This is a lovely shop tucked away in a very accessible corner of Annapolis. Though the facade may be unassuming, once you enter Mary's you are greeted not only by the warm and kind staff (and often Mary), but also by rows and displays of beautiful gowns. It is a true sensory experience, as most of the dresses are not wedged in racks or cloaked in plastic, but hanging gorgeously out in the open. There is an organic flow to the store, culminating in a long "catwalk" in the back, perfect for admiring your dress from all angles. When I tried on bridesmaid dresses there, I did not feel rushed or pressured. They give you time to admire and fall in love with your dress, which you will! The selection of gowns Mary's offers ranges from designer to custom-made, and I had no trouble at all finding many gorgeous options that encompass my stylistic aim of "classic with a bit of drama." I have been recommending Mary's to all of my brides- and bridesmaids-to-be!

After getting both my junior and senior year prom dresses at Mary’s, I knew as soon as I was engaged that I would go there for my wedding dress as well. When I first arrived at my appointment, I showed my stylist sample pictures of the dresses that I loved and I explained the vision for my wedding. She told me that she knew exactly what I had in mind, and she absolutely nailed it! I really liked the first two dresses I tried on, but the third dress was “the one”! I couldn’t believe I found a dress that made me cry in just three dresses. She really understood what I was looking for. Mary then pulled bridesmaid dresses for my girls to try. The dresses she pulled were amazing! They looked perfect on the girls (all a variety of height and weight) and they complimented my dress without over powering it. She also helped my mother to find the perfect dress that flattered my mother and looked wonderful alongside the bridesmaids’ dresses and my wedding dress. I’m so excited about my dress and I can’t wait to see it again at my first fitting!

The customer service at this bridal shop is HORRIBLE! 2 of the 3 times I have been to this shop to get my wedding gown; I have experienced bad customer service. The first encounter Mary was very rude and had her nose up her butt. She was treating my friend and I as if we were not good enough to be there, and I felt rushed. she did not make my dress finding a memorable experience. Fortunately, the sales consultant, Natasha that I was working with was nice and attentive. The second time I came was with my mother and wedding coordinator and for some reason she was super nice, so I gave her the benefit of the doubt that maybe she was having a bad day. I did end up getting my dress that day because her shop is convenient to my job so that I don't have to travel back and forth from Virginia to Maryland on the weekends for fittings, but do know that I did not choose my dress from them because they gave me such a great experience. The third time I came was for my first fitting and Mary and I had made an arrangement to pay for my alterations at a later date but there was a miscommunication as to the time frame that was decided on. However, when I show up for my fitting with 2 of my friends and we're getting settled in for the fitting; one of her sales consultants goes to look at our arrangement because I told her that I was told I didn't have to pay for the alterations until later. Instead of her pulling me to the side and talking in private; she decides to broadcast (yell) my business across the store and tell me that I can't get fitted today because it has to be paid today and the price is $$$ in front of my company. I was pissed by her behavior and felt totally disrespected. Now, I had left work to come for my fitting and I told her that if I have to pay today then that is fine but obviously there was a miscommunication. I later expressed how I felt about how she handled the situation and she grudgingly apologized.

WORST experience in a bridal shop ever!!! I've been to probably 10-15 bridal stores... this was the worst.
Do NOT go here.
I walked in on a weekday around 2pm, the store was absolutely empty. There were 2 people behind the desk talking. The one girl asked if I had an appointment and I said no, and she asked if I could come back in an hour. I was like... um... I can't just try on some now? I mean... nobody was there, and nobody came in the whole time I was there. AND there was another person on lunch, I found. 3 people, nobody came in the whole time we were there.
First, the girl was rather rude about me being self-conscious and not wanting to be in my underwear around her. She got very short with me about it and it was awkward.
She insisted that "there are only 6 types of wedding dresses," and "they're all basically the same."
I had tried on 2 or 3, and picked out 2 more. One, my mom had picked out. The girl wanted me to try on the one she picked out, and she said it was "exactly the same" as the one my mom picked out, just without the embellishments. There was a LOT of detail on it, so it was clearly different looking. I asked if I could try it, just to see. And she hesitated and then said "Okay" and proceeded to unzip it. Then she stopped and said "Oh, you can't order this anymore. You don't want this." And zipped it back up, and continued to pull out the one she had selected.
The owner came in and picked out a dress and went to help me try it on... again, I was uncomfortable about being seen and she just didn't care. I stepped away to put on the robe, and she demanded "I need you HERE," and pointed at the floor. It was SO uncomfortable.
They wanted to charge an extra $1,000 over a retail price of a Maggie Sottero. Like $2,300 for Monterey, which retails for around $1,200. They also lied about the name.
There was more, but it's been a little while and I don't remember what else or more details. Just... HORRIBLE.

Mary looked at us like we were some redneck low class people when we tried to look at wedding dresses .. Mary pretty much told the bride she was fat and asked why she hasn't bought a dress yet!! And even asked why we were here!!! Hello why else would we be at a bridal shop !!!! She was rude and not willing to help us at all I recommend NEVER shopping there!! What a horrible experience she wouldn't stop rolling her eyes at us and because we didn't have a limit on a dress she wouldn't even show us anything!!! She was more of a waste of time then anything!!!!

This place is like the used car dealership of wedding dresses
I went to Mary's because she said she could get me a dress in a short amount of time (fiance and I are both military).
I went in and the dress picking went okay, I picked out a nice designer gown.
Things Mary claimed while I was there:
1. "Fill out this review form for us; we will send it to TLC and last year we did this and a bride won 400,000 dollars for her wedding"
2. "I got another bride to cancel her fitting so we could accomodate you." (I later had to make a change and the cashier said the whole week was open for fittings.
3. "I made the uniforms for the Naval Academy's color guard."
So anyway, I show up for my first fitting. I am told the seamstress will be in in 5 minutes. She comes in ONE HOUR later.
And it's not my dress. It's a cheap ripoff of the designer sample gown I tried on earlier. She had just sewn the tag of the designer into the dress. I was never given a certificate of authenticity.
She did give me refund, though.

I couldn't recommend Mary's Bridal less. From the moment that we walked in the establishment, we wanted to leave. I came with an appointment to try on wedding dresses and left with a pit in my stomach (as did my family that came with me). First of all, Mary could not have been more rude, unfriendly, and unwelcoming to everyone she came in contact with. She talks to people as if they don't know anything that they are talking about. Her services and customer service couldn't be worse. The only pro of the experience was Natasha who was very helpful. Other than that, I would never step foot in that establishment or recommend it to anyone unless you think that wedding dress shopping should be miserable. And apparently she has quite the reputation around town of people who have experienced the same thing. Needless to say, I did not purchase my dress here.

Finding my dress at Mary's was truly a great experience. Jenn and the rest of the staff was very friendly and allowed me to try on as many dresses as I needed (only needed 3) until I found "the one". Blanca is an excellent seamstress and knows exactly what to do to the dress so it fits perfectly and one is comfortable wearing it. There is an excellent variety of styles to choose from and I am glad I chose a dress that flattered me and will look amazing in our wedding album. If you are looking for a dream wedding gown, visit Mary's !!!

Thanks to Mary, I looked fabulous on my wedding day. Leading up to the wedding I was concerned about being the center of attention, so I kept delaying trying on dresses. I visited Mary’s in January and our wedding was March 9. The dress Mary helped to select for me gave me the confidence boost I needed to walk down the aisle and to pose for the personal paparazzi throughout the day. Everyone loved the wedding and ceremony but my dress is still getting complements! Mary is the place to go for every bride but it is a must for a bride with “proportions” Mary’s description for a bride with body!

