Marci Curtis - Wedding Photojournalist

Marci was absolutely phenomenal. She was on time, very friendly and our photos turned out WONDERFUL. A lot of our friends got married over the summer and are still waiting on their pictures, we had ours by the next week when we got home from our honeymoon! I would HIGHLY recommend Marci!!

Marci was a phenomenal photographer! It was amazing to me that no-one at our wedding really noticed that she was there! It was awesome. She was more than willing to do anything we wanted to do, and without direction was able to catch all of our special moments. I would not hesitate to recommend Marci, or use her services again. One other definite plus of her services is that she gave us rights and copies of EVERY photo. We received our DVD of imagines only ONE WEEK after our wedding! Marci is awesome!

Where to start...maybe by just saying that Marci was fantastic!! She was really flexible when we were discussing her service agreement, which my parents appreciated a whole lot. We loved her enthusiasm for her profession and of course the beautiful pictures we looked at on her blog. We were sold from day 1 on having her document our wedding day!Marci is seriously Superwoman. She comes for 8 hours and took over 2000 photos, which I have no idea how any one person can physically get through! She also was super fast on getting our pre-ceremony, ceremony, and cocktail hour photos ready for a slide show at our reception! I caught guests just standing around and watching the photos scroll by on the projector screen, and was really happy that we had that opportunity. We also had her daughter, Skye, set up a sort of photo booth in our cocktail hour space with tons of props. When I got my photos back from Marci (less than 2 weeks later, by the way!) I immediately loved my decision to have Skye there too. Our guests were able to let loose and be a little silly for our photo guest book in the photo booth!Overall, Marci's photos turned out fantastically, we didn't have any issues with her being in the way, and the photo booth was a hit of the party! Definitely check her out!

I wish I could give Marci more than 5 stars! She is a great and experienced photographer (she's also affordable)! Any bride who is going through a roller coaster of emotions (feeling anxious, overwhelmed, excited like me) during their big day will feel at ease with Marci. (She also helped me and my bridesmaids with my dress!)She is easy-going, funny, down-to-earth, and very professional! She takes many kinds of photos (pose, candid, whatever will make you laugh or cry later...and did I mention they are high quality?) that she is truly able to capture it and tell your story. She took over 1,400 photos during our wedding and it was great to see her take shots of not only the wedding party but also candid/pose photos of our guests, friends, and families! She provides you with your own photo rights (a big plus!), which makes it easier for you to print on your own. She gave us back our finished photos in less than 2 weeks! Your wedding is very important and you want someone who has a good eye to capture it. I highly recommend Marci Curtis! You will not be disappointed. Did I mention she is also funny?

Marci has been amazing to work with! She is a professional individual who knows how to have fun without ever being awkward. I will say that the thing I loved most about working with Marci was that of everyone I talked to leading up to the wedding, Marci actually made me look forward to the wedding!!! Imagine that! Someone who wasn't pressuring me, asking me about all the little details that I didn't really have any control over. Marci is fun individual to be around, and a great photographer! Very much worth the price to preserve the happiest day of your life!

I don't think I can actually say enough great things about Marci. Her pictures were amazing, and we got them back within a week! She was so flexible even with our crazy schedule! Her style is so great and she captures the best moments of the day. I can't stop looking at my pictures. My husband pretty much hates getting his picture taking but still commented on how great Marci was. The slide show she puts up at the reception was such a nice touch too! Tons of guests commented on that! I will use Marci for any photography I need in the future!

