SPENCER!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, Spencer was one of the best parts of our wedding planning process. He is not only a complete joy to work with, but he is practical, calm, and very responsive. Everything from Main Event was flawless. The food was incredible, and the service was top-notch--just as good as any elite restaurant downtown. We had many people comment after the wedding that they loved our food. Main Event also let us purchase our own alcohol, which allowed us to save money and customize the bar to suit our guests' tastes. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. I am SO glad we booked with Main Event, and doubly-glad that we got to work with Spencer.

We are SO relieved we went with Main Event Catering for our wedding. The pricepoint was higher than we originally hoped to spend, but it was worth every penny and then some. Rachael was so sweet and so helpful throughout the planning process and the food/ service/ quality of everything was just amazing. My husband and I were so well attended to during the reception, and all of my guests have raved about the food, service and presentation. We feel this was one of the best decisions we made in our wedding planning process- I'd recommend to brides everywhere to cut their budget elsewhere if they have any hesitation about the price... so, so worth it. Ask for Rachael Slockett- she was so responsive to the many, many emails we sent her way and super flexible and accommodating to our requests.

Michelle and her team at Main Event are absolutely incredible - I do not even know where to start! The food was the best wedding food we and everyone else at the wedding according to the rave reviews had ever had!!!! The menu was completely customized based on our likes and dislikes and every single thing from the passed apps to the main course was cooked to perfection. The presentation was stunning and everything looked and tasted like it came straight from a 5 star restaurant's kitchen. In regards to decor, Michelle was on top of every little detail! She knew exactly what I was envisioning and the linens, chairs, table sizes, chargers, etc. were absolutely perfect. JUST PERFECT! The service was superb. The entire Main Event team and staff were courteous, prompt, and focused on keeping everyone happy. My husband and I even had our own server for our sweetheart table who was amazing!!! Michelle and her assistant were fabulous with coming up with timing and transitions and worked seamlessly with our day of coordinator. And last but not least, the cost was extremely reasonable and I doubt any other catering company could beat it for what they provided us!

Wow! I don't even know where to begin. I always have low expectations for wedding food but Main Event blew me away! Our event designer and main contact for our wedding reception, Spencer, was fantastic to work with. He was always energetic and genuinely excited about making our event the best it could be. He was attentive and easy to work with. The food was out of this world! Many, many quests commented at the wedding that the food was fantastic and five days later, they are still talking about it! The service was fantastic and the wait staff seemed like they truly cared about making our event special. We could not have asked for a better caterer!

My (now) husband is a chef so the food and booze had to be the best. The food at Main Event Caterers was exceptional. We were able to customize the open bar for our wedding. Michelle Fishman, our event designer, was a pleasure to work with. She was flexible while working with our (admittedly large) budget and quickly responded to all of my emails and calls.

Michelle and the MEC waitstaff went beyond their duties to help set up our centerpieces when the florist didn’t. MEC also provided a tasteful pinecone cake-topper that fit with the look of our winter wedding when I didn’t think one through.

My husband and I and our guests were really impressed with the waitstaff. Our dedicated waiter for the night was polite and attentive. When a friend had a wardrobe malfunction, one of the waitresses fixed the unraveling thread because she is also a tailor!

Main Event catered my wedding reception and morning-after brunch.

We initially worked with a Main Event event designer who left the company a few months after I began working with her. No worries - we were given to Spencer and his assistant Meg, with a seamless transition. From the beginning, Main Event was EXCITED about my wedding menu, and worked with my fiance and me through several iterations of it until we finally decided what we wanted. The tasting blew me away and sealed the deal. We also got our wedding cake through Main Event - we gave them two flavor ideas, and they gave us a cake that exceeded our expectations. Through the entire process, the chef was very accommodating to our special requests; and Spencer and Meg were available to answer all of our questions - and helped us design an amazing/memorable gastronomic experience for our big day. We wanted our guests to be blown away, and they were!

As for the morning-after brunch, which we held at our home as an open house, the food was equally delicious. Spencer came over, figured out a way to arrange our tiny living room and porch in the best way in no more than 60 seconds, sent two absolutely amazing staff members to help us and even came over to help oversee setup at 8 am. We didn't have to lift a finger, which is what we wanted.

So happy we chose to use Main Event, and will be using them in the future!!!

Spencer of Main Event Caterers was amazing! He was easy to work with and very responsive to our emails/phone calls. The food was phenomenal and we received so many compliments on how tasty the foods were, especially the appetizers. We didn't have a day of coordinator, but Spencer was awesome in helping us out and took care of everything at the reception. Would highly recommend Main Event Caterers to anyone!!! They even ended the night with chocolate truffles for everyone! Such a nice touch :)

We worked with Andrea from Main Event Caterers and could not have been more pleased! To this day, months after our wedding, our friends and families continue to rave about the food at our wedding. Andrea and her team listened to our ideas for the wedding and brought us great suggestions to design a wonderful meal. They were open to anything and even worked with us to pair each course with craft beer - from selecting the details of each course to ensuring we had the right service plan to execute on our vision - Andrea led a great team which led to a simply delicious and one of a kind meal. Even when our wedding day turned out to be cold and rainy, the team gave us our option B with no hiccups and delivered each course hot and steamy - quite an accomplishment with the storm that they had to walk through to the tented reception. Andrea was well organized, always available, supportive and very detail-oriented. We would highly recommend Andrea and the entire Main Event Caterers team!

We worked with Daniela from Main Event. She was wonderful to work with, and she really worked with us on pricing so that we were able to get what we wanted. The food was spectacular, best wedding food I've ever had! They also were able to tweak a few menu items and when I requested Italian Wedding Soup, were able to create that as well. The vegetarian option was also great! Would 100% recommend Main Event!

I want to thank everyone at Main Events for the wonderful job they did at my daughter's wedding. The entire event was outside so the set up was tricky, with numerous last minute changes. Korey, the wedding day supervisor, was superb - he was flexible and handled everything beautifully in a calm efficient and professional manner. Once he got started I knew I could relax and just enjoy the whole experience. Everything looked beautiful, the food was outstanding and the servers and bar tenders were attentive and very pleasant. Everyone had a wonderful time. The clean up was also immaculate. I would highly recommend Main Events.

Alll I can say is AMAZING! We looked at other caterers and knew as soon as we sat down with Andrea that she would make out wedding exactly what we wanted. She was friendly, outgoing and awlays and email or phone call away! They provide outstanding, really outstanding food, not always the case at a wedding! I have to also mention Korey (our wedding day supervisor), every bride should request him! He talked to my husband and I the entire time, not in the way of course, just to make sure things were going the way we wanted! He was attentive and really a true professional! If I could give them 6 stars, I would! Main Event is the best catering you could ask for--the food is top notch and creative without being offputting, our event designer, Spencer, was organized and responsive, and the service at our wedding was perfect. I never once had to worry about timing, presentation, or anything at all. The biggest hits, food-wise, were the mashed potatoes with brie and the mini pot pies--get them!