Mary's, Mary's, Mary's...first I will say that I loved my wedding dress but I would have loved it even more if it actually fit the way it was suppose to. Natasha was my sales consultant and she was nice and allowed me to try on various styles to see what looked best on me during my first appointment. When purchasing my dress, I was charged an additional $1000 for taxes, shipping, alterations and to have a foundation sewn into the dress. Make sure you look at the tag in your dress before buying!! I was told that my dress were from two different designers.
During my first fitting, it was clear that the dress was too big and no cups or foundation were added to the dress but, the seamstress, who is the nicest person in the store, asked if I was ready to take it home...wrong! During my second fitting, the additions that I pre-paid for were added to the dress but it still needed to be taken in about an inch in the hips. Finally, my third fitting, the top part of the dress fit bit the hip area was still too big. The owner said that it looked great and that I need to take the dress as it was and I said no. Thank goodness for the seamstress because she altered my dress while she was "steaming" it out for me to take home.
Overall I would tell brides to go elsewhere to find your wedding dress. For the money I spent I could have flown to NY and went to Kleinfleds and had a more enjoyable experience with professionals.

MUST TO AVOID
This woman contracted me to write some copy for her web site. I bent over backwards to accommodate her—references, writing sample, tons of emails, etc. She gave me the go-ahead for the job, and, as is customary, I told her I would need a deposit—no different from what she would expect in her line of work. Though she assured me she would put the money in my Paypal, she never did. Simply disappeared, would not return my communications. Finally got her on the phone; told me she was “so glad I called”, assured me she was looking forward to getting the job under way. Her way of turning on the sweetness was almost scary. Then just disappeared again. She strikes me as untrustworthy and/or a complete flake. I would strongly advise NOT working with her, as well as reading the comments that are all over the web about her (wish I had). I’m not one to normally go out of my way to write bad reviews but in this case I felt compelled.

All brides in the DC, Baltimore, Annapolis area look no further for your dress than Mary's Bridal. This was the only store I went to and I only had to try on 4 dresses before finding my gorgeous dress. I went in with a photo of what I wanted and they nailed perfectly what I wanted and how I wanted to look on my wedding day. I truly felt catered to and I never worried about going over my budget or falling in love with a dress I couldn't afford. They never once tried to push on me extra things I already told them I didn't want like a veil or try to change my mind in a different direction. The fitting and alterations process was a breeze! The alterations team nailed my dress the very first time and and delivered on time. I felt so beautiful and amazing on my day and I've had so many people ask me where I got my wedding dress!

Mary's Designer Bridal Boutique was the best experience by far! I called them on Monday night crying & explained to them that I could not fit into the wedding dress I bought a year ago. Mary got on the phone with me, fit me into her busy schedule for Tuesday. When I meet with her seamstress, they put me at ease worked with me & did all they could do to let out the dress, but due to design of the dress there was nothing that could be done. So, Mary & her team went to work. They found out the details of my wedding, where it was going to be held, what my style of dress is, whether I am a romantic bride, classic bride, etc & pulled a few of Mary's own design's based off my prefrences of wedding dresses. They explained what would work best for my body style & what would accentuate my curves, they made me feel at home and comfortable. I did not feel rushed & I did not feel like I was just another sale. They took the time to explain the dresses to me, what worked for my body, what the material was made of, how it was made & most of all made me feel at ease, comfortable & like a person. I finally picked the dress that was made of Celtic Lace, with a built in corset, semi-sweetheart neckline & chapel train, absolutely stunning!!! All hand made and completed in three days, rush job, tailored specifically for me!! I could not believe how beautifully this dress turned out to include the veil and the matching blusher. Mary gave me a great deal on this custom made gown. What would normally be a $4800 for the dress, veil, detachable peticoat cost me $2800 due to a $2000 credit she gave me due to my issue with my dress and helped me out immensely. I would recommend Mary to any woman who is looking for a beautiful, custom made wedding dress.

While I absolutely loved my dress, purchasing my dress wasn't the most pleasant experience. I found the owner of the store to be a little pushy and demanding rather than totally listening to what I wanted. However, I did find the dress of my dreams and the quality of the design was impeccable. Many of my guests told me it was the most beautiful dress they'd ever seen. I would definitely go back to Mary's, but I would go knowing that dealing with her might be a little difficult.

Where do I begin? I came into Mary’s in need of a dress in only one weeks time, and she immediately assured me she would take care of me and I wouldn't leave her store with out a dress. After wiping away my tears of sadness, waiting for about 3 minutes for Mary to pull the dress she had in mind for me, and being helped into the dress, I found myself wiping away tears of joy!! i didn't even shed tears in my original dress! With my wedding a week away, I will be in my dream dress.

I don't even know where to begin. I LOVED my dress and my wedding was perfect. I HATED my experience with Mary's Bridal.. Every single bit of it. I absolutely dreaded my appointments and was remorseful every day that I found my dream dress in this shop. Every single time that I had to go in or even call, I was dumbfounded by how unprofessional, rude, and just TERRIBLE, Mary and her staff really was.
I live over an hour away from Mary's but ventured in during a day of shopping with my mom and sisters. I had an appointment with Natasha and she was helpful for that appointment.
And then I booked an appointment to come back with my maid of honor who flew into town and when I came in, they were total snobs because they were certain that I 'missed' my appointment the week before and just walked in whenever I felt like it (I'm sorry, but my MOH booked a flight from Texas and we were coming from Alexandria VA, I'm pretty sure I did not confuse the dates..)
The dresses are NOT custom-made originals. They are other designers dresses, with a hiked up price tag! And they will lie to you about it. I LOVED my dress, and wouldn't have selected anything different. But I also was under the impression that it was unique and custom made. Until a month before my wedding and I saw it on Pintrest by searching for 'lace wedding dress' and then found it all over the internet for half the price. Awesome. When I asked the seamstress about the originality, she was a bit nervous and provided just a quick response. When I asked the staff in the front, they assured me that my dress was custom designed by Mary (absolute lies..)
When I came in for fittings, the staff asked my sister to stay at the FRONT OF THE STORE to wait for me because she had her baby with her (I'm talking 4 month old baby, not a toddler running around with sticky fingers!). Excuse me, but I brought my sister for support not just so she could drop me off for a fitting!
Mary prides herself on being the most knowledgeable bridal expert in all of the world (bla bla bla bla) and will compliment you out the wazoo to make you feel great. When I brought in my wedding heels, she asked about them and when I told her the brand (Butter) she acted like I bought them from payless because she had never heard of the brand --- I'm sorry but Butter is an expensive brand of bridal shoes with $200-$400 shoes! Dont make me feel like a cheapskate because you have never heard of the brand and are pissed I didn't buy your cheap shoes!
The staff was supposed to e-mail me the photo that they took of me in the dress the day that we bought it.. It literally took two months of calling them every week to actually get the photo --- how hard is it to just send an e-mail?!?!? They kept saying that they sent it to me and tried blaming my spam folder... I am certified in computer forensics, i'm quite certain I understand how to navigate my spam folder.
The seamstresses are all LOVELY and a pleasure to work with. Mary is pleasant (when she wants to be) and will make you feel wonderful (when she wants to). Just don't get on her bad side by even daring to ask a question about their gown preservation process. Speaking of the preservation, they tried to charge me a fee for my dress being returned to them with a wrong shipping address because Mary's submitted the address from my drivers license on file..you know, from 1.5 years ago when I bought the dress..rather than the address that I actually wrote down on the form...genius)
Overall, I love my dress and its perfect but I wish I had found it at a different shop (especially considering I could have easily done so!). Don't be afraid to go in and try dresses on (they wont allow you more than 3-4 because they dont want you wasting their time... I went in on my FIRST day of shopping, how in the WORLD was I supposed to know what I wanted?) but do your homework if you end up falling in love with a dress because you can find it somewhere else for half the price and better service!