Marci was fantastic to work with and she produces amazing photos! I was thrilled that we had many backgrounds/venues to choose from. I love the fact that she was so prompt and had our CD's/DVD in our mailbox by the time we got back from our one week honeymoon! Marci - WE LOVE HER! She meets and exceeds any idea you may have about what a wedding photographer can do to capture your wedding day in photos.She not only creates great candid shots, but has a unique and creative way of finding and shooting all the unplanned, natural moments that occur, that others don't see-those are the precious treasures!She set up a download slideshow of the pictures up to the start of the reception, and they were just captivating, can't wait to see the rest. She is so easy going, you almost forget she is there. She was so flexible, staying late until all our photo needs were met.Her daughter Sky provide a fun interactive photo booth, that will create a photo guest book for the bride and groom, I don't think the booth was empty for the entire night! As mother of the bride- this couldn't make to happier to know the quality of her pictures were never a worry! Marci had also photographed our first daughter's wedding two years ago. It was easy to see why Marci was voted the best! When first meeting her, we liked how upfront she was and how honest she was about everything. She was so professional and helpful with any questions we had. Also, her work spoke for itself, seeing the gorgeous photographs that she took sold us on her! We used Marci for our November 2010 wedding. I was impressed with her blog, and another bride had recommended her to me. Unfortunately, I was not really impressed with the quality of the pictures she took the day of. I seriously am struggling to find three pictures worth blowing up and framing. The natural light was kind of iffy that day, due to it being relatively overcast (hello, november!). She did not bring any additional lights/external flashes to help offset the lighting problem, and as a result, we got almost no usable pictures from after the ceremony. The \\\"posed\\\" family shots are all really dark and grainy and we are pretty disappointed with them. At the reception, she spent a lot of time trying to capture detail shots, and did a great job of capturing pictures of our guests dancing and having candid moments. We have great pictures of our guests, but not any great pictures of the two of us. To be completely honest, I didn\\\'t feel any kind of connection with Marci on a personal level. I feel like she is a production line wedding photographer and shoots so many weddings that she doesn\\\'t stop and \\\"get\\\" what each wedding is really about. She didn\\\'t do an accurate job \\\"covering\\\" my wedding. Thankfully other guests got some pictures that we might be able to use. But when you shoot 3-5 weddings a week and then turn around and mail digital copies of prints within 2 weeks that gives you little to no time to professionally edit the images. We used her daughter, Skye, for the fauxtobooth and she did an amazing job. Everyone loved her. If you go with Marci as your wedding photographer , I would highly recommend hiring Skye as well.

Marci was professional, enthusiastic, funny, and somehow seemed to be everywhere at once. We received our pictures a week after the wedding despite a holiday weekend between, and they are beautiful! Marci perfectly balanced artistic flare with capturing candid photos of friends and family that we'll always treasure. She was unobtrusive at the wedding and went so far as to lay down on a cold sidewalk in November to get great pictures of our wedding party-- what a trouper! Loved working with her and would hire her again for anything!

When I met with Marci Curtis over a year ago..I told her that in my opinion, the photos of our wedding was the most important to us because it tells our story of the most special day in our lives. I was NOT disappointed! Marci took the most beautiful pictures of our day and captured moments that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. My husband and I were thoroughly impressed with Marci's talent and style. She drove to three different sites to get all the shots we wanted and she even had a an emergency "tool belt" of scissors and other items when I needed it. She was punctual and professional and she made my husband and I feel relaxed. Our guests commented that they didn't even notice that she was there taking pictures, even while she got wonderful candid shots of us and our guests. I've already recommended her to one friend and will continue to do so!

What can we say?! We LOVED Marci!! She was 100% helpful and seriously just amazing! Helpful, because in the middle of our planning process we decided to switch ceremony venues and we reached out to her for some ideas that we maybe hadn't thought of; she was prompt and more than willing to offer great suggestions. The pictures that she captured of our day were simply stated - gorgeous! We have over 1,700 pictures to choose from - wow! We just love the fact that all of the pictures are ours to print until we can't print no more! :o) Her daughter Skye ran the photobooth for us and she was just a joy too! After seeing the pictures we've had several guests, say I didn't even know that she was there; she really does just seem to hide away, but still captured all of the moments that we would have otherwise missed! Marci was AWESOME!! Not only did she document our entire day from start to finish in pictures, but she was there to help me with my dress when it got stepped on and ripped, and almost acted as a "day-of" wedding planner. She's a great photographer and really did get pics of EVERYTHING, even the things we had no idea were going on. She anticipated things that were going to happen, and captured each moment as it unfolded. She took tons of candid shots, which is what we were looking for. Wouldn't have changed our photographer for the world!