Main Event Catering, led by Rachael, made my daughter’s wedding a truly memorable event. Before the event, Rachael was available to meet with us whenever we needed her to walk us through the catering selection process. The tasting at Main Event which was outstanding was a major factor along with Main Events reputation in deciding to use Main Event. On the day of the wedding, Rachael transformed the venue with its beautiful view from a basic room into a gorgeous setting. It was perfect for my daughter’s wedding. Everyone raved about the excellent food and it was so exceptional that two of my guests have contacted Main Event about catering their weddings. Rachael greeted the wedding couple at the venue with appetizers and prosecco, my daughter’s favorite, and sent them off at the end of the evening with a packed feast for afterward. Cleanup at the end of the evening went smoothly with all the decorations packed up and ready to go in a matter of minutes. It gives you a new appreciation for the industry after being responsible for the success of such an event.

We just wanted to thank Spencer and the catering crew who were at our wedding for the super job they did!!! Thank you so much for making our experience painless and easy and most of all for making our special day so wonderful! We got lots of compliments on the food:)

Andrea Falletti of Main Event was our contact for our daughter's recent wedding. She was exceptional. She understood our vision, came up with wonderfully creative menus and ideas to see it through, and assembled the most professional and delightful staff we have ever seen. The food was truly exquisite and our wedding guests, all very seasoned wedding attendees, said they have never in all their lives eaten such delicious food at a wedding. For sentimental reasons, we also wanted to do something unusual for a wedding cake and Main Event's pastry chef truly outdid herself. All staff members were totally professional and received many compliments from our guests. This was not a small wedding and many of the guests attend a large number of catered functions. Thanks to the wonderful work and attention from Andrea Falletti, this was one of the finest events I think we'll ever see. I cannot recommend Andrea Falletti and Main Event any higher. This company and Andrea Falletti are heads above everyone else. I could tell from the moment I met Andrea and how she responded to every request that I would be able to fully enjoy my daughter's wedding and worry about nothing. She is as close to perfect as it's possible to be.

We worked with Taylor Locroft at Main Event Caterers and I seriously thank her for our wedding looking as spectacular as it did. From our first conversations when we were just trying to get a quote she was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. We were planning our DC wedding at the DAR from Houston and were only there to meet with her but she did an amazing job communicating with myself and my parents via email and phone to make sure that when we did meet we were able to cover everything that needed to be covered. She helped me pick my linens, chairs, reception layout and I can't even begin to tell you how many people told us it was the most beautiful wedding they had ever been to. The food and wait staff was magnificant. They served an entire table at the same time. Main Event also made my cake. I gave them a picture of what I sort of wanted it to look like and it turned out more beautiful than I ever could have imagined...it was perfect!
From the moment we walked in to the reception everything was seamless. We did not hire a wedding planner and I am so glad we didn't waste the money on one because Taylor was all we needed.

In short, once at the reception, I never worried about a detail for even a second, because it was clear your team had everything under complete control. Spencer and Main Event were excellent to work with. We wanted to incorporate ethnic dishes into our dinner plan, and Spencer was excellent at understanding our thoughts and implementing this touch into our wedding in an elegant way. Also, we had several individuals with allergies and special needs diets and Spencer was receptive and excellent in his attention to these details. Our guests commented on how well the wait staff were prepared for these special diets and how seamless the service was. Spencer was very organized and fun to work with. The food was delicious as well. We had several last minute cancellations because of bad weather and Spencer was able to prepare take home meals for us. People loved the food so much, the left-overs were consumed at the after-party! Thank you Spencer and Main Event!

OUTSTANDING. My daughter wedding was July 16, 2011. The service they provided I cannot find enough words to describe such AWESOME service. Exceeded every expectation. The staff was professional, friendly, kind, caring. Our guest are raving about the service and attention they received. The food was unbelievable. I plan to use them for another event. Rachael Slockett was great to work with. She was extremely flexible and ensured our needs were met to our satisfaction. Her team was the best. Taylor Locraft with Main Event Caterers did an amazing job with my daughter's wedding in July. All of her ideas were so creative and exactly what we were looking for to make the wedding memorable. The food was delicious, the staff was so professional in serving our guests, and the cake was spectacular! Spencer McCormack and his team did an amazing job for our daughter's wedding in July! Not only easy to work with, but also very calming (which is very important as you approach the 'big day'). The bride and groom were in CA; the wedding and reception were in Fairfax, VA; the guests came from all over the US. The food was delicious and plentiful and the presentation was perfect! The staff was incredibly attentive; the bride said she felt like she had her own personal caterer, making sure she was taken care of the entire evening. As the parents of the bride, we felt like we were guests at our own party! We could relax and enjoy the evening -they took care of everything! Rachel Slockett and her team at Main Event Caterers provided first class service at our wedding caterer. Rachel was a dream to work with! Her professionalism and attention to detail were amazing and I was truly touched by the time and effort she took to personalize our wedding and make sure that it was a true reflection of us. Rachel did not even hesitate when presented with a short time frame for planning, a limited budget, and a nontraditional setting -- she simply worked with us to create the most perfect day! I was also amazed that the chefs at Main Event took the time to adjust the menu not only to our limited budget but also to specific food allergies. I recently held my reception at the Corcoran Gallery of Art with 240 guests. This venue had many challenges and restrictions (not to mention alot of guests to attend to) but Michelle Fishman and her team at Main Event Caterers worked up their magic and made it happen. I had a modern Afghan wedding and they were able to incorporate all the details into their services. They provided such great service and attention to details. Our guests repeatedly mentioned how attentive the staff were to every detail. It was both a pleasure and peace of mind to work with such a great team. I never thought I would feel so calm on the day of my wedding and believe it or not everything went perfectly.

Our wedding was on June 25, 2011. I contacted and got quotes from several different companies and Main Events was in an entirely different league. Our planner was Andrea Falletti and she was phenomenal. From the beginning, she respected our price range and offered an exquisite menu in our budget. We tasted a couple of different places and there was no comparison. The planning process with Main Events was easy, Andrea had a very quick response time and they understood exactly what we were looking for. The day of, despite delays on our part (not the caterer's fault) they adapted easily and made my life easier. Everyone raved about how amazing the food was. Very sophisticated, well cooked, nicely presented and the staff was fantastic. I can't wait to use them again. We seriously have no complaints. Don't bother shopping around, just call Main Events. My mother owns a small catering company and she is very picky. Even she was HIGHLY impressed with the food and service. You can't beat their price for the quality. Equivalent food and service costs twice as much at other places!

