Mariah Nicole Makeup & Hair Artistry

Mariah did my makeup for a party over 7 years ago, and when it came to choosing my makeup artist for my wedding I knew I had to use Mariah. I wasn't even sure how to find her since I didn't remember her last name but a quick internet search and I was on my way. (She had many great reviews on yelp!)The main reason I wanted Mariah is that her makeup looks beautiful both in photographs and in person. After all, what's the point of having great photos if you look like a freak in person? And how many times have we thought we looked great only to appear washed out in the photos?Mariah was very helpful at my trial. We went over the look I wanted, all of the details, etc. She gave great input and really listened. I told Mariah that I wanted to look like myself, but on my best day. The makeup looked natural yet brought out my best features. The makeup lasted all day and night and did not cause me to break out. (I break out very easily, which tends to be a problem when you are looking for long-lasting makeup!)Sure, there are cheaper makeup artists out there, but this is one area where I would not cut corners. For the quality, experience and professionalism, Mariah is a worth every penny! I felt so beautiful on my wedding day and I love the way I look in all of my pictures!

Mariah Nicole was absolutely amazing. She was great to work with--easy to talk to (you will spend a lot of time with your makeup artist!), funny, flexible, and incredibly talented. Every one of my bridesmaids raved about their experience with her. I hope to work with her again soon!

Mariah Nicole is great at what she does. My hair and make-up both looked great for the entire day and night of my wedding. I received many compliments on it, it was exactly the look I was going for simple and classic. My make-up didn't melt off and my hair stayed in place. Mariah was really easy to work with. She's young and has a good vibe. I wasn't totally sold on my hair during our first session so I booked a second just in case. I was so frazzled with last minute wedding details that I didn't pay much attention to my hair but wasn't totally in love with it. BUT - the day of, she TOTALLY rocked it. Everything was perfect when it counted. My makeup was flawless and stayed on from pictures at 4 PM, through dancing the night away until 1 AM. My hair stayed curled, was flexible and never failed. I am super happy that I booked Mariah - she made me look beautiful on my wedding day!

Mariah was excellent! I highly recommend her, she did my hair, plus 8 other girls, for my wedding in May...she is truly gifted in her field. She was punctual, and stayed on top of everything, listened to what the girls wanted , and was definitely a pleasure to work with. She was availible for any questions I had, and also was able to accommodate 2 extra people which saved my life that crazy morning. Definitely someone you want in your corner the morning our your wedding!

I can not recommend Mariah Nicole enough. She did an amazing job with my wedding day makeup, as well as makeup for my mom and mother-in-law. Before the wedding, we did a consultation where she tried out products and created a cheat sheet so we could do the same things on my wedding day.On the actual day, Mariah arrived on time and was friendly and calm, which we needed! She was great to chat with while she worked, she did a fabulous, professional job, and she made everyone look like a million bucks.My makeup remained perfect throughout a loooong day - she did my makeup around 2pm, and it was still rocking when the reception ended, after 2am. I would hire her again in a heartbeat for another event.

Mariah was amazing! She is sweet and professional. My hair held up from 11am until 3am when I finally took it down!Everyone was impressed with the hair. She was very responsive and friendly. She even made sure that I ate before my wedding, and a real meal, she didn't let me get away with combos! She traveled from West Hollywood to Long Beach so I did not have to drive anywhere on my wedding day.She also did different hair styles for my girls instead of making everyone look the same. If you want to look beautiful you must call Mariah!!!!!!

Mariah did my wedding day make-up as well as all the bridesmaids. I have never received so many positive comments before. I felt perfectly natural and beautiful on my most special day. I can never have my make-up done again, as it can never look as good it did that day!

Mariah is awesome! Mariah did a tremendous job on my makeup and hair on my wedding day. I have to say that I really did look my best that day. She was always quick to offer her opinions and didn't shy away if she thought something didn't look the most complementary. Others who also had their makeup done that day loved her work. Mariah was also very patient, as I wasn't the most decisive bride. She was fun to have around, as she's fun and hip and just a cool chick!

Mariah Nicole is a wonderful makeup artist. She is really great at giving you a really natural look. I felt like my makeup looked beautiful on the day of the wedding.

My complaint about her is that I didn't think that she was very professional. She had a hard time figuring out how much time she was going to need to do my hair and makeup and all my bridesmaids' hair and makeup. My coordinator kept trying to get her to solidfy how much time she was going to need so we could make the final schedule, and it basically took until 2 days before the wedding to get that info from her. She also promised me that she was going to stay until the reception and then 5 days before the wedding she told me that something came up and that she doesn't even remember telling me that she was going to stay until the reception. We had even talked about doing two different hairstyles for the wedding (down for the ceremony, and up for the reception)! When I reminded her of that, she told me that there would have been another charge for another hairdo! She had never told me that before, and that seems kind of ridiculous since we are paying her to be there!

Also, at my second hair trial, she told me that the price was actually more than the first hair trial (by 2 times!). She never told me this prior to the hair/makeup trial, so I of course assumed it was the same price as the first one. She told me that the reason was because she is trying to get clients to sign up with her at the first hair trial, and by the second hair trial since they are already her client, she doesn't need to give a discount. She said that the second hair trial is like going to get your hair and makeup done as a full service. I don't understand what part of "trial" she didn't understand. I literally took my hair down before she even walked out of our house. I wasn't going to walk around town with my hair in an updo! She did finally agree to let us pay the same discounted price as the first updo. "Discount" is all relative though. Her discounted rate was still about $150! She wanted to charge me $300!!! You would think that she would want to keep her brides happy and that she would take into consideration that it was a trial and that we are paying a lot for her services later.

On the day of the wedding, I had a mini disaster with her. Throughout the 2 trials with her, I wasn't totally in love with my hair, but I thought it was fine. I thus kept trying to look for different hairstyles in magazines to maybe show her. I talked to my usual hairdresser in boston, and she gave me the great idea of having an asymmetrical look ('cuz my face is kinda crooked). She showed me the idea on my hair really quickly when I went in for a haircut, and I loved it! I told Mariah Nicole about it and she said that she totally understood what I wanted. While it was probably my fault for changing what I wanted on the day of the wedding, she was not very accomodating when I realized she just couldn't do what I wanted. I was not thrilled with the way my hair ended up looking and she said that I did not have enough hair to make my hair do exactly what I wanted. I then told her to just change it to the original updo we had done at the last trial (just a simple chignon), and she refused to change it. It literally would have taken her about 15 minutes to move the updo from the side to the center! Anyway, everyone still told me I looked beautiful, but I just didn't feel like I looked my best!

My bridesmaids were for the most part happy with what she did. Out of 6 bridesmaids, one girl hated her makeup, and one girl hated her hair, but I guess you can't please everyone!

All in all, she is probably a great artist, but seemed to lack maturity with her business skills.

Mariah did an excellent job for my wedding! My hair and makeup looked perfect for the entire night and she was able to create the exact style that we discussed.

I'll never go to anyone else for my makeup and hair than Mariah. She's the BEST!
