Maira's services met ALL my needs. My hair and make-up looked flawless the entire day into the night. My husband snapped a photo of me at 1am and if you compare it to photos of when Maira finished in the morning I look exactly the same! And that's after hours of running around, dancing, and eating. The best part of getting ready for my wedding is that Maira put me at total ease. She worked diligently to make sure she finished the look we created at the trial and brought the photos with her to ensure she didn't miss any details. Another added plus was that she is punctual! I didnt have to worry about the time b/c Maira made she she was on top of that.

Maira was an absolute pleasure to work with throughout the wedding process. I found her through recommendations on websites, like this, and was impressed with what other brides were saying. I was looking for someone who was able and willing to travel to a hotel with their team to do both hair and makeup for a group of 9 plus me. Maira responded that day to my email - which impressed me, and rather than lock in the date immediately with me, she asked me to come in for a trail. She would not let me sign a contract until i was able to see her work (this impressed me, as most people wanted me to sign a contract and not do my trail until a few weeks before hte wedding). My experience working with Maira Ortiz was fantastic and I would definitely recommend her not only for wedding hair and make-up but for all your special occasion needs. I did a ton of searching online – reading sites like weddingwire, weddingbee, etc. for user reviews because I wanted to be confident going into the hair & make up trial that I would not be wasting precious time and resources. I loved the reviews I read and decided to give Maira a try.
The trial went really well even though I started off very undecided with a lot of different looks. Maira is a petite dynamo full of energy, with a great personality. Although she has quite an impressive portfolio, she was not pretentious at all and was very easy to talk to. She helped tweak the styles I showed her to fit my face and didn’t just copy the pictures I brought. It’s a shame that she doesn’t believe in posting “before” and “after” shots because you would be able to see the dramatic transformation that she is able to accomplish without ever making you look “overdone”. I looked and felt like a million bucks and really hated to wash my face/hair, later that night.
The day of my wedding I was certainly feeling the pressure and stress and I love that Maira took the time to help me relax by giving me a few words of wisdom about enjoying the day and twirled me around my hotel room to dance a bit and clear my head. She expertly and efficiently did not only my hair and make-up but the hair and make-up for my mom, and two sisters – who can be quite picky- all within a tight timeframe. Maira made us all look like our very best selves…We all got tons of compliments and the pictures are great because of her flawless work.
Considering the outrageous prices other makeup artists charge for “bridal” makeup, I think Maira’s pricing is extremely reasonable, right in the middle range. Something important to consider when reviewing your budget is that most stylists I read about online DON’T do both hair and make-up so you’re stuck paying for a minimum of 2 people for the separate services. Maira, however, does both!
In the end, Maira’s work was well worth every penny. I felt pampered and beautiful as every bride should feel on her wedding day and highly recommend her services.

Maira and her team did hair and makeup for me and my four bridesmaids on the morning of my 10-2-10 wedding. Since our ceremony began at noon, we had to start pretty early in the morning. Not only did Maira arrive ready to go, she was early! We were all ready in about three hours.

All of my bridesmaids looked beautiful, and they each looked like themselves (not generic or too matchy). Each of them wanted different hair styles, and Maira did an excellent job of listening to what they wanted.
As for me, I have never felt more beautiful. Maira took what we did for my trial run, and tweaked it a little for my Wedding Day. I got the airbrush make-up, and I highly recommend it. My make-up stayed fresh-looking all day long, but it felt like I wasn't wearing anything.

Maira and her team did makeup and hair for me, my four bridesmaids, and my mother. She was super organized, professional, and made everyone look the best I've ever seen them. She's a good listener and was able to help all of my girls look the way they wanted, despite their very different tastes and desires.

Everyone's hair stayed in place from beginning to end (and then some), and I amazingly looked fresh and made up even after the after party was over. I recommend the air brushing- it feels like you're not wearing anything at all and it STAYS ON!

In case I haven't made it clear before, I would like to emphasize how reliable Maira is. Not only did they get everyone made up with plenty of time before the wedding (we were on a tight schedule), but she also showed up to the hotel early!

Anyway, I can't recommend Maira enough- she's stress free and will make you look stunning on your special day.

I already had a makeup trial I wasn't happy with before my trial with Maira. After my trial with Maira, I booked her immediately, as I loved the look she created for me. . Maira absolutely nailed what I was looking for on the day of. Furthermore, she arrived early and completed her work in a timely fashion, so we never felt rushed. She also did a beautiful job on my mom's hair and makeup. We both used air-brush makeup which was completely tear-proof and lasted all day. My hair also lasted until the end of the night. In fact, the curls were still there the morning after ! My mom also reported that her hairstyle held up the next day. Maira is a very sweet person and was great to have around on my wedding day. I hope to use her for special occasions in the future.

Maira was AMAZING on my wedding day! She came to my house early and was ready to go. While my entire household was running around and last minute details were being fixed, Maira was a calming presence and she helped me relax. First, she did hair and makeup on my mom and aunt. They both came out stunning. Their hair and makeup stayed the entire night - and they didn't even get airbrushing like I did. In the pictures, they look flawless. Next up was me! I changed my hair style last minute and Maira was more than accommodating. Maira did my hair and my makeup - I had airbrushing done - and I swear, I did not have to touch anything up the entire day. From the 3pm church service until I got home at 2am in the morning I did not have to touch up my hair or my make up. Maira did such an amazing job on me, I was incredibly happy because as a bride you want to feel like the most beautiful woman in the world and I def. felt that way. On my wedding day WOW!!!!! I bought hair extensions and she put them on and it looked like the hair extensions were mine! I had long soft curls with braids incorporated along with a hair accessory. I got married on a Sunday afternoon 5/2/10. I was a "mature" bride....47 years old and I was very concerned about looking age appropriate. I wanted to look special but not overdone. I can't say enough about Maira and her skills both on a professional and personal level. Her fun personality really kept me calm during a stressful morning. She made me look and feel beautiful. My hair was exactly what I wanted....a 1950's style bob, and my makeup was just enough to cover up flaws and imperfections, but still looked natural and still looked like me. I first met Maira in the summer 2009 when I was contacting various hair/make up artists for trials. Maira is the only stylist that was interested in setting up a consultation before the trial date to ensure we were on the same page. This was very comforting to me, especially since i have "ethnic" hair that not many mainstream stylists know how to properly handle. The consultation went well, and we arranged for a trial appointment on the same day as my engagement pictures, so I could see how it photographed.