Michelle Fishman, senior event designer, and her team at Main Event Caterers provided first class service as our wedding caterer. Michelle is delightful to work with. She takes the time to learn about your favorite foods and makes wonderful suggestions. The chefs at Main Event are the best in town. Our chef created the most amazing tasting food. Many guests at our wedding commented that this was the best food they had ever had at a wedding. Everything was perfect and the service was exceptional. Taylor was our event designer at Main Event, and she really stole the show compared to the other caterers we looked at. She was super easy to work with and had some great ideas for taking our non-traditional wedding to the next level. She was also hugely detail organized (which I loved!) and was so fun to work with. And as a bonus, she put up with my type A detail-overload personality. We also got to do some really fun foods and got a lot of compliments on how good all the food was!

Our event designer, Rachael was a joy to work with. Rachael's ability to understand the vision I had for the event and expand upon that idea with key details and best practices made everything day of run smoothly and gave us great results. Rachael is prompt, knowledgeable in her responses to my questions and flexible. She is proactive and the kind of person you can count on to think of the details you may have forgotten. The entire Main Event team was great to work with. They were responsive to our questions and concerns but most importantly the food was FANTASTIC. Our concept wasn't a traditional sit-down dinner, rather a buffet of hors d'oeurves, each bite was better than the last and my guests are still raving about the food a month later. I looked at a lot of different caterers for my wedding, and have had to use other caterers in the DC area in my professional life. Main Event gives you the biggest bang for your buck, with no detail missed. You cannot go wrong here!

The Main Event team did an awesome job (my contact was Spencer). From my initial meeting with Spencer at the Main Event headquarters, I immediately felt comfortable. I tasted the salads, entree, appetizers, and was immediately impressed with the service they provide. The staff was so accommodating and nice, I am sad its over! My fiance was unable to come to the tasting, so they were kind enough to wrap a plate of food for him! Problem solving, fabulous, (and the food was amazing), makes Main Event my top choice for caterers.

Main Events did an amazing job with our wedding. Daniela was absolutely wonderful to work with. We interviewed a lot of different caterers, and I worked in the catering business throughout high school and college so I had a ton of questions and requests for them all based on my experience. They stood out well above the others from beginning to end. Daniela paid attention to all of the things that were important to me, and she followed through the day of the wedding.

They helped us so much to make the day perfect. The food was wonderful as well. Our guests raved about it after the wedding and said it was the best meal they'd ever had at a wedding, as if they went to a great restaurant. We had a dual entrée - the chicken was moist and the steak was cooked perfectly!! I would recommend them to any other bride/groom in the area looking for excellence. Main Event Caterers made my wedding!! I had some specific requests about what I wanted to serve including polenta, candy apples, sorbet, and an antipasto table. Andrea came back with an initital menu that was above and beyond what I had imagined!

Through my entire planning process, anytime I had an idea or wanted to change something - including the day of - the response was always, "Not a problem."
They are by far above and beyond any other caterer out there.

The food was amazing, I have heard from all of my guests (and agree) that it is the best food they have ever had at a wedding! I also have to say the staff that evening was fantastic. The catering manager was unbelievably responsive to anything we asked and actually anticipated things I didn't know I wanted! (Drinks during our picture taking for example)

I'm sincerely grateful to MEC for making my event a huge success, I would absolutely recommend them to anyone. The food is fantastic, the service is fantastic, and just their overall professionalism and flexibility is unmatched anywhere else!

My daughter, the bride, gave me the only reviews that really mattered. We danced the last song together and she told me she didn't want it to end. When we talked again later, after the event she said "I had my dream wedding." The Main Event staff was in large part responsible for this. Michelle was great. The food was excellent. The service superb. They moved the tables and chairs at the last minute inside the tents after giving me the option twice before. They did this without complaint. They accommodated the vegan cupcakes we brought in, the nut allergies, the gluten free foods. I could not ask for more.

Spencer at Main Event is the man! We had to find a caterer last-minute, and he arranged the schedule to fit our tasting in. After the event, I'm not surprised that they won the caterer of the year last year.

We were torn on what to serve and Spencer suggested serving both! The chef created a special plate of food for us with everything that we wanted. We also brought our own crabcakes, and Main Event gave us the freedom to do that. (We contacted other caterers who were going to change an $8 plating fee for the crabcake). We also had several red wines. We brought our own keg of specially brewed beer. Basically, our event with its details was a caterer's worst nightmare, but Main Event pulled it off beautifully.

The food - especially the lamb chop - was amazing. The guests said that the food was the best wedding food they ever had. The service was amazing. The groom and I had our own personal waiter the whole night. We had a wedding with many personal details, and Main Event was very accommodating in meeting all of our requests.

If you want a no-hassle caterer who is going to pay attention to the details, provide excellent service and food, then Main Event is your caterer. And Spencer at Main Event is highly recommended.

Main Event was absolutely the best choice I made for my wedding! Everyone was raving about how great the food was. We had a sit down dinner and my guests were thrilled at the fact that the food was brought out to each table at the same time. So everyone ate together.

I also had an Uncle with a very unique diet. Main Event, without batting an eye, made this very special meal for my Uncle. The look on my Uncle's face was priceless. He truly thought he would have to sit there and watch everyone else eat, but when they sat his food down in front of him, he was blown away. He was actually eating with everyone else at the table. We could not speak highly enough of the service and quality we received from Main Event. Daniela, our catering manager, was a delight to work with. From our first contact to our last email, she was responsive, thoughtful and helpful. All of our guests, including my foodie parents and in-laws, were impressed by everything - from the signature drinks, to the outstanding appetizers and the buffet to the room layout and table trimmings. On the day of our wedding, Daniela and her team made our evening perfect. They were affable, highly professional and supremely attentive. We were never without a fresh drink and a full plate of food. Everyone says that the most memorable thing that guests recall about a wedding is the food and, with Main Event, you cannot go wrong.

Spencer at Main Event Caterers was great to work with. From our initial meeting through to the reception, he was always available to answer any of our concerns. His responses, whether by phone or e-mail, were prompt. His advice was invaluable.
We decided to serve a dual entree plate which everyone loved - especially the rockfish (totally enjoyed by the Louisiana relatives).
The wait staff performed professionally and the bride and groom enjoyed having someone just for them (even to tactfully reminding them that they needed to sit and eat and visit with friends later).
We even had a last minute change at the place settings (our daughter and now son-in-law had Jones beverages with their pictures on the label for guest souvenirs). We had neglected to leave instructions that they were to be at each place setting when we took the cases to the reception venue. My husband went to one of the waiters and few of the guests ven noticed them adding the bottles to the tables.
The food was great, everyone enjoyed themselves, and we have already recommended Spencer and his crew to friends who have children marrying in the near future.

