Gayle at Let Them Eat Cake was amazing!I was not excited about ordering a wedding cake until I talked to Gayle. I loved that she really wanted to know my vision and get it right. She did a few sketches, which she nailed right away! The cake turned out SO gorgeous and I got so many compliments on it. It tasted great as well.I would highly recommend her, she does really great work.

I had a grooms cake and wedding cake designed by Gayle from Let Them Eat Cake. Although I live in NYC, I was getting married in Portland, Maine and was a little nervous about the quality of vendors that would be available to me in Maine for the big day. I was excited to find Let Them Eat Cake, and was impressed with Gayle's professionalism during the process of designing my dream cakes. My grooms cake was going to be a surprise and I had asked Gayle to create a soccer theme cake with my husband's favorite team logos on it. I wanted my wedding cake to be fairly simple, and asked for Gayle to incorporate some of my wedding colors/flowers into it. I really didn't know what to expect, but was absolutely floored when I saw the cakes at our events! The grooms cake was beyond anything I could ever have imagined, and the wedding cake was stunning. My guests raved about them, and were in awe at how they were not only visually incredible, but were so delicious. I would highly recommend Let Them Eat Cake to anyone that is getting married in Maine, and am grateful that they were able to add to our wonderful wedding experience!

Finding a cake that looks amazing and captures the true personality of the couple while tasting phenomenal is a difficult task. There were so many beautiful cakes at the various bridal shows we attended, but when it came to taste they were all lacking. Not Gayle's cakes though. Know matter what flavor we tried (and we tried many thanks to her fabulous sampling that she sends you) they were all so delicious making it very hard to make a decision. We ended up with vanilla with stonewall blueberry jam and we got some many great reviews. The best reviews were about the design. Gayle took my unique cake topper (multi-level)and our ideas from our shower and wedding invitations, our flowers and turned our cake into something more beautiful than I could have imagined. I can't tell you how many times I heard "That is the most amazing cake I have ever seen" or "That cake is so creative and different and it's delicious." Gayle is an amazing person. So patient, kind, easy to work with, responsive, and reasonably priced for the amazing quality you receive. I would hire her again and again if I could.

Gayle from Let Them Eat Cake recently baked the wedding cake for my wedding and I cannot say enough good things! Gayle was extremely supportive through the design phase and implemented exactly what we had discussed- her attention to detail was amazing! The cake was also the most delicious wedding cake I have ever have. Our guests were all raving and the cake flew off the table- there were no slices left over. We had two different flavors- almond and blueberry torte with a buttercream frosting; both were absolutely delicious!

Gayle is a great cake designer! We looked through her gallery of cakes and had our cake made as a combo of 2 of her designs. The cake was gorgeous!! It was also delicious! We received comments on how the fondant wasn't like most and was so sweet and yummy and the cake was moist. Can't wait to eat it again in 1 year! Thanks, Gayle!

Gayle was amazing from the first contact until the wedding day. Planning the Maine wedding from New York was a challenge but the cake was never a concern. Gayle sent us samples to taste which were phenomenal. We eventually chose almond cake with a raspberry chambord filling. We also opted for fondant-which usually I find gross. Gayle's is by far the best fondant I've ever tasted. In terms of design I had very exact ideas and Gayle improved on them. Our cake was absolutely stunning and I heard from many wedding guests that it was the most beautiful they had ever seen. Our flowers were all blue hydrangeas and the top of the cake has these crafted out of sugar paste-incredibly real looking! While not cheap, Gayle's prices fairly reflect her caliber of service. I cannot recommend Gayle highly enough.

I can't even begin to tell you how utterly AMAZING our cake was! I asked Gayle to design the cake after my dress. I CANNOT believe how much Gayle captured the true beauty of my dress. I am, to this moment, still speechless over it.Gayle, if you read this...thank you from the bottom of my heart!