Marys is a little pushy when you first come in, but after they were nothing but helpful in fitting and creating my dress. They gave me an absolutely beautiful wedding gown that I proudly wore on my wedding day and it fit perfectly. If you go here, you will of course get a beautiful design and great fittings, just speak up when you feel you need to!

I purchased my dress, veil & jewelry from Mary's. My dress was beautiful, but they made it too long. Mary had assured me it would be fixed when I came for my last fitting, but it wasn't. We had to play around with how to bustle it. The way it was bustled when I tried it on the first time was one of the main reasons I fell in love with it! She also said she was going to be there for the final fitting, but was a no-show. I wasn't satisfied much with the staff, but I will boast about how gorgeous my dress, veil & jewelry was!

When I started my wedding dress shopping, I started at David's Bridal to try on a dress that I had fallen in love with in a magazine. I was very disappointed in the quality of that dress and did not allow for enough time to try on others because I had already booked an appointment at Mary's Designer Bridal Boutique. When I arrived, the process was very similar to the show "Say Yes to the Dress." A consultant asked me what I was looking for and what my price range was. The dresses I tried on were amazing and I fell in love with the third dress I tried on. The seamstress who took my measurements for the dress and my alterations was very sweet and although I went up in size slightly, she was always very encouraging. When I came to the shop to try my dress on for the last time, for them to iron it, and to take it home, I was not happy with the quality of the ironing. But they told me I could bring it back anytime to have the ironing touched up before the wedding. I brought the dress their the week of the wedding and the owner had a little bit of an attitude when my mother asked to see the quality of the ironing this time before we took it home, but ultimately they did accommodate us by ironing it a second time. She told us how to hang it up as soon as I got home to keep it wrinkle free and my dress was flawless when I walked down the isle. My fiance told me when we met at the end of the isle that my wedding dress was worth every penny. One of my guests said I was the most beautiful bride she had ever seen. During the reception my maid of honor had to periodically help me pull the dress back up so I didn't pop out of it and flash anyone since one of the promises of the dress is that it has built in support so that a bra is not necessary. Overall, it is a beautiful dress that I hope my daughter will wear for her wedding.

I live in Texas and came into town to see friends. We decided to go dress shopping sincee I wouldnt be back in town for a while. My friend suggested Mary's, she had purchased her daugthers pageant gown there. So I gave it a try. The store was well put together, lovley atmoshpere, and a wonderful area to try on the gown. I was greeted and waited on the whole time. I loved how I was the main focus. I found the "one" with ease. They worked with me on a fitting schedule and Mary and her staff were great. Thank you so much ladies. I will tell everyone about my experience at Mary's.

I had searched a long time for a wedding gown. I had the idea of the perfect dress in my mind but never quite found anything "different" in all the other bridal stores. All the dresses looked the same to me. I found a picture of my "perfect" gown in a magazine. Mary's was one of the only bridal stores in Maryland that carried this designer. I was so excited to go and try the dress on. My consultant was Dorothy and she was wonderful. She was very patient throughout the process. When it was time to get fitted for the dress, Mary, the owner was the one who actually took my measurements. I found her to be very dry, emotionless, and sometimes a bit rude....very set in her ways. You'd think that buying your wedding gown is going to be an exciting and happy experience to the end. I felt intimidated to express any concerns about the fit of the dress or anything I would like added or changed to it to fit my needs for the day better. After a few visits to the store, I see that's just how she is, but it still made me uncomfortable. But in the end, the price was a steal for the details in my gown. The store doesn't have price tags on the dress (I guess it's only for the serious bride) so I was hoping it wouldn't be over my budget. But it was a total dream.
The rest of my fittings were very difficult to do. I live an hour away so it was a struggle to find time to see the seamstress weekdays before 5pm....are you kidding? But my seamstress, Allie, was absolutely fabulous! She was very sweet and attentive....well worth the drive. I felt comfortable asking her questions and she was patient to fix anything with the dress.
Shoes and accessories? Forget it. They are so overpriced! The same shoes they were selling for $200, I found online for $80. And you can't even return it at Mary's if it ends up being the wrong size. Other accessories were around the same price as the shoes. I found faux jewelry for under $60 and it looked exactly the same.
There were times I called in because Mary had told me she would put me in touch with a vendor. After several messages over 2 months, never got a return call. Every time I asked for her, she was "not available". They didn't even put me on hold to pretend like they're checking. What is she a celebrity that she can never answer a customer or return calls? A lot of the employees were very rude, on the phone and in person. I was told my last fit was going to be 3 months before the wedding. When I asked if they could fix it if I lost weight (a lot can happen in 3 months), the lady snapped back, "well how much have you lost so far?" I assertively answered back that it didn't matter, were they going to fix it or not? How dare someone ask you that question? That is irrelevant. I could have lost 100lbs for all she knows. That's not the point of what I'm asking. So many women there lacked a great deal of customer service.
The wedding gowns are gorgeous, not like any other store or boutique I've seen. Their other formal gowns are just as unique and beautiful. If you can deal with the rude and snappy ladies (minus the seamstresses and women that work in the back), then I recommend going to take a look. But this store needs to work on some serious customer service. I don't care how upscale you are, no one deserves to be treated like some of us that have wrtitten these reviwes. Do they not look at their reviews? It seems to be a problem!

When walking into Mary's my heart was racing. I just spent 3 hours looking for a dress interacting with rude workers in every shop. Mary's was my last stop of the day and i showed up tired and defeated. Natasha was my bridal consultant, she was very understanding, honest, and had a calming sense about her. I told what I did and I didn't like. I waited in the dressing room while she pulled dresses. I saw her walk in with 3 dresses and I laughed to myself thinking there is no way I am only trying on 3 dresses! I tried on the first two dresses and felt beautiful. The third dress fitted like a glove! I walked out to show my mom, grandma, and sister, and they all had the same reaction....tears of joy. Then the words I never thought I would say splurted out "I feel like a bride."

My 2 best friends recommended Mary's Bridal in Annapolis to me
They said that I would find my dress and that the process would be painless
exciting, fun and easy & wouldn't break my budget Well they were so right.
I found my dress, veil and tiara and even my jewelry- it was perfect
At my fitting I even got my shoes there- they took care of every detail and made me feel like a star I had Victoria as my consultant and she
is fantastic. It was altogether a great experience......I even met the designer Mary, she helped me custom design my neckline the way I wanted it. Couldn't have been nicer
BTW my mom got her dress there too- she said she felt like she had lost 20 pounds the way the dress looked on her.

ILOVE MARYS BRIDAL BOUTIQUE SHE DESING MY DRESS AND ILOVE IS BEUTIFUL IS THE PERFECT DRESS FOR MY
GUEST

I had found my wedding dress in Pittsburgh, but I was not from Pittsburgh and my mom was not there for the first dress search. So I searched all over MD for my dress and found it at Mary's Bridal. I made it a point to tell them that I wanted that exact dress, made an appointment and told them I was coming in that day to buy that dress. I get to my appointment and another bride had the dress on that I had called about and stated I was coming in to buy. It took about 2 hours for them to finally explain that since the previous bride just bought my dress I would not be able to try on the dress that day. 3 hours later and countless other dresses that I could care less about I finally was able to put on my dress. I had to explain to them that the only reason I made my appointment with them was because they were the only store who had my dress and they knew 1 week in advance I was coming in to try it on at a set time and that I was going to buy it. What could have been a 30 minute appointment turned into a long drawn out process that could have been avoided. They were not willing to work with me...until I asked to talk to the Manager. In the end they matched the cost of the same dress from the Pittsburgh store and let me take the dress out the door that day.