Main Event Caterers was excellent! Our event coordinator, Spencer McCormack, was fantastic to work with. Beginning with our first communication, Spencer was very responsive, and answered all of our questions right away. He made himself available for meetings to discuss all aspects of Main Event Caterers' services and showed an understanding of what we wanted for our wedding day. The service at our reception was outstanding, as was the food! We received many compliments on the dinner. We were thoroughly pleased with Main Events.

In a word, perfect. I had a picture in my mind and Main Event Caterers matched it! Spencer came out to our venue and helped with the layout of the reception, which was brilliant and worked flawlessly. The food was amazing- all our guests told us it was the best food at a wedding they ever had. We requested a strawberry grand marnier cake. Not only was it gorgeous, but it was delicious! Again, our guests said they never tasted a better wedding cake! The servers were amazing and attentive, yet barely noticable in the crowd. The supervisor, Corey, did a fantastic job directing the flow of the evening. I would highly recommend this company and I would use them again without question or hesitation for a fantastic event!!!!

Choosing Main Event was definitely one of the best decisions we made when planning our wedding. The food is absolutely fantastic and they were able to offer us a better price than all the other caterers we talked to. Spencer was absolutely fantastic from start to finish -- friendly, very helpful, and the fastest response time of all the vendors I worked with. Throughout the planning process, Spencer always seemed as excited about the wedding as I was!

We wanted a somewhat unique menu (breakfast foods like pancakes and eggs, but at dinner time), and Spencer took our idea and ran with it. Our guests were thrilled to have the breakfast foods they love for dinner, and raved about how good it all was. Spencer and the chefs were great about adjusting the menu as we requested -- making the granola without nuts for my allergic sister, keeping the meats separate from the other foods for our Jewish and Muslim friends, and making the pancakes a little more basic for my picky husband.

We had a lot of last-minute changes to the guest list and seating chart, even after the final count date, but Spencer was very helpful and willing to make the adjustments.

Our only complaints are in regard to the servers. Guests who were seated at the back of the room reported not getting all the hors d'oeuvres and not getting enough hors d'oeuvres, as the servers would work their way through the room in the same way each time, so that people at the front of the room were getting access to all the hors d'oeuvres every time the servers came out and many of the trays would be depleted before the servers reached the back of the room.

One server, who was apparently new, frequently cleared items -- almost full drinks, plates with food still on them -- off tables well before the guests were done with them. At the end of the night, she cleared away and threw out all the favors on her tables, even though the guests had not yet left and were coming back to their tables to get them. Spencer was as disappointed as we were to hear about this incident and apologized to us, as well as assured us that the server in question has been talked to regarding the company's policies on favors and other items provided by the couple. (It is their policy to not throw out anything provided by the couple, such as favors, menus, programs, table numbers, etc.)

While we were disappointed to hear that not all our guests received the hors d'oeuvres or were able to take home their favors, we do not believe those problems are indicative of Main Event's services as a whole, and our overall experience with Main Event and Spencer in particular was very positive. I definitely recommend their services, and I wish that I had another event to plan so that I could work with Spencer again and have another meal of their delicious food!

The food, service and professionalism were not to be outdone. Spencer was fabulous. I highly recommend using Main Event Caterers.

I had a wonderful experience with Main Event and Spencer McCormack in particular. He was the single reason our July engagement party turned out so well. I have to say the wedding planning experience made it clear to me that their are few wedding vendors that truly care about what they do and how they treat their customers. It is apparent that many wedding vendors are quick to say "spend more - it's your special day" and then be completely unresponsive once they get their check. This couldn't be farther from the truth about Spencer and Main Event. They take immense pride in their work and treat you like a valued customer.

I had blast emailed about 3-4 caterers and all but Spencer took their sweet time in emailing me back and putting together a proposed menu. Literally one of the other ones had the audacity to email me two days after their 2 week late email and berated me for my time lines being so short and me being non-responsive to her!

We also had some quirky things with our party, I am gluten free and wanted Indian food and my fiance is from the midwest and love bread. So it was quite the fusion. Spencer was great with quickly coming up with a creative menu and worked with us to make changes. His experience was key in helping us to think about things we wouldn't have otherwise - like good passed apps etc. We went in for our tasting and the chef was wonderful, we were able to tweak the menu based on tastes etc. We gave Spencer our budget and he worked to get the best options in our budget instead of putting wonderful things in front of us and them forcing us to scale back because of cost.

He was so easy to work with and INCREDIBLY RESPONSIVE. The last part was the most crucial for me, I am not into the event planning piece, so he was like my defacto event planner. He coordinated with the venue supervisor who wasn't responsive, helped us with contact needs not even relating to the food piece. The supervisor from Main Event at our reception was absolutely wonderful. He walked up and made sure that my fiance and I had everything we needed.

My only complaint the day of the event was we were such social butterflies that we never ate at our event (very much our own fault). We had a very informal setting designed for people to mix and mingle and not a formal seated dinner or formal buffet. In hindsight, I would have asked them to prepare some doggy bags for us. But that is much more my fault than the caterers. Everyone raved about the food and the staff. The servers were so attentive to my guests - one even went as far as to pull additional appetizers for one of my girlfriends after they were done serving apps. Just because my friend said how much she liked them!

I turned over the linen selection to Spencer and he chose a brilliant orange colored linen combination that really popped in my venue. I would never have thought of it on my own, but it was gorgeous.

All in all I would highly recommend both Spencer and Main Event. My guests all commented was a classy and sophisticated event it was.

Reviews should encompass all aspects of the vendor - both positive and negative. Honestly, I have absolutely nothing but praise for Main Event Caterers. If people forget everything else about your wedding, they will remember the food - and ours definitely did.

Hands down, they exceeded expectations on every front. From the start - they impressed us with their tasting invitation (very nicely done, almost like dining in a real restraunt or cocktail party) to the night of the wedding when Paul went above and beyond in paying extra attention to my 93/97 year old aunt & uncle (preparing their dinner plates earlier then the rest, getting them drinks as necessary, and helping them move around).

Working with Alison Fisher took out any stress that should have been in the process. Not only was everything well coordinated on her end, but she also took on some other roles and helped out beyond her catering responsibilities.

To reiterate - BEST VALUE. You will get quality product, offered by quality staff, at an outstanding price. Main Event won "Caterer of the Year" for 2010 by Catering Magazine and I can clearly see why.