From initial contact with Gayle at Let Them Eat Cake, in Kennebunk, ME, we were pleasantly surprised! Of all the vendors we worked with, she was by far the most responsive, professional and easy to work with. We live in Manchester, NH and she's quite a distance from where we live, but our wedding was in Portsmouth, NH, which was an area she serviced. We weren't sure how the process would work with her, but after the initial phone consultation, she packaged cake, frosting and fondant samples and mailed them to us!! Two days later we were tasting cake we received in the mail....and it was by far the best cake we ever ate!!! Gayle is creative and communicates her design ideas well. She offers multiple sketches of cakes and design ideas and she took the guess work out of wondering what it would look like. The final product was glorious..!! It was beautiful, a true piece of art which was the best tasting piece of art I've ever had!! Delicious and beautiful...!! Gayle at Let Them Eat Cake prepared a delicious and beautiful cake for my July wedding. Gayle was extremely helpful throughout the entire process - selection, design, delivery, etc. Before even sending her a deposit, she mailed my husband and I a ton of delicious cake samples to try. She is extremely organized and computer savy and it shows. Being from Massachusetts, it was difficult to meet with Gayle in person. However, she kept me on track with the timeline, which was very helpful. I was most impressed by the phone conference in which we designed the cake. I sent her a sample photo of a cake that I liked, but had wanted to add my own personal style to it. By the end of the conversation, she had emailed me a scanned drawing of exactly what I was looking for. The drawing was actually so fabulous that I have it framed in my living room! Delivery and payment went very smoothly, and the cake was probably the least stressful part of the entire wedding. We had decided on three and a half tiers- alternating Maine Blueberry Torte with Raspberry Chamborde Torte. We had compliments all night about the cake - about how it beautiful it looked, how delicious it was, etc. I would certainly recommend Let Them Eat Cake from Kennebunkport for any bride and groom in the area!

Gayle made a wedding cake for us this past weekend and I was absolutely astounded at how incredibly GORGEOUS and delicious the cake was. It far exceeded by expectations. All of our guests have been talking for days about how beautiful it was and how they wish they could have taken home an extra piece! Gayle had such a great feel for the theme of our wedding and the "vintage romance" vibe was very much reflected in the cake that she baked and designed so perfectly. Her website also has updated photos of all of her designs. Our is on there too! She also was so flexible with our needs, even up until the final days. Gayle is unbelievable to work with and creates the most delicious cake! We had a beautiful wedding in Kennebunkport, and wanted a fun and whimsical theme. She created a wonderful white cake with blueberry filling that all the guests raved about, topped with two lobsters! The "groom" had a cigar, and the "bride" was carriying a pink blackberry! She totally listened to our thoughts, and used her creative talents to create a cake that was darling, humorus and of course, delicious! She gets 5 stars from us!

Gayle was incredible to work with and our cake was fabulous! We designed it over the phone with her and the finished product was better than we could have imagined. She was great to work with from a distance - she even ships samples by mail so you can taste all her wonderful creations. We knew we wanted red velvet cake but almost changed our mind after tasting some of her combinations. Our guests said it was the best wedding cake - and the biggest pieces - they had ever had. We were even left with the entire top tier as a bonus; Gayle added it on for free! I can't wait to get it out of the freezer and enjoy!

Gayle (the owner) is amazing! She loves the creative process so if you want to customize a cake that matches your wedding theme (and is DELICIOUS), she is the perfect person to work with. She provides you with a website where you can get ideas if you need some. I sent her my inspiration board and she created 5-6 sketches of different ideas that I could pick from. The cake was gorgeous and really yummy. We did half coconut and half raspberry and both were delicious. I loved working with Gayle and would highly recommend her!

Gayle is absolutely amazing!!! The cake was not only beautiful but probably one of the best tasting cakes I have ever had. All communication was done through e-mail, and I really wish I could have met with Gayle so I could have seen examples in person prior to wedding day. The cake was DELICIOUS and her mailing of the samples was very convienent. I tried to scale back on price by having a small 2 tiered cake and serving "kitchen cake" to guests, but still found the price to be high.

Gayle bakes a variety of cakes that are to die for. We were blown away by the almond white cake and knew our guests would as well. Her cake and frosting is delicious without being sickeningly sweet. But that is only half the story. He true talent is her artwork and vision for the cakes she designs. We had a phone meeting and she paid attention to what we wanted for our cake. She produced a breathtakingly gorgeous cake that had unbelievable detail. We can't get over how beautiful and delicious our cake was. Don't hesitate to book her, her cakes are second to none!

