Marylinn's Couture Bridal
I had an absolutely wonderfull experience here. It was the first and only place I looked for a dress. My first visit was when I bought it, the second was for alterations, and the third will be to pick up the dress the day before the wedding.
Beautiful gowns. Be prepared to be nickled and dimed for every little service. They will try to sell you incredibly overpriced accessories. That being said, I got an amazing dress and they tailored it to fit like a dream.
I wish my wedding dress experience went smoothly, but not everything goes according to plan. I should of read the reviews to this place before I went in and purchased my dress from this business. There were some positives like the fact that you had to make an appointment with this company. It was nice to have someone personally help me find the perfect dress. The employees are really nice but my opinion changed the day of my dress fitting. I purchased an expensive dress that I fell head over heels for. I was having second thoughts till the manager said that she would throw in free alterations, all to my liking, and free press and clean for the dress. I thought it was a great deal and decided to purchase the dress. (Note: Make sure that if they offer a really good deal for you, that it ends up on your receipt before you walk out that door!) Well, I came in five months later for my fitting to find out that I could only have some alterations done to my dress. I really wanted to make it a sweethearts dress and fix the bust but it was way too expensive. I told the lady who was helping me that I was promised free alterations of any kind and her response was, "It's not on your receipt. You can only have the hem and waist done." I was so upset, but what could I do? I've read some similar bridal stories like this and didn't think it would happen to me, but it did. Then I came in for my final fitting and thought my dress would be pressed and clean, but I was wrong. I was offered to get my dress cleaned but not pressed. Again, it was not on my receipt. I still love my dress, but the stress and the deception of this company was not worth it! Some brides have had a good experience with this company, but unfortunately I wasn't one of them.
I don't really write many reviews, but this place was great! I am mainly writing this review, however, for my consultant - Liz.... I really thought she was awesome.
I had been to two dress shops before this in December last year, and didn't decide to get anything at either place. They weren't bad experiences, but they weren't anything special, either. I didn't really know what I wanted at the time, either... so I think maybe it was just me.
So firstly, this place is beautiful. The floors, chandeliers... so pretty! I was a bit overwhelmed, but in a good way. It's also in a great location, if you want to go here and then get a bite to eat with your girls afterwards.
I went into this place (Sat 2/4/12) totally not expecting to find anything in my budget, but I did! They were with me right away, even though it was a Saturday (and I had an appt but I figured I'd have to wait with such a popular place). Liz asked me immediately what I liked, and what my price point was, and didn't pull anything even a little over my budget. My girls and I got to walk around and pick things, too. They had all of the new dresses that I know other stores don't have. The first dress I tried on was AMAZING, and Liz knew just how to make it look that much more special. She knew all the right accessories that should go with it, and was honest with me about her opinion of the dress and what we could and could not do with it, should we change anything. I tried on two others, and didn't bother with the ones I knew I wouldn't like after the initial dress.
I would definitely recommend this play to other girls - the only reason I'm rating it a 4-star on Flexibility is because appts on Saturdays can only be an hour long, so there's not too much wiggle room for staring at the amazing dress you're wearing :)
Overall, though, Liz was great! She was so kind, and patient, and friendly, and most of all - honest with me. I didn't feel uncomfortable around her at all (as I sort of did with the others) and she was just so sweet! If you go here, request Liz - she'll help you find exactly what you're looking for!
The team at MaryLinn's was like family by the time my wedding day had come. The ladies there are awesome and very helpful. I selected a Pronovias gown that was the hit of my wedding. I was so happy with the selection of dresses there, the customer service and attention to detail at MaryLinn's.
I will start off by saying that my dress was as beautiful as it could have gotten (to me). I LOVED my dress, and I got many compliments on it, and many people asked me where I got it, etc. Marylinn's has beautiful dresses, but their attitude stinks.
The staff/ sales associates are extremely nice to you if you are shopping for a dress. But once you have purchased your dress, it is a whole different story. The staff was rude and unprofessional- let me break it down:
1. I purchased my dress in December, I did not get the dress until June!!!! 6 months for the dress to come in. Ridiculous.
2.The sales associate ordered my dress 2 sizes too big, I asked her why and she said that the dresses usually run "small". Not so, my alterations lady could have practially made a second dress with the amount of material she had to take off. (They order the dress bigger so that you have to spend money on alterations).
3. The front desk made a mistake and took a payment from my card without my permission. I refused to pay off the dress until I had it in my hands, so when I called to get a refund back I was told by a manager that she would call me back within 3 days for the approval. Not to my surprise, it was a week later and no phone call. For the following month I called repeatedly and still no answer. Additionally I was told I would received the dress early May. I did not get a refund back until a month later, and my dress arrived a month after the staff told me it would arrive.
I am a customer that appreciates honesty and accuracy, especially when planning my wedding. I loved my dress, but I wish it would have came with better service. Needless to say that I went elsewhere for my alterations.
P.S. I have another review on yelp. as you can see this boutique has low ratings, there is a legitimate reason why this is so.