OH my goodness, what a fabulous event they helped create. The menu they created was so creative and they worked with me first as if we were going to do stations, and then we ended up doing seated service.. and both sets of menus were sensational. Every single guest came up to us and said they had never had wedding food this good before, ever. The staff worked impeccably and there were many meetings to put it all together.. it came off just beautifully

We worked with Spencer McCormack as our event designer for my daughter's wedding and from the start presented him with a challenge. Both my daughter and I lived in other states ... my daughter across the country, in a different time zone and unable to travel and me in NY state and only able to travel to Virginia once (in February). Spencer's careful and thoughtful answers to my first email inquiry were what caused us to put our faith in him and Main Event and we were not disappointed! Guests raved about the food and the presentation. And he was wonderful throughout our processes of deciding and re-deciding and he was a master at juggling three people’s input and keeping the details straight … not only straight but adding to the mix with more delicious ideas. We were trying to come up with an interesting menu that could meet some complicated diet needs. The two cakes (yes 2!) were also a hit and we very much appreciate how he worked with the baker to produce gluten free cake that everyone would enjoy. Spencer was a pleasure to work with and his careful attention to detail was great, especially due to our long-distance complications. The staff at the event were super to work with too -- even in the extreme heat. The wedding was outside during a Virginia heatwave and required some creative solutions to keep the food not only edible but beautifully presented.

We had our wedding catered by Main Event in July and it was fantastic. Spencer was incredibly helpful about every detail of the process, I felt like he was my wedding planner rather than my caterer! Spencer worked with us to make sure that the food, the price, the decor was to our specifications. We were very pleased that he was so accommodating. The caterers took care of everything on the big day and my husband and I were just able to relax (we were even shadowed by a caterer who kept us supplied with drinks and made sure we had time to eat throughout the evening). All of our guests commented on the quality of the food (my uncle thought the mini crab cakes were the best he has ever eaten, and he comes from a seaside town!). I would absolutely recommend SPENCER from Main Event Caterers for a wedding, it would have been much more stressful to plan without him.

My husband and I planned our entire wedding from start to finish in a little under two months. The wedding was the event we both dreamed about and it wouldn't have been possible with out Spencer McCormack. He was the foundation that made everything possible in such a short amount of time. We found Spencer by surveying sites like this and finding out who was in the top tier. While a few other companies matched Spencer's reviews for quality, after meeting with them it was clear that Spencer was head and shoulders above the rest. I wouldn't have thought of this ahead of time, but keep in mind that the person you are working with is going to become part of your wedding and your special memories. Spencer was the only person who we met with that was someone we could imagine bringing into our lives for this momentous occasion. He was a friendly guy who went the extra mile to make sure we had what we needed. He got to know us as people and we considered him a friend we were happy to have at our wedding. He worked with us to find whatever we needed at the right price. By the end, we trusted him so much we simply described the 'emotion' we wanted added to the wedding cake and we knew it would be done perfectly. (It was). Spencer is the magical ingredient that makes an event an occasion. If you are looking for caterer who will do more than show up on time with good food, their is no one who even comes close to Spencer.

Main Events was a very professional caterer that also provided delicious food! Food was the big priority for my husband so he researched the companies in our area VERY carefully. After talking with the people we'd be working with (and tasting extensively) we settled on Main Events. The staff is incredibly responsive and takes good care of their customers. The person we were initially working with left the company and, without missing a beat, we were passed on to another manager who contacted us immediately and knew all of the information about our event!

Day of, the staff at the event was incredible. The gentlemen who kept everything going was so personable and friendly. He really made the event have just the kind of atmosphere that we were looking for.

Fantastic experience! Spencer came to our home, walked through the setting, and had many creative ideas about vegetarian dishes for our son and Australian daughter-in-law's wedding celebration for their North American family and friends. We have comtinued to receive oohs and aahs about the tastiness of the unique dishes, the gorgenous presentation, and the amazing wait service. The bartender was a big hit! Main Event Caterers left our home cleaner than when they arrived. Kudos!!!!! Also, when we realized that we had forgotten to book a photographer only 2 weeks before the celebration, Main Event Caterers found a fabulous photographer. We could not imagine a better day thanks to Main Event Caterers.

Main Event catering and our catering supervisor (Daniela) did an outstanding job. They negotiated their pricing with us to match another caterers deal and were a huge value. They even helped when the chair/table cloth rental price jumped $300 at the last minute. Main Event provided the rentals for $100 LESS than the original company. The service was impeccable and we were really happy with the results.

We had one snafu. The fish was the favorite thing we tasted and when served about half of the pieces were mushy. However, they were quick to swap plates. Also, after the wedding was over, their manage Cheryl offered to compensate us for the issue. TOP RATE SERVICE!!!

How many ways can I say DELICIOUS?! Their food is the BEST! Aside from my venue, the food was the 2nd most raved about thing at my wedding. Their service is very impressive. All my guests said that their empty glasses never had enough time to touch the table before another waiter was there offering another drink! My husband and I were too busy mingling and taking pictures that we weren't able to eat much. But we had our own waiter following us around making sure all our needs were being taken care of!
At Main Event, you can also customize your entire menu, from the appetizers to dessert! I loved this because I have a lot of food allergies and we designed a delicious menu accommodating that. The main color at my wedding was hot pink. They were able to serve a personalized hot pink drink during cocktail hour and my guests LOVED it! There are no limitations to anything you want to do! They take care of EVERYTHING and in the most professional and "above and beyond" way! After working with Main Event Caterers, I will NEVER use another caterer because I doubt that you can get as good food and service from anywhere else!

We used Main Event Caterers for our wedding in January 2010 and we couldn't have asked for a more responsive, flexible, delicious caterer. Our event designer, Michelle Fishman, really took the time to understand who we were and what we wanted our wedding day to be like. She made sure we had an amazing menu, was able to accommodate several dietary restrictions, made fantastic decor suggestions, and recommended an amazing cake baker. And on the night of the wedding, the staff was amazing and if anything went wrong we didn't know about it. Their professionalism is certainly unmatched. And the food is fantastic!!! We had so many guests tell us that the food was the best that they had ever had at a wedding and (for a few) the best food they had ever had, period. Everyone I had contact with at Main Event was fantastic (excellent customer service) and wish that I was having another event coming up so that I could hire them again!! A+++++++

Main Event provided not just delicious wedding food, but delicious food, period. We received and are still receiving compliments on how wonderful everything was. Renee was a delight to work with and helped find budget friendly options that were tasty. All of the staff was friendly, efficient, and professional. We highly recommend Main Event Catering.

Peggy at Main Event did a great job with our coordination, and the food and service provided was excellent. Their pricing was about the same as I'd seen from other caterers, but the presentation is what set them apart for us. The service at our reception was outstanding - the staff was hardly noticeable but the food and drinks were constantly flowing. Peggy was always quick to respond to my emails and phone calls, and assured me that they would take care of the 4,000 items I ended up wanting at each place setting. When we arrived, everything was in place and our guests were already complimenting us on the food and decor. Highly recommended!

