I have always wanted to get married in Charleston and when I visited this venue it had the true charm of the historical low country. The venue is sitting right on the river with huge Live Oaks and moss hanging from the branches. It has a totally sophisticaed and romantic feel about it. We had our ceremony early in the day so our reception was very low key and intimate.
I enjoyed the staff of PPHG but they were usually very hard to get in touch with--I sent emails that weren't answered until a week later and left phone messages that weren't returned. I usually had to call again to speak with someone. My planner had the same issue with getting in contact.
We served a huge southern brunch that all of our guests loved. The appetizers were absolutely delicioius(Shrimp and grits, fried green tomatoes, crab cakes, and pear brie) We served eggs benedict for our egg dish and that was the only thing I had a problem with. They were hard and cold... you could tell they had been sitting for a while before they were served. The wait staff that worked the day of was great-- friendly and polite.

Lowndes Grove is a beautiful venue! Truly stunning setting in easy downtown location. We loved getting married at Lowndes Grove. The views, grounds, house - everything was perfect. The PPHG staff is great - very helpful. We had our ceremony on the front lawn as the sun was setting. Then went into the house and tent for dinner and drinks. Everyone could not stop talking about how beautiful the setting was. We love Lowndes Grove!

Lowndes Grove sells itself as a venue, but what they don't sell well enough is their ability to customize their catering to be EXACTLY what you want, and more. I wanted a unique but flowing menu of spanish/mexican cuisine (for no real reason other than I love it)... and they absolutely nailed every dish. They customized dishes that already existed, and made up new ones to supplement where my choices were lacking. My mom wanted shrimp and grits which didn't fit my menu, so they spiced it up and changed it to fit into my theme. They customized blended mixed drinks that my mom wanted as well, which people literally fought over. They even nailed my favorite grilled corn recipe from a cuban place in New York. Absolute perfection.
The girls to work with (Shannon, Amber) and everyone else were extremely pleasant, professional and as accommodating as they could have been!