I did not buy by dress at Marylinn's, but I had it altered there (at the Pasadena location). Everyone that works there is extremely friendly and nice. The first few times I came in I had to wait a very long time, but I realized it's because they only have one seamstress and she's extremely overworked. I also realized why she is so overworked...it's because she's wonderful! She really is good at what she does and she made all of the changes and alterations that I asked for (even scheduling more appointments than originally planned, so she could make sure it was perfect!). I highly recommend going to Marylinn's for your alterations, but don't wait until the last minute to schedule your appointments and please be patient with the seamstress...she has an incredibly touch job dealing with pushy brides ;) Oh yeah...There was one issue when I rescheduled my appointment over the phone, and when I showed up they didn't have me on their schedule. It was just a mix-up, but I would double-check to make sure they have your appointments properly scheduled because they do it all by hand (not on a computer system) and errors happen easily. Oh, and double check the bustle on your dress before you take it. I did a choreographed dance, and when I was practicing before the wedding, the buttons kept popping off and had to be re-sewn. It wasn't the end of the world, but just make sure it's strong enough to hold all night (I had a heavy dress with a large train). Otherwise, Marylinn's was great!
Loved my dress and I wouldnt have found it if it weren't for my consultant, Dawn. She listened to what I wanted and was able to find it for me, even though they didnt have it in the store. It was exactly what I wanted and I dont know how far I wouldnt have had to search if she hadnt fount it for me. 2.5 for flexibility bc the store hours are not too flexible. They're open late a few days a week, but no fittings on weekends...that was the only problem. Otherwise, their prices are fair.
Absolutely wonderful... I found the most beautiful Rosa Clara gown for my wedding at Marylinn's. Their staff was wonderful. Dawn was a sweetheart and made our appointment go smoothly.
I bought my dress during a sale - buy the sample and get free alterations + a veil. It ended up being a great great dress and deal! I LOVED the dress and it was the alterations that made the difference. There were a couple layers to the dress and it took many revisions to get it just right. In the end it looked perfect and I'm happy that she was able to get such a great fit on the dress. I spent a bit more than I expected, and definitely bought one of the least expensive dresses, but glad I went. Even if you think you might not find something reasonable, just try them out and go during a sale!
Although I found the dress of my dreams at Marylinn's Bridal, I would not recommend anyone go here to find their wedding dress. The service at all of my fittings was terrible. There were scheduling conflicts and I really didn't feel like the appreciated my business.
Oh where do I start. I loved loved loved my dress. They were so helpful with finding the right dress. My dress was non-name brand and everyone was dying to find out who made my dress. Everyone there was really sweet. They worked around my schedule when it came to fittings and absolutely made me feel like the most beautiful bride every time I tried it on. The boutique has a range of prices and a huge selection.
I went there on Black Friday for sample sale and found a brand new sample. I even got a free alteration! The dress was a bit heavy but stunning. I bought my dress and spend less money than renting. Everyone loved my dress! Every staff was friendly and helpful.
I am glad that I went with Marylinn's to get my wedding dress. My sister-in-law went there before me and had a good experience, so she recommended that I go. I got my dress in a Pronovias Trunk Sale, so it was 10% off. They are very experienced, and seem to know when the dress was right for me, even before I did. When I got the alterations done, the lady who did them was very professional and made a point to tell me that she was listening only to what I want, and not what my mom, my mother-in-law, and grandmother-in-law wanted when I was trying to make a decision. That was important to me. She didn't try to sway me one way or another, and just let me decide how to alter my dress the way I wanted it.
My only complaint is that on more than one occasion, they appeared to be somewhat disorganized, though nothing bad ever actually happened. For example, my MOH was coming into town and I called Marylinn's to let them know I would be coming in to show my MOH my dress. We went to the store when i said I would be there, and they told me that the dress was in a storage space and not in the store. I had them look again, and the dress was in fact in the store. Another time, on my second fitting, they told me that they didn't have my veil, and I didn't have my veil at home so I didn't know what happened to it. I was very anxious about it, but when I called the next day they said they did have it. Little things like that sometimes stressed me out with this place.
On a positive note, the store itself is beautiful and they have an incredible selection of dresses. Good luck!
I read some of the reviews on Yelp prior to coming here. You can understand the apprehension I felt but this place carries Maggie Sottero (the designer I THOUGHT I was going to wear but ended up with another killer gown) and it was close by.
With my little sister in tow, off we went on my first ever trip on trying on wedding gowns. It also turned out to be my last trip to any bridal gown store but I'm getting ahead of myself.
I read their website and did what they said - make an appointment. My consultant is Dawn (HI, DAWN!!!!!) and she was AWESOME!! My dress budget is woefully small but she never made me feel like I was a roach who wandered into their boutique by mistake. She pulled as many dresses off the sample sale rack as my little heart desired (ladies, sample sales are the way to go!) and patiently worked with me.
We chatted, we joked, we laughed and she always made me feel beautiful. She gave neutral advice when I asked, never tried to steer me into a style I didn't like or up-sell me on another gown that was still within my budget but clearly pricier than the one I had on.
