Jay is a true artist and one of the most fun people you will work with during your wedding planning process. I cannot tell you how much I absolutely adore him and how special he made our wedding day.Our main cake was an easy pick. The second I walked into Jay's shop I saw the one for me. My husband's pick was a little more complicated. He wanted a very specific grooms cake. Jay TOTALLY made it happen. When we saw it at the reception, we about lost our minds; it was SO FABULOUS! He loved it sooooooooo much, and people couldn't stop talking about the amazing Super Hero Cake!However, I will say that while the main cake was an easy pick, it stole the show...because it was HANGING FROM THE CEILING! Yes, this is why I love him; he thinks outside the box. The cake was so so so so amazing. People kept coming up to me and saying, "Is your cake REALLY suspended??" They were just blown away by the wow factor and couldn't get over it. It was truly spectacular!Jay, you were a dream to work with. I love you and think you are absolutely amazing. Thank you for making me feel so special, and I just truly appreciate everything that you did for us. I looked high and low for someone to make my wedding cake. I wanted someone who thought "outside the box", offered plenty of options, and whose cake tasted as good as it looked. I found all of that - plus more - when working with Jay at Maples Wedding Cakes! My wedding reception was in the ballroom at the Hutton Hotel in Nashville, which is a huge 7,000 sq ft venue. I was worried my cake might get lost in the atmosphere, but the cake that Jay & the team at Maples made for me was the HIGHLIGHT of the room! It was stunning!! And I rarely see wedding cakes that are stunning. I hated to cut it because it was so amazing! It was fashion-forward, unique, and very "me." I loved that Jay listened to what I wanted and helped me design a cake that I would remember forever, which is more than I can say for a lot of bakers. Jay is amazing, and I would HIGHLY recommend using Maples Wedding Cakes to any and every bride in and around the Nashville area!

Where do I start? My cake was fabulous and more than I could have ever hoped for! Originally I was going to have cupcakes until I went to the bridal show and saw what amazing pieces of art Jay and his staff could create. I fell in love with him from the beginning. Jay pulled inspiration from the colors in my linen to create a marble effect on the flowers, words don't do it justice on how perfect it was! The cake was flawless and it tasted wonderful, there was not much leftover. Jay truly cares about his brides and that made my day very special.

One of the first things I was looking for when purchasing a wedding cake was taste. I love the sour cream almond cake it was absolutely delicious. The fondant he uses melts in your mouth. My cake was designed after my save the dates and hit the nail on the head. The cake was gorgeous and the taste was to die for. He made the process very easy for me and he is priced very reasonably. If I could do it over again the only thing I would change is I would have made more time to eat more.

Maples is wonderful! Jay was great to work with and really cared about making sure our wedding cake was exactly what we wanted. Our cake was so beautiful we didn't want to cut into it. It also tasted great! We chose the platinum and pearls design with black ribbon in the center of each layer and 4 beautiful broaches decorating each layer. Our flavors were chocolate, strawberry and almond buttercream. It's been 3 weeks since our wedding and we are still receiving compliments on how beautiful our cake was. Our cake was amazing!They known that what we wanted and they are professional.The biggest shock was how huge it was, which was also fabulous! You can not trust your own eyes.I had dreamed of nothing about my wedding except for the cake: red velvet with buttercream frosting and cream cheese filling. It was superb!

Wow! Jay made us the most stunning cakes for our wedding. We were impressed with Maples (and Jay) from our initial meeting. From the first tasting to seeing our cakes for the first time at the reception--the experience was everything a couple would want. We had some specific ideas about what we wanted and Jay brought those ideas to life. He copied the pattern from my vintage family china and hand painted it on the stunning (and did I mention tasty?) wedding cake. If you like coconut--you really should ask to taste his coconut cake--with lemon curd and coconut buttercream. The groom's cake was stunning--an architectural cake fashioned after the family farmhouse my husband loves so much. The cake was so impressive that we hated to cut into it. It really looked just like a little version of the house. Not only did it look good--it tasted good too.When we began looking for someone to make our wedding cakes, taste was the most important thing to us, followed closely by design. Jay surpassed our expectations on both. We still look at pictures and agree we had the best wedding cakes ever!

