Mark Phinney

Mark was fantastic at my 9/13/2008 wedding. He was really easy to work with, and was always responsive via email. My husband and I did a hip hop routine as our first dance and Mark even mixed the song the way we wanted it for free. He even called me several times to make sure the mix was the way we wanted it. He followed my do not play list, and played all the right songs. I'm only knocking one star off because he didn't play several songs off of my must play list, but it wasn't a really big deal because his set lists were great anyway. People were on the dance floor all night long, and most of our 244 guests stayed until the reception ended at midnight! I would recommend Mark in an instant.

Mark rocked! He was professional, on time, his equipment had no problems, he took requests, and he kept the dance floor full the entire night!! What more could you ask of your ideal wedding DJ?

Mark was great! He did a great job with the music. Everyone was on the dance floor shaking it just like I had asked him. I would recommend Mark in an instant.

Mark was professional and helpful during the entire process. We contacted him 4-6 months before the wedding, and he was able to meet us at our local Starbucks to go over the logistics. His prices were the cheapest I've seen.

On the day of the wedding, he arrived promptly to set up early for the ceremony and the reception. Thanks!

Mark Phinney did a phenomenal job at our wedding. We had a mix of Indian and Western music, in both the ceremony and reception, so we did not have the typical music requests. Mark was on top of it all and despite some things I had read about him having technical issues with microphones, everything worked great for us. Mark definitely kept the reception going with a good mix of both Indian and Western music to keep people on the dance floor. He is not an intrusive or cheesy DJ at all. And his price can’t be beat! We thought Mark did a great job for us and would gladly recommend him to anyone.

Mark was so so so great!! He was BY FAR cheaper than any of the other DJs I contacted, but still provided great service! He not only had our dance floor packed all night, he also served as a coordinator between all of the other vendors. He made sure we stuck to our timeline so that we did not even have to think about it.

Once of the nicest things he did, which was a total surprise to me, was that he had our caterer plate food just for the head table, so that we had time to SIT and eat while everyone else went through the buffett line. It sounds miniscule, but after pictures, the ceremony, more pictures, etc, this was really one of the highlights of the night for me. I was SO tired of standing!

Mark is not a big talker (on the mic), which I REALLY appreciated. He even traded using the mic to release tables to the buffett for table-by-table personal invitations. We had many many people comment on how nice it was for him to do that.

We used Mark for our ceremony music and reception. People warned me about possible microphone issues earlier but due to the small size of our site, mics were a nonissue to us. He played what we wanted to play and was very easy to work with. I found Mark easy to work with and schedule appointments with- I guess it helps that we literally live down the street from him.

For the price though, he can't be beat.

I don't actually know how good of a DJ Mark is because we didn't book him, but he was a top contender because of his low rates. Unfortunately, I found it very difficult to work with him. He said he was available for our wedding date, but it seemed impossible to schedule a meeting with him. He never offered to come down to see us. So we tried to be flexible, were willing to go to him, or meet halfway, and schedule around his events, but when things weren't progressing, my fiance finally told me to move on.

I did, however, check out his references. So I'll share what I learned.....One bride mentioned to me that there was a slight issue with the microphones, but she still thought he did a good job and would still recommend him. However, the mic issue bothered me because I didn't want the mics screeching in the middle of us saying our vows or something. So the other brides that I talked to, while they didn't initially mention any problems with the mic, when I specifically asked them about it, then they confirmed there was an issue. However, all seemed to think it was just a minor glitch and all still recommend him. One even made a comment, you get what you pay for. He's good, but not the best.

I have referred and worked with Mark several times. He is professional, easy and wonderful to work with. I hope to refer him again and work with him again.