Cecy is the assistant manager that helped me during my second visit and was nothing short of an absolute pleasure to work with too. She pulled a few gowns for me to try just so that I knew I was making the right decision. I never felt like I was inconveniencing her or that she'd rather be working with someone who could buy a dress from the crazy $,$$$ racks.
They never pressured me into buying and were always professional (yet fun and funny) people. I felt like I gained a few friends in this whole wedding planning craziness. The feeling was shared by my sister who is now convinced she's going to buy her wedding gown from this boutique with Dawn too.
I've since gone in multiple times for my fittings. The lady who does the alterations is patient, so sweet and very knowledgable. I am so amazed by the work she does and her attention to detail.
Every time I've stepped foot in the store, the ladies greet me by name and are genuinely happy to see me....and I bought a sample sale dress off the rack.
If my husband and I ever renew our vows, you can be sure I will be getting another gown from Dawn here.
By the way, I was so impressed by the staff and their service, I recommended them to a girlfriend of mine who agreed with my assessment because she also bought her dress...
I purchased my dress at Marylinn's. It was the only wedding dress store I went to and I bought the third dress I tried on (definitely one of those "this is it!" moments that I thought were fake). I enjoyed working with them and the seamstress as well. The person who helped me was very patient as I tried on dress after dress. The seamstress was also great and altered the dress very nicely. When I went to pick up my dress, I noticed that a lot of crystals were very loose and she fixed it for me on the spot...the only thing I forgot to check was the hook on the back of the dress (it was loose and it snapped off right as I put it on at the church). So, make sure to take a close look at the dress when picking it up. Other than that, I had a very nice experience with them and had a great time picking the dress!
My wedding coordinator from Fascinare, she recommended me to go to Marylinn to look for my wedding gown. I already look at many wedding dress salon and can't find anything. But it is really a good recommendation for me to come to Marylinn. They are so many dresses to choose from, and the sale person was really helpful. I describe to them and they instantly understand what I need and made a very good suggestion. I love Marylinn!
I had a very positive experience shopping at Marylin's!! In fact, I found my dream gown there :) I found the staff to be extremely professional, warm and friendly. They also have a wonderful selection and a fantastic seamstress!
I bought my dress here almost 2 years before my actual wedding because it was postponed. Luckily they stored my dress for that long which was very nice of them. I pre-paid to get it hemmed and bustled for $250. It was going to be $60 to sew in padding in the bra area so I optioned out of that. I ordered my dress 2 sizes smaller than was recommended for me because #1, I wanted to lose a little weight, and #2 because it had a corset back so it could be tightened or let out a few inches either way. I'm glad I got it 2 sizes too small because it fit perfectly. The staff is nice overall. Their shoes and accessories are ridiculously priced and so are their bridesmaids dresses, so go somewhere else for that stuff. But they have a nice selection of dresses, so I would recommend giving it a try.
Never ever go to this bridal salon. The sales people are ruder than rude. The seamstress is completely incompetent. She ruined my daughter's very expensive wedding gown and nothing was done about it.
MaryLinn's is a beautiful bridal store. It is the kind of place you want to by your dress from and I was excited every time I went there for a fitting, etc.My dress was beautiful. I bought the first one I tried on (even though I continued to try on others. They are extremely professional. The dresses are quality, well-made and beautiful. The alterations are perfect.
The reason I did not give them 5 stars in "quality of service" is because I was disappointed that they did not honor a coupon that I received thru another online wedding website literally days after I purchased my dress. The coupon offered a free pair of "Grace" shoes if you purchased a dress. Most companies will honor a coupon up until 2 weeks before the date. I felt that I bought so much stuff from them (my dress for $2500, my veil for $500, and my alterations for $800) that they should have honored this simple coupon and given me the shoes. I ended up ordering a pair of Grace shoes from a website and they only cost me $60, but it was still the principle.
I was a bit turned off by this- and it made me change my mind about ordering my bridesmaid dresses also from them. I was about to have all 10 of my bridesmaids order their dresses from Marylinn's (which were around $200 a piece). That would have been another $2000 sale for them, but since they wouldn't give me the shoes that they otherwise would have had I purchased my dress only days later, I looked elsewhere and had my bridesmaids order the very same bridesmaid dress from a different store. I ended up going with a store in my home state (where a majority of the girls still lived) for $30 less per dress.
That being said, I still highly recommend going there to look for your dress. I have referred every fellow bride-friend there. They have a big selection. They really cater to you thoroughly during your initial appointment and thru every fitting. My dress was altered to fit perfectly and was truly stunning. I just wish they honored that coupon.
My experience in picking my wedding gown was wonderful, CeCe was the woman I worked with and she was amazing. I had a vague idea of what I wanted and she pulled the perfect dresses. She even showed pulled a dress that was below my price point which was the one I ended up purchasing. I never felt that CeCe was trying to sell me on something that was beyond my budget. Every time I went in I was embraced by the staff and they were truly happy for me as my wedding date neared. Although my dress, which was made with extensive amount of lace had flaws, purely the fault of the designer, MaryLinn's helped me with every detail and were committed to making the dress perfect. Even having their seamstress work on Thanksgiving to make my dress ready for my wedding.
