I consider South Maluaka to be one of the most beautiful beaches on the south side of Maui. The cobblestone pathway in front of the beach created a beautiful entrance and wonderful photo opportunity. Our intimate wedding for two was held in the sand and it seemed like we were the only people there! Other visitors to the beach were extremely courteous of our wedding and made sure to give us our space. After the wedding we took a walk down the long beach and were able to capture many great beach photos. If you are considering a semi-private beach location for your ceremony I would definitely consider South Maluaka.
Knowing that all beaches in Hawaii are public, and still wanting an intimate and private wedding, we had to choose from a semi private beach.
South Maluaka Beach was a perfect fit for us. It was outlined in green with the grass and trees. There is a rocky ledge perfect for pictures and a view of the northern part of the island.
Other guests of the beach that day were very courteous and loved being apart of our day, they even helped with resetting up our flower display after a big wave came by before are ceremony.
This beach really set the pace and theme of our beach wedding.
We were married on North Maluka Beach in Makena, Maui on March 3rd 2008. The sunset was beautiful, the sand was white, and the bright blue of the ocean was simply amazing. This was the perfect location for having our toes in the sand while saying our "I Do's".
About Maluaka Beach
Located directly in front of the Maui Prince Resort. There are two public parking lots one for each end of this beach both of which are really hidden. On the main parking lot at the South end there is not even a sign, except something like dead end. I get the feeling no one what's any body to know about this place. The turnoff for the parking lot is just before the Maui Fish Tacos Stand. There are picnic tables, beautiful grassy area, public restrooms and showers. There is even a concession stand right off the beach run by the Maui Prince Resort where you can get a cold drink or rent all sorts of beach equipment. This beach is absolutely beautiful has incredible sand just asking to be walked in bare foot and it is a fantastic place to bring the family for the day for all beach activities and also to enjoy watching the beautiful Maui Sunsets.