Maira traveled to my house and began at work. She took her time and explained everything she was doing. She even brought music to have fun with. The makeup and hair looked great and the e-pics came out awesome. I did not hesitate in booking her for the wedding day!!

On the day of the wedding, Maira showed up early at the hotel where I was getting ready, set up and put on some fun music. Since we already knew the "look" we were going for, it took less time than the day of the trial.

The hair and makeup stayed put all day/night, and everything was flawless!

Some might consider Maira on the expensive side, but she is definitely worth every penny!! I will have photos/videos to look back on, and I know that I look the best I can thanks to Maira!

Maira is THE BEST! I ended up having airbrush makeup applied, which I was initially skeptical about, as I have heard mixed reviews about the technique. I am SO GLAD that I decided on an airbrush application, rather than the traditional method of makeup application. I usually do not wear makeup, and my skin looked much better than usual-and I have very clear skin. All of my makeup, including my eye makeup, stayed on throughout the evening, so I was always ready for the camera. My videographer and photographer both commented on how amazing I looked. My skin looked flawless, all night long. My eyes looked amazing! The only thing I needed to reapply was my lip-gloss, which Maira provided and gave me to keep. Someone once told me that the artist matters more than the products used. Maira is highly skilled in her technique, and knows which products to use. One bridesmaid was worried about her makeup application, as she has sensitive skin, and she was forever grateful that she decided to have her makeup done by Maira.

You can tell that Maira enjoys people and making them look better than their best. Maira is professional and friendly. She arrived early, and made sure she had enough time with each person. She is also incredibly easy to get into contact with. I live in Boston, and would travel to New Jersey/New York to work with her again. She is THAT good!

Maira and her team were on time and worked very hard to give each girl the attention necessary and even redid one hair style when one of bridesmaids changed her mind.

I was impressed with Maira timeliness and ability to stay on schedule despite having a large number of girls to work with. She started right on time and ended exactly when I had told her I wanted to be ready. Her team worked very well together and really had a professional process and set up.

My bridal hair and makeup was exactly what I had hoped for. Maira listened to my ideas and my preferences in addition to making suggestions during my trial. I was very impressed to see to see that she had all the makeup we had decided on during the trial already set up when she came to do my makeup on my wedding day in addition to an ipad with pictures and notes on. Her organization really impressed me.

My hair was half up, half down with curls down the back. My makeup was natural looking and stayed on flawlessly all night long despite humid weather and a lot of dancing. I received many compliments and my husband continues to tell me how stunning I looked.

Maira and her team prepped me and my entire wedding party on my wedding day. She and her assistants did a fantastic job and I felt so beautiful. Equally important, the photos came out amazingly. Her aesthetic is heightened natural beauty. I looked like myself on the best day ever. Thank you Maira!

I really enjoyed Maira's upbeat personality. She is a ball of energy and super friendly. I loved my hair and make-up trial. For some reason, I didn't love my wedding day hair and make-up as much. She and her team did hair and make-up for all my bridesmaids and the mothers. Some of the women were better than others and Maira ended up having to re-do the work of one of her assistants. I think this put us in a bit of a time crunch and Maira was still working on my poor mother-in-law while we should have been starting family pictures. Maira is definitely talented and friendly, the wedding day seemed too rushed however and as a result, stressed me out and the final quality/result was not as great as I had seen her do at my trial.

Maira did a BEAUTIFUL job on my wedding day makeup!! She made me look absolutely stunning!!! She also has an amazingly professional set-up -- she comes with a special makeup chair and tons of equipment, and even brings her own lighting and music! When we had my trial, she carried a laptop with her and entered all of the makeup she did on my into the computer, and took professional-quality photos of what we had done! I was really impressed with all of that. The only down-side is that she is expensive, but it was well worth it for how she made me look on my wedding day! Also, I was convinced I would need her around for touch-ups, so I booked her for extra time to stay and touch up my makeup during the course of the day -- but she did such an amazing job with her airbrush makeup, that it didn't fade or smear at ALL, even after hours of taking pictures outside and tons of dancing! The only touching up I required was my lipstick! When I was getting ready for bed at 5:00 AM, after having worn my makeup for almost 20 hours, it was still absolutely PERFECT and looked as good as when it was freshly applied -- I was amazed by the staying power! I was so sad when I had to wash my face before bed!

I loved my hair and makeup on my wedding day and felt the trial was very helpful. It cost far more than I originally wanted to spend but Maira was one of the few people that agreed to do my makeup without also doing a wedding party. The makeup and hair looked beautiful and I received numerous compliments on it.

She is so an amazing Makeup Artist... All of my productions, where Maira is everything mis flawless, make up stays and hair stays all day and night. Very talented and professional.

She is a perfectionist in what she does, and her staff is excellent. My bride was not only impressed by her hair and makeup trial, but was relaxed that she would have the look she wanted for her wedding day. For this particular wedding, it was hot and muggy and the wedding was in central park. Maira ensured the bride the makeup and hair style would last the whole day, and it did.