Nora helped me find my perfect dress. After trying on several styles that didn’t seem to work, Nora came back to the fitting room with a dress in hand and assured me she found the one…and she was right. I didn’t feel any pressure to buy since it was my very first time dress shopping. I was honest and said I wanted to look around first and Nora was very understanding. I tried on another half a dozen dresses and ended up going back to MaryLinns the very same day. Manya, the salon manager was always friendly. Susie tailored and pressed my dress to perfection. In retrospect, I think I could have found the same dress at a lower cost elsewhere (it was a classic style from a few years ago), but in the end, choosing MaryLinns gave me a peace of mind and quality experience. Overall, I was happy to be a MaryLinns customer.
I am really shocked to see that this store got such bad reviews from people. I had an amazing experience!! Cecy helped me and she was AWESOME! I went with my best friend and we had the best time. She showed me a ton of dresses and was patient with my decision making. They always remembered me when I came back for fittings and the gal that did the alterations was super cool. I had zero issues with MaryLinn's and would highly recommended them, they carry beautiful dresses.
Mary Linn's was definitely the worst "vendor" of my wedding planning experience. Their selection was terrible but I happened to ask if they had any of a specific brand. They had two and one ended up being my gown (which I loved). Nora is the only redeeming quality of this place, but overall the service was horrible. I had to call multiple times to get appointments for my fittings (they also failed to mention that they don't do weekend alteration appointments despite seeing my address as listed in San Diego, yes, I should have noticed it in the fine print but they still could have mentioned it). One time when they did agree to a Saturday fitting, and I arrived promptly at 9am as requested by the seamstress, she never showed and it was my FINAL fitting! Fortunately the dress did fit but it hadn't been pressed, which we had requested at the two fittings prior and were assured it would be taken care of, and the sash hadn't been cut to the correct length. Fortunately we were able to pull Nora in (our original sales lady) off the floor and she convinced the alterations people that they needed to get it done while we waited. Overall I loved my dress but would have purchased it elsewhere had I read any reviews on this place - HEED THE WARNINGS and go somewhere else!
MaryLinn’s Bridal did not quite give my bride the experience she was looking for. First, the positive. They have a unique selection that was within our price range. The negatives. Our price range was changed after alteration after alteration. It seems as though this is the way this company really makes their money. Once you’re already committed to a dress, they spring another alteration on you and you feel you have no choice. It brought my wife to tears on more than one occasion. If you’re not on a flexible budget and you don’t like dealing with the wedding dress equivalent of con artists, MaryLinn’s is probably not for you.
Marylinn's is a beautiful bridal salon with beautiful gowns!!! I had the pleasure of having Nora assist me in finding the PERFECT gown!! She was very friendly and knowledgeable. Right away, she sized me up and recommended flattering styles to my figure, all while staying within my price range. She was not pushy at all! If there was a dress I did not like, she put it away. I ended up buying an Ian Stuart "showstopper" dress I saw in the window. I did not second guess my dress decision at all and I have Nora to thank for that. Her encouragement, sense of style and bubbly/funny personality gave me confidence and made finding a gown a very fun and happy experience for me. My dress was AMAZING and looked beautiful in pictures. I got so many compliments. I have Nora and Marylinn's Bridal to thank for that!
This was by far one of the worst shopping experiences of my life. My appointment was for 11:00. I arrived about 10-15 minutes early. It was a Sunday and since they are by appointment only on Sundays had to be let in. I was told to look around to get an idea of what I'd like to try on and a room would be ready soon. I took a very slow walk around the entire store, circled back to the front to indicate to the saleswoman I was ready when she was and was ignored. I noticed that several other women had arrived and were told the same thing. I decided to talk another walk around the store and look at dresses again after all this is a wedding dress why not do another search. Again I circled the store went back to the area the saleswoman was concentrating on making her sale with another saleswomen (because you need to have two saleswomen to do that) and was yet again ignored.
I had no where to be for about two hours so at that point I was more curious to see how long it would take for anyone to make any sort of acknowledgment towards me or to the fact that I indeed had an appointment. NO ONE said a word to me I stood around with several other people being totally completely ignored and I mean not once did anyone say we're sorry for the wait we'll be with you in one moment, nothing from the moment I first walked in and she told me someone would be right with me. I had been there almost 1 hour, (it was 45 minutes from my actual appointment time), and it was at that point that I decided there was no chance they'd get a penny from me and I walked out, still no one flinched. I guess the store doesn't have to worry about treating customers terribly.
I first contacted Marylinn's in 2009 through e-mail inquiring about a designer I wanted to look into. They were very nice and told me what they had and encouraged me to book an appointment so I did. Unfortunately whoever replied back to confirm with me got the date and time mixed up, but I sorted it out and there weren't any problems after that.
