I am splitting my review into 2 categories: taste/presentation and customer service/professionalism.Taste/Presentation merits 5 stars. I ordered the mango mouse and mocha walnut cake (2 separate cakes) for my wedding last month. They were so delicious, light, and unique in its flavor. I'm not sure if it is the quality of ingredients they use, but the mango mouse cake was airy, sweet and tangy, and moist. The mocha walnut cake was a mix of light and rich and there is a kick to it. Both cakes were beautifully presented and I do not doubt their dessert making talents.Customer Services/Professionalism - 0 stars. They were an epic fail in terms of service or lack thereof. First, their website has no data. Second, they will never answer their phone. Finally, we were able to get them on the phone to schedule a tasting, the co-owner Marcia is a terror. The tasting is to sit there, wait for Marcia to grace us with her presence and then wait some more. It seems she does not understand professional courtesy or just simple manners. We had to wait for her to attend to other customers and hoped she'd come back to give us more information. The following is a recount of what went down: Marcia gave us the samples and gave us the prices. She left and I started calcuating and looking through my budget. She came back WHEN she wanted as I was still calculating and asked, "Are you even interested in what I have to say?" I was stunned by her rudeness and I think I said "no" (basically because I'm allergic to wheat and I can't eat cake). Then she went on to say that if I wasn't giving her my full attention, she doesn't want to waste the time to explain things to me. This is when I told her I am calculating the budget. She walks off....seriously. Then, I think she realized she was being rude, came back to back peddle and explain herself but the damage was already done. Furthermore, we had to chase her 3 times to get our order/invoices over email. Their operations and processes are a big cluster&*(. I don't put it past them to lose orders. My husband really liked the taste of the cakes so we decided to go with them and I don't think we made a mistake there. Their cakes are actually really good. But I think it's safe to say that not a lot of people like paying a bunch of money to be treated badly. And no one is better than the next person so don't put yourself above others!

Masse's is a real patisserie. This means that their cakes taste and look great. My wedding cake was the best part of the reception. It was delicious! I managed to eat 3 pieces!

Oh my gosh this was the yummiest, most beautiful wedding cake ever! We received RAVE reviews. Our cake included a chocolate cake layer, vanilla cream filling, caramel mousse layer, a layer of poached pears, a caramel glaze, all wrapped in dark chocolate. Marcia decorated it with orchids and it was gorgeous --- quite different from they typical white cake. Cake was not too sweet (many cake maker we tried were) and perfectly moist. Very competitively priced, the total was less than many comparable (although much more uppity in attitude) San Francisco cake makers even though we paid extra to have the cake brought to our wedding in San Francisco from the bakery in Berkeley. You won't be disappointed by Masse's.

Perfect. We went in with nothing but a picture and were looking for a good deal within a budget. We showed them the picture and they said "no problem" and instantly gave us a sample of what it would taste like. They were at the wedding early and the cake was absolutely perfect. Our best wedding pictures were the ones of the cake! It was perfect. Tasted wonderful and got tons of complements. If you're in the Bay Area I highly recommend this place. 10 out of 10. Even just to stop by for a pastry and coffee.

Masse's cakes are so delicious. All our guest raved about our wedding cake (mango mousse). Even guests who normally would not eat cake, enjoyed it. My sweet husband got me the same cake flavor & style for our first wedding anniversary. Make sure to book with the owners at least 6 months in advance especially if your wedding is during peak season. They book up fast!