Ok, lets start with the actual matter at hand...the dress. My dress was gorgeous, stunning, unique, and perfect. It was custom made, so the fit was perfect and it was completely me. There's nothing I would have changed with that dress. Yes, there were some troubles. 1) I came from Washington (state) to plan my wedding in MD. Naturally, I did not have much time to mess around when I came to organize my vendors. And I needed everything to be done correctly without me having to be there to make sure it was done. I came to pick out my dress a few months before the wedding. I actually asked for a Maggie Sottero, but never actually was brought one. Mary brought me a few of her designs, but I liked none of them. Finally, my grandfather picked one off of a manequin and it was perfect. Absolutely gorgeous...but of course, it needed to be made. The total was a little over 3k, with a matching veil (great quality) and a head peice. Alterations were included in this. I went home. I scheduled another trip to be at my friends wedding and have a fitting in the same weekend. I confirmed my date before I came, and boarded a plane two months after the initial fitting. Dress- Not ready (What do you mean not ready!?!?) I freaked. I was boarding a plane in a few hours, and I hadnt even SEEN my dress. I was told this fitting was just for measurements. I told them no, if I wanted that I would have called my measurements in. I did NOT pay 500.00 to fly 3000 miles to MD to have a date with a measuring tape. I wanted my dress. Two hours later, I came back and saw my dress. It was 1/2 embroidered and the laceback was somehow now a zipper. The dress was a bit too big so....fail. (Did I mention they told me I could bring my dress HOME that day over the phone??) I was told later that my appointment had never been put in the books. Great. Now I've got to pull from my budget AGAIN to fly back and try again in a few weeks. Second time, dress was great. I had to get it taken in a bit but the seamstress, Bianca (?) was wonderful and extrememly fast. I got my dress back again and wallah..it fit. I lost a few lbs, (somehow..I was already 105, so they were NOT expecting me) and had to get the dress fitted one more time before the wedding day. Finally, it was done, and I had my dress pressed and returned to me. All in all...worth it totally. Victoria was wonderful (shes a consultant), Marys got some lovely designs (yes, she's eccentric, but you can get over that if you want a beautiful dress) and Bianca has talent. You have to stay on top of everything but if you can commit to that, you will feel like an absolute princess on your wedding day. Mary was very sweet and gave me a necklace as a wedding gift, and it was beautiful. Thanks everyone! Andrea King

I was very happy with my dress. I went with Mary's because they were the only place that had my dress/designer (Maggie Sottero). I loved how they custom fit the dress; it absolutely fit like a dream and I felt great. However, overall, I felt that they were a bit disorganized at Mary's, and Mary herself can be quite rude. I absolutely loved my dress though, so I can't complain too much.

I absolutely loved my dress - and loved the fact that it was custom made and fit to my body, so I did not have to worry anbout multiple fittings - I had one in the beginning, and then another just to adjust the length. I had my dress in my hands 3 months before the wedding and it fit absolutely perfectly. I really did not have any difficulties during the whole process, however I found Mary and at least one of the other women quite rude each time I was there. The receptionist was always very very friendly and helpful.

I had hoped to buy my dress from Mary's Bridal in Annapolis but since I was treated so poorly I decided to go elsewhere. I live about 20 minutes from Annapolis. I had been tracking down an Allure dress for months. Everyone had told me that it was a fall dress and wasn't out in stores yet. I kept checking the Allure website- I could not get the dress out of my mind. Time was ticking so I got a good deal on a dress that would do if I couldn't get my hands on this dream dress, but it didn't feel like "the dress." Finally, Mary's Bridal had my dress in stock. This was the 6th time that I had called asking about this dress- I was so excited when they said they finally had it in stock!!! I was then told by a snotty worker that I would have to pay $150 to try it on "after all, they're not there for me to play dress up." WOW!!! She then asked me what my budget was. I said I didn't want to spend over $1000. She quickly told me that she didn't have anything for me in my budget and we shouldn't waste each other's time. This experience encouraged me to widen my search for my dress. I found the dress at Claire's Fashion in Wilmington, DE. They were so sweet to me on the phone and were even nicer, if it is even possible, in person. I bought the dress for $800 and I was happy to drive the hour and a half each way to give Claire's Fashion my business and not Mary's Bridal. I have not heard of anyone having a good experience at Mary's Bridal. I have even heard of someone buying a "Mary's Custom Creation" that was an $800 Allure dress with a different button for $3000. Now that's an expensive button! I will be spreading the word to all of my friends to avoid Mary's bridal at all costs and I can't tell you how happy I am to have avoided being stuck with the Mary's Bridal drama!
(I was actually married on Nov 13, 2010- I can't seem to change it on Wedding Wire.)

A bride can get what she wants from here, but she should be prepared to do a ton of yelling. Whenever I need to let off some steam, I would call to check on my dress. There was always some issue with having it ready for fittings, so I had to raise my voice and threaten to sue quite often.

DO NOT BUY YOUR WEDDING DRESS HERE!
Between these nasty witches and momental designs I had some serious days of crying during my wedding planning. I don't want you to go through the same!
From day one, the dress that I made my appointment to try on and I was told that was there was not there. I was told that I would not look good in the dress I wanted to try on anyway because it would not fit my figure. Not to tute my own horn...but I am 5'4 and only weigh 115...I look good in most things! Even so, let me get this dress out of my head, don't tell me it won't look good. Anyway, I tried on other dresses and found one that was ok. I was told that I could alter it to make it the dress I really wanted. It never turned into what I really wanted.
After signing our life away (you have to pay IN FULL the day you want to buy the dress) I was then told that you can only do fittings Mon-Friday 12-4. Well that is just perfect considering I live no-where near annapolis.
Ugh I could go on and on but I don't want to relive this stupid woman in my life. They just suck is all I can tell you. They are completely unwilling to work with you and I am just so very glad to have them out of my lives.
Buying your wedding dress should be a happy happy occassion and if you don't want to deal with BITCHES, don't go to Marys.

They did a great job custom making my dress to fit just perfect!

Good selection of beach wedding dresses. Very nice atmosphere for your friends/ family to join you. Mary is a little abrasive but clearly knows her stuff and did not "nickle and dime" me to get the alterations perfect.
GUEST

Mary's is a busy little boutique, so I usually had to wait at least 15 minutes past my scheduled appointment time. However, their knowledge and skills were worth the wait. They have beautiful dresses, and their alterations staff was excellent.

What a terrible experience!!!! The customer service here is horrible. The dresses are overpriced for the materials they use. The dress was wrong every single time I went for a fitting (they forgot to put in the corset back, length was wrong, bust was wrong, didn't ask how I wanted the bustle and the buttons were showing) Do not go here!!! On the positive side, I bought another dress on ebay (Alfred Sung) and it was gorgeous!

Bride's BEWARE!!! I had such a terrible experience here that I ended up buying another dress (a beautiful $2000 Alfred Sung) to wear at my wedding. This place lied to me about having a dress that they did not just to get me in the store. I drove and hour and a half to see this dress. They had me try on dresses while they "pretended" to look for the dress they didn't actually have. I got pressured into buying a dress my mother liked. The consultant would not leave my mother and I alone for a second. After that, they were impossible to get ahold of, they NEVER call you back, everytime I went for a fitting something was wrong. I was supposed to have a customed designed gown. At my first fitting I realized they actually gave me the sample! The customer service there was horrible. The dresses may look nice from afar but they use really cheap material. I don' think my dress is worth even half of what I paid for it. I seriously question the authenticity of the good reviews on here. Spare yourself the trouble and skip this place.

