Jolie Artistry

After researching a few make-up artists and the same old recommendations on The Knot, I chose Jolie. She was the only artist that had women of color in her portfolio which told me she had skills to work on any skin color and type, important for my bridal party and me. Also, her prices were better than most! We first met when I booked her for a trial when I did my e-photos. She came on time, totally prepared and when we started running behind (my fault), she was able to finish the job with top quality. I booked her for the wedding and she came to my bridal suite, did all my bridesmaids and mother. By the time she got to me, I was a nervous wreck. She had an amazing way of staying calm herself, despite any kinks in the schedule, and really calmed me down. The best part – I was so nervous that I yelled, “Someone give me a beer!” and Jolie instantly popped up a little tray for me to set it on. She even let me take drink breaks during my make-up application. HA! That makes me sound like a lush but it felt like Jolie really cared and was doing everything in her power to make sure the day went as planned. The make up lasted all from 2pm – midnight and I received a million compliments.

Jolie did a wonderful job for my engagement photo session and wedding. The makeup was great and looked at midnight like it did when Jolie applied it at 11:00am. Thanks Jolie for helping to make my wedding so special!

When one of her assistants had to leave unexpectedly because she became ill, Jolie was on the phone and handling the issue in minutes and had another assistant show up on that minutes notice to help finish up our wedding party. I didn't even know there was an issue to be dealt with until one of my bridesmaids mentioned it to me much later after the fact. Jolie only uses the best makeup and truly knows how to accentuate everyones features to put their best face forward. I absolutely recommend Jolie and her makeup services as she is skilled and experienced in her industry.

Jolie is amazing! Not only did she make me look beautiful on my big day but she helped me find other vendors and even went out of her way to help my daughters with their hair touch ups when my hands were full with a million other things the morning of the wedding. She responds immediately to questions and felt like part of my family. Her makeup is really art in the amazing way- she is talented above and beyond the other makeup artists I trailed. I have never looked or felt more beautiful than this day and my makeup lasted all night through hours of dancing. It looked amazing and freshly done even in the end of the night pictures! If I could give Jolie all 10's I would! Jolie was so wonderful to work with! She is a perfectionist and took her time at my trial making sure I loved everything! Where to start?? After contacting Jolie, I received a response back almost instantly. Although she is in high demand, she was willing to work with the time and location that I needed her. She was very open to my ideas, but also has the expertise to design something from scratch. Jolie does an excellent job giving a bride something natural and stunning. She's very interested in what her client uses on a daily basis so that she can match the type of makeup (e.g. for oily skin, long lasting, etc.) My makeup lasted the entire duration of the wedding (from 8am to 11pm) through tears, rain, and dancing! I cannot say enough great things about Jolie and would readily recommend her to anyone! Thanks for making my special day extra special!

Jolie helped me to look amazing on my wedding day! She really listened to what I wanted during my trial, and re-created the same look (but even better!) almost 2 months later for my actual wedding. I felt really comfortable working with her, and she is fast to respond to e-mails and phone calls. Jolie was also very flexible the day-of, as our hair appointments ran long, and we were late getting to the church. As stressed as I was, she didn't make me feel bad for making her wait. She was able to finish my make-up as well as my Mom's, and we still started the ceremony on time. My make-up lasted well into our evening reception, I was sad to wash it off at the end of the night. I would recommend Jolie to any bride!

I have only good things to say about Jolie! First of all, she was so responsive. Every time I emailed her she responded within the day. She was so helpful and put together a hair team for me as well. The day of the wedding she had already started on the bridesmaids before I arrived at the hotel and they looked so beautiful. jolie is such a sweet, professional person. she made me feel so confident and beautiful on my wedding day. we did a trial and i was a bit unsure about the foundation because i don't wear foundation on a daily basis, so i told her after i allowed the makeup to sit for the afternoon. she immediately offered and encouraged me to do another trial with a different foundation that was lighter to make sure i would be happy and comfortable on the wedding day. i felt so relieved to know my wedding makeup was going to feel good and look great. jolie is so kind and talented and i would recommend her to any bride. she did all of my bridesmaids makeup and my mom and everyone was so pleased!

Jolie was amazing! Because I live in Phoenix and got married in Kansas City we never did a consultation before the wedding, so I was a little nervous, but she was awesome! She arrived on time, was super personable and friendly and worked with everyone to make sure they liked their make-up. I don't wear make-up everyday and when I do it's only eye make-up, so I left all my make-up decisions up to her and my make-up turned out wonderful! Even my husband was happy with it. I would definitely recommend her to anyone and I hope that I have another function so she can do my make-up again.

Updated in Dec 2011: I used Jolie again for our day-after wedding portrait session in the beautiful fall. Again, Jolie was professional just as she was and was able to re-create a similar look to what I had on our wedding day. She was also once again very flexible and tried to accommodate our schedule as much as she could. I love her service and will go to her again if I need a makeup artist for special events in the future. She has become my go-to makeup...

Jolie was AMAZING!!! I was in a time crunch and a little gun shy after my first makeup artist fell through. She quickly eased any concerns I had. She was prompt and professional and really listened to what it was I wanted. I would recommend her to anyone.

Jolie and her assistant Lora did an AMAZING job on the makeup for me and my wedding party. She was incredibly accommodating (she even let me add an aunt to my list a week before the wedding!), and her work is outstanding - she really listens to understand the look that you are going for. Jolie was extremely considerate of what my daughter wanted and made sure that she was using the color scheme and amount of makeup desired by the bride. She was very open to any changes we wanted to make and even fix my niece's makeup later on in the day. She also was willing to meet with us twice on the big day so that as the MOB I didn't have to wear my makeup all day. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

Jolie is absolutely fabulous! I do not wear make up so I was completely clueless about the whole make up process and Jolie did an amazing job of creating a perfect look for me. She was very responsive to all my questions and provided exceptional service. She did make up on site which was extremely helpful and has very reasonable prices! She also did make up for several of my bridesmaids and all of them were very happy with their make up. In addition to providing a superior service, Jolie has a great personality and made me and all my bridesmaids feel extremely comfortable throughout the day.

Jolie was amazing. I loved my make up. She did my trial the night of my bachelorette party. All my bride's maids loved it so much that most of them decided to get their make up done on the big day! I found out about Jolie by reading these reviews and was nervous to meet someone I found on the Internet. However, all my nerves were eased the moment I met Jolie. She took time to listen to what I wanted and made sure I liked my makeup. She was punctual, responded to my emails quickly and was so fun to work with. She did my makeup, my mothers and 2 bridesmaids. We all looked beautiful thanks to Jolie. She is very talented and will bring out your natural features.

I really CANNOT think of a bad thing to say about Jolie. Not only is she super nice but she is an amazing makeup artist. I thought I looked great and not overdone and my flowergirls' makeup (which she did for no cost) looked great, too, and the little girls absolutely loved being treated like princesses. Jolie was very professional, quickly responding to any questions I sent by email and arriving on time! We talked quite a bit about the look I wanted before the trial and she was completely willing to make any changes I wanted (though the only change I made was lip color).