Working with Jay was a pleasure- the tasting was fun and Jay really took the time to listen to my and my husband's ideas and needs and worked with us to come up with something that worked perfectly for both of us! The cake arrived on time and was beautiful! When we got to cut it, it was so delicious- very fresh and exactly what we wanted: our cake was layers of chocolate mocha and banana with chocolate icing- so good! We had the caterers pack up a couple pieces for us to have after the reception and nothing is more perfect than starting your honeymoon with some time to enjoy your cake and champagne just the two of you. Their fondant was actually cheaper than their buttercream. Who would have thought. Everything about my cake was great. It was beautiful. It was delivered timely. It tasted delicious.I got so many compliments and could not have dreamed of getting another cake!I cannot wait to have my anniversary layer.

We ordered the sourcream almond wedding cake. It was designed like the Platinum and Pearls cake with a champagne ribbon fondant icing with jewels flowing down the front. The over all look was absolutely stunning and was the center piece of the reception. The guest were all commenting that the cake was to gorgeous to cut. But they were extremly happy that we did. Not only was the cake gorgeous, the flavor was amazing. Jay was wonderful to work with. With planning a wedding it is very important to select vendors you don't have to worry about. You have enough to think about. With Jay I knew he would do exactly what we had talked about and that the delivery of the cake would be safe. It was a pleasure working with Jay.

Maples Wedding Cakes exceeded our expectations on every level! The Bride's cake was absolutely exquisite! The Groom's cake (a Maples Leaf Hockey Puck) was a huge hit. My cake is absolutley going to beautiful just like all the sample cakes. These are the best cakes out there. The man in charge of making the cakes is very sweet and great to deal with. The only sad part...you MUST book in months in advance. After the bridal show this weekend I promise you these cakes will go fast! They have 98 from the health department as well.

Jay is wonderful to work with!!! The cake is out of this world! You know most time when you go to weddings, there is always cake left over. We had NONE!! It was all eaten, and everyone raved about it! Not only does it taste good, it looks fabulous!!

Working with Jay at Maples Wedding Cakes was an absolutely wonderful experience. I had an idea about what I wanted my cake to look like, but I was having a hard time finding someone in my area (Clarksville) willing to use my design. When I met Jay at a Nashville bridal show he was so friendly and his display cakes were remarkable. When I showed him my design he said he would be more than willing to not only make the cake but also deliver it to Clarksville! During our consultation I had so much fun playing with the design that I had brought. When I left that night I knew that my cake was in "good hands" to say the least! The day of the wedding Jay pulled up with a smile on his face and brought in the cake of my dreams. Not only did it look amazing, but it tasted wonderful as well! Everyone at the reception was amazed that a cake that beautiful could taste that good too! It was such a wonderful overall experience. I cannot express and my husband as well, how pleased we were with our wedding cake. Actually, the whole experience was phenomenal. I searched high and low for the perfect wedding cake with savings in mind. What I mean by savings is what is worth paying to receive unique beauty plus wonderful taste. I think I got the most beautiful cake ever, but what's shocking is that it was just as delicious or even more so. I searched for cakes on the internet and I always went back to Jay's Maples Wedding Cakes. The experience of going to taste the cakes and meeting Jay was terrific. His place is quaint and precious with models of his cakes in display. He's so curteous and pleasant. He was so patient with me as I kept tossing ideas and numbers and he accommodated my every need without being bothered. I knew he would be the one to make our cake. I couldn't decide between two cakes and he gave me so much time to decide without hesitancy. The whole experience was awesome to the day when he delivered it and it sat proud on the wedding table. People raved as to the flavor and moistness along with its beauty. I honestly have never tasted a cake more delicious. I also met his partner in decorating and please forgive me for not remembering her name but she was as sweet and so very talented. Together they made us a cake that was such a huge part of our wedding. Well worth every penny! I am the mother of the bride. My daughters wedding was 4-18-09. We first met with Jay on May 8, 2008. He was the 2nd appointment on our list. After the first meeting with Jay we made the decision to let him make the cake while we were still in the parking lot before we ever left. We never went to our other appointments we canceled them. He was so excited about the cake that my daughter had picked had several ideas which my daughter approved of immediately. The grooms cake was going to be a Mallard Duck which Jay was excited about being able to make. The day of the wedding Jay was ontime and had the cake set up and ready just as he said he would. We had many many compliments on both the wedding cake and grooms cake. And the taste of exactly what we had sampled at our first meeting... it was DELICIOUS!!! The only problem was that I did not have enough left to take home. Would highly recommend Maples Wedding Cakes I don't think anyone would be disappointed...