Mary's bridal salon is a store that most people I have spoken with have a love/hate relationship with. Their staff is not always very friendly, but their dresses are gorgeous. I first went to Mary's while my friend was shopping for her wedding dress. She did not have a very good experience. I was skeptical even going in to look for my dress. The first 20 minutes of my appointment was a train wreck. I was ready to leave. Then Dorothy walked over and asked how I was doing. She was a God send. She walked me around the store and she listened to what I was saying. Dorothy is the person who actually convinced me to try on the dress that became my wedding dress. When I put it on, I couldn't believe how happy it made me. The store is not very accomidating when it comes to fittings. However, the seamstress is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. She was so patient and kind! I had to be re-fitted several times due to my weightloss and she took the extra time to make sure everything was perfect. If you are willing to put up with the not so enjoyable employees, Mary's is a place where you can find the most beautiful gown you will ever see.

Mary met with me personally to figure out the perfect dress for me. She was right on with the design and made the gown for me to fit my figure. I was an older bride with a mature body and let me tell you, Mary made me look like I was in my 30's again with a 24 inch waist (although my waistline is much larger!).
Mary is direct, decisive, and eminently qualified to dress you and make you look better than you have ever in your lifetime. Go with Mary's Designer Bridal boutique -- you will not be disappointed.

Long story short, I needed to make serious alternations to a wedding dress I purchased in NYC. Brought it to Mary's on a Sunday afternoon where Mary, the owner, whoo and ahhhed me the minute I walked in the door. Full of compliments about my dress, what I was wearing, my taste, etc. After spending an hour with me and showing me everything we could change about my dress, she then presented a bill for almost $2000. I was shocked. When I told her I had to think about it, she turned on me. Started ranting about how she came in on her "day off" to help me and that "we had agreed that if you came in, you would pay for the alternations that are recommended". She was SO livid she couldn't even look at me in the eyes. (Last time I checked, as a buyer, I have the right to shop around for the best price.) Mary was so irrational that when she said "FINE. I'll pull the pins out" I imagined her throwing red paint on my dress. Seriously I'm not over exaggerating. After much debate, I was able to get her to lower the price. Not because she gave me a discount but because she removed ridiculous charges that I never agreed to.
READ her contract. She requires FULL payment upfront and for you to purchase shoes from her store by the first fitting. Also, there is something about what to do when there is a dispute (obviously she's been sued in the past).
A few more points:
-Mary forces you to write a comment re: your in-store experience. Her strategy is to have you do this after she's kissed your .... but before you see the bill.
-Invoices are handwritten. Check the TAX! she over charged me and has not refunded me, even after 6 months of requesting it
Do yourself a favor and drive the extra mile to DC, Bethesda, NoVA, etc. there are far better places than Mary's.

I found out about Mary's from the Knot Website. I was having a hard time finding the dress that I wanted for my wedding. I called them on the phone and they said they would be able to help me find the dress for me. As soon as I walked into the shop I knew they would have my dress. Dorothy knew exactly what I wanted, the service here is wonderful!! The first dress I tried on ended up being the one. The other associates were so friendly and welcoming, I am so happy I found a shop like Mary's. I just got back from my honeymoon and couldn't be happier with everything, Thank you Mary's for helping me have the perfect wedding!

My sister bought her dress at Mary's two years ago and had an interesting experience. Her dress was gorgeous, but Mary always treated them like low-life trailer trash. I decided to go to Mary's, expecting to get the same treatment---but she treated me a lot different. I think she is a little partial to anyone associated with the Naval Academy because something about being a color girl, but she pretty much sucked up to me the whole time. I told her what I wanted--a dropped waist, and off the shoulder sleeves. She asked me if I wanted to be able to lift my arms when I danced (not in a rude way). She explained that with off the shoulder dresses you can not lift your arms more than a little. She then showed me 4 different dresses... starting with a basic one and asking me questions to send her in the direction I was looking for. The fourth gown I tried on was beautiful---and fit all the requirements I wanted. It was reasonably priced, as well. She did force shoes on us... and was very pushy about that---and they were expensive (they were comfortable though, but I'm sure you can find cheaper shoes!!!). Lastly, at the last minute I had to buy a new veil. The veil is absolutely gorgeous---but it was $500! It was a short one too...not chapel or cathedral length. All in all I would recommend Mary's to anyone. Her custom made gowns are beautiful---and it is guaranteed that no one else will have your dress.

My dress was simply exquisite. Everything I had hoped for. The salon is super accessible. The staff at Mary's is very nice, sometimes blunt but super professional. They know what they are doing. My dress is more than I wanted to spend but was worth every penny. They are somewhat flexible but you can't schedule dress fittings on weekends which was a pain since I lived in DC.

The eperience was completely different every time I entered the store. The first fitting and initial visit were great with good service and selection. The other times I visited there were different associates. They did not communicate with each other so my pieces were not always available or done. Some of the associates do not know what they are doing and measured wrong, made the hem crooked, and did not know the products. However, the dress was beautiful.

Yes, Mary is a bit uptight and definitely rude to her customers. One time she was even rude to my mother - I called her out on it and she apologized repeatedly (we hadn't purchased our bridesmaid dresses yet). Some of the other workers there are not as knowledgeable as Mary is, so its a catch 22 on who you get.
I spoke with Mary on the phone for a few minutes when I made my first appointment. She only had one dress chosen for me to try on and it was definitely everything I could have wanted for my wedding dress. The price was very high (almost double my budget for my entire wedding attire), but after thinking about it for a few days I decided to get it. My dress turned out amazing! It was worth every penny I spent on it. The woman who actually made my dress was really nice and really good at listening to what I wanted. Even after the dress was already made she was flexible in making changes for me.
My bridesmaids also got their dresses from Mary's. Their dresses too were expensive, but not too much more than nice bridesmaid dresses from other boutiques. There was some confusion on the style of their dresses after they were already made! I had to push on the ladies who made the dresses to fix it and they did so quickly.
All in all my girls looked great, and so did I. I regret making my bridesmaids pay so much for a dress, but I was pressed to find a more reliable boutique.

I am really surprised that Mary's even has one positive review on Weddingwire. My sister and I visited Mary's in search of her wedding dress and I have never had such a poor experience in my life. To start the owner, Mary, is completely dishonest and takes every single label out of the dresses on her sales floor and even attempted to tell us that one dress my sister was interested in was Monique Lhuillier and was over $4,000 only for us to later find out that it was not Monique Lhuillier and cost only $900. Every single dress that we saw was in terrible condition, had a huge mark up, and really poor quality. I think she does this on purpose because her real goal is to get you to have your dress "custom made" by her. The fact that she even refers to herself as a "designer" is ridiculous and all of the dresses in her store that she claims to have designed and made are complete rip off's of other bridal designers and look terrible.
I know several people who have had her custom make dresses for them and every single one said there were hidden costs, design and fit issues and of course major quality issues.
I am only writing this in hopes that other brides will steer clear of Mary's, and opt to go to one of the more professional and honest bridal shops in the area. I personally got my dress at Betsy Robinson's and my sister ending getting an amazing dress at Bridal's by Elena.
DO NOT GO TO MARY'S!!