Gayle was awesome to work wirh, we had very specific ideas about how we wanted the flower decorations to look, and she pulled it off beautifully! Some of the flowers were tricky and time-consuming, and she went above and beyond to meet (and exceed) our expectations and vision for the cake. Our cake was amazing!! we got so many comments on it. we like to hike and camp and are total outside people and Gayle took what we talked about on the phone and created a masterpiece. i found the perfect "hiking couple" cake topper and it just complemented the cake even more. The cake tasted so good to, some people had 2 pieces when the realized that there were left overs. we were not sure if the whole cake would get eaten so Gayle made us a 2nd cake top so that we could freeze it and eat it on our year anniversary. Gayle was so accomodating to us right from the time I contacted her about making the wedding cake. A small deposit guaranteed the date for us 6 months in advance. Her web site contains so much information about her cake business, including fabulous photeo, varities of cake flavors, shapes, sizes, prices, and even a very interesting video of her preparing and decorating her works of art. She sent the bride and groom samples of all of the cake and filling flavors to choose from. We met at her home to discuss all of the details of the brides wishes, and signed a contract. Gayle was willing and able to produce a marvelous replica from a photo the bride found in a magazine. This 4 tiered msterpiece included pillars,and the placement of cascading orchids all around the cake. The day before the wedding, I frantically called Gayle to say that the florist had gotten in white orchids instead of the requested pink color. Within 5 minutes, Gayle called me back to say that she had located sprays of the correct color orchids, and had e-mailed me photos from that florist for me to approve. She arranged to pick them up herself on her way to delivering the cake to the reception the next day. The pink orchids, which matched the bride's wedding sari perfectly, were a lovely contrast to the cream colored cake. The raspberry chamboard flavor of the cake and filling was delicious. The size she recommended was perfect for the 200 guests, with some extra slices for us to bring home along with the cake top to freeze for the Bride's 1st Anniversary. Deliciously delicious! And gorgeous! Gayle drew inspiration from our seaside themed wedding and from photos of my sculptures to craft a cake that was uniquely ours!! Guests first commented on how beautiful it was and second on how scrumptious it was! We have one slice left and cannot wait to devour it!

She ships samples to out-of-town couples so you can do your tasting at home, and the flavor choices are delicious! Last year when I was planning for my wedding, Let them Eat Cake was one of the vendors recommend by the York Harbor Inn in Maine. I had visited the Inn when they were having a wedding and saw one of the cakes Gayle (the owner) had designed. After seeing that and her web site, I knew she had to be the one to do my cake; I didn't need to look anywhere else. I was so impressed with her details in her cakes and the designs. She was always available either by e-mail or the phone and very flexible; I had just had a baby in December and she was willing to work with my schedule to talk about my wedding cake and what worked for me. She sends samples to your home (very tasty and fresh!!!! it was hard to choose a flavor!!!), so in your leisure you could have the samples and decide what you wanted for your cake. I was even more impressed by her because she caters to allergies (mine being tree nuts) which is hard to find! I love how she designs her own cake from an application on the computer and does it over the phone! You never have to worry about making an appointment during the usual 9-5 when everyone works. I got some ideas from her website and from some other wedding cake sites for my cake and when it came down to designing my own, Gayle is an artistic genius! My cake design had all the elements I wanted and more! She made the design on paper come to life and on my wedding day it was nothing short of amazing and extremely yummy! Every bride wishes for the perfect wedding day and Gayle helped make that happen for me!

I have never really liked cake. However, I went to an event at Union Bluff in Maine and part of it was cake tasting. I knew we were using Gayle Forte from Let them eat cake so I decided I should at least try the cake we would be serving our guests at our wedding. I tried it, and not only did I eat my cake, but when my fiance got up to go get a drink, I ate his piece as well. It was so delicious! Almond buttercream... to die for. We also had a layer of red velvet which my husband loved ( I didnt get a chance to try it, but he said it was amazing and he is quite a red velvet lover).My cake was also BEAUTIFUL. Gayle was completely amazing and professional. We had a specific idea in mind and she just cpatured the essence of our dream. She isnt a big bakery that doesnt know her clients she works right from her private kitchen designed for her to make cakes. Our cake was so reasonable I was shocked! I loved my wedding cake! And it was the least stressful part of planning. I am based out of Boston and we had the wedding at my mothers home in Maine. I am so glad that I worked with Gayle. She sent me cake samples in the mail. (which were good but do not even compare to how yummy the actual cake is)And then we did all of the design work over the phone using her web design site. It really worked out great for me and saved me so much time driving up for meetings. She was great to work with and help work with you to design your dream cake. Let Them Eat Cake did an amazing customized cake for our August 2010 Kennebunk, ME wedding. We live in Boston so contacting vendors in Kennebunk and evaluating them to make decisions proved to be a little difficult during such a busy time. Gayle Forte at LTEC was amazing in her response time and attention to detail. We didn't even have to go in for a tasting! All the flavor samples for the cake, icing, and fondant were sent to us via priority mail.The LTEC website shows extensive examples of the designs and customizations they're capable of. After reviewing countless examples we decided on a three layer basket weave cake design with fresh blueberries between each layer. We then scheduled a phone call with Gayle where she actually sketched our cake design in a PDF and sent it us for approval.All in all the process was so easy - and the cake was beautiful and delicious. From start to finish Gayle Forte (Let Them Eat Cake) was extremely helpful, friendly and professional in designing and creating our wedding cake. I had first met Gayle at the York, Maine Wedding Fair and after trying some of her cake samples at the fair I knew I wanted her to make our cake. For those that do not live near her location in Kennebunk she makes the entire process super easy. She was able to mail us all of her cake samples to taste (various flavors and fillings and a sample of her hand made rolled fondant). When they arrived they were well packaged and tasted very fresh and delicious. Once we decided on a flavor and filling, we were able to design our cake together over the phone and via her website, again this was incredibly helpful since we live 2.5 hours away in Boston. As we discussed the design details over the phone she was immediately able to sketch out the "sample cake" and email to me for approval. Her ideas and suggestions were very good. It usually took Gayle about 1 -2 days to respond to my emails (which for a baker is pretty good - since they are not at their computer all day). Our wedding cake arrived on time at our venue and was gorgeous and it tasted amazing! We received so many compliments on our wedding cake both in the presentation and the taste. The top tier which we saved for our anniversary was huge. We ended up eating it all week long after our wedding, brought some down to our friends in NY that were unable to come to the wedding and still had some left over to place in the freezer. I highly recommend Gayle! I will definitely go back to her again and have her make an anniversary cake for us. :-)