I decided to visit them mid-day mid-week to avoid crowds and it was perfect! I had the whole store to myself. I even wondered why I even had to book an appointment if they were completely empty. When I first got there, I didn't get an initial "hello" until I went all the way up to the counter to announce that I had arrived and had an appointment. The lady pointed me in the direction of the designers I was interested in and I was allowed to browse the racks on my own and pull whatever I wanted. A few minutes later, my consultant came to greet me and asked me what type of gowns I was looking for. I told her some key words like "flowy", "whimsical" and she pulled 4 beautiful gowns for me and had 1 already ready for me in a room.
The Maggie, Demetrios and Mon Cheri racks were disappointing. I was hoping to find more of their original designs there but all they seemed to carry were either bland taffeta numbers or super gawdy blingtastic pick-ups. I'm sure they're catering to the clientele since those are popular designs but I couldn't help feeling disappointed that I went all the way out there to see the same boring ones I had already dismissed elsewhere. I ended up looking at the more high end designers and aside from 2 that I pulled, there weren't that many that caught my eye. Some were just too outrageously couture and not befitting of me or my venue and some were just too plain looking (despite the ginormous price tags). I have no idea if there is a dress-limit because I was never told but even if there was one I didn't need it since I could barely find anything to try on.
The consultant led me to a spacious room and helped me into and out of the dresses. I thought it was nice but I hated being constantly watched. I didn't have a minute to contemplate by myself since she was in there with me and when I was outside I had my mom and other consultants throwing in their two cents. I ended up liking 2 dresses there but they were way over budget. When I got home I did a little homework and found that one of the dresses retailed for $1K cheaper than Marylinn's . I had read other reviews saying that they overprice things but being overpriced by a thousand dollars is WAY too much. It was then that I realized that I would never be back to Marylinn's.
A week after my appointment I got a nice postcard from my consultant telling me what a pleasure it was to help me and wishing me luck in the wedding planning. I thought it was a sweet gesture.
Not once did they pressure me into buying now, nor did they make me feel bad that I wasn't buying now. I didn't like that they didn't let you take pictures. They said it was because the designers get mad but I've been to other places that carry the same designers that were totally okay with picture-taking so I don't know what's up with Marylinn's.
They do have a pretty organized store with racks devoted to particular designers and an entire back room full of bridesmaid/mother of the bride dresses organized by color. I suppose if you're in the area and want a "fancy" bridal shop experience this is the place for you.
Do NOT purchase your dress from this place. They are rude, their computers are always "down", and they are deceitful. They always say everything is ok but that is just not reassuring. They really are overpriced and they say it's no problem to receive your dress on time but getting your dress one week before your wedding is unacceptable and too stressful. Avoid this place save time, money, and steer clear of added stress. The upside is I did find a beautiful dress and initially the lady that helped me during my appointment was very sweet and accommodating, she showed me tons of styles and when I described what I liked she brought great matches for me. After you put your money down the whole experience changes, and it's very frustrating.
I personnaly would never go back and would not recommend this Store. Unfortunately I tried finding the same style dress somewhere else and did not have any luck. They are very overpriced and do not work with the Bride. Alterations were close to 1/2 of the total cost of the dress!!!! I ended up taking my dress somewhere else for all additional work.
Worst of the vendors. This play has been nothing but stress. They are expensive and the customer service is a disaster. If you want to pay and arm and a leg and be treated like crap than this is the place. I spent over $4000 on my dress and considering the comission they got, they could have been even a little respectful, but when I asked them why my dress had stains on it after I left it with them, they were rude and disrepectful. If I could have bought that dress from someone else, I would have.
I had to wait about a week for an appointment.
The positive thing about the store is that they had a lot of dresses to choose from.
The sales woman helping me did not help me look through the dresses for what I wanted. I felt like the sales person was not listening to me, for example, I knew exactly what I was looking for- an ivory lace strapless dress with no fullness on the bottom. She tried to talk me into a very revealing halter top pink dress that I felt so uncomfortable in and looked more like a prom dress. I did not want a veil but she insisted that I had one on every time I tried on a dress.
Meanwhile, I walked around looking at other dresses and they had a man cleaning the carpet. So it was all wet and I had to walk over a hose and cords. Not fun.
After months of researching, I found the perfect dress by Demetrios. I called 4 different stores, and Marylinn's gave me the best price. From the 1st day I called to request information, they were very friendly. When I picked up my dress(which you need to make an appointment for in order to try on) I was speechless. It was BEAUTIFUL!! My dress was definately one of the highlights of the wedding. The perfect princess dress to go with our Disney Fairy Tale wedding. Over and over I kept hearing from everyone, including people I didn't know, that they had never seen such a gorgeous dress. I can't thank you enough for helping me get my PERFECT dress. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER.
I found my dream dress here! The staff is very professional and friendly. They pulled some gorgeous dresses for me. However, I was left on my own when the attendant answered a phone call and I found my dream dress (in a different area than what I was being shown). It just happened and I fell completely in love! The dress and price were perfect. I liked that they weren't pushy at all. The alteration process was a bit stressful. It was crunch time and I had to keep going back for fittings, seamstress was injured so little was getting done between fittings. In their defense, it seems they also had a hard time getting a hold of me. Throughout it all they were upbeat and friendly. The dress fit beautifully and it was ready on time. The seamstress was such a sweet woman, loved her! Overall, great selection of dresses at various price points!
