Reviews for Lucky Paperie
I ordered and paid for samples. 6 weeks ago. No samples. No response to my emails or call.
I've already chosen my invites so I basically made a $10 donation to Lucky Paperie....
Update: after 3 or 4 attempts at contact: They responded. They apologized and said they'd refund the money.
What I got was the 3 samples I ordered rather than the refund they said they'd give me. Long after I found a vendor.... completely useless (I really liked 1 sample. If they'd have sent it sooner, I might have chosen them)
The invitations were the most frustrating part of the entire process. Since I am a designer, I had designed the invitations myself and just needed to find a letterpress printer to print them. I chose to go with Lucky Paperie because of their close proximity to my house and their work looked good. The owner seemed really scatter-brained and unprofessional whenever I had to contact her about getting envelopes or when the invites were expected. The invitations were late coming in and were printed wrong. The color was way too dark on the invite but looked right on the response card. She said she would have those reprinted within 2 days. After we got home, we realized they had printed the return address on the INNER envelopes and left the outers blank. So we ended up having to get those reprinted too. They ended up not being ready within the two days she had promised. We didn't even get the invites until a full week later and she was full of excuses as to why they weren't done. DH made lots of trips to the studio and phone calls to check up on them, but they were always unorganized and gave him the runaround. The invitations were late going out and were printed on a lighter stock of paper than the original invitations. The color didn't seem that much lighter either. I would not recommend them unless you allow A LOT of time for them to correct mistakes. In hindsight, I probably should have gone with another printer that had a better quote but was much further away or just printed them myself since I had access to a letterpress printer.
The invitations were the worst part of my entire wedding experience. Meeting with the owner and her staff was very disappointing...On more than one occasion, i received a phone call about SOMEONE ELSE's order. My proofs were always wrong and my reply postcards did not fit in the envelopes. I had to cut each one, by hand. It was awful. My programs were never laid out (after weeks of asking) and 7 days before the wedding, the owner e-mails me and says "is this approved" and literally, all that it had on it were our names...AWFUL. no matter how cute their store is and no matter how nice their designs are, go elsewhere...awful experience
This place drove me nuts! I should've known when I first sat down with heir so called "desiger" it wasn't a professional place but I liked the look of the invitations and it was a cute little store. Don't be deceived by the looks! Working with them was a nightmare! My wedding date is only 6 weeks away and I still don't have my invitations. They messed up on the response card by putting the wrong wording. The paper is not the same as I requested. I requested inner and outer envelopes only to be told a few days ago that for the invitation size I requested (square) they don't have matching envelopes. The quality of the envelope is really crappy and does not match the invitation at all. They told me they would be ready on a certain day, I drove there and was told to come back after 2 hours and then was told they didnt have them right. They are not cheap either! I also used Laura Hooper for the calligraphy and am being charged a RUSH fee for her services because the owner of Lucky have her the envelopes today. If I could give them negative stars I would.
Thank you Melanie and Lucky Paperie for beautiful custom designed items for my wedding/reception (programs, menu cards, table signs)! In addition, I had a bit of a "disaster" with the envelopes for my CD favors - Melanie came through with replacements that were 120% on point with the overall theme/style - within DAYS of our wedding.
If you are the type who needs to have everything in hand WEEKS before the event, her laid back style may give you a few restless moments - Be specific and prepared to communicate clearly your expectations, and take the time to truly read over the proofs (many people make the mistake of thinking this is the responibility of the vendor).
All in all - I highly recommend Lucky Paperie for their ability to "grasp" a concept and run with it - and the final product is FABULOUS!
The only thing stressful about our wedding was the invitations from Lucky Paperie! I really liked Melanie when I met her. The shop is so cute and the designs were great. However, her unprofessional behavior and lack of follow through made working with her a terrible experience. It baffles me why someone with no attention to detail or concept of time management would go into the stationery business.
cons:
-every deadline was missed. There were so many typos that neither Melanie nor her staff caught. After we accepted our initial proof, she then printed out the wrong copy with the original reply deadline which had passed 2 weeks earlier. I guess they don't proof read their orders, and when I expressed my frustration, I was asked why I hadn't checked the invitations better when I picked them up! Apparently it's the client's job to proof not theirs. Additionally, we were given different numbers of envelopes, invitations and reply cards in addition to invitations that were missing the background card that we paid for.
-dishonest. The invitations were so late that we had to fed ex our invitations to our guests overseas which Melanie offered to reimburse us for. We sent her the bill which she never paid, and she never responded to any of our emails or phone calls. She has now closed her shop and moved to atlanta without giving any notice to her clientele. I am writing this to help prevent someone else from making the same mistake of working with her. Save yourself a lot of headache and choose another stationer!
If you are thinking of using Lucky Paperie, PLEASE pay attention to all the negative reviews online and the terrible Better Business Bureau ranking. I know the designs are pretty online, but they are a nightmare to work with. To the only reviewer who left a positive review saying that if you need your items "weeks" ahead of time Lucky Paperie may not be for you: My wedding took place weeks ago and I STILL haven't received all of my order.
Melanie at Lucky Paperie sent our order to print without us approving the proof, missed every deadline, printed in the wrong colors, sent us the wrong envelopes twice, made design changes without approval because it was cheaper fom her, repeatedly tried to substitute flat printing for our letterpress order, didn't respond to emails or phone calls for weeks at a time.
In addition, when things did arrive (too late to reprint), they were the wrong colour, the letterpress was crooked, there were large white streaks due to uneven pressing (stripes almost an inch wide through the pattern on our 3x5 reply cards). Many of our reply cards were unusable, and a significant percentage of the belly bands were actually just blank squares, or were so smeared they were unusable. We spent thousands of dollars fixing the mess we received from Lucky Paperie at the last minute, then had to rush order our programs, menus, etc from another vendor because we knew Lucky Paperie would never get them to us with the correct text or on time.
I kept giving them the benefit of the doubt, and was always very understanding when they made mistakes, but it didn't matter--I received story after story about how items had been shipped but for one reason or another they couldn't provide valid tracking numbers. In the end, our invitations went out the same day as the "reply by date" printed on the rsvp card!
These people should not be running a business.
In Summary:
-Missed every deadline
-Poor quality letterpress
-Printed in wrong colors
-Terrible attitude, very unprofessional
-Some items still not received 3 weeks after wedding
Total nightmare!
Lucky Paperie was an absolute dream to work with! They executed my design vision perfectly and created absolutely gorgeous invitations, menus, programs, table name cards and escort cards for us! Melanie, the designer, is wonderful to work with, and their colors and paper products are beautiful. I HIGHLY recommend Lucky Paperie for your wedding paper needs!
The most original and creative Invitations I have ever seen. Lucky Paperie was able to custom everything to my likely!! They are the best!!!