Everything about our cake was perfect! It was a blast to get our samples in the mail and pick out our favorite flavor together and then when it came down to making the cake exactly the way I wanted it, Gayle was able to produce the most perfect cake for us and our wedding! It truly couldn't have been better.

Gayle from Let Them Eat Cake was a dream to work with. My husband and I found a cake that we wanted in a magazine, sent it to her, and we worked with her to make it our "own". It was the most beautiful cake I have ever seen, and it was delicious. We had so many guests come up to us and say it was the best tasting wedding cake they had ever had. This was one of the best cakes I have ever had! Let Them Eat Cake made us a red velvet cake with buttercream frosting for our wedding. The cake was moist and the frosting was perfect! She made the most realistic looking seashells out of frosting. Our guests told us after the wedding the cake was not only beautiful, but wicked good to eat!

AMAZING CAKE. I am not one to really enjoy wedding cake, or birthday cake, it is just one of those things you have to push through and do for the sake of the event holder. The cake was actually one of those things that I didnt care much about, until I tried Let Them Eat Cake. A little on the pricey side, but SOOOOO gourmet!

We became engaged in late November and were married January 2nd, giving very little notice to the Vendor. Gayle exceeded our expectations and the cake was both beautiful and delicious. She handcrafted icing snowflakes for the cake and gave it a personal touch inspired by our theme. I highly recommend Let Them Eat Cake for your wedding.

As much as blasted the Eastland for their LACK of professionalism, Gayle Forte from Let Them Eat Cake was simply amazing. Kris and I met her at the bridal show sponsored by the Eastland in early December. Her presentation was perfect. She had no fewer than 10 examples of actual wedding cakes for us to see an example of her work along with packaged cake samples. We explained what we were looking for, a snowy theme with snowmen as toppers that looked like the snowmen on our invitation. She said that she needed to look at it but probably could make them. She was more than happy to make our cake on short notice too. We left our name and address for her and she sent us more cake samples for us to choose from. We got the samples in the mail about 5 days later. We quickly decided on chocolate and toasted coconut. In the weeks that followed we communicated with her from Texas, over email and by phone and nailed down our design intent and color. Twice she sketched out a concept and emailed it to me so we had an idea of what she was thinking as well. This helped tremendously with our decision making. We decided on a 2 and a half tier cake with the snow people topper. Basically bride and groom snowmen! Cost was reasonable.The week before the wedding we arrived in Maine and started calling our vendors. I called Gayle and literally, she sounded so excited over the phone about the cake topper. She had just made it and was thrilled with how they had turned out. I took this as a good sign. We confirmed the time she would drop it off and I asked if she would email a picture of it. The night before the wedding, when the cake had been completed, she emailed us a picture of it. I couldn't believe it! I was so excited to see this cake. Kris and I didn't show anyone else of course. As advertised, she delivered it the next day when Kris and I were doing our respective preparations for the ceremony. After the reception, my parents took the cake top and topper home to store in their freezer over the next year while I am in Iraq and hubby is in Honduras. My mom is working with Gayle who is helping to restore the topper that the hotel staff ruined while cramming it into a box. She even told my mom how to wrap it and save it. She is awesome!