Mary Linn's had a beautiful gowns. They were all very pricy. I lucked out and fell in love with one of their less expensive dresses. I liked the girl who helped me out there. She was patient and helpful. I got my dress altered there as well and the seamstress was very nice. For the most part my experience was postitive. There was a very tiny section of dresses that were in my price range all the rest of the dresses were several of thousands of dollars, but I did find a dress there. I got the impression that the store was a little snooty, but even for a tighter budget they were willing to work with me and I absolutely love my wedding dress!
My wedding was amazing and I have no negative reviews to give, except for this vendor. They were not a pleasure to work with. In fact, they gave me the most stress. From the minute I walked in to try on dresses they were very pushy into making me buy a dress. I felt like I was up against a wall so I bought a dress that was ok. I really should have shopped around more because I was warned by so many brides not to go to Mary Linn's.
They also pushed my fittings to the very close to my wedding, which made me nervous. Plus just my luck the seamstress doing my fittings goes on vacations and sprains her wrist making her unable to do my alterations. They ended up getting another lady to finish the job, but it was extrememly nerve racking.
I feel they are very overpriced and you could go to other birdal shops and get a much better deal and professional service.
Dress selection was good, but overall cost was pricey when you add alterations and steaming. Staff was hit or miss in terms of friendliness and professionalism.
I went to the Beverly Hills location and it was the worst service I've ever received and I over paid! I went to Mary Linn's with my grandma and I found the it dress. But there was something off about the way it sat on my hips since I'm petite. The sales lady told me it would sit better on me once it came in my size. I have had a bad feeling since I felt. First they measured me wrong and tried to order the dress in the same size as in the store size 13. I'm 5'1 and 110 pounds. Then after arguing with me how they are the professionals and they know what they are doing they ordered it in a size 10. I came back the next day with my maid of honor and tried on the dress to show her and the girl said oh I guess you are swimming in it I'll order the size 8. What is this a guessing game? I am still in Beverly Hills right? Where was the seamstress in all this? Then a few weeks later while shopping for bridesmaids dresses I found the same dress for 1000 dollars less in another store. It was a size 8 and I tried it on. till too big! The lady said we'll need to special order it in a short version so the hips are in the right place this will elongate you she moved up the waiste and this dress sat beautifully on me. It wade such a difference. She said that a seamstress should measure me with my shoes and petticoat if I choose to wear one so that they will get it correct. Why wasn't I told all this at Mary Lynn's? When I called to ask them about the mess up and the price they got defensive, hung up on me and where completely unwilling to work with me. They told me its impossible. And they won't return my money. My advice don't go to Mary Linn's go to a place called Love Boat in Temple City. Ask for Irene. She is nice, she will give you the service you want with half the price its where I am getting my whole party's dresses including my own. Don't walk away from that place RUN!
This has to be the worst bridal store. I am not that into dresses but had seen this location in Pasadena while visitng a doctor office so checked it out because it looked really nice from the inside/outside. The girl who helped me was actually quite nice, and I found the dress I loved. That is when the problems started. They measured me, told me what size I should get,I picked my veil. Everything was fine. When my dress came in it was 2 sizes to small, the veil was wrong. The manager was so rude, she couldn't care less, told me it was my fault. I took my dress and left, had to spend $600 on alterations and since there wasn't enough time for a new veil, I actually took the one off the floor since it was the perfect veil. They didn't give me a discount, nothing. Save yourself and do not go here!
I don't question the other people's experiences, but I had a very good experience overall. I went for a trunk show of a designer I was interested in and was not steered toward the more expensive end. I bought my dress and veil there and also did my alterations there. After reading some bad reviews, I was worried they had not sized me properly. I did some research online, and it seemed like they had it right. Luckily they did, but I did need a few minor alterations. Initially I was worried about the price they quoted me, but they definitely negotiated with me. I was still scared, so I talked to some brides with similar dresses, etc. and did some other research and decided that what they had quoted me was reasonable enough. After alterations, the dress fit like a glove.
My one major complaint, however, is the degree of time I spent waiting. I spent an awful long time waiting on almost every occasion.
Please don't buy your wedding dress here, the service is AWFUL. They are rude and dismissive if you call and ask questions, and when they can't answer a question, they don't offer to follow up, they tell you to call back!!! My wedding dress sat at their store for over a month and the whole time I was calling trying to find out why it wasn't in yet!!! They were also supposed to send me fabric samples, which I never received. MaryLinn's is by far the worst vendor I worked with.
I was married about a month and a half ago and I went to Marylinn's after being treated like crap at 3 other bridal salons. I told them my budget and they were happy to only bring me dresses that fit my price range. I had read some bad reviews on them but I was really surprised when I came in. Everyone was very accomodating and sweet. It sounds like some of the brides on here were expecting way too much!
In the end, I was exceptionally happy with my dress. I'm sure all brides get compliments on their dresses, but people were really blown away by the detail and quality of my dress. However, my review comes with a little snag- I have to say that they are not cheap and yes, they are very snotty. But, they do quality work, and you can't say that about many businesses these days.
