Reviews for Malibou Lake Mountain Club
I'll be married at the Malibu Lake Mountain Club in Agoura Hills on March 24, 2007. I have been working with Roxy from Truly Yours Catering who also coordinates events for this location. This is the one and only location my Fiance and I ever looked at. It's perfect for us in so many ways. The beautiful sprawling lawn overlooking the lake is a perfect setting for the outdoor ceremony. The reception room is beautiful with the fireplace & bay window. So far Roxy has been a pleasure to work with, she answers your e-mails / calls promptly & is very good about getting an answer to any of your questions.
I would have to say that the most prominant feature of this location, is in fact the location. It's nestled in the hills and requires a beautiful, scenic route to arrive there. By the time you reach the Lake Club, you'll forget that LA is only 15 minutes away!
Malibou Lake was the perfect reception venue, given the look and feel that we wanted for our wedding. Itâs nestled in the Santa Monica Mountains, so you have great views of the naturally beautiful landscape with an outdoor set-up. The clubhouse has a rustic feel to it, which lends itself to a very warm and relaxed atmosphere for receptions. While I highly recommend Malibou Lake as a venue, I have some reservations about its site coordinator, Roxy Adlesh, based on my experiences with her towards the latter part of the planning process (which is also the most crucial). She became rather difficult to get a hold of and was disorganized. It helped that I kept records of every conversation we had, because I found myself having to refresh her memory on things weâd agreed upon and even had to call her attention to some discrepancies on the final invoice (e.g., being charged twice for the bar set-up fee). On the day of the wedding, there were some set-up issues that my behind-the-scenes helpers had to work with because Roxy seemed to have forgotten what we discussed about the lay-out. To be fair, she was wonderful to work with in the beginningâ¦very pleasant and upbeat. It may be that she couldnât manage the workload on her own, as she seemed to be running things solo for Malibou Lake.
I have photographed at this location on several occasions. It's my very favorite place to shoot weddings because it's just so photogenic! It's peaceful, private and gorgeous!
We were married at this beautiful venue in May of 2008. We loved it the moment we saw it as it is nestled in the Santa Monica Hills, secluded from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. I like to think that we found a true gem here.
We partially worked with Roxy Adlesh, but then switched in the beginning of 2008 to Meredith who presently the primary contact person for this venue. Meredith was great to work with. She was efficient with responding to your inquiries, easy to work with, and helped out as much as she could on the day of the wedding. That is a huge plus as most people at venue's don't always do that.
The food was good as we chose to serve our guests via Russian style which is basically a family type of serving style. The entree's came out on modern white dishes that gave your wedding a sorta modern flair.
The only gripe I have about the place is that you aren't allowed to have any amplified speakers during the cocktail hour as the residents that live around the venue are strict about the noise. I really wanted a guitarist to perform during our outside dinner reception, but was unable to get on due to the amplified speaker reason. In the end, it worked out as we used a string quartet throughout our ceremony and dinner reception and the guests seemed to appreciate it.
On the upside, it's a very affordable venue that comes with a beautiful site! What more can you ask for?
This location is beautiful. Everyone at our wedding complimented us on the location and many of our LA friends were amazed such a place existed in LA.
We looked long and hard for a location and this place was so it. The reception hall is beautiful and you have the option to have an outdoor ceremony but the insurance of being able to have an inside ceremony should the rare bad weather hit.
Roxy was awesome to work with. She has so much experience with weddings that she was able to give good advice. And listened to what we wanted for the vision of our wedding. And a big thing was she didn't make us feel like our wedding wasn't important even though it wasn't some huge wedding with millions of guests. Her and her staff really helped on the day of and made sure we knew what was going on and helped direct people. It was as if I had my own day of corrdinator which really made the day easier for me.
The food was awesome and everything we hoped for. Everyone got plenty to eat and seemed to love everything. We didn't want a sit down dinner and they really accomdated us. We also go the cappachino bar which was a HUGE hit with our caffine junkie friends.
The staff was so friendly and pleasant. When we were collecting our stuff to leave for the night they were wishing us well which seemed very sincere.
To top it off, Roxy took pictures through out the night and toward the end handed me a CD of pictures so I could see them the next day, since we all know that professional photographs take much longer.
I would recommend this location and Truly Yours to anyone who is planning a wedding. Beautiful location and wonderful people to work with.
My fiancee and I were really interested in this place - I emailed Roxy twice and left her a couple messages, and it took her three weeks to get back to me (on one occasion her message said she was in the office that day). I had heard from other people she can be hard to get ahold of, so we kept looking and found another place in the meantime.