They did an exceptional job. Food was delicious, service was exceptional; fine dining quality and attentiveness without making the commoner like myself feel uncomfortable. They were pricier than a few other caters, yet they actually called us back after our initial call. My wife called a number of caterers as we were initially "shopping around" and they were the only people who initially called us back. So tell me why I would want to even think about giving my business to a company I have to hound down. So we looked into it and I'm glad they we chose them. They are a "green" company, from not using much disposable products to keeping the lights dim at their office. I was impressed by their earth-friendly practices though-you gotta give them that, and it can cost a lot of money to initially set that up. Great company over all and EXCELLENT food, we got a lot of compliments on them.

We couldn't be more pleased with our catering services from Main Event Caterers. The food was exceptional, the service staff went above and beyond to make sure our day was special (ask for Peter, he's the best!), the flow of events was seamless, they were personal and flexible with our requests, and our customer service was excellent. I would recommend this caterer to anyone! And a bonus...they are a green company, operating on wind power, using renewable materials, recycling...without the marked-up prices of an "organic caterer." Go Main Event!

The catering service was EXCEPTIONAL! Down to the last detail, everything was as envisioned. The quality of food, the presentation, the service staff were second to none. I highly recommend this caterering company. They are worth every penny.

Spencer and the entire staff at Main Event Caterers made planning for my July wedding a breeze! I was planning my Fairfax wedding from the West Coast, but Spencer was more than willing to communicate via telephone and email and meet face-to-face with my mom. In fact, my sister stood in for me at the tasting with my mom since I was unable to attend. Throughout the whole process Main Event was incredibly flexible regarding this situation.
We had very few decorations at the reception hall, so the food presentation and table setup were the primary focus. I felt 100% comfortable giving Spencer creative control to make the space look simple, but elegant -- and his team pulled it off beautifully.
Throughout the evening, I felt as if I had my own personal waiter who would help me get in and out of my seat (not an easy feat in a wedding gown when everyone is clinking their glasses to see the bride and groom kiss!) and periodically checking in to see if I needed more food or drink.
The food was amazing and perfectly altered to meet my picky tastes. Once we had picked out the general type of food we wanted and one or two specific dishes, the chef was able to suggest side dishes that would pair well with our choices. We received (and are still receiving!) so many compliments on the food.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend their services to any bride, especially one overwhelmed with putting together all the details of the reception herself!

We are STILL getting comments about how good our food was at the wedding last November! Michelle from MEC really helped us to have a wonderful experience and choose food that was both delicious and visually appealing, but worked with our budget. I loved her candidness when it came to reminding me that this is what she does for a living (and is great at it), and to trust her on some things. I was not the kind of bride to totally hand over the reigns, but found that it was so easy with Main Event. They showed up on time, were nice as can be, and set up a beautiful buffet for a perfect evening (even though there was an accident backstage with the tilapia). Easy to work with and professional, I would recommend them highly to friends. Ask for Michelle!

I worked with Spencer (and towards the end, Meg) at Main Events for my September wedding. From the outset, Spencer was a pleasure to work with. He was the first to respond to my inquiry, and one of the few who didn't act like he was doing me a huge favor by catering our wedding.

My initial interactions with Spencer and the tasting party were what sealed the deal for us. Planning with Spencer was a breeze, he was very accomodating and flexible if/when I changed my mind. Our guests raved about the food, and at the end of the night the staff packed up some to-go boxes of cake and hors d oeuvres for us to enjoy later.

We met Meg at our walk-through the month before the wedding, and she was very sweet and helpful with our last minute guest changes.

I would definitely recommend Main Events for a wedding or big party!

I cannot say enough great things about Main Event Caterers and our event designer Michelle Fishman! Our wedding last night was absolutely perfect in every way, largely because of Michelle and Main Event. We had so many guests come up to us and rave about the food - literally everyone said the food was amazing - but even more than that was the incredible service and piece of mind that Michelle gave us.

From the moment we met, I immediately felt comfortable with Michelle and knew that Main Event was a perfect fit for us. The great reputation and commitment to the environment drew me to Main Event but I chose them because of the service. I loved that instead of just sending us a standard menu, Michelle took the time to interview me about our tastes and create menus that were exactly what we wanted. The food was amazing - garam masala lamb chops, Andalusian gazpacho, incredible halibut with crispy leeks, Argentine steak with chimmichuri...and the best of all, cookie ice cream sandwiches (to name a few). Their menus were beautifully customized, reasonably priced and everything was delicious!

Michelle anticipated our every need and managed a beautiful, seamless event. Walking in, the room looked gorgeous and was set up exactly how we envisioned. Even with more than 250 guests, she effortlessly handled schedule delays and made the entire evening run perfectly. From beginning to end, it was everything we could have wanted and we are so grateful to Michelle and her team for making this possible.

I would recommend Main Event as by far the best caterer in Washington and I will certainly use them again for future events.

We can't say enough good things about Main Event and Alison Fisher. Working with them from start to finish was really fantastic. Alison was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable on all aspects from food selection to linen and dinnerware selection. She basically acted as a wedding planner, assisting with all aspects of timing, other vendors, etc. Their day-of service was seamless and remarkable. And the food was all fantastic. Finally, getting sent home with doggie bags of two more full entrees as well as a selection of the appetizers was really over the top. They are fantastic.

Main Event was great! We loved them from the second we did their tasting. They were accommodating and friendly and cooked their tasting food just like they would the day of your wedding. We were with Andrea who was fantastic. She generally responded to emails quickly and gave suggestions to assist us with other problems we came across with wedding planning. She helped us pick our food, because we were very indecisive! The day of they made great decisions about the cocktail hour based on our venue to make sure guests were comfortable. We received LOTS of compliments on the food!

Main Event does a beautiful job and makes sue each event is personal. Their chef makes fantastic food and their pastry chef is also excellent. All of our guests were blown away by the good service and food at the event.

My husband and I love food and decided early on that it was something that was going to be excellent. We wanted to impress our guests with something better than standard wedding fare, and wanted to incorporate our Asian-American heritage- something that presented a real challenge for the American caterers we talked to.

Main Event has a level of professionalism that is set on impressing you and has obviously put a lot of thought into their proposal and tasting process. They have a nuanced understanding of world cuisine, and were able to respond thoughtfully to our menu needs. Where most other vendors suggested things in teriyaki sauce, Main Event displayed a better understanding of authentic Asian cuisine and also were familiar with local supply chains. We sent them a recipe and played the game that the coordinator affectionately called "stump the chef". It was essentially a braised pork bun famously served at Momofuku's in NYC. Long story short, months after the wedding, guests who ordered it still bring it up, and guests who didn't still wallow in regret, haha. Overall, presentation was top notch, with most people taking food pictures before being able to dig in.

As far as event planning, they worked directly with other vendors to handle much more than just food. They were there to take care of linens, rentals, and other setup. On the night of, their service was impeccable and reflected their depth of experience. Small things like limiting the alcohol for guests before dinner so that toasts would go unheckled and packing up meals for us to eat after the wedding were greatly appreciated. Best of all was the dedicated server assigned to us to ensure that we ate (forced us to, really, knowing that dinner is usually a lost cause for the bride and groom). As we sat in the hotel, scarfing down hors d'oeuvres that we suddenly had an appetite for and the desserts that we didn't know we served, Main Event was a clear winner.