I'm torn about my review of Mary's bridal, and much of what the other reviews detail is correct.
1. The staff at the store are not warm and fuzzy. They don't appear to go above and beyond to make the bride feel special. Mary can be blunt/pushy and although I wasn't really offended by her, my mother, sister, and bridesmaids did become quite annoyed several times by her behavior. Despite that, she is very knowledgeable and knows her stuff. She has memorized her inventory and knows what will look best on her brides. At first, I worked with a consultant who was pulling all the wrong things. After a 30 second discussion with Mary, she looked at the consultant (said, "why didn't you get that in the first place") and came back with my ideal dress.
2. Mary is especially rude to her staff. My poor seamstress was disrespected numerous times in front of me and I was so embarassed for her. The seamstress did a FANTASTIC job with my dress though. I changed things several times because they were not to my liking and she always rolled with the punches and made the changes that I requested.
3. It is true that Mary boasted that my dress was a Mary's Bridal original, designed by her. I would talk about how beautiful it was in front of her and she would say, "I know, it's my design." Several months after purchasing my dress, I found one that was eerily similar in a bridal magazine. In fact, I'm almost 100% positive that my dress was an Allure Designs dress that the tag was ripped out of. I never confronted her about that and I'm dissapointed that I didn't. The reason that I didn't was because my mom was already nervous about spending so much money on a dress, I didn't want to tell her that I thought it was a rip off. It was easier to just go with it since I liked the dress. That being said-- before you buy, scour the magazines because it may not be as custom as you originally thought.
4. The questionaire that you must fill out prior to trying anything on was a bit shady. I wrote down that the most that I could spend would be $2000. WHen I was alone in the dressing room with my consultant I asked at least 20 times about the prices of the dresses that she was showing me. Not once would she answer me and she tried to avoid the question. She told me that they didn't know the prices off hand and would have to look in the book. WHen I finally found "the dress" I asked 5 times how much it was before committing to the purchase. The ONLY thing that they would tell me was that it was "within my price-range." They made me commit before telling me the price.
When we finally got up to the register, shock set in. They presented the reciept and sure enough, the dress was $2,000 (though I told them that that was the MOST I would spend). The veil, which was plain and fingertip length (and Mary pressured me into buying) was 400 dollars extra-- and they failed to mention that!
5. That being said-- alterations are included in the price-- which is quite amazing. I had 5 fittings and every change that they made was free. That was quite the steal considering how expensive alterations can be when you do them separately. Trust me, I had 5 fittings and my dress needed to be changed every time. We had problems down to the wire, but in the end it all worked out and I liked my dress.
Overall, I got a nice dress, but I wish I had taken the time to look at other places and to really research the process. Mary's was the first place that I went to, so I figured that what they did was normal. At the end of the day, although I loved my dress in the beginning, the entire process made it much less exciting for me and very nerve-wracking. At the end of the process, I felt "meh" about my dress. I bet that I could have done better if I hadn't settled.

Mary's was the first place I went to try on wedding dresses. Like some of the other reviewers, I thought it was a little strange to fill out the wedding survey but I didn't know any better at the time (I didn't do that at any other boutique). Penny helped me find dresses and she was absolutely wonderful. I didn't even deal with Mary until much later. I felt a little pressure to buy the dress then and there but I held out and went other places to comparison shop. I decided to get "the dress" from Mary's after all. They did go over my budget but I think it was well worth it. All my fittings went well and the dress and veil were perfect. Everyone, especially the groom, complimented me on my gorgeous dress. It is really simple and classic. Even my photographer said it was the most beautiful dress he had photographed all season. All in all I had a good experience. Just stick to your guns and don't allow yourself to be talked into anything you don't want and be prepared for a sometimes abrasive personality.

Absolutely breeathtaking is how I and many other's described my wedding dress that I purchased at Mary's. There were so many beautiful dresses that you may feel like it's overwhelming....however, when you try on the perfect dress you will know that your search is over. For me, that was the very first dress I tried on. Mary's was very accomodating with my fittings and even squeezed me in for an extra fitting when I decided to change the length of my shoes. For any bride who truely wants to look and feel beautiful....you will not be disappointed.
Though it's a bit on the high end it is worth every penny....my husband complimented me over and over on my dress as did many others. I was sad to put my dress away but am sure that one of my sister's will be asking me for it in the near future...that's how beautiful it is! To me, the dress was very important because it is the one day that I got to look and feel like a real live princess and I wanted to make sure that I did....You will not be disappointed with one of Mary's dresses.

Whether you choose to read this entire review or just the first sentence, my point is that you should NOT get your dress from Marys. I did, and I wish that I had read more reviews and taken them more seriously. Do not let this store spoil what should be a wonderful experience for you!
First, the told me the dress that they sold me was an original designed by Mary herself. It was an exact copy of an Alfred Angelo dress, and she charged me 1000 more than the Alfred Angelo dress.
Two, they make you complete a questionnaire before you start trying on dresses with your price range. They first laughed at my price range, which was 1500 then lo and behold my dress cost exactly that because there are no price tags on any dress in the store, they are running a scam.
When I went in for my first fitting the dress wouldn't even zip up! ALTHOUGH they claimed it was custom made for my body, they then accused me of putting on weight and blamed me. After 3 months passed and I lost 5 pounds (on by 5'8" 125 pound body) to reach 120 pounds, my lowest body weight ever, the dress still wouldn't zip up and then went through a series of alterations. They never apologized to me or accepted responsibility for this. On the wedding day, I had to change in to a sundress because the dress was still so tight despite all the alterations.
In summary, the people there are not friendly, the gowns were made by other designers and the tags ripped out, and the gowns are over priced. I had a horrible experience there and I would only recommend this place to someone who knows all this going in. I did love my gown once all the alterations were over, but I would have rather not dealt with all the drama there.

I had read some of the other reviews and I will agree that if you want hand holding and the best customer service in town then Mary's is not the place for you. They are a little cold and unwilling to adheard to "the customer is always right" mentality. That being said...I only tried on two dresses there and I LOVED the dress I found. I had been to two other places and tried on a lot of other dresses. They have a very big selection but you better have deep pockets to try on a lot of dresses there. They did go over my budget which I had filled out for them on the questionare so I wasnt a fan of them not respecting my limits on my money. But...I did get them to take off some of the "extra" costs such as the shipping of the material and in the inside coverage in the dress. these costs were not told to me upfront but only after they charged my card. I wasnt happy and they returned what they didnt tell me about.
My fittings went very well...and it only took one fitting and then my final try on. The dress was awesome. I felt like i lost 30 lbs when I put it on! It was so flattering.
The Dress and alterations were great quality...the actual store and service...thumbs down!

I can see why some of the other people who reviewed Mary's bridal have negative comments. Mary's terms are restrictive and you have to pay everything upfront. I got a nice Allures wedding gown from Mary's bridal but I dealt with another sales woman. The tailoring was good and I got a reasonable price. The service is fine when dealing with someone other than Mary apparently. I'd still go back and buy a dress there. The store was nice and they had a pretty good selection. I think some of the negative reports are over the top though.
GUEST

I got my dress from Mary's bridal and I love it! When I first went there I thought they were a little snobby at first but I think they warmed up to me when they realized I was serious about buying a dress. My dress was custom made and fit like a glove.