My fiance and I were planning our wedding for Labor Day weekend and thought that we would have a hard time finding a photographer to work around the holiday weekend, but when we contacted Marci she was more than willing to work with us. She was prompt, professional, and a pleasure to work with. After all the formalities (ceremony, group shots, etc.) I didn't even know she was there. She blended with the crowd and managed to take beautiful pictures. She did a great job of capturing the small moments. All in all Marci was wonderful and so was her photography.

Marci was AMAZING! She is professional and great at what she does! My husband called her a ninja because she got so many photos and we never knew she was there. Marci did an AMAZING job at our wedding. The photos we received were gorgeous. Marci was on time, funny, upbeat, and made a very nervous and worrisome bride at ease and relaxed. She even got out her "emergency bridal kit" when I was tripping over the lining in my dress, and pinned it so I was comfortable! Marci goes above and beyond and acts as your friend too, which was so great! I cant tell you how many compliments we received from family and friends about Marci. I used Marci for boudoir photos as a gift for my husbands birthday and would highly recommend her. She was very professional and while photos like those can obviously be a bit awkward they weren't since she was so easy going. She is also VERY accommodating, the photos were a last minute idea (very last minute). My husbands birthday was on a Wednesday and she did them for me the Monday before, since I needed them that day she put them on a cd for me in the following hour. Another perk of using her is that she has a deal set up with a local hotel to use one of their rooms for a couple hours where as most photographers I found would only do them out of your home and that wasn't an option for me since my husband was going to be home during the day.

I just got married on 8/14/2010. Marci was such a great photographer!! She was on time, which I am personally very anal about and she was really fun to work with. She got all of the traditional posed shots we wanted but also many shots in her photojournalism style. We have about 1500 pictures and she got us the cds in less than 2 weeks! Everyone who has seen our photos love them! Even in a hot, sweaty, 100% humidity day Marci stayed very upbeat and helped us to get some great outdoor pictures when I felt like giving up many times. I love her creativity and cannot wait to use her again in the future!

We are so happy with our pictures! Marci did an amazing job of capturing our wedding day just as it happened. We loved her photojournalistic approach. We were able to go about our day and she was right there to capture all the small moments so we didn’t miss a thing. I first saw Marci Curtis' work at my friend's wedding in Michigan. As soon as I became engaged, Marci was one of the first people I called. I live in Chicago and have access to some fantastic photographers but I was set on having Marci capture our special day. Her pricing was comparable to many vendors in Chicago but I felt confident in hiring her because of having seen her work first hand at my friends wedding. I quickly realized that her schedule was extremely busy but I was thankful that I planned ahead.Throughout the planning period, Marci was extremely easy to contact and a pleasure to work with. She actually brought a sense of calm and humor to the entire process of wedding planning. She was receptive to my personal requests and honored them the day of my wedding. Many of my family and friends commented how wonderful our photographer was and they thoroughly enjoyed the photo slide show she presented during the wedding!! Within one week of my wedding, I received over 1300 photos from Marci. The photos were incredible and I have been having a blast showing them off to everyone! My husband and I had Marci recommended to us by another vendor. After going to her website and looking through the photos there, I was very impressed with how many quality candid shots she was able to gather, as well as the originality of many of the posed pics. I also love the fact that you get the rights to ALL of your pictures, which are very high quality and digital. Marci was very professional in all her dealings with us, and everyone in both of our immediate families mentioned to us how friendly they thought she was. She also wasn't the least bit phased when the bride and groom were running late for their own wedding and other unplanned events just sort of happened as the day progressed. She just seemed to be in the right place at the right time the entire day. Our pictures were delivered within two weeks and were absolutely wonderful! It is going to be so difficult to choose which ones I want to use to make photo books and prints. Marci got shots of everything that I could have wanted (and more!) including all our wedding details (cake, flowers, etc.), the progression of our ceremony, family group pictures, great candid shots of friends and relatives at the reception, and oodles of wonderful pictures of my husband and I.