Delicious! I got so many compliments on the food at my wedding. Everyone loved it!

Spencer was very easy to work with and very responsive during the planning process. He accommodated our busy schedules and met with us during off hours to pick linens, silverware, and other items. When there were a couple of glitches with payments incorrectly charged, he immediately resolved them.

The day of the wedding, the presentation and taste of the food was excellent and the staff was responsive and friendly. Our guests particularly loved the corn souffles. There were a few glitches - too few chairs were set up for the ceremony which unfortunately meant that some guests had to stand. Also, the buffet room did not have an additional table set up with plates, as was previously discussed with Spencer. The beef was not hot, but the rest of the food was at the appropriate temperature. Despite these minor glitches, we would recommend Main Event for a wedding. Just make sure you reiterate your setup with your event manager on the day of the event.

Main Event was AWESOME! We wanted a soul food menu for our wedding, and out of the many caterers we talked with and got proposals from, Peggy and the team at Main Event really "got it." The menu was completely customized based on our picks and our vision, and we got wonderful food despite being on a relatively limited budget. Peggy worked closely with us in the weeks and months leading up to the wedding to ensure that everything went exactly as we had planned. She even upgraded our linens for free when she learned of a new set the company had purchased that would look perfect with our event colors. We had several in-person meetings out at our venue, and she was just a ton of fun to work with. And she accommodated our many changes in the last few months based on our shifting number of guests. On the day of, everything went off without a hitch. The table settings looked beautiful. We got RAVES about the food---it was absolutely fabulous. And the service staff was a dream. Everyone was so friendly and helpful throughout the event, and they were completely on the ball in taking care of my husband and me as well as all our guests. I would DEFINITELY work with them again and recommend them extremely highly.

Main Event was one of the two caterers we seriously considered. Though they were more expensive than the other half dozen I researched, their menu options were so much more intriguing and interesting than the others. Once we tasted their food, there was no question. Melissa, who no longer works with them, was a dream to work with - she understood our vision and our tastes and worked closely with me to make sure our menu made sense for us and was thoughtful, flavorful and unique. When I said our food needed to be kosher-style and temple friendly, I didn't have to explain myself. When I said we needed a main dish option that was "vegetarian, and not pasta" there was no trouble finding several lovely and reasonable options. Michelle, who took over for Melissa, continued to meet and exceed the expectations Melissa set up. She was responsive, flexible and worked with us to be sure our event met all my expectations. Not only was our food delicious, it was stunning. We have been living on leftover the last couple of days, and every meal has been great. My only complain was that the food was not as warm as it could have been, but it was definitely not cold.

Main Event was the only caterer we truly considered for our wedding. We went to a few other tastings, before immediately booking with Main Event. The food, atmosphere, and overall experience with the other vendors was 'stereotypical wedding': bland food, schmaltzy decorations. This was not the direction we wanted to go in, so we were thrilled when we read about, met, and booked with Main Event.

From the beginning, our event designer, Melissa (who is no longer with Main Event, sadly) understood our vision, our personalities, and what we were looking for. We bonded over all being self-proclaimed 'foodies' and she understood that the quality and creativity of the food was important to us, as was the presentation and service. We wanted waiters who were able to politely explain what was being served, we wanted creative displays--basically we wanted to the event to proclaim 'this is a fun party', not 'this is your standard wedding'. We went to a tasting event at Main Event that blew us away: it wasn't passed appetizers (though they had that as well)--it was a full sit down meal with 5 courses. After each course, the staff at Main Event rotated to sit at a different table.

About two months before our wedding, our event designer left and another designer took her place. She was able to follow through with what we wanted and we couldn't have been happier with how the food, presentation, and service turned out. The only negative caveat was that during the 'clean up period' after our wedding (With the guests and bride and groom still feeling quite happy and excited), the staff was brusque and slightly cold to us and our guests. It almost felt like 'okay, you had a great event, it's over, and now we can stop being friendly!'

From start to finish, working with Main Event was a piece of cake. While other caterers seemed almost insulted by our budget (which was apparently fairly modest for a wedding, although for us it felt like a huge expenditure), Main Event respected our limitations and worked within our budget to provide a delicious menu and outstanding service (being able to provide our own alcohol and cakes/pies was key). We didn't give Rachael a whole lot of guidance about details, but she was full of helpful suggestions and questions. Everything looked lovely on the wedding day - from the welcoming station with water and lemonade, to the happy hour bar, to the gorgeous reception. There were so many details (most of which we never would have thought of ourselves) that made the day special - from the artful stacks of glasses at the bar to the tiny slivers of strawberries with chocolate truffles the staff brought around while we were dancing. The food was fantastic - we highly recommend the chicken piccata and the veggie lasagna. We're still working our way through the leftovers they thoughtfully packaged for us to take home. And the service staff were the friendliest, most easy-going people we could have hoped for (especially the bartender). It was also great to know that they were doing their best to reduce the environmental impact of the event. All in all, we would highly recommend Main Event.

We had a difficult time deciding on a caterer and we were turned away from many caterers because of our "small" $10K caterering budget. I had heard great things about Main Event and when we contacted them they worked within our budget to put together multiple AMAZING options for our menu. Everyone we worked with from inital planning through to day-of on-site support was phenominal and a lot of fun. Their team truly is supportive and helped with just about everything at the reception. Our guests have said that the food was the best they've ever had at a wedding and everyone on the Main Event team added to the personal, fun feeling of the day. I would absolutely reccomend Main Event to other brides and am even trying to find an opportunity to work with them again!

We were very pleased with the quality of food and service at our wedding catered by Main Event. The food was delicious and our guests seemed to enjoy it greatly. It is unfortunate that the standard for buffets at weddings is not always the greatest, and we were incredibly impressed with the quality of each dish, many of which we did not have the opportunity to taste beforehand.

The event coordinator I had been working with was put on bed rest the week before the event, but I would not have known the difference because everything ran very smoothly and the set up was just as we had planned. Korey, the wedding day supervisor, was the icing on the cake of our experience with Main Event. I missed the cocktail hour while my mom was bustling my dress, but Korey found us to bring me a plate of the hors devours that we had chosen and delivered me a drink as well. He also checked in with me at several points throughout the night to make sure everything was going as planned. When someone spilled a bit of red wine on my dress, multiple waiters came to me with assorted remedies and were so attentive. At another point, my mom asked for the red velvet cake (there were 3 flavors), Korey tracked down a piece, found her in the crowd, and made sure she received a piece. Korey and his team truly exemplified service.