The only thing good about Mary's is the dresses. Don't go there if you want to have a peaceful, non-awkward, and confrontational process of buying a wedding gown.
Most of the people I encountered there were rude and short with me. I once went in for a fitting where I had to wait because Mary was with a girl trying on her prom dress. I am sorry I paid $4,000 for my wedding gown and I don't want to wait when I have a scheduled appointment.
My bridesmaids ordered their dresses from Mary's and my sister had alterations done, because that is what you get when you pay $360 for a single dress, Mary tried to charge her an extra $60 and we refused.
The shop mixed up appointments, and were constantly rude. The only reason I went back was because I loved my dress.
I actually cried when I went to another boutique in Georgetown, but had already purchased my dress at Mary's because the way I was treated at the other boutique was 100 times better then at Mary's.
For the cost of the dresses at Mary's you should be treated way better. The horror stories you have read on here are not made up.
Great dress, but horrible experience. The only reason I rate the Value for the Cost a three star is because the dress was so beautiful, but you can find dresses just as beautiful at other boutiques. If you can afford a Mary's dress you can afford dresses at stores like "Hitched" in Georgetown.
GUEST

Overall I loved my dress....I got to change some of the things that were on the sample dress to fit my personality and my style and the result was beautiful. However, at times it was hard to reach them to change an appointment and I had something special put on my dress for my husband who is a pilot for the USMC and she put on something for the Navy....big no-no there....but all in all I loved my dress and the most of the people there were very nice and accommodating!

Im so livid and mad Im shaking. I told myself to wait a week or so to cool down, so here it is. I would not recommend this place to the lowest person on the face of the planet.
First, Mary has a horrible attitude, snobby, uptight, arrogant and unwilling to listen to your wants and needs. If you are spending that amount of money upfront (because there isnt any other option), you want your dress to be the way you want it. There are no returns, exchanges, or no choice of just buying the dress and altering it somewhere else. For a "couture" dress "designed by her" (YEAH RIGHT), I cannot believe the problems I had with my wedding dress. Supposedly, if you choose a dress designed by her she takes it off the floor and it is not sold to anyone else. They also tell you that your dress will be made to your size based on your measurements. HA HA HA HA.. yeah right. My dress.. oh my gosh, I cant even begin to tell you the monstrosity that was my dress.
One, the skirt material had frays in it (thats just the fabric- their excuse).
Two, the final fitting took 3 trips (I had an hour and a half drive each way).
Three, the zipper didn't line up, so you could see one side poking up.
Four, when I took it to another seamstress to fix some minor problems I wanted fixed by someone who would listen told me there was no need for the corset inside the dress, the zipper (weird and all) held the dress up just fine, that was just one more thing to mark up the price apparently.
Five, there was a patch of lace on my bodice that I noticed was ripped as I tried it on during one of my three final fittings there. The next time I tried it on, it wasnt hanging off like before, so I thought it was fine. Wrong, I should have known better, but honestly I still had a little faith and trust in them at this point. Why, I don't know, I guess Im too nice. The hole was covered by a patch of lace that was GLUED on!!!! You could see the fraying edges of the lace, and it started to pull off in the middle of the wedding.
Six, the bodice NEVER fit me correctly. If this dress was made from my measurements, then there shouldnt have been a problem. My photographer, bless his heart had to tell me continuously throughout the evening to fix my top. The lining showed every time I moved my arms. I wish I had taken my dress the first final fitting trip so I could have had it taken apart and fixed by the seamstress who actually knew what she was doing.
Seven, the beading work started falling off 20 minutes after I put it on. Sick, absolutely sick. Im so embarrassed by my dress.
All in all, this is by far the worst decision I made for our wedding. I regret even stepping foot in that place they call a bridal salon. I will be contacting the BBB over this. You'd be better off going to Goodwill or a dumpster and finding a better dress for that matter. How they are still in business is beyond me. All the stress and money spent on your wedding day, please let it be perfect by not shopping here. I beg of you, these people need to be shut down.
GUEST

I never dreamed that shopping for my wedding gown would come this easy. I have been to many other bridal shops and none compare to Mary's designer boutique. There were hundreds of dresses to choose from. My consultant knew exactly what kind of dress that would fit my taste and my style. She pulled several gowns for me to try on and the first dress I tried on was perfect for me I fell in love. This boutique is very relaxing and I recommend this bridal boutique to any bride who wants to feel like a special bride!
GUEST

I used this boutique to have a custom fitted bra put into my gown, which I did not buy from them. A friend had recommended this and it was $100 but worth every penny. It saved having to shop for the right bra and then worrying about straps, etc. I did not get my alterations done there because they wanted way too much money to alter my gown (over $300), which I had done from a private seamstree for $90. But the service was great, they put the bra in while I waited in less than one hour. They had seamstress right on site. Very nice.
GUEST

Mary's bridal is fantastic. Despite some of the negative reviews here, I had an excellent experience when I went there. When I went to the boutique, I wasn't sure what I wanted. After talking with my consultant, I fell in love with the first dress I tried on. I still have guests from my wedding tell me that my dress was the most beautiful wedding dress they had ever seen. Go there, trust them, and you will look phenomenal!

A little more than I expected to spend on my wedding gown, but totally worth it. I'd heard a lot of bad reviews of Mary's, and decided to check them out myself. I'm so glad that I did. I worked with Dorothy, who I highly recommend, and we walked through the shop looking at gowns. She was so helpful in explaining the fabrics, and she really had an idea of what would look good on my body type. They have hundreds, maybe thousands of gowns in the store, and while the dress I bought was not on display, Dorothy's knowledge of stock and ability to "see" what would look best on me was extremely helpful.
If you're looking for a bargain, this isn't the place for you to go. The owner, Mary, can be abrasive and snooty. If you go in to the shop with this knowledge, you'll have a much better experience!

The people at this boutique were very nice. The boutique itself is lovely! I was very satisfied with my dress and they even gave me a free neckless as a gift for buying my dress their.

Not worth the hassle! Many of the negative comments posted are very true. Mary 'made' my dress although I felt that she ordered the dress and made custom modifications. After much sticking to my guns and not allowing Mary's fancy terms and opinions stop me, I finally got my dress almost the best that it could be. After seeing the finished product, I felt that I may have been able to find a better dress at a place like Kleinfelds for the high price that we paid. Also, I felt that she gave me a display veil, not a newly made one since it had a plastic comb and was coming undone when she showed it to me. At the wedding the material at the top of my gown wouldn't stay in it's place and by the reception a wire at the top of my strapless dress started poking me to the point of actually breaking the skin and cutting me!
She also 'made' my bridesmaids dresses. Yeah right!!! During a fitting they left the style # and designer name on a piece of paper in the garment bag. I went home and Googled it and it was the exact dress. They ordered it and charged more than double!!! Plus, it was no where near the design that we discussed. Mary forces you to pay the FULL balance upfront. Probably because so many customers get upset during the process and want to back out. I paid for the hideous BM dresses and never used them, we ordered new ones from somewhere else. In hind sight, you should NEVER pay full price upfront for something that is being made.
Mary also 'made' the mother of the groom dress. Although this dress was also obviously ordered, she loved the dress. She charged a price so high for it that I'm ashamed to mention it. And you would think that with all of these purchases, Mary would offer some sort of appreciation discount---Huh, think again!
Mary gives a ton of excuses, tries to get you to change your mind, charges waaaay to much, doesn't make anything from scratch, the materials used should be higher quality for the price charged---on and on there are too many stores out there to be bothered with this place.
Also, an ex-employee confirmed that she in fact orders the dresses from other known designers and says that she made it. I got suckered in to the large quantity of contemporary styles, but she's not the only location.
Buyer beware with this one! She will talk a great game on your first visit, so don't get suckered in. Actually, you shouldn't even bother to go to this place!!