Marci was awesome to work with! I was a bit nervous about having her start at my parents house where my parents, bridemaids, flower girl and myself were getting ready, because I knew tension would be running high. As Father of the Bride and our family's primary photographer for 30 years, I was very intrigued by Marci's services when my daughter told me she and her fiance found her over the internet. I was skeptical as one might imagine, but once I did my research on Marci's website, she hit a lot of "hot buttons" that were important to me. First, the photo journalistic approach was a bit unique and it showed in the examples of her work. Secondly, the willingness to give the customer rights to reproduction of the photos without having to go through her was extremely attractive. Actually my mind wandered a bit at that point thinking about all of the various ways in which we could use my daughter's photos in the future. The digital technology coupled with the scrolling photos of the wedding during the reception just sounded way too cool and, again, unique. The idea of a photo booth at the wedding reception, while initially sounding a little "corny," ultimately resonated with me. When I thought of people enjoying their favorite adult beverages and loosening up a bit as the night went on, I knew it would be a huge hit. And lastly, the deposit Marci asked for was very reasonable and the refund arrangements in the event of something negative happening seemed a reasonable risk worth taking.So let me say that from my perspective, Marci is second to nobody when it comes to her trade and profession. She is so unbelievably accommodating and creative during the wedding and reception, that you would have thought that she was my daughter's favorite aunt or close relative. Marci caught some unbelievably precious, endearing, loving, and funny photos throughout the day and night. Everybody that came in contact with Marci and Skye that day and night were very positively impressed and said many wonderful things about the two of them. The scrolling photos of the wedding during the reception was a huge hit with the audience and the photo booth was an absolute "riot" as the night went on. The various "fashion accessories" that Marci and Skye brought along for the photo booth were an unexpected surprise and made the night an absolute blast, while being very tasteful as well.So take it from a Dad who paid the bill. The value of Marci's services rendered was a hundred times the cost of Marci's services. I would highly recommend you hire her if she is available. You will be very, very happy with Marci's services and work product and final deliverables. Guaranteed!!

Marci was the photographer at my cousins wedding. After seeing her work, we knew we wanted to go with her. Marci photos are from a photo journalist stand point, which captures more of the moment. The wedding guests loved the slide show she setup after dinner. She is just so easy to work with. Marci felt more like a member of the wedding party than just another vender. We were so happy with her, we already recommended her to another couple for their wedding. We will also keep her in mind for other photographer needs.The photo booth was the best $300 we spent in the whole wedding. Family and friends loved the photo booth. Skye was easy to work with and captured some great moments. I would highly recommend the photo booth, much better than just putting cameras on the tables.

We were married on 12/18, we had our disks of photos back to us before Christmas and because we own the rights to our photos, we were able to give each of our parents a digital picture frame with the wedding photos on it for Christmas. They were blown away and it was the best gift we could have given them (besides a grandchild of course :-))

I was overwhelmed at trying to find the 'right' photographer and was referred to Marci by two brides AND a family friend. I am delighted I was led in the right direction. I never had difficulty in contacting her and she was right on time camera snapping on the wedding day. She is as invasive or invasive as you want her to be. We were very happy with Marci Curtis. I never had a problem getting a hold of her. I always got quick responses to my emails. She was always friendly and easy to deal with. We and a lot of our guests were impressed with the slide show that she set up during the reception. Everyone enjoyed seeing a sampling of the pictures taken earlier in the day. Most importantly, I loved the pictures and I received them soon after the wedding.

