I have spent my whole life visiting this beautiful resort and it was my childhood dream to marry here. My love for this place has been punched out of me from planning my wedding here. My experience working with the hotel's wedding coordinator, Pinkie Crowe, was one of the most exasperating of my life. Dealing with her and her vendors was so impossible that my husband, myself and our families almost called off our Hawaiian dream wedding, forfeiting our deposits and airfare just to alleviate the stress of having to plan a wedding from 2000 miles away with the someone so completely inept, inefficient and insensitive. Planning any wedding is stressful but confounding it with such total incompetence that it sucks the joy out of what should be a joyous occasion is unacceptable. You should not fear and/or dread your wedding. It pains me to no end that with a wedding there is no "do-over" which is why I cannot more strongly urge you to look elsewhere. Just come to the resort for your honeymoon! All we wanted was a simple, small, elegant wedding and reception by the ocean with a handful of family and friends able to make the trip (12) and wanted to enjoy spending time with them. It shouldn't have been a big deal, but the feeling that made our skin crawl is that the Mauna Lani only cares about you if you are a BIG DEAL. Unless you have at least 50 guests ready and able to travel or are willing to get ripped off by meaningless "perks" like weak ceremony niblets (fruit skewers), unnecessary decorative lighting and superfluous photo/video packages . . . you'll likely be ignored the way we were. There's nothing worse than feeling like your wedding's their lowest priority. Regardless, we wanted to create something special and to have input on who our other vendors were, like our photographer. Another point we grappled with! It seems the hotel receives kickbacks when you use their "preferred vendors". Finding our own fantastic outside vendors was the saving grace for my sanity and best aspects of our wedding. After eight months of tireless efforts to communicate, and weeks without responses to decision making questions, we arrived to find key issues still not correct and/or settled, such as our ceremony style and rehearsal dinner menu. There was a constant retraction of what was "actually" available us - the elegant steak and seafood plated dinner originally offered was reduced to a family buffet of fried chicken and biscuits because of the number of rooms booked by my guests. Perhaps the most disturbing part was having to reiterate to Pinkie Crowe what prices and options she had initially offered me when she increased our commitment to guest rooms and impoverished our dinner buffet. I prey I will never have to wage a battle for Mahi Mahi again for the rest of my life. (***To their credit, any stars are earned solely by the quality of the food and service at the reception. The people taking care of you at the hotel are lovely and my guests enjoyed their stay. Like I said, good for honeymooning!***) In the end (among other things) Pinkie offended our friends and family at the ceremony AND reception, the minister read the WRONG ceremony (Hawaiian themed instead of Civil a.k.a."T'il death do us part"), and the hotel destroyed the top layer of my wedding cake before I even received it. I could not wait to leave. The Mauna Lani has been my family's most favorite vacationing spot since I was seven. I will likely never return after this experience.

Pinkie and everyone at the Mauna Lani were absolutely amazing...our wedding was even better than I could have imagined. All of our guests continue to dream of when we can all go back to the Mauna Lani and experience it all again...it was magical and perfect in every way. The service Pinkie provided was above and beyond - the setting was gorgeous, food was delicious, wine and beer were flowing...it was seamless and made me feel like I could just relax and enjoy our wedding day (and our whole week at the resort)

Perfectly Paradise. The hotel is amazing, an understated luxury with a fantastic attention to detail and customer service. This is where you can experience the true Aloha Sprit from the many local people of Hawai'i who work here to the quiet, private areas all around the hotel. At maximum capacity you will NOT feel like just a number at this hotel nor will there be any rudeness, feelings of having to be rushed, or like you are at Disneyland. The calm peaceful areas all about the hotel including the amazing spa will have you planning your next trip back here even before you leave.
We had a 150 person wedding here over the Thanksgiving Holiday with guests from all over the United States as well as family/friends from the Hawaiian Islands. It was amazing, fantastic and a place where words cannot describe how you will feel afterwards being transformed in your mind, body, and soul from Kalahuipua'a.

Our final result at the Mauna Lani was fantastic. I had written a comprehensive wedding memo detailing how I wanted things and it was followed to the letter. Pinkie Crowe was always there to make sure things were going to plan on the day of the wedding, assisted by her fabulous assistants Lauren & Misty. Although we had a rocky start since I wanted to do pretty much everything out-of-the-box, once Pinkie came around to the fact that I was not going to settle for what they “usually” do (i.e. it seems to me it would have been easier for them), we had a good time planning. The entire Mauna Lani staff really stepped it up for our wedding. From the Beverage Manager who we negotiated $20 off of their standard corkage fee to their Pastry Chef who designed a custom chocolate dessert bar for us, we are so appreciative for all they did...and put up with A special note about the bell staff there...excellent! We had over 20 boxes of décor items delivered to our room and it was always done with a smile (even the really heavy boxes). The only reason I give them a minus is that I had booked time in their salon for a mani/pedi on the morning of the wedding and they double booked me...I did not get my mani/pedi. There were a few minor things that we had discussed that were not followed (i.e. tying the chair ties like a men’s tie versus a bow) however I did not put in the wedding memo so don’t blame them for missing that. PSA: if you have many boxes as I did, you’ll need to provide your own cart as the Mauna Lani does not allow use of the bellmen’s carts unless the bellmen actually move your items (in which case you will be charged every time things are moved).
It's also worth noting that the Mauna Lani offers many gorgeous wedding locations including the Mauna Lani Beach Club and Eva Parker Woods Cottage (where Nicholas Cage and Lisa Marie Presley got married). Their wedding packages start at $500 including ceremony site, officiant and wedding coordinator. It's an amazing deal for such a top-notch location.