Once we got over the initial sticker shock of catering a wedding, our priorities were finding a business with quality ingredients and excellent service. If these are your priorities as well, you will be extremely impressed with Main Event. We certainly were!

We worked with Daniela from MEC and were impressed with the quality of service we received not only from Daniela but also their Business Manager, Cheryl. Daniela was very easy to work with and helped us custom design our menu for our reception. We had a mix of Southern/Asian comfort food and she offered great suggestions and accommodated all of our needs. From the hors d'ouevres to the custom buffet, our family and friends couldn't stop raving about how delicious all the food tasted. The presentation was beautiful, the tables were lovely and the service was top notch. We even had our own dedicated butler the night of our reception that waited solely on our table. Talk about exceeding our expectations!

And even when we had issues with our venue a couple days before the wedding, Daniela took everything with stride. She ensured every detail was taken care of and that everything went off without a hitch! We couldn't have asked for better food and service! I would hire MEC again in a...

I went to three tastings and Main Event was by far the best tasting and most professional. They were also very flexible in accommodating all the dietary restrictions present at my wedding (gluten-free, nut allergy, plus vegans, phew!). They were also able to work with my budget, although I was a bit disappointed when the cost increased by several hundred dollars a few weeks before the wedding because of additional linens and silverware that I thought were included. (Make sure to be as specific as possible with vendors on the number of linens you will need!)

Main Event Caterers has great food and service. The food is great- way above average with average prices. The service was also good considering we had an emergency at the beginning of the event and they managed to improvise. Overall I would recomend them to anyone. I would contract them for any personal event.

In the end our experience with Main Event was a good one, but it was a rocky road that involved switching our event coordinator after our original contact became completely unresponsive over a period of weeks, despite repeated emails and phone calls. This was an extremely stressful event during an already stressful time, but after speaking with the management staff we were able to switch to Daniela, who was great to work with and helped us put together a menu our guests continue to rave about. We continued to have some issues with our contract and overall communication, but in general the experience was about what I'd expected from a DC caterer.

ME is definitely not the cheapest caterer around, but they do have the ability to put together practically any menu you could conceive of, and the services during the wedding was largely flawless. There was a brief period of time where they somehow managed to misplace three cases of beer and tell people we had run out, but it was remedied and the staff member designated to take care of the bride and groom (Guillermo) was wonderful.

Overall, because we had our wedding at Glen Echo and the catering options are very limited, I would probably recommend ME to another couple getting married there as the best mix of price/service. That said, we definitely had some problems and I would encourage people to do their research before decided. Regardless of the service though, everyone involved agreed that the food was absolutely fantastic!

Main Event was extremely helpful, responsive, and accommodating during the planning process. I interviewed other well-known caterers in the area and felt Main Event provided the best customer service. That being said, I think Main Event gave me too much leeway in planning the menu and ultimately agreed to something that they couldn't produce successfully to scale. The dinner was good - but not the quality I had envisioned. I would have been more successful had I asked them what they did best rather than pushing it too far with my ideas and substitutions. There is only so much one can make well for 200 people on a hot night with no kitchen on premises.

Main Event did a WONDERFUL job! They were very easy to work with and everyone raved about the food. I would go back to them in a heartbeat. Beautiful set up too. I loved the truffles!

The staff at Main event caterers were excellent! They went above and beyond to make our wedding day special. They saved us h'orderves to eat and were extremely helpful. The food received many compliments from our guest. Spencer was a pleasure to work with when I spoke to him. However, he seemed rather busy and rushed all the time. Sometimes he was very responsive and sometimes not so much. When I schedule an appointment with him and took time off work time to come see him to review the linens, etc. he was sick and did not show up and no one knew about my appointment. I had to have someone else review everything with me on what I wanted on the wedding day, and I felt rushed. When my wedding coordinator later suggested to him I see a trial setup of what the tables would look like he was not too keen on the idea, so I never saw it. Also when I asked Spencer early on in the planning about what decorations they did for the cupcakes he never responded to that question but would respond to all my other questions. Then 4 weeks before my wedding he tells me that they do not do fondant type decorations on the cupcakes only icing decorations. So I had to scramble to find someone to make gum paste decorations for the cupcakes and cake topper. If I knew that I would have gone with someone else to do the cupcakes, especially since the cupcakes tasted just okay. Also, we never saw Spencer the day of our wedding. He told us later he was busy in the kitchen and that is why he could not come out to see us. But a quick hello from him would have been nice. I had a small wedding, 70 people, so I am not sure if that is why he was so stand-offish. All and all the food and service at the wedding was great. However if I had to do it again I would have gone with another another caterer who would have given me the time I wanted to help plan the linens, etc for the wedding.

Our experiences with Main Event leading up to our event were superb. The staff is professional and provided a great show of their services during the monthly tasting, which left us with very high expectations for our event. We selected food choices from the tasting that were not prepared the same way on our wedding day. There were other surprises including a champagne toast that was not part of our contract, but was added to our bill. When we arrived on-site just a few minutes prior to arrival of guests, the table set-up was not completed and I found a stack of menus on one chair. The staff cutting the cake forgot to serve one table.

The absolute highlights of the evening was the service staff. They were exceptional and had one gentleman staff us the entire night. We felt like royalty and thank the staff very much. Although there were some surprises, we were pleased with the overall service and quality.

Leading up to the day, everything was good. But when it mattered the most, all the plans and discussions around details we had with the 'event designer' seemed to fall apart. The drink served at the table was not what we asked for, and it was gross - leaving our guests thirsty because the event designer failed to make sure the servers got replacement drinks to our guests. The wrong bread was served (the one we asked them not to serve based on what we had at the tasting). We did not receive the service described to us at the head table (we were overlooked for dessert/coffee!), and the staff failed to get a to-go box to us at the end of the evening. It really did not make sense for service to be so sub-optimal since we had 6 servers for less than 80 guests. Overall we think Main Event is a good company but that they faltered in their choice of who they assigned to oversee our event. We feel that things would have been different if the company had assigned a more professional or experienced person from their staff. The memory of our day was soured by finding out later that the 'event designer' had been extremely rude and unhelpful to several of our friends and guests (was snappy and even yelled at our friends who were helping with the guestbook/gift table, and was not timely in providing them with the materials for set-up). In a follow-up discussion with the company it became clear that they were aware of how they had failed to meet some of our expectations but had not taken the initiative to make things right for us.

Main Event always does beautiful and delicious events at the Lee-Fendall House. Their staff work incredibly hard to make sure each event is as wonderful as it can be!

Main Event Caterers are always a joy to work with. Their food is sublime, their staff are well mannered and helpful, and their corporate morals are admirable. I was particularly impressed when I saw them execute a "choice in advance" plated entree that left us ahead of schedule by the time they completed service. As a timeline-obsessed planner, nothing makes me happier than being on time!