I highly recommend Jay and Maples Wedding Cakes! He did a wonderful job on my wedding cake and our groom's cake. I took in a picture of a cake that I liked. We discussed it and made it into a cake that I loved! The finished product was beautiful and better than I could have ever imagined. Not only was it a beautiful cake, it was delicious as well (his fondant is excellent!)! My husband wanted a mallard duck groom's cake, and Jay exceeded our expectations! He made a 3-D replica of a mallard duck, and it was spot-on! You will not be disappointed with Maples Wedding Cakes!

My fiance and I were ready to order a wedding cake from Publix when our wedding planner suggested that we at least meet with Jay to get the whole wedding cake tasting experience. Smart move, Angela, we fell in love with Jay and skipped our Publix appointment the next day.Pourquoi amore?Start with Jay's cozy, inviting space in Murfreesboro. Sure it's a hike out there but his wine-colored walls with black trim (incidentally it's the same scheme in his dining room at home, he'll tell you), comfy sofa, farmhouse-chic shelving, crystal chandelier, and oodles of beautiful faux cakes on display to let you know that you've just walked into a special place. (By the way, he has space to meet in Hillsboro Village as well if you just refuse to make the drive to the other 'boro.)Then, taste Jay's cake flavors. We picked chocolate (omg), sour cream almond pound cake (OMG) and orange dreamsicle (O-M-GAWD!). I ate literally every single crumb that was placed in front of me and plan on tasting ALL THREE on my wedding day.Next, Jay joins you on the sofa with his Mac Book to dream up your design. He can identify the pics you've ripped out of magazines before you tell him where they've come from and he'll advise you on how to make that cake look like your very own.Finally, receive estimate. Not so bad, really. Especially for all of the special service and attention you'll get. My wedding is in October so I'll post a photo of the final product then (and most likely a fifth star), for sure. But you'll see that we're talking about a really special cake here. Jay Qualls proves you can have your one-of-a-kind cake and afford it, too.After selecting a cake design, I found something that I liked much better later in the planning process. Jay didn't know how a technique for creating the design I found but he researched until he found one and it was absolutely beautiful. Several friends have said that they hope I don't mind if they copy the design ... what a way to flatter! All in all, we were thrilled with Jay.

Maples wedding cake was is wonderful. Several people commented that it was the best wedding cake they had ever had. We were disappointed in the carrot cake as it is really more of a spice cake and it did not have cream cheese icing. The Monogram was left off our cake as well. Otherwise we were very pleased.

I've had to eat a lot of wedding cake in my time and most of them look good, but taste dry and bland. My favorite of Jay's is his sour cream almond pound cake. My cake was exactly what I imagined and more. It could not have been more perfect, and it tasted great!

My cake may very well have been my favorite part of my wedding. I had heard by word of mouth about Maples and decided to make an appointment after having some very disappointing previous cake tastings. I wanted a cake that looked amazing, but tasted just as good as it looked. I love the look of fondant, but I'm not a fan of how it tastes. That was, until MY wedding cake! I don't know how Jay does it, but his fondant just melts in your mouth. I had trouble cutting the cake because it was so beautiful, but eating it was well worth it! I recently ran into Jay at a bridal show I was attending with a friend who is getting married and it looks like his business has grown quite a bit since I used him...his booth was mobbed!

My caked looked fine... I wanted a cake that stood out so I used some colors on mine. I brought in a picture that I wanted them to match.. They did a good job of the design but by the time for the wedding, the cake had melted a little bit and was leaning to one side!!! I just cut it as quickly as I could.... other than that, I was happy...

Jay was wonderful, I had the most beautiful cake, and exactly what I had wanted!