Marci was so much fun to work with! She had a great attitude and took beautiful pictures. When my husband and I got back from our honeymoon we had over 1200 pictures to go through! If anyone in the metro Detroit area needs a photographer, I am recommending Marci!

Marci was absolutely awesome to work with for three main reasons: 1) great quality work, 2) easy to understand pricing and contract, and 3) terrific personality. If you check out her website, it exactly reflects her style, her philosophy...and just who she is. She put me at ease from the moment I first corresponded with her, and she's hilarious, which makes the photo shoots that much easier and more fun. In sum, great work for the price, which happens to be a great price relative to others I researched. I would recommend her anyday. Marci Curtis was the photographer for my 9/26/09 wedding---she was fantastic!!!! She had done the photography for my cousin's wedding and I loved their photos, so I immediately booked her for mine. Marci is AWSOME. She was very helpful in the planning stages offering lots of helpful suggestions about what works and doesn't for both the photos and the logistics of it all. She was very flexible and obviously interested most in what we wanted out of our wedding photos (not in pushing her ideas of what wedding photos should be, like other photographers we had met). Our Pictures turned out FANTASTIC. We couldn't be happier with them. We actually had a friend doing the video taping and the camera died just before I walked down the isle, booo. We were really sad about it, until we got Marci's pics. She took so many beautiful pictures we didn't need a video.Marci also provided a photo booth at our reception run by her daughter. Everyone loved the photo booth, and Marci's daughter was a very nice and even took it upon herself to help the groom setup the center pieces before the ceremony. A big thanks to Sky.I am very happy we hired Marci. Our only difficulty has come after the wedding. We have so many favorite pictures we can't decide wich ones to get printed. Marci was fantastic to work with. We looked at countless webpages and portfolios while trying to find a photographer for our wedding, and were both impressed when we found Marci's. Her photojournalistic style clearly tells a story and seemed to capture real emotion from moment to moment. She was gracious enought to meet with us ahead of time so we could make sure she would be a good fit for us, which of course she was! We liked her down-to-earth style as well as her straightforward, reasonably priced services (no packages, etc.). We also liked that we would own our own images after the event. In the months leading up to our wedding, Marci was very approachable (via email since we lived 3000 miles and three time zones away) and friendly. She was an excellent communicator and came across as very together and enthusiastic. Marci always provided prompt responses to my inquiries (which was surprisingly not the case with some of our other vendors). On our actual wedding day, Marci showed up early and was ready to shoot within moments. Throughout the events, she was fun, unintrusive, and highly tuned in to who or what should be photographed in the moment. My mom commented that as soon as my dad referenced her during his toast, Marci had her camera right on her for her reaction. As the bride, I hardly even noticed her being around. When we received our images, though, it was clear she had been all around! Marci captured so many wonderful moments from our day that I did not even recall or had not noticed. Overall, we were both very pleased and would highly recommend her.

Marci did a great job! She always sent emails back to me very quickly which is nice during your planning. Our pictures were at our house just a few days after our wedding!! And the pictures are all amazing.

When it comes to your wedding, you want everything to go perfectly. Choosing a photographer is one of the biggest decisions a couple can make, because after the wedding has come and gone, you will ALWAYS have your pictures. Marci was the BEST choice we made! She responded every email, every question, and didn't have any "hidden" small type. She was very forward with what you would be receiving, her portfolios were awesome! My now husband and I watched them all the time. I always checked her websites to see what new pictures/weddings she did. At our wedding, she greeted us when we arrived, she was spunky, upbeat, and had a good time. I didn't even really see her at the reception, but boy was she there! We got our pictures in the mail like 4 days after the wedding and she caught just about everything! I would highly recommend her services to anyone!