OH MY GOD! Do not buy your dress from these people! I found the perfect dress and the girl who measured me was ridiculous. She said that according to my measurements, I was a size 6, so that's what she ordered. The dress came in 5 months later, I was the same size and weight, and it literally suffocated me! I not only looked ridiculous in a dress that was quite obviously waaaay to small for me, but I felt as though my rib cage was collapsed in the dress! The girl who sold me the dress says "well...that's what brides go for these days is that hour-glass figure." Bull-crap! I looked horrid but she didn't want to take responsibility for it! I ended up getting an emergency size 10 shipped which fit beautifully after the most stressful week of my life. My dad had to go into the shop and demand they order another one from Spain. Luckily they had one in stock and shipped it. Got here 2 weeks before the wedding. Talk about a nightmare. A friend of mine who was in another wedding sadi they had a similar experience when they purchased their bridesmaid's dresses from Mary Linn's. NOT A RELIABLE PLACE TO SHOP!!!
I would recommend staying as far away from this place as possible. The dresses they offer are truly beautiful; however, the heartache and headache associated with their business is not worth it during this already stressful period. The dresses are expensive and the alterations astronomical. Their promises are comforting (you are "our bride," we will do everything to take care of you, etc.); however, they are empty words. I had to reschedule more than one appointment after arriving on time and waiting for 30 minutes before being told I would have to come back. I reasoned that the cost was worth being "taken care of," and perhaps if they had followed through, this would have been true. However, they didn't, and I am not the first to say so. Please find the most important dress you'll ever purchase at another location.
I bought my dress in CT but I took it to Mary Linn's for alterations. Although the alterations were significant (I dropped about 2 1/2 sizes between ordering my dress and getting it altered), and they were done well (the dress looked gorgeous), it was SOOO expensive and they kept tacking on hidden costs (like an additional $125 charge for getting the dress pressed after the alterations, which no one mentioned until my third fitting). I was also quite annoyed when I went to pick up my dress the day before my wedding and the women couldn't seem to find it. Then it turned out that, although the dress had been pressed the day before, someone had put it back into the bag, and I had to wait 30 minutes while they pressed it again. As if I didn't have anything better to do the night before my wedding...
Marylinn's has beautiful gowns, no doubt. Among their collection of decently expensive dresses, I was able to find a gem at a great price. But that is all that I am happy about with Marylinn's. It looks like a boutique that cares about you on the outside, but once you purchase your gown, they could care less about you. There were never any solid answers to my questions, everyone seemed to just say "Don't worry. It'll [whatever your issue is] be taken care of." Once my dress arrived, in three months (they told me 9 months), they called me to tell me it was there and that I could come try it on. When I got there, they said they didn't have my dress. I waited for 20 mins before they eventually found it. They also pressured me into buying other accessories using their "same day" strategy, which is you get a discount on everything else you buy if you buy it on the same day you purchase your dress." When I asked for a quote for alterations I heard "it won't be bad at all for you," "don't worry, we'll take care of that later," and, "I don't know, you'll have to talk to the tailor and she isn't in right now." I also had a concern about a headpiece that I purchased from them. When I thought that there was something wrong with it, nobody immediately asked how they could help me. Instead, the just said it was nothing because it wasn't broken in half. The last thing I can remember is that whenever I went in there, I just waited and waited until someone could help me because often the employees are sitting on the phone.
I used to work in sales. This is a store that cares about sales and not service. After this experience, I took my dress, which they were unhappy about, to another bridal shop for alterations.
Avoid this place! As my friends MOH I went wedding dress shopping with her to almost every bridal boutique from Los Angeles to San Diego. This was by far one of the worst ones. She found a few dresses that she liked but their prices were significantly higher than most of the other bridal stores we went to. When she tried on a $1500 Tara Keely gown, I saw the sales lady pin it badly on purpose so it would look terrible on her. She then exclaimed, "This is all wrong." She then went and grabbed a few dresses for her to try on, all over $3000.
I tried on some bridesmaids dresses and asked them to measure me so I'd know what size to order. I wear a street size 4 and they gave me my measurements as 38-30-39. Um...my measurements are 36-28-35. I told the sales lady I was not going to have the dress altered so I needed to order something that would fit me very well. She told me that was impossible, and that all the gowns would need to be altered regardless. She then went on to tell me what a good deal she would give us on alterations if we all bought from her. It was all a basket full of lies! Do not go here.