Mary's is the worst place to go if you are looking for a gown. This place will push you to tears and make you insane. The dresses are sent for pickup without being finished and they overcharge everyone. You will find greedy, and fake sales people when you come to Mary's. They give you a sheet asking you where you are getting married and your budget, and how many guests, and all sorts of things like that. This is all to assess how much money they can get out of you. They make the price much higher than any budget you indicate. After you fill out your registration, they bring you dresses. "Well as the Creative Director, I've been doing this a long time and I know what would look best on you." Her assistant has been sick every time Ive been there, often times coughing uncontrollably the entire time. She goes on and on and on about very personal things that are a jumbled mess of problems that shouldnt ever be spoken about with customers. She reeks of new and stale cigarettes, often times leaving the customer to smoke in front of the store. With the constant coughing, it is amazing that no one does anything to make her stop smoking, if for nothing but her own health. She bad mouths Mary to the customers in the dressing rooms and tells them horrible things about Mary and the business. There are no prices or sizes on things so you can't go anywhere else and comparison shop. So you don't know what designers dress you are trying on or what the price should be. And they dont tell you the total before they run your credit card. They take your credit card and license, then 10 minutes later, they come get you to sign the slips after its been run. They make copies of your driver's license and credit cards too... You are rushed through without being able to read the fine print and when you get home and read it, it is already too late. She will not let you change your mind once you have signed, you cannot have your money back. No exceptions. She wont exchange things either.

Mary's bridal is a great shop. Although they are pretty expensive. I love my dress and it is really well made and of excellent quality. Mary said her dresses are more expensive because they are made of very good and durable material. Plus she makes all the dresses herself so they are all personally hand made. Also if you want to you can go in and tell her exactly what you want and she will custom build the dress for you, although expect to pay a pretty penny for that. I chose a dress that was already made off of the rack. It wasn't too expensive, but it was more expensive than a dress would have been at david's bridal. But I love my dress and I am glad that I payed a little extra to get the perfect dress.

Let me start by saying that I really loved my wedding dress. It was a splurge. Mary made a dress that was truly gorgeous and she'll modify any of her designs to suit your taste. She does have dresses that you won't see anywhere else as they are all original designs.
However, you really have to ask for what you need. I had multiple fittings and it was like I was trying on a different dress each time. It took my mother's insistence to get the correct bustle and mine to get the hips tailored. In the end the dress fit well with a few exceptions (the bust remained too big and the dress was too long).
The dress was made very quickly so if you need a dress in a hurry (and it isn't high season) they will try to accommodate you.
FYI - they made my veil and it is the most beautiful veil I or any of my guests had ever seen. They all thought it was a vintage family piece which was just what I wanted.

The dresses are beautiful and mine was no different. It took too many fittings to get the dress right and as soon as I got a little bit sweaty my dress slipped down enough that I was constantly pulling on it. I was told that I wouldn't come out but during my first dance my guests almost got a bridal flash. The owner has no clue about customer service, with Mary the customer is not right. We had to repeatedly ask for certain alterations to be done and it was like pulling teeth. If you spend that much money (we are talking quad digits) you expect things to be done professionally and to your liking.

Mary's was a God-send for a bride with a vision of her perfect wedding gown. The shop is beautiful. The staff is courteous. The dresses are AMAZING! They actually listened to what I wanted, instead of bringing me every dress in the store to try on. If you haven't found your perfect gown, I guarantee that Mary's has it waiting for you!

This was the worst experience I could ever imagine. This vendor was a referral. After the fact, I see why the person referred Mary, because she was rarely present at her fittings. Mary, the owner and operator, was rude, patronizing, fake and just overall unpleasant to work with. The finished product was very pretty, but I would never, never, never recommend this establishment. EVER.

Mary's is a disaster! I would not recommend this shop at all!
The owner, Mary, is very rude and snooty. She actually asked my sister, 21, if she would need to make alterations to the dress in a few months since she must be pregnant to be getting married so young! She also yelled at the grooms mother for calling the dress a color that was wrong! My timid sister was also very upset that no one could go back with her to try the dress on, which you have to get practically naked for. Mary's reason? There are so many pins in the dressing room, they don't want to encounter a lawsuit if someone were to get hurt.
The assistant Dorothy, though under the influence of Mary, was helpful, and much friendlier.
The dresses are expensive, but the selection was good, if you can put up with the terrible snobby attitude of the owner.

The wedding dress was beautiful! The beading showed-up in the pictures (that's how impressive the beading was). I was impressed with the workmanship, professionalism, and quality of service.

I have heard a lot of bad reviews about Mary's, but the experience I had with them was fine. Mary really knew how to fit a dress and what kind of dress looked best on me. I addressed all of my concerns and they were all met, even though I had to ask more than once in some cases. My advice: always speak to Mary. Mary would always get done what I wanted. Also, make sure you get what YOU want. YOU are the bride.
Mary's had a wide selection and my dress was beautiful.

This company is based in Texas, but they're dresses are flawless. They also sell their dresses out of boutiques like Sylvia's dress shop in Worcester, MA. The detail and designs of the dresses were just my taste. This is where I got the gorgeous flower girl dresses that were red, white, and gold. Just like the colors of my summer wedding.

You must be a year out to work with this vendor,as you are going to walk out with a one of a kind dress, that requires 4+ fittings. The coordinators sit you down on your first appointment and ask you what you are looking for in the style of the dress, as well as the budget ( if yours in under $1000-don't go here..it is $$$) AFter you have established that you will try on no more than 3 dresses before you have found the one of your dreams! Mine was the 2nd..it was PERFECT. From there you get 180 -360 degree photos taken in the dress and get measured from every angle..you feel like a movie star! The seamstresses are awesome. On the day I picked up my dress, I was still sketchy on the strapless-ness of my gown, so the seamstress created a halter strap that was detachable that changed my dress from strapless to a halter, or both! You get excellent service, but beware of Mary herself, she is a great designer and very "artsy" and can be very kooky and odd...but hey she makes a mean wedding gown. They are not cheap, but getting a one of kind made in silk vs. satin...well it shouldn't be cheap!

if you want a place that will make you feel so incrediablly special this is where to go.
They make you the dress of your dreams you dont buy one off a rack.
There are several fittings to attend, but your dress will fit perfectly.
Mine was absolutly beautiful

They had my dream dress but Mary definately needs to work on her customer service skills. She was sometimes abrupt and snooty. But at the end of the day, I had my dream dress and I looked great in it. Her staff was very nice to deal with.

I had no idea what I was looking for when I went to this shop. Mary helped me pick the perfect dress that looked good on me. She really took the time to work with me and make all the details perfect. Her staff also really took the time to show my mom and planner how to lace up the back of my dress since their staff wouldn't be there on our wedding day! I had about 4-5 fittings to make sure everything was going like it should and to make comments about things that I did or did not like. It was really neat to see the dress being made in stages. When I picked my dress up for the final fitting, Mary had even made a small purse for my wedding day to match the design on my dress. Amazing! I think that you have to be willing to put in the time and the money to see her, but it's worth it!

Went here looking for my perfect dress, and left feeling like a piece of crap!! The hustled you around like a piece of meat, told me what I wanted and argued that my taste in dress would not look good on me!! After 3 hours of waiting and being scoffed at the main lady REFUSED to tell me the price of the dress, she ridiculed me for "waiting too late" to find my dress (this was 10 months before my wedding!!) and when I asked her the price asked "who will be paying for it" as they could give her a call and she would discuss that with them! completely innappropriate!!
GUEST

This was a horrible experience, Mary told me I did not have enough time to buy the Jim Helm gown I liked for my bridesmaids, but she would custom make it. At the time I thought this was great, until I realized it was a lie, and she just was cutting the Jim Helm tags out of the gown. Then she told my mother her dress was an original from Italy with real gold in the threads and it had a very hefty price tag, imagine her disappointment when we saw the same gown at another bridal boutique we visited. The dresses were such a mess, my father missed a good portion of our Rehearsal dinner b/c he was still at the shop trying to get the bridesmaids dresses right!!!
More selection of dresses than all of the others...