Marci Curtis was ABSOLUTELY by far the best choice we made for the wedding. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. I had a few other vendors I enjoyed but This was the absolute best money we spent. Her photos were amazing and we NEVER had to tell her what to do or where to be or hey can we get this? I also happened to book her for a boudoir session and had SO much fun doing it, absolutely no feelings of being self conscious! She's a fantasically talented photographer and between her and her daugther..I genuinely don't think the day would've been the same without them. The pictures can make you smile and cry and laugh out loud. People are still telling me how much fun the photo booth was and how it was such a good idea. They even got people who NEVER get in photos to join in! Even though we live out of state we are even recommending her here!! This is definitely a person we will go to for future photo ops..she's worth a heck of a lot more than she charges;) We are SO glad they was a part of our wonderful day!

We found Marci via a google search and her photo galleries online instantly connected with us. We booked her right away. We live in Texas and needed a Michigan photographer so we had to book without meeting her. Her personality though shined through in her portraits and her emails she traded with us. We had her shoot the wedding and her daughter handled the photo booth area. We brought a bunch of funny hats, fake moustaches, sunglasses for our guests to don and goof off. I think more people had fun in the wedding booth than the actual wedding :). Our pics were waiting for us by the time we got back from our honeymoon and the pictures are just beautiful. I'm a guy and they bring tears to my eyes. Marci was the ONE vendor that we were 100% completely satisfied with. We liked her so much, we gave her our box of props and the remainder of our wedding cake. Look no further, this is your photojournalist.

Marci Curtis photographed my daughter's wedding in June, 2009. She did an amazing job! She captured the 'feel' of the event and her photos were very creative. We opted to have the 'photo booth' at the reception and it was a definite plus. People loved it! Give someone a silly hat and a picture frame and they lose their inhibitions. It was so much fun! Marci provided us with over 1800 photos and they were ours to share and do whatever we wanted. I had trouble picking out photos to print because they were ALL great. This was a very economical option and convenient as guests came from all over the country/world. It was a pleasure working with her and she was very flexible as the bride/groom live in Europe and much of the 'talking' was done on line. I totally recommend Marci.

We loved Marci. She captured so many great natural shots and took care of all of the staged ones we wanted. The extra photo booth option allowed us to get more photos of our guests having a good time; it's reassuring to see people having a good time at your wedding after the fact. "My daughter found Marci online and asked me what I thought about the photos she took. After the first few photos I viewed, I started crying. I thought that was answer enough to her question! When I began the search for my wedding photographer, I knew that I wanted more of a photojournalistic approach to my pictures. Marci was recommended to me by another photographer who happened to be booked on my wedding day. The one word to describe my wedding photos would be GORGEOUS. I love them. My husband and I can't stop looking at them. She was fun and captured moments where I didn't remember her being there!

That way you can make your own album and print pics out to keep and give to your family and friends. Marci was amazing and perfect! We wanted a photographer that captured candid shots of true expressions during our special day. She managed to shoot over 2,000 pictures without being intrusive at all! Many of my guests thought she had left for the day and didn't realize that she was just standing off to the side capturing everyone from a distance! The pictures were priceless! There are many important aspects for your wedding, and although I think the ceremony is the most important - great pictures are so key to remembering the wonderful day as it unfolds! And I have always considered photography so important as well. I have worked with Marci many times and she has always provided a fun and caring environment for the couple - and her work is always a treat for the eye. Pictures are so important at keeping the wonderful memories of the day alive. But also important is a wonderful relationship and experience with your photographer, as you will spend more time with this vendor the day of your wedding than anyone else. But the difference between a 'vendor' and a 'wedding professional' - is the quality of the work and person, and Marci is a fun, caring, and quality wedding photography professional. Wedding photography is incredibly crowded with amateurs and poor photographers with decent photoshop skills. Marci Curtis really stands out as one of the very few photographers out there that takes great pictures straight out of the camera. She can do this because she has the experience, knowledge and good equipment to properly light a reception room and, she actually really knows how to work her camera (scary that this is a rare thing....but it really is!). Besides her strong technical skills, Marci is unobtrusive, professional, fun, easy to work with, and most important: you can count on her to deliver GREAT work.
