The venue is so beautiful! It is so breathtaking! The people were so helpful during the planning. Sara (special even coordinator) is just a blessing! She will do everything for you. We had an amazing food tasting and were sure the food would be a hit. However, during actual dinner at the wedding they served a different salad from what we picked and the entrees were modified too. Our bridal party was all vegan, and their entrees were missing main ingredients - tofu and eggplant. It was more like a side dish, not a main course. It was not what we ordered. Kind of sad. I sent them an email asking for an explanation, but never heard back. Otherwise, the venue is just wonderful, so beautiful and our wedding was so gorgeous.
We searched everywhere for the perfect venue for our wedding. The second I stepped into LBMA - I had a feeling that this was going to be the place. LBMA is a venue with so much character. It's not just a usual venue overlooking the ocean. It has a real unique feel about it but at the same time, it was a blank slate that you can do anything in the venue to make it "your wedding". For us, it was such a romantic, intimate setting that really set the mood for our wedding. The views are amazing and the whether you do an indoor or outdoor wedding, you do not have to do much to make it look spectacular because of the venue. The food was great. Sara is such a sweetheart. She was a little hard to get in touch with because she does all the events at the museum and always busy but once you get her, she is the biggest sweetheart and will get things done. We had 63 people at our wedding and this place was perfect.
We had a beautiful ceremony & reception at the LBMA. The staff was great to work with, the food was delicious and the view of the ocean was breathtaking. Besides the museum and the fountain, the venue is a blank canvas that you can run with. If you are looking for a venue in Long Beach, I highly recommend the LBMA.
We love the contemporary arts at this museum. Very nice to visit.
This venue is so breathtaking. Even though it’s a museum, it seemed like we were in someone’s backyard. The museum is actually a historic mansion, so it had more of a home feel, rather than a museum feel. We were so excited that we were going to have an outdoor wedding overlooking the ocean. We had the chance of rain that day so we had to go with a clear tent. It was still perfect and beautiful. Things to consider here: They are strict with rules since they are a museum and a historic site. There is a noise ordinance so events must end by 10pm. This was not a problem for us since we had an after party at the hotel lobby bar. Second, you can only host a soft bar. The museum does not hold a liquor license, but that did not stop our friends from getting tipsy. They do have an alternative soju bar, which we opted for. There is an on site wedding coordinator, Hazel, who is wonderful, but you can also use your own. Overall we were very pleased, because although it was a museum, it had a very homey intimate feel.
We had our wedding at the LBMA last year. The venue is beautiful. It's on a little bluff overlooking the ocean and the Queen Mary. We don't regret our decision to have our wedding here, but we do have a few thoughts to share for anyone who might be considering this venue for their wedding.
Pros: The venue is wonderful. It definitely has a homey feel and the location is great. We had a lot of out of town guests and there was plenty for them to do in the area. The food was spectacular, everyone raved. Martin did a great job. Sara, the special events coordinator, was wonderful. Very sweet.
Cons: However, as others have stated, it's hard to get a hold of someone to get your questions answered in any timely fashion. If you are a bride planning your wedding on your own, you may find this frustrating. As questions may go unanswered for months at a time even with multiple emails and phone calls. I think they are just severely understaffed. i started getting timely responses to my emails and questions about 2 weeks prior to our wedding. My biggest tip is to have all of your questions ready during your face to face meetings because that's where you'll get them answered.
I absolutely LOVED this venue!!!! It has a gorgeous view of the ocean, an interesting museum, a great menu, and a gorgeous historic building. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly (unlike someplaces we visited). I can't imagine having my wedding anyplace else. The grass area outside is really nice because you can really go any style you want--gardeny, modern, chic, elegant--it is kind of an fresh canvas. I also was really happy to choose a venue where I am supporting the arts and a museum.