Let Them Eat Cake was attentive to my interest of how my cake looked and was incredibly creative. I personally wanted a cake to have simple elegance with hints of my dress incoorporated. I got all of the above with a wonderfully beautiful sugar broach that was the focus on the top layer. The cake was more than I could have ever imagined and more than that it tasted amazing! With so many flavors to choose from it was difficult to narrow them down to 3 flavors however with chocolate, raspberry chamborde torte and red velvet we believed we made the best choices! There was a taste for everyone and we still get compliments regarding how beautiful our cake was. Thank you Let Them Eat Cake and Gayle Forte for giving us the cake of our dreams! Gayle was wonderful to work with. She sent us samples of cake to our home in Chicago, which tasted great. We described what we were looking for, she sent us a sketch that was perfect. When we saw it in person, it was so pretty! Above all else, it was the best tasting cake ever (chocolate with the raspberry and fondant icing) and people wanted seconds - that never happens with wedding cakes!

Gayle Forte of Let Them Eat Cake did an amazing job with our cake! It was beautiful and delicious. She designed a pattern what worked perfectly with our venue and wedding theme. She also worked with Kate of Katherine's Garden (York, ME) to add fresh flowers. We took advantage of a value package by Clay Hill Farm (York, ME) which made the cake very affordable.

My husband was floored that all the little extra touches that were already included in the price per slice. We loved that! Our guests were blown away by all the candy shells that were hand made, and each one had such great detail. It was exactly what we had wanted. Simple, elegant, theme oriented, and tasted great! It was moist and delicious. I work weddings for a living and have seen and tasted many wedding cakes, so I am a good judge of character when it comes to the quality of wedding cakes. I was recommended to Gayle from my sister-in-law who had a really great experience working with her for her wedding cake. Gayle was absolutely amazing, low maintenance, easy to get a hold off, beautiful cake designs and very professional. My fiance and I were faced with a dilemma when the bakery we had chosen to create our wedding cake went out of business about three weeks prior to our wedding date. The photographs of Gayle's cakes speak for themselves, but we couldn't have been happier with the gorgeous cake she made us. We chose a basic vanilla almond cake with buttercream frosting, however she offers a great variety of flavors. The taste and presentation was just what we were looking for, simple classic elegance! The cake was not only beautiful but delicious. Hands down she is the BEST there is!!! I wouldn't have gone anywhere else!!!!! She sends you these samples to your door that are to die for!!!! there are so many choices and she designed my cake WITH me. I got exactly what I wanted. She was very good!!! Decent priced too!!! Working with Gayle was wonderful. I also had a destination wedding and was referred to Let Them Eat Cake by my wedding venue. I was a little nervous planning my wedding cake from out of state, but I was provided with cake samples to my door and emailed all sorts of designs/colors/themes to choose from. I also had a phone consultation with Gayle to talk about what I'd like for a design. She sketched it and emailed it to me right while I was on the phone! It was such an easy process. The cake turned out exactly as I had imagined! Not only was it beautiful...it was delicious!! (White Almond Cake with Strawberry Grand Marnier filling) I would recommend any bride get her cake here. You won't be disappointed.

We loved our wedding cake! Gayle was so great to work with and we couldn't have been happier. I gave Gayle the colors and theme of our wedding, and she came up with several designs for us to choose from. She is so talented and creative. The cake tasted as great as it looked too. I had several people tell me that it was the best wedding cake they had ever had. We went with her Stonewall Kitchen blueberry filling which was delicious and so perfect for our Maine wedding.

She has a great system so that out-of-town brides can have tons of input on the design without being able to meet in person. Gayle, from Let Them Eat Cake, is very talented and helpful. We had no idea about anything as far as wedding cakes go, but Gayle made it extremely easy. She has a very comprehensive website and ordering process, that is virtually foolproof. We had a basic idea as to what we wanted our cake to look like, but Gayle worked with us and turned our average idea into an absoultely stunning cake! It is very impressive! ....Not to mention the cake was absolutely delicious!! We had several comments from guests about not only how great the cake looked, but also they actually ate it! (I guess we all have been to a wedding or two in which the cake looked very nice, but tasted very blah.)

Gayle Forte runs Let them eat cake out of her home in Kennebunkport, ME. I had one of her cakes at a friends wedding last year, and knew we HAD to have the same cake.
She is very business like in emails and on the phone, which to me was a little intimidating since I didnt really know what I wanted. I told her our colors, and our preference for butter cream, and she emailed me three sketches within an hour of things she thought we may like.
I was very pleased with her service, and the cake was AMAZING. White cake with almond extract and a rasberry filling. Ive had 'so-so' wedding cake in the past, but THIS is no so-so wedding cake. Shes an amazing baker and an amazing designer.