This was the worst bridal shop. I bought my Eve of Milady $4000 dress from there. The dress arrived and it was time for alterations. I figured that I might as well get them altered there. They tried to initially charge me $150 more than the price they had originally quoted me. Then, they told me that my dress was not going to be done by the wedding date so they could try to get more money out of me. I finally got the dress only to notice that a lot of the beadwork was not on the dress. Somehow it went missing, and it was very obvious. Then, finally, the afternoon before my wedding, they gave me my dress and there was still beadwork loose and missing, including a big piece of crystal that was supposed to be on the front sleeve of the dress. I thought I was the only victim, when I saw another bride close to tears. She asked me what happened to me, and I explained. The other bride, who was also getting married the next day and still did not have her own Eve of Milady dress had blood and blue ink that was bled onto the dress. I am not kidding. The ink mark was the numbers 6 & 8 that bled on the waist of the white dress, and the blood was so obvious. To top things off, my husband and his groomsmen had rented Givency Italian tuxedos from there because we thought they had high-end things. The tuxedos that came were not Givency, they were an unknown brand made in Mexico (instead of Italy), even though we paid so much money to rent them. When we complained, they told us too bad. We had no choice for the groomsmen because we picked up the tuxedos 2 days before the wedding so we stuck with them, but my husband went to another rental shop and paid $200 to rent a tuxedo last minute.
It was the worst bridal shop. Do yourself a favor and don't go there.
I had the worst experience with this store. I made an appointment for my 4 bridesmaids to go try on dresses 2 weeks in advance. When we showed up, no one helped us. No one greeted us when we walked in. No one gave us any directions after we said we were there for an appointment. When I asked someone who my sales person was, I never got an answer. We were in the store for about an hour looking around and no one acknowledged we were there. I felt like the workers there thought we were just window shopping. After all of my BMs tried on the dresses, no one even asked how it worked out, if we were interested in see swatches, ordering a dress, etc. No attempt was made to talk to us. WE WERE COMPLETELY IGNORED!!!
We found a dress we all agreed on, but will take our business elsewhere.
Wow, there are some awful reviews for this salon! I had a good experience there. I waivered between ordering a full-priced wedding dress or a formal bridesmaid dress in white. Unlike the first salon I went to (totally snotty!), Violet at Mary Linn's was very attentive and never pressured me to buy the $1800 dress over the $250 dress. I ended up ordering the bridesmaid dress. It came in early and I was very pleased with my service.
I enjoyed my experience trying on dresses at Mary Linn's. It is a nice but traditional salon. If you live in San Gabriel Valley, I recommend starting there. THey've got a large selection of nice dresses.
I worked with an associate named Meg. Super nice. I was about two sizes bigger than their sample size, but Meg squeezed me in and helped me sort threw tons of dresses.
I bought my dress here. They have tons of dresses to try on, but they are very over-priced. And the women who work there (with the one exception of the blond) are extremely rude. I would not recommend that anyone buy a dress from them (even though I got mine there). They were rude to us until we decided to buy something, and then they suddenly became friendly. You should treat customers well regardless of whether they hand over cash to you - very unprofessional.
i got my dress on sale and it was gorgeous beads to the floor. they had everything i needed and everything was very nice .
i did not have a good experience here. I went in and choose couple dresses that I liked. After trying them on, I fell in love with a Paloma Blanca dress, but she kept telling me that "it's not working for you." so she brings me these other dresses that are completely different than what i asked for (i wanted lace and she brought me these satin dresses). she insisted that i try them on before passing judgement, so i did. i wasn't too crazy about it, but she kept saying how GREAT it looks on me and that my original choice doesn't look good. when she stepped out to get something, i took a peak at the dresses to see why she kept trying to pressure me to go with these other 2 choices of hers rather than mine and i find out that my dress was only $1700 while her two were $3900. i told her i'll think about it and asked her to just size me first for each dres and i'll come back with my mom to make a decision. she sizes me in the Paloma Blanca dress as a size 8. i ordered an 8 from Pearls Place and it turns out that it's 2 sizes too large. I took it to Susana (from paulette's ambiance) and she said that she used to work at Mary Linn's and they size you large on purpose so that you have to pay for alterations. She said i really should've gotten a 4 or 6.
Mary Linn's window treatments highlight some of their most amazing dresses. This is what drew me into the store. As I perused the racks, I found a number of beautiful dresses that fit my style. I didn't realize that I had to make an appointment. Oops. In the meantime I went to a few other places to try on dresses. A couple stood out, but there were a few dresses at Mary Linn's I hadn't seen anywhere else. When I finally went in for my appointment, my salesperson patiently waited as I went through the store once again gathering the dresses I would want to try on. She remained positive and upbeat even though it took a while to try on all the dresses. When I tried on the dress I finally settled on, everyone had a wonderful comment (before I decided on it). The dress was incredible, the price was on the higher side. If you want a dress that costs less than a thousand dollars, don't set your foot in this store. It's too tempting. The dresses are beautiful. They'll work with you to make it exactly right. But you have to be willing to pay a little more, too. They didn't push any accessories on me, though I chose to buy a veil there as well. Overall, my experience here was pleasant.
Mary Linn's Bridal employees were unprofessional in numerous interactions. Most of the bridal party complained about their interactions with the employees. They insisted that my size 0 sister get a size 6 dress, and refused to let her get her correct size, referencing "store policy" to stick with their (incorrect) waist measurements. When the dress arrived, she had to alter it dramatically.
They told me that my dress should be a size 4, despite that I wear a size 8.
The store told me that my dress had been ordered, and then a few months later they called to ask me why I had never ordered my dress. Thankfully, after I ordered it again, it managed to arrive in time for the wedding.
Pretty store, bad service - sorry.
