Fran was so wonderful to work with! I feel like she is a dear friend, even though I haven't met her, but she was a very important part of our wedding planning process from the very beginning!
We hired Fran to create artwork for our save-the-dates, invitations and programs and a custom monogram for us. She also addressed our wedding invitations.
Everything was beautiful! Her work speaks for itself. We were able to use her artwork to DIY our wedding correspondence, which made it special, unique and very "us."
And I can't even talk about how GORGEOUS her invitation addressing was! I had friends and family call the minute they received the invitations to gush about how lovely they were! Her work really made them stand out. So worth it!
Fran is everything you want out of a wedding vendor: so easy to communicate with (all of our work was done via email), very responsive, detail-oriented, quick, kind and so willing to help. She made each of our projects feel important and it was always a pleasure to email back and forth with her.
Thank you, Fran!

Fran did a FANTASTIC job hand-lettering our invitations--both inner and outer envelopes. She also did our table number signs and escort cards. I knew from seeing her work that she was remarkable, but when I received our invitations, I was stunned. They were beautiful! She is very, very easy to work with. Booking and working with her was one of the easiest and the least-stressful part of planning a beautiful wedding!

I used Little Flower Calligraphy for my wedding invitations, name cards, and table numbers with great results. I was able to choose from several different calligraphy styles, and Fran was both creative and helpful in choosing coordinating paper styles. Everything was completed ahead of schedule, and she was very accomodating for a number of last minutes additions. I would highly recommend Little Flower.

FAQ for Little Flower Calligraphy
Yes, I am happy to provide samples; just email me and I will send you more of my work either through an email scanned image or through regular mail so you can see it 'in person'! There is no charge for samples.
How do I proceed if I want to have you do work for me?
Email me or call to discuss your project needs. It is helpful to get on my schedule as soon as you know, as I have had to turn down brides during busy seasons when I am heavily booked. At this time, I do not require a deposit. You will choose a writing style, and I will get some other details of how you want your project finished, and I will scan you an image of an envelope or a draft of a custom project to get your approval before I proceed. For local clients, you can pick up the order and pay with a check or cash; for non-local clients, I will complete the transaction through my online shop at etsy.com, where you can pay through paypal, then I ship when the transaction is completed.
Some helpful things to know when considering calligraphy:
*The list of addresses or the text of a poem, invite, etc. is the tool calligraphers work from, and it is important that this be submitted to the calligrapher in a neat, easily readable format. Each calligrapher has a preference of how they would like the lists completed; complying with this preference will insure the fastest and most accurate project results.
*As an artist, trust the calligrapher's instincts. My goal is to make each and every envelope look its best, and sometimes this may mean varying some part of the work to make an address fit. Some styles of writing or layout are more suited to certain envelopes, so be open to the calligrapher's advice and experience.
*Hand lettering is an art that can add a very special look to your event accessories. It is important to remember that it is an art, and not the precise look of digital printing. Clients should expect quality, beautiful results, but bear in mind that some slight variations are simply a reflection of the art form.
*I request 20% and at least 15% extra envelopes. I only use the traditional dip pen and ink method to insure waterproof results, but this method does lend itself to inevitable blotches and smears. Many of the popular papers used by brides today (metallic, handmade), are challenging surfaces to write on. Some of the finer papers present tiny fibers that get caught in the pen point, or the pen point 'catches' in the textured surfaces, spraying ink. The extra envelopes make a calligrapher more relaxed overall, and a relaxed calligrapher is the best calligrapher! Also, I have never had a bride not have last minute additions, sometimes a dozen or more added guests, so those extra envelopes are sure to come in handy.
*Calligraphy is not in everyone's budget, and I am the first to advise brides to watch the budget carefully; I remind them that the wedding is one very special day, but it is still only one day, and all the days that come after are more important! The marriage is much more important than the wedding, and going into marriage in debt over the wedding isn't a very healthy start. To cut down costs but still have some personal touches, add a little hand lettering here and there. A sign on each table, a monogram done once from a calligrapher that a printer (or computer savvy bride!) can transfer to other printed materials, even some envelopes to the most special people on your list but not everyone, having just the names on your invitation done in calligraphy adn the rest digitally typed, the cover of the program hand lettered then the inside info printed - there are numerous ways to scale back but still have the classy touch of calligraphy. I am always happy to work with brides to do whatever I can to help them include my work into their day whatever their budget.
