings?
While my style is more documentary, I view formal family portraits as an important historic record and should be handled with the utmost of care. At the same time, I want your family and guests to enjoy your wedding, so I handle formal portraits in the most time-efficient manner possible.
By receiving grouping lists from clients prior to their wedding and asking for a family member to be responsible for helping me gather people, together, we are able to achieve this task.
6.) What is a second photographer, and should I hire one?
A second photographer allows for more coverage of guests and different vantage points throughout the ceremony and reception. I work with "seconds" who are not only professional and talented, but who are also friendly without being pushy.
I strongly recommend booking a package with a second photographer if you have more than 100 guests.
The other bonus to having a second photographer is that should I become incapacitated on your wedding day - which means I'm in the hospital in a coma - the second photographer becomes the primary photographer.
7.) What happens if you can't attend the wedding?
You mean what happens if I'm in the hospital while in a coma? (I recognize your wedding day only happens once in a lifetime, therefore a little cold won't prevent me from making it to your wedding.) If you have a second photographer, they will become the primary photographer and will hire another second photographer.
If you don't have a second photographer, then I (or my appointed family member) will send out an alert to all of the Chicago wedding photography community that you are in DIRE need of a photographer. Believe it or not, Chicago wedding photographers are a pretty tight-knit group and love to help each other out. You will also be free to look for a photographer at the same time.
HOWEVER, knock on wood, you will never be in this kind of situation.
8.) Should I give you a list of poses and events I want covered during my wedding?
This isn't necessary. I'm pretty fast on my feet and know my way around events. You will most likely receive all of the shots you are hoping for, plus more.
The other problem with these types of lists is that it takes my attention away from capturing your unique story. You can't really look down at a list and notice what's going around you at the same time, right? True photojournalistic coverage requires an open mind to creatively see your wedding day in a new light.
9.) Are you available for destination weddings and engagements?
Yes! I love these. New locations completely inspire me. Please contact me and I will create a custom quote for you.
10.) I'm going to have a [Greek Orthodox, Jewish, Hindu, Jain, Mormon, Civil Commitment, etc...] wedding at a [temple, cathedral, boat, very dark restaurant, circus, etc...]. Have you shot one of those? Do you think you can photograph it and capture my important moments?
Yes! With my photojournalist skills, I can capture any event because I'm looking for emotion and listening to the ceremony for all of the important clues as to what makes a wedding special. Plus, I'm an avid learner of different cultures (after all, I have a political science degree specializing in international affairs), and will study and work with you prior to your ceremony so I am familiar with the meaning behind each action.
This zest for learning about new cultures and people also enables me to view weddings at venues I've already been to with fresh eyes. Every wedding is special.
What not to wear for a session
Here are just a few suggestions for what you should avoid or should wear to a photography session. Always feel free to bring props with you too.
Please, don’t wear:
solid white shirts, plaids/thick stripes men’s sandals
Please, do:
Feel free to bring a good mix of jeans, casual, and a dress If this is a family or engagement session you don’t have to match exactly, just be in the same color scheme Wear layers - they’re very flattering For men: a collared shirt, with or without jacket, jeans, trousers, cool shoes (no running shoes, but converse shoes are fine), or loafers For women: a fun jacket with colorful jewelry with a neat pattern underneath, cool jeans and high heels are very flattering too, flippy skirts/dresses The brighter, the better
